Azula goes into hiding in the earth kingdom to escape imprisonment from Zuko and is being chased by the Avatar but after a strange ship from the sky crash lands Azula finds herself on board when it takes off unwillingly taking her into the stars with it. Now Azula finds herself amongst a crew of alien creatures traversing strange alien worlds.

Sequel to the canon-divergent and early-Zuko-join fic Catalyst, Catastrophe starts at the beginning of book 3 and follows the Gaang through to Day of Black Sun. Zuko continues to wrestle with his feelings toward the Fire Nation, his family, his friends, Katara, and the war as the time for the invasion arrives, and what it means to finally be "good."

When Zuko and Sokka meet as children after the Southern Water Tribe is not only invaded, but conquered by the Fire Nation, they realize unlikely alliances can be formed in war. The Prior Fire Lord in an attempt to avoid the mistakes of the last to Avatars banned the White Lotus.
