Chapter 9: Face To Face

"I-I understand mate, I'll be there, see you tomorrow," Rad said as he hung up the phone. Rad started breathing hard trying to control himself from having a panic attack. "Rad?" Frisky asked, coming into the living room. Rad while swallowing a hard lump in his throat before he turned and looked at his wife. "What's wrong?" Frisky asked as she sat with her husband. "The Police found the dog who shot Thomas and they want him and I to get a look at him," Rad explained now having a better control of himself. "Oh honey," Frisky said as she hugged her husband tightly. "What is Thomas thinking? I know he wants to put the dog away for good but… I'm just worried for him upon seeing this monster that almost ended his life," Rad explained as he hugged his wife back.

"This might be something that has to happen, maybe facing his fear head on," Frisky said as she and her husband broke their hug. "But, are you ready to face him?" Frisky asked her husband as she placed her hand on his muzzle. Rad looked away from Frisky as thoughts rushed into his mind of how he might react upon seeing the dog who almost murdered his nephew. "I don't know…" Rad said in a whispered. Frisky then placed her hands on her husband's muzzle and made him look at her. "Whatever happens, you two will be there for each other," Frisky said as she kissed her husband. Rad kissed her back and then hugged her, knowing that she was right. "Thank you Frisky," Rad said as he held her close to his chest. "You're welcome," Frisky said as she hugged him back.

After dinner Thomas went into his room and got into his sketch book and turned to the page where he had drew the dog who nearly killed him. Thomas sighed as he looked at the finished art that was right in front of him. Unfortunately for Thomas, he remembered everything about the door who shot him. His eyes, his voice, his fur color under the mask that covered his face. Thomas remembered it so clear as if it happened just yesterday.

(Flashback)

Thomas walked over to where he would find the snacks. He looked around looking for spicy chips that he and his uncle would like for the rest of their trip. Suddenly the door bell rang again making thomas look up and look towards the door. He noticed a grey dog with a mask over his face and a handgun in his right hand and a bag in the other. "Put the money in the bag!" the dog shouted as he held the gun at the store clerk. Thomas got down and started to make his way towards his uncle at the back of the store where the drinks were. "Hurry up!" the masked dog shouted. Thomas quietly made his way closer to Rad until Rad was spotted by the robber. "Listen mate, you don't have to do this," thomas heard his uncle talking while trying to keep his cool. Thomas knew he had to get to his uncle quickly and started to pick up the pace while trying to stay hidden. "Shut up!" Thomas heard the robber reply to Rad as he sounded angry and scared at the same time.

"Just… put the gun down and walk away," Rad said again calmly. "I shut up!" the robber shouted with shaky voice while stepping forward. Thomas knew this dog was losing his cool and was shaky from the jump. He knew he had to do something otherwise his uncle would get hurt or worse killed. Without thinking twice, Thomas jumped up and ran in front Rad while shouting "No!" within that split second Thomas got a good look at the dog and stared into his cold blue eyes just has the gun went off. Thomas felt the gunshot that barely missed his heart and fell down to the ground.

(End of Flashback)

A tear ran down Thomas's muzzle as he wiped it away with his arm before looking back at the picture he drew from his nightmares and scared memory of this monster. Thomas then pklaced down the picture on his desk and went to do his homework. Meanwhile, Bandit and Chilli were in the kitchen putting away dishes and loading the dish washer. "Do you think hes ready for something like this?" Bandit asked as he looked at his wife. "He said he was, he just wants to do the right thing," Chilli said while putting dishes away. "I know, but i'm worried for him and my brother," Bandit said while placing some plates in the dish washer. "The best thing we can do is support the both of them," Chilli said as she placed her hand on her husband's shoulder. Bandit looked at his wife who had a light smile on her face. "You're right," Bandit said with a light nod. Chilli then lowered his head and kissed the top of it. "It'll be okay," Chilli said before hugging him.

The next day…

Thomas and Rad walked into the police station and went into a room with a way mirror. "Okay can you two point out which one of these dogs could be the robber of that store," Hudson said while looking at both Rad and Thomas. Thomas took a deep breath while taking a good look at the four dogs in line. "Take you're time their not going anywhere," Hudson said as he looked towards the line of dogs. "Can the say the line?" Rad asked while placing a hand on his nephew's shoulder. "Sure," Hudson said before ordered each dog to say the line. "Put the money in the bag!" the first three dogs shouted a if they were apart of the crime. The four dog step up and said the line. "Put the money in bag!" the gray dog shouted. Thomas and Rad's blood ran cold from hearing his voice. Thomas made sure to look at his eyes and noticed they were the exact same eyes that gunned him down. "Number four," Thomas spoke up. Rad and Hudson both looked at Thomas surprised by his sudden reaction. "Are you sure mate?" Rad whispered to his nephew.

Thomas then took out his drawing and compared the two from detail to detail. "I'm sure," Thomas said while looking at real dog in from of him and his drawing. "Can I see that mate?" Hudson asked wanting to looking at drawing. Thomas nodded and gave the detective the drawing. Hudson looked at the drawing and then looked at the dog in front of him. Hudson was surprised at exact detail of this drawing to the real thing. "Okay, we have our dog," Hudson said before calling the line of dogs to go back to their cell's. Bandit, Chilli and Frisky stayed in the lobby waiting for Thomas and Rad to come out. "Their they are," Frisky said as she and her brother and sister in law stood up. "So it's over now? Hes going away?" Rad asked as he and Thomas walked out with Hudson. "There will be a trial but after what he did he's going away fro a long time," Hudson explained.

"Good," Rad simply said with a nod. "What was his name?" Thomas asked making Hudson turn his attention to Thomas. "Eddie wolfdog, he won't hurt you or anyone else ever again," Hudson said placing his hand on Thoma's shoulder. "I'm sorry!" a voice said from down the hall. The group turned and looked down the hall and noticed it was Eddie begging for his life to be spared from prison. "Please! Oh please!" Eddie shouted with streams of tears running down his muzzle. "Get him under control!" Hudson ordered while walking towards Eddie. "I promise I'll be better!" Eddie begged again while crying. Eddie was crying and hyperventilating until he turned and looked towards Rad and Thomas. Sparky knew this was the kid he had shot at the store. "I'm sorry mate! I'm so sorry! I was only trying to get money for my wife and kid! I wasn't thinking!" Eddie cried while being dragged away to his cell.

Bandit was about to grab Thomas and turn his son away from Eddie but Rad beat him to it. Rad hugged his nephew and shielded him from Eddie. Rad held Thomas tightly and made sure he wasn't looking at Eddie. "It's over mate, it's over," Rad said softly while rubbing his nephews back. Once Eddie was gone and Rad was able to let go of Thomas, he looked at him and noticed he had been crying against his fur. "It's okay mate it's okay," Rad said as he wiped away Thomas's tears. Thomas then hugged his uncle knowing that it was finally over. Bandit and Chilli both looked at each other before holding hands knowing that the nightmare was over. Frisky then went to her husband and nephew and hugged them both. "Let's go home huh?" Frisky said to both of them they both nodded as Thomas walked over to his parents and Rad walked with his wife out of the Police Station.
