The scuffle between Yamato and Kenji escalated into an all-out fight. Yamato was fighting for supremacy. Kenji was fighting for survival. Their partners, ZeedGarurumon and DORUgoramon, fought to protect them. The polar-capped environment became an intense battlefield as their powerful blows crushed the ice and their auras melted some frost near them.
Upon reading Kenji's blows, Yamato quickly dodged and parried the warrior's brutal punches. Kenji became an open book for him. After dodging a straight punch, Yamato sidestepped and got behind Kenji. When Kenji whipped around to grab him, Yamato tucked under and landed a fierce uppercut into Kenji's jaw. Launching him into the air after the uppercut, Yamato jumped up and kicked Kenji aside.
Kenji quickly fell into a heap of snow and looked up at Yamato quietly staring him down. With a neutral look, Yamato seemed displeased with what Kenji had to show him.
Meanwhile, their Digimon partners continued their duel across the polar landscape. After unleashing a destructive shockwave, DORUgoramon attempted to overwhelm ZeedGarurumon. ZeedGarurumon swiftly evaded DORUgoramon's attack and blasted him away with his Zeed Cannon.
"What's wrong, boy? Have you lost the nerve to fight?" Yamato disparaged him. "Or, has your power petered out already?"
Growling in response, Kenji rose and released an intense aura that pushed Yamato back. Although he felt its intensity, Yamato wasn't dismayed by Kenji's power. He beckoned Kenji to fight him again. Flying straight at Yamato, Kenji attacked him with a flurry of punches. This time his punches came quicker and harder than before. Yamato found himself on the receiving end of quicker blows to dodge, forcing him to work on putting his guard up. Yamato put up his arms to block Kenji's attacks.
At the same time, DORUgoramon went on the offense and caught ZeedGarurumon by surprise. The speed of DORUgoramon's attacks wasn't fluctuating but instead increasing. ZeedGarurumon launched a barrage of ammunition and his Zeed Cannon to hold DORUgoramon at bay. DORUgoramon quickly guarded himself, absorbing the weapon barrage. Focusing on his guard, he left himself open on the side as ZeedGarurumon flew around and headbutted him. ZeedGarurumon's blow cracked DORUgoramon's side and sent him crashing back.
As Kenji continued to punch Yamato, the seasoned Ascendant noticed the brute's hastening attacks. Their accelerating speeds allowed them to glide several kilometers across the frigid landscape. The power of their head-on clashes created giant dents in the frozen terrain. As Yamato flew straight into the air, Kenji quickly zipped right in front of him, quickly matching Yamato's unprecedented speed.
He's fast! He must've assessed how to use his power. Yamato thought while blocking one of Kenji's blows. He and Kenji took their duel into the sky as their blows shook the environment.
Amid Kenji's fast and furious attacks, Yamato heard Matt's voicing his concerns to him. "Not just that he's adapting so quickly and we've been fighting him for less than a few minutes!"
Yamato internally scoffed. "'We'? I'm the one fighting this boy now. And correction, it's been two minutes since we've been fighting. You're right though, he's gotten sharper."
"We need to end this fast, Yamakins!"
Unnerved by Matt's offhanded 'Yamakins' remark, Yamato punched Kenji's chest and knocked him far back.
"Kenji, I'm coming!" DORUgoramon yelled as he intended to save his partner if ZeedGarurumon didn't stop him.
"Forget him. Your fight is with me," ZeedGarurumon snarled as he lunged and attacked DORUgoramon.
Everyone else quietly witnessed the two ongoing battles. Brakus and Burizalor curiously observed and commented on the battles.
"It appears that young man is well-trained, too," Brakus monitored Yamato. "And his partner is quite a fierce beast if he's able to hold DORUmon at bay."
"These Ascendants have seen their slew of life-and-death battles over the years. Yet, your son is quite adept at brawling with the best of them," Burizalor commented. "Am I correct to assume that Kenji hasn't fought another person before?"
"Only during training matches with me and DORUmon."
"I can see the boy got the most of his training with DORUmon. But fighting someone with your battle power is meaningless, Brakus," the tyrant remarked, verbally putting down Brakus' weaker strength. "Not to worry, it seems the boy is already becoming familiar with fighting someone worthy."
After trading a flurry of blows, Yamato hammered Kenji's back and sent him crashing to the ground. Crash-landing hard on the frigid ground, Kenji quickly launched straight for Yamato. Anticipating Kenji's predictable head-on attack, Yamato prepared to stop him.
Then, much to his surprise, Kenji quickly flew to the side and swerved behind Yamato. Kenji quickly backhanded Yamato and sent him flying back.
"That's it, Kenji! You've got him!" Brakus hollered.
As they locked hands, the two Ascendants briefly grappled and tried outmuscling each other. Just then, Kenji noticed a golden sheen of light enveloping Yamato. Then, a blue flare of light came out of Yamato's chest, fully displaying the Crest of Friendship. Distracted by these lights, Kenji took his eyes off the one that mattered most.
"This is getting annoying" Yamato bellowed, quickly jabbing Kenji's face hard. After knocking Kenji away, Yamato's Crest of Friendship symbol vanished while that golden flare consumed him completely. He beckoned ZeedGarurumon, who turned into digitized light and infused himself with Yamato. Letting out a fierce roar, his hair spiked straight up and turned bright gold. His blue eyes turned bright emerald.
As he gained his bearings, Kenji looked up and gawked at the sight of Metalla X. The golden-haired Ascendant gazed at Kenji with intensity. The blue glow of Metalla X's Crest of Friendship continued to glow and adorn his chest. Taking a few deep breaths, Kenji tried to process this. His lack of understanding of this transformation had him curious.
"Kenji, that Digimon just vanished and went inside that guy! Can we do something like that?!" DORUgoramon called to his bewildered friend.
Witnessing Yamato's transformation into Metalla X, Brakus was stunned by the event. "What the hell is this?!"
"Hold on. Can Brakus not turn into a full-on Ascendant?" Burizalor asked with concern. "That's a sheer disappointment."
"But, a golden-haired Ascendant? You mean like the legend?"
As both let out fierce roars, Kenji and DORUgoramon launched at Metalla X. When DORUgoramon attacked at the front, Kenji swiftly flew around and got behind Metalla X. Having accessed ZeedGarurumon's strength, Metalla X's senses sharpened, allowing him to counter their attacks. He backhanded Kenji away and dodged DORUgoramon. He then seized DORUgoramon's tail, swinging him around and throwing him to the ground. Flying toward Metalla X, Kenji tried to avenge his partner. Metalla X easily dodged and kicked Kenji away. Metalla X chased Kenji through the frigid landscape, blocking Kenji's punches. Metalla X fired blasts into Kenji's face and pummeled him with face punches. Unable to keep up with the faster striker, Kenji was battered by a flurry of blows, including a right hook that collided with his face. This didn't send Kenji flying. Instead, Kenji absorbed this blow and scowled.
"Where the hell did this come from?!" Metalla X noted Kenji's sudden reaction. Following that, Kenji gut-punched Metall X and sent him flying into a glacier. After that, Kenji crashed into Metalla X and punched him through the ice. Metalla X quickly crossed his arms in front, blocking as much of Kenji's punch as he could.
Relying on brute strength alone, Kenji pushed Metalla X through the ice.
Damn it! Are you seeing this, Matt?! He's learning as he's fighting me! Metalla X thought, warning the other half of him. He was shoved through hundreds if not thousands of feet of glacial ice before being shoved out of the glacier.
As the fighters came flying out of the glacier, the Ascendants unleashed a flurry of punches on each other nonstop. Kenji punched Metalla X back a few times. Not giving Metalla X a chance to get away, Kenji grabbed Metalla X's throat. Metalla X kicked Kenji's face, causing him to let him go. They fired numerous Ki blasts at each other, which shattered and blew off chunks of ice around them.
Arriving their their location, DORUgoramon saw his partner was actively engaging Metalla X. "Hold on, Kenji! I'll cover for you!" He hastily dove at Metalla X and went for another shockwave to repel the golden-haired Ascendant.
Catching wind of DORUgoramon's approach, Metalla X evaded the Digimon's attack. This allowed Kenji to headbutt Metalla X. Metalla X quickly flew off, luring Kenji and DORUgoramon away.
"Are you seeing all of this, Tai?! This guy is keeping up with Yamato in just his base form!" Agumon said enthusiastically.
"Good for him, but bad for Yamakins," Tai replied, watching Metalla X luring his opponents away.
"You're catching on, too, huh? That kid is adapting so quickly just by fighting. It's terrifying," Max added as he and Gojiramon witnessed Kenji's evolving speed and power.
As he glided far into the air, Metalla X refocused his power and accessed the divine nature within him. A bright red light enveloped him, coalescing with his golden aura and replacing it completely. A wave of magma-like red mixed with orange engulfed Metalla X, turning his golden hair into bright red. When he opened his eyes, his once emerald eyes now matched the color of his red hair and aura. To reflect these changes, his body became leaner. With divine power fully coursing through him, Metalla X tapped into the strength of an Ascendant God.
Using his aura's power, Metalla X repelled Kenji and DORUgoramon. Both froze in their places in alarm at the Ascendant God's presence. Their faces contorted with dismay, unable to comprehend what they had gotten themselves into.
Metalla X then fired a few transparent shots, knocking them both away. Kenji recovered faster and attempted to attack Metalla X head-on. As a result of his divine upgrade, the red-haired Ascendant's senses heightened. He read Kenji's movements and dodged all of his attacks. Fighting with all he's got, Kenji didn't stop. Metalla X effortlessly caught one hand, exemplifying their speed difference. Pulling back his right hand, Metalla X quickly punched Kenji's face and sent him sailing through several glacial hills.
"KENJI!" DORUgoramon called out as he flew toward his friend.
Dismayed by his son's downfall, Brakus fell to his knees. "I can't what I'm seeing… that young man's power is beyond anything either I or Kenji had ever seen."
"Has your son reached his limit?" Burizalor queried.
"Yes, I believe so."
"Well, that's that. Perhaps we can call this a day," the tyrant walked toward his ship with the Digicores.
"Yes, sir."
As he came to, Kenji struggled to loosen himself from a glacier he crash-landed on. DORUgoramon arrived and began prying his friend loose. Then, he stopped when he saw Kenji's body quivering and his face beginning to seethe.
Metalla X arrived and noticed Kenji quivering. "What's he doing?"
"It's over, Kenji! I order you and DORUmon not to engage him anymore! Stand down and get in the ship!" Brakus pleaded with his adoptive son. He blanched when Kenji seethed and caused the glacier to rumble. Fearing the worst from an outburst, Brakus grumbled. "Damn it, boy." He then opened his pouch, expecting the control device, but it was not there anymore. Trepidation then struck a cord within him. "Oh no… no… the remote control is gone! It should be here! Kenji, command you and your partner to withdraw now!"
As he continued seething, the pleas from his son fell on deaf ears. Blocking out Brakus' command, Kenji raised his head, narrowing his eyes and gnashing his teeth like a ferocious beast. DORUgoramon couldn't do anything for his friend and instead chose to fight alongside him.
"I'm ready whenever you are, Kenji," DORUgoramon said with loyalty to his friend.
"What a waste," Metalla X scoffed, charging up and building an immense red Ki sphere inside his right palm.
"Oh no, he's going to kill those two if he isn't careful!" Max exclaimed.
"Dad, no!" Keke cried out.
"Don't do it, Yamato! Matt get him under control!" Tai pleaded.
(Cue Dragon Ball Super: Broly OST - Awakened Power)
Before Matt could intervene from within, Metalla X unleashed the divine sphere and sent it toward the two. In response to the incoming blast, DORUgoramon threw himself in front of Kenji. Kenji folded his arms around his partner as both took the full-charged blast head-on. The sheer force from the blast shattered the glacier, sending Kenji and his partner to sink into the icy water depths. Also taking a blow from the attack, DORUgoramon turned back into DORUmon.
"Yamakins, that was going too far! You could've killed them!" Keke called out.
"No, wait, I'm still sensing them!" Max verified, sensing both of their Ki from beneath the glacial waters.
Inspecting the icy waters, Tai and Agumon witnessed a bright golden glow coming out of the water. In the deep water, Kenji and DORUmon's bodies became infused with a golden light. The immediate threat to their lives awakened the Crest of Legacy as its brilliant golden glow enveloped the two, causing DORUmon to awaken. Sharing his partner's rage, DORUmon used the Crest of Legacy's power to evolve into DoruGreymon, a large red-furred dragon with a white mane, wings, a tail, and spikes on his body.
I won't let us die here, Kenji! We will survive this! DoruGreymon thought as he infused his life energy with Kenji's Crest, causing an immediate reaction that awakened the Ascendant. Then, DoruGreymon turned into digitized light that was infused with Kenji, creating black armor that formed over him.
Everyone witnessed the icy waters stirring violently. Waves crashed against nearby glaciers and the ground rumbled. It looked like a powerful hurricane was about to come through. No, instead this sudden disruption came from beneath the waters. A massive whirlpool formed in the water and inside a beacon of orange-yellow light erupted. As the whirlpool exploded, a solitary figure emerged bathed in a neon green aura. DoruGreymon was no longer seen. The Digimon had finished merging with Kenji, who sported a green aura and black armor on his forearms, legs, and torso.
"Holy hell, he… he just merged with his Digimon already?!" Keke exclaimed.
"So, he's achieved his full-powered Ascendant state," Max noted, noting the green aura shrouding Kenji.
"Wow, this is incredible! He's already reached his next level!" Sora cried out.
"He's already at a level above our Ascendant states now, Sora!" Izzy said, eliciting dismay from her.
"That's because fighting an Ascendant God pushed him further! This warrior already had unnaturally gifted power before but now it's skyrocketed above natural Ascendant levels!" Gennai remarked, noticing Brakus slowly rising. "I bet you're taking notice, too, huh, Brakus?"
As Kenji emerged roaring from the water, he heard DORumon inside his mind.
"Hey, Kenji. Can you hear me? Listen, we've combined just like those two did. I'm shocked just as you are."
"What are we now, DORUmon?"
"They say we're full-powered Ascendants. Also, for whatever reason I thought of a name for us in this state."
"What have you chosen?"
"How does Nova X sound?"
"Where did that come from, DORUmon?"
"Dunno. It just came to me. Is it ok?"
"Yeah, I like it. We're Nova X now."
Unleashing an unbridled roar, Nova X set his sights on Metalla X and growled. The newly evolved Ascendant unleashed a powerful shockwave from his aura, which pushed Tai, Agumon, Max, Gojiramon, and Metalla X back. The others took cover behind a barrier Whismon formed for them.
"Thanks, Whismon. I don't know what we'd do if you weren't here," Gennai said.
"Tai! Get inside the barrier with us!" Sora called out.
"You, too, Max!" Keke shouted.
"We'll be fine! You all stay behind that barrier!" Max said.
"Are you feeling this, Yamakins?! What incredible power he has!" Tai exclaimed.
"Hey, you wouldn't happen to bring any of those Digi-Vitamins, did you?" Metalla X asked him.
"No, I didn't think we'd need any!"
"Ugh, damn. This might be harder than we thought. This guy's power already eclipses Yagami's Legendary state," Metalla X muttered, keenly eyeing Nova X, who continued to amass enough power that his green aura glowed brighter. Opening his mouth, he shot a green blast at Tai, Max, Metalla X, and their Digimon.

"Whoa, move away!" Max shouted as he pulled Gojiramon away and flew out of harm's direction.
Likewise, Tai and Agumon flew out of the way. Metalla X narrowly dodged as the beam headed past him and exploded far behind him.
Not one to be outdone, Metalla X hastily flew at Nova X and punched him in the face. Metalla X's face contorted with dismay when his punch, which knocked Kenji away before, didn't make the Ascendancy flinch. Returning the favor, Nova X quickly punched Metalla X, sending him flying far back. This time, Nova X's reflexes and fighting speed became augmented, allowing him to keep up with the Ascendant God.
"My, my! Where did this come from?!" Burizalor exuberantly said, taken aback by Nova X's hastened recovery.
"I'm not sure, sir," a bewildered Brakus muttered, witnessing his son fighting evenly with Metalla X, which wasn't the case a few moments ago. "But, it looks like he was able to transform, fusing himself with his power by drawing power from his Crest."
"Crest? Which one?"
"The Crest of Legacy is what he inherited, sir."
"Legacy, huh? Well, it certainly is looking to live up to its name," Burizalor commented.
"There is a downside."
"And that is?"
Brakus despondently answered. "He can't control it."
Rearing his right fist back, Nova X caught Metalla X with a straight punch, sending the Ascendant God flying through a glacier. Landing on all fours, Metalla X crash-landed on a heap of snow and quietly glared at Nova X. Clenching his hands, Nova X growled and tried to make sense of his new powers.
"Max? Mind if Agumon and I take this?" Tai asked as he and his partner landed near Nova X's spot. "Hey, you!" Tai threw off his coat as he got Nova X's full attention. "It's about time I got a chance to fight."
Max shrugged. "I wasn't going to argue. Have at you two."
"But, if you two get creamed, Max and I will clean up the rest!" Gojiramon called out.
(Cue Dragon Ball Super: Broly OST - Kakarot vs. Broly)
"Don't worry. It probably won't come down to that," Tai chuckled as he started shuffling his feet and shadow-boxed to pump himself up before the fight.
"I'm ready, Tai!" Agumon said as he shadow-boxed and let out a big Pepper Breath that melted a sheet of snow.
"Judging by the way you fight, you're not different than Yagami, but there's a quality about you that sets you apart from him," Tai addressed Nova X as they made eye contact. Dropping into a fighting stance, the Bearer of Courage beckoned Nova X to attack him. Then, the Crest of Courage symbol glowed and resonated in his chest, which boosted Agumon and allowed him to evolve into WarGreymon.
Readying a similar stance as Tai, WarGreymon let out a fierce roar and flew head-on with Nova X. As the two irresistible forces collided, they clashed and threw fists. Nova X used his new armored wrist gauntlets to counter WarGreymon's Dramon Killers. When Nova X threw a punch, WarGreymon launched himself into the air and spun around like a tornado. Launching himself into Nova X's back, WarGreymon knocked the Ascendant away with his Great Tornado. Greatly irked by WarGreymon's attack, Nova X bleched a green blast at him. Quickly drawing out his Brave Shield, WarGreymon stopped his attack.
Nova X quickly launched into WarGreymon and punched his armored shield, breaking it into pieces. When Nova X reached for him, WarGreymon escaped using Instant Movement. Taken aback by WarGreymon's swift escape, Nova X scanned his environment. He felt an immense pressure above him and saw WarGreymon already forged his Terra Force. Anticipating the attack coming toward him, Nova X caught the hot energy sphere.
"That should hold him steady! Let's give him a team-up attack!" Tai declared as he and WarGreymon cupped their hands in unison. A ball of golden orange energy formed inside the cusp of WarGreymon's hands. A blue sphere formed inside Tai's palms. As WarGreymon launched his Terra Beam, Tai unleashed his Tsunami Wave.
As the two beams coalesced into a spiraling ray of orange and blue light, it collided with the Terra Force and augmented its output, causing it to increase in size. Nova X's eyes widened in shock as the sphere exploded in his face. As the sphere exploded altogether, Nova X was seemingly caught within. Tai and WarGreymon witnessed the mighty Ascendant still standing but with some burn marks on his skin and scratches on his armor.
"Time for phase two, WarGreymon," Tai said as WarGreymon evolved into VictoryGreymon.
Brandishing his mighty Dramon Breaker, VictoryGreymon dove toward Nova X. Swinging his sword, VictoryGreymon attempted to crack Nova X's black armor, but the Ascendant stopped his sword and tossed it aside. The Ascendant quickly ensnared VictoryGreymon's face and prepared to pummel him. Tai quickly came using Instant Movement and kicked Nova X's arm, prompting him to release VictoryGreymon.
"Thanks, Tai. It seems his strength continues to increase," VictoryGreymon assessed.
"Just like Yagami, huh? Still, there's a theory I want to prove," Tai muttered as Nova X dropped into a battle stance and scowled.
"All right, but we can't let this drag out any further," VictoryGreymon nodded as Nova X launched at him with a flurry of punches. Narrowly dodging the Ascendant's punches, VictoryGreymon recalled his Dramon Breaker. The sword floated through VictoryGreymon's will and flew back into the warrior's hand.
Splitting the sword into pieces, VictoryGreymon equipped these parts into his right arm and drew in energy around him. He then focused on the collected energy into his equipped arm and fired it through the tip of his sword. Using Trident Gaia, he intended to take Nova X down. As the attack hit its mark, VictoryGreymon noted it only managed to slow down Nova X briefly. When Nova X rushed for an aerial attack, VictoryGreymon reformed his Dramon Breaker and unleashed his Victory Charge, attempting to reflect Nova X's energy waves. Letting out an intense roar, Nova X pushed back against VictoryGreymon's attack. VictoryGreymon dodged Nova X's reach again and swerved behind him. The two warriors collided a few times, moving so fast that their movements were viewed as shockwaves.
"Stay on him, VictoryGreymon!" Tai called out, realizing his partner wouldn't last much longer on his own. He then saw Nova X punching VictoryGreymon far back. As Tai teleported to his partner with Instant Movement, he keenly eyed Nova X.
Basking in a fiery green aura, Nova X roared triumphantly.
"Now, I'm getting fired up, VictoryGreymon," Tai smirked.
"Let's do this, Tai." With that, he and Tai put their hands together. As the Crest of Courage symbol became emblazoned on his chest, Tai drew in power from his active Ascendant power and VictoryGreymon's energy. As VictoryGreymon turned back into Agumon, the Digimon became digitized light and infused with Tai. Tai's brown hair turned bright gold and his eyes became emerald.
Upon letting out a deafening roar, Tai turned into Omega X and beckoned Nova X to him. The two Ascendants quickly collided several times and soared through the air, devastating sections of the frigid landscape and tearing through a mountaintop. Nova X tossed numerous green blasts, prompting Omega X to stop with an aura barrier. The two proceeded to fly around and collide, causing shockwaves that were felt throughout the frozen landscape.
When Nova X flew and attacked him head-on, Omega X shifted to throwing him off with his Instant Movement. By teleporting across random spots, Omega X was able to keep Nova X off him and tire him out. However, Nova X quickly picked up on Omega X's strategy and caught Omega X behind him. He reached out to grab Omega X, but the Bearer of Courage moved away. Nova X then fired a blast into Omega X and sent him flying into the air. Nova X then soared past Nova X and clubbed him, sending the Ascendant crashing into the frigid ground. The fall caused the ground to sink, causing a sinkhole to form.
As Omega X was left lying in a heap, Nova X hastily dove at the warriors for the finishing blow. Omega X quickly responded by jumping up and kicking Nova X away. Seeing his Ascendant power wasn't going to be enough, Omega X invoked the divine nature within him. His golden aura subsided as a bright red outline materialized around him. His eyes converted from emerald to bright red. His golden hair matched the color of his eyes.
Unfazed by the Ascendant God's transformation, Nova X kept coming. Omega X responded by calmly seizing Nova X's arm and sliding past him, letting Nova X crash headfirst into some ice.

"Hey now, calm yourself!" Omega X called out as Nova X roared and attacked him with reckless abandon, which contrasted with Omega X's calmer demeanor. Focusing on his divine energies, Omega X generated energy, binding the behemoth from attacking him any further.
"Listen, here in the Digital World and on Earth, we prefer to live our lives peacefully," Omega X reasoned with the furious Ascendant. "Sadly, that hasn't always been the case and we've faced a lot of enemies along the way. Funny story, we met and fought someone like you before. His heart was full of malice and he was raised to kill us, especially me. That guy was far beyond reason, leaving a poor French girl in tears. But, I can tell you're not like that guy. You're being misguided."
Nova X's expression quickly changed as his features softened and Omega X's words seemed to reason with him.
"You can stop doing all of this. We don't have to fight anymore. Don't listen to what those guys are telling you. Trust me, nothing good comes out of listening to bad people," Omega X said, not taking his eyes off Nova X.
"You can tell I'm not bad?"
Nodding, Omega X smiled. "I don't have much time left and I'd rather guide guys like you to the right path so you're not causing mayhem."

Suddenly, Nova X's feral nature caused him to snap and nullify Omega X's energy bind. Nova X quickly landed a punch into Omega X's face. Only slightly dazed, Omega X seized Nova X's arm and picked up, slamming him on the ground.
"Tai! Man, that was close!" Max exclaimed. "
"Did he think he could reason with the big guy?" Gojiramon wondered.
"Who knows? But, I don't sense maliciousness from this guy either."
Suddenly, the frozen earth began shattering as the weight from Nova X's fall caused the glaciers to shift. Everyone behind Whismon's barrier was carried away.
"Lord Burizalor, this vicinity is shifting and we can't risk losing the Digicores! Please, send them to us!" Kikonomon pleaded.
"Hm, very well then. Take good care of them," Burizalor replied, using his telekinetic power to send them to Kikonomon.
As Kikonomon, Cheelaimon, and Lemomon caught the Digicores, the mothership took off from the shifting ground. Burizalor set his sights back on the ongoing battle.
"We're now free to witness your son's battle without reservations, Brakus," Burizalor said.
Omega X and Nova X immediately returned to fisticuffs and exchanged heavy-handed blows. Omega X landed quick body blows into Nova X, but the larger Ascendant stopped a few of his opponent's blows.
Witnessing Nova X's intense battle with Omega X, Cheelaimon watched with disdain. "I can't they're just using Kenji and his friend like they're just tools."
"I know," Lemomon added, sharing his disgust.
"It's not right. Kenji is a good boy. It's his father that's forcing him to fight and turning him into a cold-blooded warrior. Kenji doesn't want this!" Cheelaimon said.
"It can't be helped now. He's snapped," Lemomon replied.
"I wish there was something I could do to end this!" Cheelaimon said, seething mad over the situation.
Witnessing Nova X quickly overpowering Omega X, Brakus panicked. "If he keeps going… he's going to get stronger… and he's going to kill us all!"
Rolling away from getting stomped into oblivion, Omega X flew back and created a distance from Nova X. The Ascendant God forged a red variation of the Terra Force and flew head-on with Nova X. Attempting to smash it into Nova X, Omega X became dismayed when Nova X crushed the ball. Then, Nova X grabbed Omega X's arm and nearly crushed it. Omega X jerked his arm away, only for Nova X to grab his foot. Nova X swung Omega X around like a ragdoll and slammed him down a few times. After each smash, Omega X let out panicked gasps. Nova X quickly picked up Omega X and smashed him into a glacier, sliding his face across the frozen object while craving a long trail where Omega X's face was sliding. Nova X quickly discarded Omega X, leaving him lying in a heap.
"Well, well, I guess I won't get a chance to kill that Ascendant monkey after all," Burizalor remarked, relishing every moment of Omega X's humiliation.

"Tai! Agumon!" Max called out as he flew over next to Omega X. "Hey you two…"
"Hey, what's going on out there? Tai? Max?"
Just then, both Omega X and Max heard BanchoLeomon's voice through a telepathic link.
"BanchoLeomon," Max said, putting a hand on his left temple. Closing his eyes, he linked with BanchoLeomon's mind. We're in the middle of a fight here, my friend.
"I can tell. I can sense Burizalor's presence, but there's another I don't recognize."
Would you believe me if I told you it's someone like Yagami?
"Yagami?! There's another one like him?!"
Omega X interjected, listening to Max and BanchoLeomon's conversation. "Yeah, you got that right."
"Sounds like you guys have your hands full with this one. His power feels greater than Yagami's."
"Yeah, he's strong all right."
"Strong is an understatement. I wish I could help, but I don't think my UltimateBanchoLeomon power will be up to snuff to fight this new challenge."
Max nodded. Stand by for now, BanchoLeomon. We might need you and the Bantyo Gang if things get too wild. I'm the next line of defense if Tai falls. He turned and saw Omega X standing up willfully. "Tai, I'll take it from here."
"No, I've got this. As you said, you're the next line of defense if I go down, but I'm not done yet," Omega X said, tearing off a piece of his upper shirt. As he invoked deeper into his divine reserves, Omega X brought out a blue light that wisped over him, converting his red hair and eyes into bright blue. For a brief moment, Omega X's hair turned metallic silver, which caught Max's keen eyes.
Was that Ascendancy Instinct just now? He shouldn't be able to use it again after the ordeal against Zeed X. He has to learn that technique on his own if he wants to use it. Max observed Omega X's aura and hair turning bright blue. "Let's hope this is enough." He watched Omega X, standing in a radiant blue aura, face off with Nova X.
The two Ascendants immediately came into blows once again. The two warriors went into fisticuffs. They flew through the frozen landscape and pummeled each other. Nova X grabbed Omega X, swung him around, and smashed him. As Nova X planted him through the ice, he viciously punched the ground several times. Then, Omega X came shooting out of the ice and blasted him into the air. Nova X flung a barrage of green orbs at Omega X, who deflected them with his punches. Omega X quickly plowed through the Ki barrage and punched Nova X's fist, which ignited an explosion blast.
Flying head first into Nova X, Omega X picked up the Ascendant and flew down, slamming him through several sheets of ice. They ended up landing inside a magma bed. As they briefly fought inside the molten magma, Nova X punched Omega X, prompting the blue-haired Ascendant to bite his hand. After letting him go, Nova X's foot was seized by Omega X, who quickly spun around and tossed him out of the magma. Omega X dove upward and pursued Nova X. Both plowed through the ice sheets, causing a rift to form. Omega X looked up and saw Nova X forging a massive green sphere, which he hurled toward Omega X.
Catching the massive sphere, Omega X tried and failed to push it back. As it made landfall, the massive sphere exploded, causing a bigger rift that split the frozen landscape and caused the underground magma to erupt and pool out. When it was all said and done, the Ascendant's battle turned a frigid landscape into a boiling hellscape environment.

Casting his sights on Omega X, Nova X dove and engaged him in battle again.
"Man, this is getting intense. I don't want to imagine if this guy has a legendary form like Yagami," Max watched in awe of Omega X and Nova X's epic clash. "That said, Gojiramon. I noticed the black armor he's wearing on his forearms and legs."
"What about them?" Gojiramon asked his partner.
"That armor resembles what the legendary Royal Knight would wear. Alphamon. That Digimon partner he has is a DORUmon. So, he has an Alphamon's power but also inherited Alpha X's power from a Crest."
"Oh boy, that's not good. That means we still haven't seen all of this guy's strength?"
Max nodded. "I don't think so, my friend. If this keeps up, I don't think any one of us can stop him from getting stronger. Gennai told me about there being another Crest. Yagami inherited the Crest of Spirit. Then, this guy has the Crest of Legacy."
Overwhelmed with despair, Brakus dropped to his knees. "No, it cannot be. I let it go this far." He looked up at the Digital Knight and flew over to meet him. "Gennai, I'm sorry… I only wanted to get revenge on you for leaving my son and me behind. I hated you for the longest time for never finding us in that horrible world, leaving us to fight for our survival."
"Brakus, listen. We couldn't have picked up your signal. When Burizalor destroyed our world, all communications with other worlds died. And I had to leave with the other Digieggs. I couldn't leave them behind," Gennai explained his reasoning. "Burizalor and his men already took the Crests. It's a miracle I even escaped… and the Chosen needed to receive the Digieggs."
"I let it go this far… I'm sorry… Gennai… I'm so sorry…" Brakus realized his greatest folly.
"Only you can reason with your son, Brakus! Get through to Kenji while you still can!" Gennai pleaded.
"It's too late. He will destroy us all," Brakus muttered as he descended near where Burizalor was. Amid Omega X and Nova X's battle, a shockwave erupted during their brawl, causing a giant rock to collide with him. As he fell to the bottom, he crash-landed where Burizalor was.
"Brakus!" Gennai shouted to his former colleague. He was quickly stopped by Keke.
"It's too late, Gennai. I don't think even you can help him," Keke said.
Watching Omega X and Nova X's heated battle unfold, Sora wanted to help her husband.
"Listen, Sora. I know you want to go out there, but you wouldn't make a difference!" Izzy pleaded with her.
"I know, but I can't just stand here while Tai and Max are out there," Sora frowned, drawing out the Ascendant power from within her.
"Sora," Phoenixmon muttered, getting the urge to fight alongside her friend.
"Don't worry. Mosuramon and I are with you, too," Keke said. "C'mon, Max, do something."
"Ready to go, Gojiramon?" Max asked as if he were answering Keke's pleas.
"I'm with you, Max," Gojiramon said as Max's hair spiked up and became blue. Having gone full-on Super Ascendant God, Max Biomerged with Gojiramon to become Gundammon. "Let's rock and roll." With that, he flew ahead and helped Omega X push Nova X into a rockface.
"Thanks for the save, Max," Omega X smirked.
"Anytime," Gundammon nodded.
As he stirred and came to, Brakus found himself buried in a heap of rocks. He awoke to the sound of Burizalor gnashing his teeth.
"This isn't looking good. Do you think he's truly done this time, Brakus?" Burizalor asked the ex-Digital Knight.
"I'm afraid so."
"I'm not so sure," the icy tyrant said, as a conniving smirk smeared across his lips. An idea quickly came to his mind. "Shall we prove a theory of mine right?" He turned facing Brakus and channeled purple energy in his fingertips. Before Brakus could respond, the tyrant quickly shot Brakus and killed him. Clearing his throat, Burizalor wailed with despair. "KENJI! LOOK! IT'S SUCH A HORRIBLE TRAGEDY! KENJI!" As he did this, he concealed his deception behind an over-the-top performance.
Hearing Burizalor's wails, Nova X ceased his fighting with Omega X and Gundammon. They all turned and saw Burizalor pointing to a dead Brakus.
"YOUR FATHER HAS BEEN KILLED BY A STRAY ENERGY BLAST!"

Upon seeing this father's corpse, Nova X felt a new wave of unbridled emotions of sadness and fury overtake him. His emotional barriers became undone. His limits were broken.
"GRRAAAAAAAAH!" He let out a feral roar and a brighter green aura exploded over him, flaring out like a gigantic fireball. The surge of raw energy tore through the sky and shifted the weather patterns. The environment's colors became inverted and stable several times over. This green aura expanded and pushed his opponents away. Within a massive green column of raw energy, more black armor formed, covering sections of his shoulders, and facial armor resembling Alphamon's head formed. Nova X's upper body grew wider. His hair grew out into spiky blonde hair. The color in his eyes faded and became pure white. Any trace of his humanity was gone and replaced with a feral beast out for vengeance. Any reasoning with him was now gone.
"Yes, that's it! Show me your power!" Burizalor hollered excitedly, relishing his enemies' inevitable defeat.
Unleashing hundreds of stray green blasts all over, Nova X lost every sense of reason and blasted anything in his path. Omega X fired numerous blasts, taking out as many of these stray blasts as he could. At the same time, Metalla X cleared numerous blasts heading toward their friends. Likewise, Gundammon took the initiative and prevented blasts from exploding near Sora, Keke, Izzy, and the others.
"Max, we have to take him down, or else the others will get caught up in the blasts!" Omega X called out to Gundammon.
Gundammon replied. "They'll be fine as long as they stay inside Whismon's barrier!"
"Hey, are you two done talking?! Help me get clear the path!" Metalla X yelled out, prompting Omega X and Gundammon to aid him in neutralizing Nova X's stray blasts that continuously rained all over the valley.
Nova X quickly barrelled his way through his own aura, chasing after Omega X and Gundammon.
"What a lovely sight. Now, that's the fury I've been looking for," Burizalor watched his nemesis being pursued by the enraged Ascendant.
As Metalla X prepared to join in and fight against Nova X, Matt's voice briefly intervened.
Don't worry about Sora, Izzy, and the others. They'll be fine here. Go help Tai and Max while you can! Matt called out from within.
"Feh, who said I'd protect them?" Metalla X scoffed as he flew off toward the fight.
Thanks, Yamakins.
"Whatever," Metalla X scoffed.
"Hey, Sora. Look," Izzy pointed her toward Burizalor, who was relishing over their friends being targeted by Nova X's blind fury. "Even as we've become Ascendants, we don't stand a chance."
"I say we go pay Burizalor a little visit. Whismon, please lower the barrier," Keke requested.
"As you wish but be careful," Whismon nodded. "Just know I won't be joining you to fight."
"That's fine, Whismon," Sora said as she faced Burizalor with a steely gaze. "For some of us, we still owe that tyrant payback for what he did to us." Memories of her being killed by Burizalor seamlessly played in her mind. "And we won't ever forget them."
Likewise, Izzy reflected on his death at Burizalor's hands. "I know we don't have a chance but we won't do it without a lack of trying."
"Don't be foolish, you two. Yes, you've become full-on Ascendants now since the Zamasmon ordeal but Burizalor has his golden form," Gennai warned them.
"That's why I'll be going with them, Gennai. We'll provide that back-up," Keke added as her partner Mosuramon evolved into Mothramon. "Right, Mothramon?" Her partners responded with a loud shriek.
"Are you ready to do this, Sora?" Izzy asked.
"Yeah." With that, the Bearer of Love used her internal Crest of Love energies to combine herself with Phoenixmon. Upon completing their merger, they became the fiery Ascendant Houou X.
Likewise, as Izzy harvested the internal energies of his Crest of Knowledge, the Bearer of Knowledged combined with HerculesKabuterimon to become Kabuto X.
"We're coming for you, Burizalor," Houou X and Kabuto X declared in unison.

Next chapter: The Strongest Fusion vs. The Mightiest Ascendant!
A/N: A fairly straightforward fight chapter. I've covered up to the point where in the movie, Broly goes berserk after his dad dies.
There's more Yagami references and while he and Kenji/Nova X are raging monsters, their upbringings are slightly different. Abusive adoptive human parents raised Yagami and later adopted by Glaven (who uses him as a tool for revenge); Brakus has always raised Kenji and while there is some fatherly care, Brakus still uses him as a tool for revenge. Yagami got the worst deal when it came to parental care. Oh, and Yagami hated Tai for having a more loving family upbringing than him. Kenji doesn't harbor such disdain and only views Tai as just one of Gennai's pawns that Brakus ordered to be eliminated.
After making amends with Gennai, Brakus bites it, Kenji goes AlphaNova X (not full-on yet), and we're about to see where it all leads. Meanwhile, Sora and Izzy are looking to pay Burizalor back for killing them in the Spira arc many sagas ago. Even if it won't amount to much, they're not going down without a fight.
Next time, it's Meta-Fusion time. The return of one of the strongest Ascendant fusions vs. the titanic Ascendant!
