At One With The Sword! Synchro User "Yaiba Todo"
"After they suddenly infiltrated our school, a three-on-three match betting on You Show Duel School began! The first match ended with Yuzu beating the Xyz user, Hokuto Shijima, and earning the first point!" Tatsuya recaps. "It gave me shivers~!" Futoshi cries. "But Yuya lost the next match against their Fusion User, Masumi Koutsu" Ayu states. "Although it's too bad, that Fusion-using lady was so mesmerizing pretty she have me shiver~!" Futoshi agrees. "Going into the third match with one loss and one win each, it's Gongenzaka against the Synchro User, Yaiba Toudou. And his opponent just instantly Synchro Summoned two monsters!" Tatsuya states. "Will Gongenzaka be okay against those two powerful monsters that appeared out of nowhere?" Ayu asks. "That's Gongenzaka-san to you kids! It is inexcusable that you would call the manly Gongenzaka without an honorific!" Gongenzaka yells. "But worry not! I, the manly Gongenzaka, for the sake of my friend Yuzu, will definitely win and protect You Show Duel School!" He vows.
Yaiba and Gongenzaka face off; both have 4000 LP. Gongenzaka hold four cards and Yaiba three, and while Gongenzaka controls the boosted-to-2500 DEF Superheavy Samurai Kabuto, Yaiba has the 2500 ATK X-Saber Souza and the 3100 ATK XX-Saber Gottoms. "What a guy…!" Yuzu gasp. "He managed two Synchro Summons in just one turn…" She shocked. "What a guy…Instantly Synchro Summoning two monsters in a single turn…" Yuzu amazes. "What's wrong? Are you so scared that ya can't speak?" Yaiba asks the silent Gongenzaka. "A man does not make noise and give into things like panic. Those who wildly flap about can never achieve victory!" Gongenzaka replies. "Quit spouting cheeky bullshit! I'll come at you with everything I've got!" Yaiba comments. "Battle! I'll have my XX-Saber Gottoms attack your Superheavy Samurai Kabuto!" He declares and Gottoms fires a blast from its sword, destroying Kabuto. "Well, how's the sharpness of my X Saber's swords!?" Yaiba asks Gongenzaka. "But I ain't done yet!" He states. "My X-Saber Souza attacks you directly!" Yaiba declares. Souza leaps into the air and swings its swords, unleashing an X-shaped blast of light that pushes Gongenzaka backwards. He remains on his feet, his sandals digging gouges into the earth (Gongenzaka's LP: 1500). "2500 Damage…" Tatsuya amazed. "He managed to stand against it!" Fu6toshi amazed. "WHOA, that's hot-blooded!" Shuzo calls it. "That the heir of You Show Duel School's rival, the Gongenzaka Dojo, for ya!" He exclaims. "Hah! What the heck are you talking about!?" Yaiba asks. "I Set one card face-down and end my turn" He states.
"My turn! Draw! Gongenzaka declares and draws Superheavy Samurai Big Benkei. "It's here! The cornerstone of my Steadfast Duel strategy!" Gongenzaka thinks. "Superheavy Samurai Scales can be Special Summoned when my opponent controls two or more monsters!" Gongenzaka declares. (ATK: 800). "And when this monster is Special Summoned. I Special Summoned a Superheavy Samurai from my Graveyard!" He states."Revive! Superheavy Samurai Kabuto!" Gongenzaka declares, Scales aligns its water pan and Kabuto revives from one of the pans (ATK: 1000). "Unmovable like a mountain…Embodiment of Steadfastness, appear now!" Gongenzaka chants. "I release my Superheavy Samurai Scales and Kabuto…to Advance Summon in Defense Position…!" He declares and both monsters vanish in a puff of green dust, which become twin green pillars that unite, and the limbs of the monster emerge from it. "The Level 8 Superheavy Samurai Big Benkei!" Gongenzaka yells (DEF: 3500). "You Summoned it in face-up Defense Position!?" Yaiba shocked. "Normally you have to Set a monster face-down to Summon it in Defense Position, so how did…?" Tatsuya shocked. "Advance Summoning himself in face-up Defense Position is one of Big Benkei's powers!" Gongenzaka explains. Yaiba snorts "What was the point of doing that?" he asks. "To win without moving! That is the essence of the Gongenzaka Dojo's Steadfast Dueling Style" Gongenzaka replies. "Battle! I'll have my Big Benkei attack your XX-Saber Gottoms!" He declares. "Wha…? It's attacking while in Defense Position?!" Yaiba shocked. "Big Benkei can attack while in Defense Position" Gongenzaka explains. Big Benkei slams its fist into the ground and blasts a flaming wave at Gottoms. "And when it does, its Defense Points are used as its Attack Points for the purpose of battle!" Gongenzaka explains. "Then…" Ayu realizes. "3500 vs 3100!" Tatsuya exclaims. "Which means Big Benkei wins!" The three kids exclaims as Gottoms is destroyed. "I've got shivers~!" Futoshi said (Yaiba's LP: 3600). Gongenzaka looks at his hand which contains Superheavy Samurai Soulbreaker Armor, Superheavy Samurai Soulfire Suit and Superheavy Samurai Soulbang Cannon "Good! The battle formation's now in place" Gongenzaka thinks. "I will end my turn with that!" Gongenzaka states.
"My turn! Draw!" Yaiba declares. "I Summon XX-Saber Boggart Knight from my hand!" He said (ATK: 1900). "When Boggart Knight is successfully Summoned, I can Special Summon one Level 4 or lower X-Saber Monster from my hand!" Yaiba states. "Come on out, XX-Saber Ragigura!" He declares (ATK: 200). "Okay, it's just some small fry monster with 200 Attack Points" Futoshi dismissed. "When Ragigura is Special Summoned successfully, it lets me add one X-Saber from my Graveyard to my hand" Yaiba explains. "I return Faultroll to my hand" He states. "If I control two or more X-Sabers on the field, I can Special Summon Faultroll!" Yaiba explains (ATK: 2400). "I activate Faultroll's effect!" He declares. "Once per turn, he allows me to Special Summon one Level 4 or lower X-Saber from my Graveyard!" Yaiba explains. "Wh~! Another Special Summon?" Ayu unimpressed. "For crying out loud, now he's just playing with himself!" Futoshi comments. "Be revived! Tuner Monster, XX-Saber Fulhelmknight!" Yaiba declares (ATK: 1300), much to the children horror. "Could he be…?!" Tatsuya realizes. "Bingo! I'm Tuning the Level 6 Faultroll with the Level 3 Fulhelmknight!" Yaiba declares. "With your platinum armor shining brightly, shatter the hope of those who dare rebel! Synchro Summon! Come forth, Level 9! XX-Saber Gottoms!" He chants (ATK: 3100). "No way…! Not after the trouble it took to beat the other Gottoms…" Yuya horrified. "But Gottoms' Attack Points is 3100. He's no match for Big Benkai!" Yuzu reassures him. "Right you may be!" Yaiba agrees, sprinting away and swinging his wooden katana hard enough to displace an Action Card. Catching it "Whether this guy's able to overcome him depends on…"Yaiba claims "Yes, I got just the card I needed!" He states. "I activate the Action Spell, Extreme Sword!" Yaiba declares. Yuzu gasps in shock. "During the Battle Phase, Extreme Sword raises the Attack Points of one monster by 1000!" He states. The sword of Gottoms lengthens (Gottoms' ATK: 4100). Yaiba chuckles "This is the real thrill of Action Duels!" He claims. "Battle! I use Gottoms to attack Big Benkei! Smash 'im to pieces!" Yaiba declares and the powered-up Gottoms attacks Big Benkai. "Big Benkai's gonna…!" Yuya gasp in horror. "But he's in Defense Position, so he won't take damage even if he's destroyed" Yuzu reassures him. "Too naïve!" Yaiba calls Yuzu. "Trap, activate! Meteorain!" He declares. "When I attack Defense Position monsters during this turn, and my monster's Attack Points are higher than the defending monster's Defense Points, it inflicts Piercing Damage!" Yaiba explains. "So you'll take 600 points of damage!" He states (Gongenzaka's LP: 900). Flames lick at Gongenzaka's clothes. Everyone in You Show (excepted Sora) gasps.
However, when the smoke clears, Big Benkei is still on the field, "H-How…?" Yaiba asks. "When Big Benkei was attacked, I send the Superheavy Samurai Soulfire Suit in my hand to the Graveyard! By sending this card to the Graveyard, I can negate the destruction of one Level Five or higher Superheavy Samurai I control this turn!" Gongenzaka explains. "Tch…! So you basically gave up a card in your hand to protect your ace" Yaiba muse. "But the Defense Points of the monster I protected from destruction with this effect go down 800 points" Gongenzaka adds (Big Benkei's DEF: 2700). "Ah! His Defense Points fell!" Ayu states. "It's okay. They're still higher than Souza's Attack Points" Tatsuya notes. "But let's see about that!" Yaiba tells them and he draws out his wooden katana again and swings his katana in front of him, which displaces a second Action Card."An Action Card!" Ayu exclaims. But the card goes towards Gongenzaka. "Tch, it's falling near that guy!" Yaiba curse and sprints for the card. "If he grabs that…!" Tatsuya exclaims. "Run for it, Gongenzaka!" Futoshi yells. "I shall not move!" Gongenzaka refused. "Ehhh?!" Tatsuya and Futoshi shocked. "Then I'll just help myself!" Yaiba exclaims and grabs the card. "Oh no, he got it!" Ayu exclaims. "Sweet! I'm super lucky today! I just got another Extreme Sword Action Spell Card!" Yaiba states and activates it. "Souza's Attack Power goes up 1000 points!" He states with the monster's swords lengthening as well (Souza's ATK: 3500). "I use Souza to attack Big Benkei!" Yaiba decalres and Souza attacks Big Benkei. "Thanks to Soulfire Suit's effect, Big Benkei's destruction is negated!" Gongenzaka reminds Yaiba. "But thanks to Meteorain's effect, you still take damage!" Yaiba reminds him. "And it's 800 this time!" He states. This time, the blast of flame flings Gongenzaka backwards (Gongenzaka's LP: 100). The kids gasp in horror "Gongenzaka…!" Yuya whispers. "Thanks to Soulfire Suit's effect, the Defense Points of the monster it protects…lower by 800, right?" Yaiba adds (Big Benkei's DEF: 1900). "Yeah…But at the same time, when the battles ends, Gottoms' and Souza's Attack Points falls back to normal!" Gongenzaka states (Gottoms' ATK: 3100) (Souza's ATK: 2500). "Using a Monster Effect from your hand makes you pretty tenacious. Just the kind of small-minded strategy I'd expect from a big oaf like you!" Yaiba muses. "All it means is the Deck I Believe in saved me!" Gongenzaka replies as he rises to his feet. "Heh…Well that's as far as those shrewd plays will get ya!"Yaiba tells him. "I release Boggart Knight in order to activate Gottoms' effect!" He declares. "He sends one card from the opponent's hand to the Graveyard!" Yaiba states and Gottoms fires a blast at Gongenzaka's hand, turning one of the cards purple. "What!?" Gongenzaka exclaims. "Oh no…! Gongenzaka's hand…!" Futoshi cries out in horror as Gongenzaka is forced to discard Superheavy Samurai Soulbang Cannon. "Now you'll discard your final card as well!" Yaiba tells Gongenzaka. "I also release Ragigura…to activate Gottoms' effect once again!" He declares. "That was his last card!" Tatsuya exclaims. Gongenzaka discards Superheavy Samurai Soulbreaker Armor. "Now your hand's fallen to zero. You could say your current condition leaves you with literally nothing you can do" Yaiba said. "I set one card face-down and end my turn" He states.
"What's he gonna do?" Ayu asks. "The way this is going, Gongenzaka's definitely gonna lose!" She states. "If he had at least grabbed that Action Card before…" Tatsuya laments. "I know, right! Why didn't he grab that Action Card? It's o messed up it's giving me shivers!" Futoshi laments. "No, that's okay. That's just how that guy duels…" Yuzu reassures them.
(Flashback)
Yuzu remembers a time in their youth "Duels are fights using the Deck you believe in. Betting all your hope on some Action Card you don't know the identity of…is asking for a beating" Young Gongenzaka tells a Young Yuzu. "Eh? Not knowing what will show up is all part of the fun!" Young Yuzu protests. "That aside, how are you going to fight with this Deck of yours?" She asks as she whole up Young Gongenzaka's Deck, which is revealed to be composed of only Monster Cards. "Hmph, that's a Deck made around the Gongenzaka Style Steadfast Dueling. I believe in this Deck…That it'll definitely guide me to victory!" Young Gongenzaka replies.

Back in the present "Gongenzaka…Using the Steadfast Dueling you believe in so much…Fight to the bitter end!" Yuzu mentally urges Gongenzaka.
"My turn! Draw!" Gongenzaka declares and draws Superheavy Samurai Soulshield Wall. "Smph!" Gongenzaka smirks. "From my hand, I Summon Superheavy Samurai Soulshield Wall!" He states. "This card can equip onto a Superheavy Samurai, and raise its Defense Points by 1200!" Gongenzaka explains (ATK: 1200). Soulshield Wall equips itself onto Big Benkei (Big Benkei's DEF: 3100). "So you drew a card that powers up your monsters, huh? You lucky bastard!" Yaiba calls Gongenzaka. "It wasn't luck that allowed m to draw this monster. It was my resolve that called it forth!" Gongenzaka replies. "Battle! I use my Big Benkei to attack X-Saber Souza!" He declares , Big Benkei attacks Souza, boosting forward with the rockets on Soulshield Wall and unleashing its flaming shockwave. The attack destroys Souza (Yaiba's LP: 3000). "Sweet!" The kids cheers. "Nice one, Gongenzaka!" Yuzu cheers. "Now you've done it, ya worthless cow!" Yaiba screams. "Trap, activate! Gottoms' Emergency Call!" He declares. "When I control an X-Saber on the field, I can Special Summon two X-Sabers from my Graveyard!" Yaiba states. "Be reborn! X-Saber Souza and Ragigura!" He declares (ATK: 2500) (ATK: 200). "And using Ragigura's effect, I return Faultroll from the Graveyard!" Yaiba states. "After the trouble it took to beat Souza, he's back just like that!" Tatsuya states. "And on top of that, he was able to use Ragigura to get Fualtroll back into his hand!" Futoshi states. "It makes little different of it's the opponent's turn. His monsters will revive one after the other. This explosive situational advantage is the true horror of the X-Sabers" Hokuto comments. "It's rare to hear you praise someone else's Deck. Did losing make you go soft?" Masumi points out. Freezing up and whitening as the expression arrows hit him, Hokuto topples to the floor and slinks back to the corner again. "His Life's at 100 and his hand's at zero. Gon-chan's got no chance of winning now" Sora states. "No, not yet. He still hasn't given up" Yuzu replies.
"My turn! Draw!" Yaiba declares and then reveals the other card in his hand "Hey, do you remember this card?" Yaiba asks Gongenzaka. "XX-Saber Faultroll…When you control two or more X-Saber on the field, he can be Special Summoned" Gongenzaka replies. "That's right. And since I have more than two X-Sabers on the field…I Special Summon Faultroll!" Yaiba states (ATK: 2400). "And I activate Fualtroll's effect!" He declares. "Once per turn, he can Special Summon one Level 4 or lower X-Saber from my Graveyard!" Yaiba states. "Be reborn! Tuner Monster, XX-Saber Fulhelmknight!" He declares (ATK: 1300). "Since he has Faultroll and Fulhelmknight on his field…" Yuzu realize. "Right you are. I'm Tuning my Level Six Faultroll with my Level 3 Fulhelmknight!" Yaiba declares. "Take a good look at the ultimate pair within the X-Saber, XX-Saber Gottoms!" He states. "Synchro Summon! Come forth, Level 9! XX-Saber Gottoms!" Yaiba chants (ATK: 3100). "I then release Ragigura to invoke Souka's power!" He declares. Gongenzaka wonders what Yaiba was up to. "You look pretty confused as to why I'm doing this" Yaiba clams. "But things'll clear up in a sec!" He tells Gongenzaka. "Now battle! Souza attacks Big Benkei!" Yaiba declares. "Why would he do that when Souza's the one with lower Attack Points?" Tatsuya wonders. "By releasing one X-Saber, he gains the effect to destroy an opponent's monster he battle against" Yaiba explains. "Eh?!" The kids exclaims. "It destroys them regardless of Attack Points?!" Fudoshi shock. "Your ace monster that you protected almost religiously…is gonna be cut down like a weed this time!" Yaiba yells. "I activate Soulshield Wall's effect!" Gongenzaka declares. "By sending this card to the Graveyard, and by changing the Defense Points of the monster the card was equipped too to zero…it negates the attack!" He explains. The blades of Souza dig into the ground instead "Shit! But even if you negated that attack, your monster lost its edge along with its Defense Points!" Yaiba points out (Big Benkei's DEF: 0). "My two Gottoms will tear it to shreds, together with your Life Points!" He states. "First, I attack Big Benkei with my first Gottom!" He declares.
"I was waiting for this moment!" Gongenzaka yells. "From my Graveyard, I activate the effect of Superheavy Samurai Soulbreaker Armor!" He declares. "What?! An effect that activates in the Graveyard?!" Yaiba shock. When Gongenzaka removed it from the Graveyard "That card! It can't be!" Yaiba realizes. "That's right! This is one of the cards you sent to the Graveyard from my hand using Gottoms' effect!" Gongenzaka states. "This card's true power shows itself when it's in the Graveyard. If there are no Spell or Trap Cards in my Graveyard, By Banishing Soulbreaker Armor, I can inflict damage to my opponent that equal the difference between my attacked monster's current and original Defense Points" Gongenzaka explains. As Soulbreaker Armor appears on the field "What?!" Yaiba horrified. "Big Benkei's original Defense is 3500" Tatsuya said. "And his current Defense is zero" Futoshi said. "That means the damage is a whopping 3500" Ayu states. "Gongenzaka wins!" The kids cheers. Sora for the first time is absolutely floored, as he drops his lollipop to the ground, where it smashes No way" Sora shock. "In order to be able to use this effect, there cannot be Spells or Traps in the Graveyard. That's why Gongenzaka doesn't use Spell or Trap Cards, and he runs a Full Monster Deck" Yuzu explains. Yaiba was shocked. "A Deck that only consists of monsters…?" Masumi shock. "He's got to be insane!" Hokuto shock. "I see. So the reason you didn't take an Action Card before was for this!" Yaiba realizes. "That's right. After all, Action Cards are a type of Spell Card" Gongenzaka confirms. "Do you see? This is the true essence of Steadfast Duelling!" He asked Yaiba. Connected to Big Benkei by a stream of red energy, Soulbreaker Amor blasts four red orbs at Yaiba. "You have some pretty cool tricks up yer sleeves" Yaiba admits.
"I activate The Quick-Play Spell Card, Saber Reflection, from my hand!" Yaiba declares. "It negates Effect Damage if there are X-Saber Monsters on my field!" He explains. A blue shield appears around him and intercepts the blasts "He still had a trick up his sleeve!" Yuzu exclaims as she looks worried for the first time. "And it inflicts the negated damage to the opposing player!" Yaiba adds. "This is the end! He yells and the shield surges towards Gongenzaka. "Good heavens!" Gongenzaka said as he closes his eyes as the energy surges for him.
Gongenzaka opens his eyes "I activate Superheavy Samurai Soulbang Cannon's effect from my Graveyard!" He declares. "Another card I sent to the Graveyard?!" Yaiba exclaims. "If there are no Spell or Trap Cards in my Graveyard, by Banishing this card…any Effect Damage inflicted due to an opponent's effect is negated!" Gongenzaka explains. "He negated the damage I reflected!" Yaiba furious as Soulbang Cannon sucks in the energy. "That's not all! Furthermore, it destroys every monster on the field, and inflict damage equal to the sum of those monster' Level times 100 to both players!" Gongenzaka adds. Everyone was horrified "What?! The sum of their levels is 33…!" Yaiba gasps. "That means the damage is 3300!" Gognenzaka states. Soulbang Cannon" explodes, and the blastwave shreds all of the monsters on the field, blowing both Gongenzaka and Yaiba off their feet (Gongenzaka's LP: 0) (Yaiba's LP: 0) "That means…" Futoshi realizes "…a draw?" Ayu realizes
As the Action Field fades "Gongenzaka!" Yuzu calls out as she runs to him. "Are you alright? Hang in there!" She asked him as she helps him up. "My apologies. I couldn't beat him, even with my Gongenzaka-style Steadfast Dueling" Gongenzaka apologizing as he sits up weakly. "What are you talking about? You managed to pull off a draw, Gongenzaka! You showed us how strong your Deck really is" Yuzu reassures him. Up in the box "The results of this three-way is one victory, one loss, one draw" Shuzo muses. "Principle Akaba. You bet that if you won this three-on-three contest, you would obtain our Duel School. But the result is a draw. Please retire for today" He tells Himika. "What are you even talking about? This Duel is about settling a score. I shall not retreat!" Himika, having kept quiet so far, stubbornly refuses. "Yes, but the Duel did result in a draw" Shuzo points out. "Then we enter overtime! The Duellists with one victory will now compete. Is that all right?" Himika proposes. "You just came up with that!" Shuzo protest as Yuzu and Gongenzaka came back in, with Yuzu now wearing her sunglasses visors. "Yuzu…" Yuya whispers. "It seems you are ready to fight" Himika comments. "Then we shall also…" She asks as Mausmi nods in agreement. "Wait" A voice tells them, and Reiji steps out from behind the wall where he was eavesdropping from, lowering his hood "I shall settle the score with her" He claims. Yuzu turns and looks at Reiji, and they both stare each other down.
