Quirk: Truth Serum/Detective Vision
Wielder: Goro Akechi, AKA The Detective Prince
Truth Serum is a powerful and versatile quirk with interesting and convenient uses. It allows Akechi to confuse, affect, impede, and distort a person's cognition and perception of the world without any long lasting effects. With it he is incredibly adept at coercing confessions, finding hidden people or things, and disrupting even experienced enemies on the battlefield.
How Goro Akechi's quick 'Truth Serum' mechanically functions is widely unknown, but its effects and his popularity have allowed some knowledge despite his sometimes vague statements on the matter. He is able to, upon physical contact, warp and distort a person's perception and comprehension of the world around them. People subjected to Truth Serum experience extreme confusion, memory loss, dizziness, and impressionability. Reports have stated that being affected by the Detective Prince's quirk is not dissimilar to experiences in being drugged or having undergone intense fever and delirium. This impressionability allows Akechi to interrogate unprepared criminals to incredible effect, with many often babbling about their plans and cohorts without a second thought. Akechi is (despite what he may claim) able to use this to great effect in combat, as combatants dazed and confused prove much smaller a threat.
Truth Serum is certainly not infallible nor is it the perfect ace some may think of it as. Great concentration, focus, meditation, or self control can limit or even prevent much of Truth Serum's greatest effects while adrenaline, excitement, movement, and pain can nullify and weaken its grip on a person's mind. It struggles primarily with longevity and in the face of truly experienced foes.
Akechi's other known ability is the ability to detect and 'see' objects or areas that are cognitively significant in the intense or long-term. A weapon used by a guilty killer and soaked in their dread-cognition or a well known criminal hidden in a crowd are psychically highlighted to him, though the reason why they are highlighted is unclear. He has a tendency to call this facet of his ability a separate quirk known as "Detective Vision," but that's primarily due to his PR encouraging it to make him stand out more.
