Air, Water, Earth, Fire.

We flew over to Avatar Island on Tomoko's glider. I thought she was nuts when she suggested it as it was a one person craft. But some how I was able to hold on on top. Though the landing was a bit ruff as I fell off. Causing her to laugh before coming over as if to check if I was ok.

"So that's what Avatar Aang looked like?" I asked rhetorically.

"Yep, he and Fire Lord Zuko are part of the reason the things are the way they are today."

We walk around to the other side and set up, I pull out two fishing rods.

"We are going to fish?" She asks.

"Yeah, what do you think we are going to eat?"

"Good point."

A few minutes goes by before Tomoko speaks again.

"You mind if I ask you something?"

"Not at all." Unaware of what she was going to start talking about.

"There is something about you that you haven't told me is there?"

"What do you mean?"

"It just feels strange that you would come out of nowhere and ask me to train you. Why not go to the temple? Better yet why not go to the Western Temple?"

I take in a deep breath. "What are you getting at?"

"For the sake of what ever may develop between us. I need you to lay everything out on the table. What ever your hiding I won't tell anyone I promise."

"Fine, if you must know. I am the Avatar."

"Wait really? Your serious."

"Yes."

"Why keep this a secret?"

"I am only half trained right now. I need to learn Air and Earth. Then once that's done I am to ascend to the throne as part of a Military coup."

"An Avatar becoming Firelord? That's absurd!"

"Is it? Every known Avatar before me in their attempt to make the world better has just made issues for the next Avatar to deal with. Korra dealt with the brunt of Aang's short sightedness and died young because of it. Ginji had to put up with a fake Avatar."

"Then what would you do as your job is to maintain balance."

"Define 'balance' for me will you? Because generally it refers to maintaining the status quo. What good did that do for the world? Thousands of years of stagnation leading to the Fire Nation committing genocide in an attempt to break this. Don't get me started on the massive screw up that is the Dai Li."

"Well there needs to be an Alternative then."

"What do you mean?"

"Like you said the Fire Nation broke the stagnation once, it can do it again."

"Now your joking."

"No I am not. I think it's time for the Avatar to unite the world under its leadership."

"Do you really think a government ruled by an Avatar would work?"

"Yes I do."

A hour or so passes and we catch some fish to cook. Tomoko looks to be in deep thought as I cook.

"What are you thinking about?" I ask.

"Sometimes I feel like I was born to the wrong element." She calmly admits.

"How so?"

"Air nomads are supposed to be peace loving, spiritual, vegetarians. But I am none of that."

"What are you then?"

"I don't know."
