The Fusing Performers
"The Maiami Championship has finally begun! The first to get a victory for You Show Duel School was Futoshi It was a duel that would give you shivers" Yuzu narrate. "It wasn't much!" Futoshi modestly claims. "Next up was Ayu, but…" Yuzu recalls. "I lost…" Ayu finishes. "That Reira was pretty weird, wasn't he?" Futoshi comment. "He seemed really nervous at first, but I was shocked when he used Fusion in the end!" Ayu admits. "It makes you wonder, doesn't it?" Tatsuya muse. "Next, it's finally Yuya's turn!" Yuzu states. "My opponent is my fated rival who I lost to in our match against LDS…Masumi Koustu!" Yuya explains. "I can't lose this Duel!" He states. "Yuya! Do your best!" Yuzu encourage him. "Yuya! Your fighting spirit! Use it to get a hot-blooded revenge!" Shuzo encourage him.
"Maiami Championship! A festival of Duelists and a gateway to becoming a Pro Duelist! Now all of their burning feelings gather here!" An announcer details the Arc League Championship to the audience. "Let's Blast It!" The announcer declares as Yuya enters the arena. "Yuzu, do your best!" Ayu cheers. "I'm looking forward to a shiver-tastic Duel!" Futoshi cheers. "Stay claim!" Yuzu cheers. Masumi walks forwards and straps on her Duel Disk.
(Flashback)
"Masumi was definitely hostile against Shun Kurosaki…But now…" Yuya wonders as he remembers his first encounter With Kurosaki. "What are you talking about? He's been one of us from the start" Yuya remembers what Masumi told him from the entrances ceremony.
(Flashback ends)
"Just what is going on?" Yuya wonders. Masumi notice Yuya's distraction "Your eyes have no luster" She comments. Yuya flinches as the mental equivalent of a 10-ton weight drops on his head "No, no, no! Last time, I kept think that Yuzu was Ruri and lost! I won't let that happen again!" He protests to himself angrily, remembering that during their last Duel. "In this Duel, I'll show you a me different from the one you saw last time!" Yuya tells Masumi. "Fine by me. This is a tournament match, after all. It wouldn't fell right if you didn't do that" Masumi comments. "Everyone! Thank you for waiting!" Nico thanks everyone. "And now, the match between Yuya Sakaki from You Show Duel School, which teaches Entertainment Duels and…Masumi Koutsu, from today's fiercest competitor, Leo Duel School begins now!" He announces and the audiences gave a big cheer. "Hot-blooded!" Shuzo exclaims. "Get your revenge, Yuya!" Yuzu urges him. "Yuya!" The kids cheers. Hokuto and Yaiba chuckles. Sora notice Kurosaki standing to the side, watching the Duel, and he smiles. "First up is the Action Field selection! The filed card selected randomly by the machine is…! Action Field Oh! Field Spell: Infinite Bridges activates!" Nico declares. A network of crisscrossing railed walkways appears and elevates the two Duelists above the ground "One misstep and it's a headfirst drop into the abyss!" Nico states. "Which of these budding Junior Duelists will bloom in this unnerving Field?" He wonders. "Duelists locked in battle!" Yuya declares. "Kicking against the earth and dancing in the air alongside their monsters!" Masumi declares. "They storm through this Field!" Yuya cries. "Behold! This is the newest and greatest evolution of Dueling! ACTION! DUEL!" Both Duelist chants.
The Action cards scatter "I'll be going first!" Masumi states. "I activate the Spell Card: Gem-Knight Fusion!" She declares. "I can use Gem-Knight monsters in my hand to perform a Fusion Summon with this card!" Masumi explains. "Just like I expected, she's going to do a Hand Fusion on her first turn like last time" Yuya thinks. "The cards in my hand I will fuse are the three Gem-Knight Sapphire, Garnet and Crystal!" Masumi declares. "Strong willed blue! Crimson truth! Eye of quartz! Combine to bring forth a new dazzling radiance in a whirlpool of light! Fusion Summon! Come forth! One who illuminates all with its supreme radiance! Gem-Knight Master Diamond!" She chants (ATK: 2900). "Got your ace out already?" Yuya asks and Masumi smiles. "Master Diamond's ATK is increase by the number of "Gem" monsters in my Graveyard time 100!" She explains. "There are three "Gem-Knights" in her Graveyard" Yuzu notes. "So its ATK will go up by 300!" Gongenzaka notes (Master Diamond's ATK: 3200). "I set one card and end my turn" Masumi states. "Now, it's your turn" She tells Yuya. "Show me just how much you've changed!" Masumi urges him.
"My turn!" Yuya declares, looking at Sora and nodding "Draw!" He said. A Sora and Kurosaki looks on "I activate the Spell Card: Polymerization from my hand!" Yuya declares. "Polymerization!?" Masumi shock. "What a shock! Sakaki has used Polymerization!" Nico shock. "I fuse Performapal Rhyme and Chorus that are in my hand!" Yuya declares. "Resounding arioso voice, Graceful tune! With guidance of the baton, assemble your talent! Fusion Summon! Now come here to the stage! Performapal Soloist Prima!" Yuya chants (ATK: 2400). Kurosaki flinches in horror at seeing Yuya Fusion Summon "Yuya pulled off a Fusion!" Ayu cheers. "Shivers!" Futoshi cheers. "That's it, Yuya! You're dazzling today!" Shuzo cheers. "Once per turn Soloist Prima can banish all Fusion Materials of a Fusion Monster from the Graveyard!" Yuya states. Masumi gasps in shock. "I'll banish the Fusion Materials for Master Diamond: Sapphire, Garnet, Crystal as well as the Spell Card Gem-Knight Fusion! Vocal Fracture!" Yuya declares. "Nice! With those three Gem-Knights banished, Master Diamond's ATK goes down by 300!" Yuzu cheers (Master Diamond's ATK: 2900). "And for the rest of this turn, it's ATK is increased by 200 for each card banished by this effect!" Yuya states (Soloist Prima's ATK: 3200). "On top of lowering his opponent's ATK, he increases his own by 800!" Tatsuya exclaims. "That's not all. A Gem-Knight Fusion used for a Fusion Summon can be returned to the hand from the Graveyard by just banishing one "Gem-Knight" Yuya's move just now makes that impossible" Sora adds. "But you already know this much, don't you?" He muse at Kurosaki. "Battle Phase! I attack Master Diamond with Soloist Prima! Pantomime of the Gifted!" Yuya declares, and Masumi leaps out of the way, onto another bridge as Master Diamond was destroyed (Masumi's LP: 3700). "I set two cards and end my turn!" Yuya declares. "And at this moment, Soloist Prima's ATK returns to normal!" He states (Soloist Prima's ATK: 2400). "Woah, You Show Duel School isn't doing half bad!" Yaiba impressed. "Masumi's hand is at zero!" Hokuto points out.
"My turn, draw!" Masumi declares, getting Brilliant Fusion. "I'm surprised that you can use Fusion, but it this is all you can manage, it won't stand a chance against me!" Masumi admits. "Quit bluffing! Right now, you only have one card in your hand! You can't fuse with just that!" Yuya tells Masumi. "I wonder about that…" Masumi said. "I activate the Continuous Spell: Brilliant Fusion from my hand!" She declares. "With this card, I can Fusion Summon a "Gem-Knight" monster using monsters from my Deck as Fusion Material!" Masumi explains. "Monsters from your Deck?!" Yuya shock. "From my Deck, I'll choose…Gem-Knight Alexandrite, Emerald and Obsidian to perform a Fusion!" Masumi declares. "Taking three monsters from her Deck and Fusion Summoning without having to Summon anything?!" Yuzu shock. "Oh? She's surprisingly decent, isn't she?" Sora impressed. "Gem with facets of noon and night! Brilliant Emerald of good fortune! Sharp jet-black darkness! Combine to bring forth a new dazzling radiance in a whirlpool of light! Fusion Summon! This is my true ace monster! Dazzling maiden, Gem-Knight Lady Brilliant Diamond!" Masumi chants (ATK: 3400). "All right! Show them the power of LDS' Fusion!" Yaiba tells Masumi. "The ATK and DEF of Monsters Special Summoned by Brilliant Fusion become 0" Masumi explains (Brilliant Diamond's ATK: 0). "What?!" Gongenzaka exclaim. "But, by sending one Spell Card to the Graveyard, I can return its ATK to normal until my next turn!" Masumi states. She takes off at a run and Yuya follows "Huh? What's going on now?" Ayu confused. "Action Cards! She's planning on using an Action Card she finds to return Brilliant Diamond's ATK to 3400!" Yuzu frantically explains. "I won't let you! Trap activate! Performance Disorder!" Yuya declares. "It deals 800 damage to my opponent for each "Performapal" monster I control!" He explains. Green lightning strikes and Masumi was thrown off the bridge, (Masumi's LP: 2900) but grabs a pole and uses her momentum to swing around and grab the Action Card. "Now that was amazing! As expected of an LDS elite! She got an Action Card using brilliant movement!" Nico praises. "By sending one Action Spell card to my Graveyard, Brilliant Diamond's ATK returns normal until my next turn!" Masumi states as she sends the Action Spell: Evasion to her Graveyard (Brilliant Diamond's ATK: 3400). "Battle Phase! I attack Soloist Prima with Brilliant Diamond!" She declares and Brilliant Diamond shreds the sound waves that Soloist Prima fights back with before destroying it, throwing Yuya over the railing. "Yuya!" Yuzu horrified, but Yuya manages to grab the railing. "That was a close one! Sakaki manages to grab onto the railing and hold out! " Nico comments (Yuya's LP: 3000). "She had us worrying for a moment there, but…looks like she's back to her usual self!" Hokuto muse.
Yuya steps primly back onto the walkway, and he looks up at Masumi "Now you get it?" Masumi ask Yuya. "This is the difference between our strengths" She states. "I end my turn with this!" Masumi declares. "My turn!" Yuya declares. "If she gets another Action Card, I'll be even at more of a disadvantage! I've got to do something!" He thinks. "Draw!" Yuya declares and draws Performapal Odd-Eyes Miscellanea. "I Set one monster on face-down Defense Position!" Yuya declares. "What's this? Looks like you don't have any options left!" Masumi comments. Yuya looks at the Fusion Cycle Trap Card in his hand "If Masumi is the Duelist I think she is, then I'm sure this will…!" He thinks. "I set one card and end my turn!" Yuya declares. "Huh?" Tatsuya and Ayu surprised. "Just like that?!" Futoshi surprised. "Don't worry, he should be able to endure this much. After all he's been thoroughly taught the fighting style of a Fusion Summoner by yours truly" Sora reassures them. "My turn!" Masumi declares and draws. "At this moment, Brilliant Diamond's ATK become 0 due to Brilliant Fusion's effect!" She states (Brilliant Diamond's ATK: 0), and both Masumi and Yuya sprint for an Action Card "I won't let you get an Action Card!" Yuya refuse. "I won't let you stop me!" Masumi retorts. "I Summon Crystal Rose!" She declares (ATK: 500). "When Crystal Rose is on the Field, it can be used as any Fusion Material needed!" Masumi explains. "I use Crystal Rose as Gem-Knight Tourmaline!" She states. Rays of light refract around Crystal Rose which transform into Tourmaline. "I activate Brilliant Diamond's effect!" Masumi declares."By sending one Fusion Material on the Field to the Graveyard, I can perform a Fusion Summon!" She explains. Three diamonds emerge from Brilliant Diamond's chest. "A Fusion Summon with one material!?" Yuya shock. "This is the power of Brilliant Diamond!" Masumi states. "Using Crystal Rose as Tourmaline, I Fusion Summon Gem-Knight Zirconia! Grind Fusion" She declares as the three diamonds surround Crystal Rose in energy. "Come forth, bewitching and dazzling splendor! Gem-Knight Zirconia!" Masumi chants (ATK: 2900), who leaps in front of Yuya to block his path, allowing Masumi to grab the Action Card without interference. "The Action Card…" Tatsuya bemoan. "Got taken!" Ayu bemoan. "I send one Action Spell to the Graveyard to return Brilliant Diamond's ATK returns normal!" Masumi declares as she sent Miracles to her Graveyard (Brilliant Diamond's ATK: 3400). "Now, Brilliant Diamond will have its original ATK until her opponent's next turn…" Yuzu observes grimly.
"Battle Phase! First, I attack your face-down Defense Position monster with Zirconia!" Masumi declares. Yuya flees as Zirconia shatters his Set Card Miscellanea with a single punch, sending Yuya rolling across the walkway. Masumi walks up to Yuya "Now the only monster you had protecting you is gone" She tells Yuya. "This will finish you! I make a direct Attack with Brilliant Diamond!" Masumi declares and Brilliant Diamond strikes from high. "Trap Activate! Fusion Cycle!" Yuya declares. "I can Special Summon a card used as Fusion Material this turn from my opponent's Graveyard onto my Field in Attack Position!" He explains. "From my Graveyard?!" Masumi shocked. Sora smiles. "The card I choose to summon is Crystal Rose!" Yuya declares (ATK: 500). "A monster Special Summoned by this effect cannot be destroyed by battle this turn!" He explains. "But you'll still take the damage!" Masumi points out and she continues her attack regardless, and Brilliant Diamond strikes Crystal Rose. Yuya's LP takes a large hit (Yuya's LP: 100). "I end my turn here" Masumi states. "If I hadn't Fusion Summon this turn, you wouldn't have been able to use Fusion Cycle. You should thank your luck" She comments. "That wasn't luck…Masumi, you have pride as a Fusion user…I was certain that you'd try to finish me off with a Fusion monster! And that would protect my life and give me the hope I needed!" Yuya replies. "You're quite talkative for someone who only survived by the skin of his teeth!" Masumi muse. "Why don't you just prove to me next turn that you can do something aside from pointless struggling?" She suggested.
"I plan to!" Yuya replies. "My turn!" He declares as he prepares to draw. "With this, you're trying to change yourself into a different Yuya from up until now!" Yuya remembers Yuzu telling his as she returns his Polymerization card. "The you who is trying to become stronger for your friends…The you who is trying to change yourself isn't wrong" Yuya remembers Ruri telling him. "I will become stronger for my friends! This is my resolve!" He vows. "Draw!" Yuya dramatically declares. "I'll show you my radiance right now!" He tells Masumi. "I summon Performapal Minstrel Caroler!" Yuya declares (ATK: 1400). Sora smirks. "I can perform a Fusion Summon of a Fusion Monster that list Minstrel as a Fusion Material without a Fusion Spell Card!" Yuya explains. "He…! Don't tell me he's planning to use my Crystal Rose?!" Masumi realizes in shock. "Crystal Rose can be treated as a necessary Fusion Material for a Fusion Summon!" Yuya states. "I use Crystal Rose as Odd-Eyes Dragon!" He declares and Crystal Rose sends out its light rays, refracting into Odd-Eyes. "So pretty…" A woman amazed. "It's like a dragon is being born from the crystal rose!" Another woman compares. "Using Performapal Minstrel Caroler's effect, I fuse itself and Crystal Rose!" Yuya declares. "Seraph's Melody… Dichromatic Eyes Dragon! Guided by the baton, gather your power! Fusion Summon! Now, come to the stage! Roar your song of victory! Odd-Eyes Bloom Dragon!" He chants (ATK: 1000). The crowd was in awe "That's Yuya's new ace!" Yuzu said. "Without using a Fusion Spell…?!" Hokuto shock. "He did a Fusion Summon using Masumi's cards!?" Yaiba shock.
"I attack Gem-Knight Zirconia with Bloom Dragon!" Yuya declares. "What? Even though Zirconia is stronger?" Futoshi surprised. As Zirconia's eyes glow red and it clashes with "Bloom Dragon who rotates his arms frantically to block the blow "Bloom Dragon is not destroyed when battling Special Summoned monsters, and the opponent takes any Battle Damage I would! And it destroys that monster as well!" Yuya explains. Masumi gasps in shock. "Rebound Howl!" Yuya declares and Bloom Dragon roars a sonic wave that destroys Zirconia. Masumi was blown backwards (Masumi's LP: 1000). "He did it!" Ayu cheers. "That's some big damage!" Tatsuya cheers. "Shivers!" Futoshi cheers. "Now you've done it…But that will be your downfall!" Masumi claims as she gets up shakily. "Trap Activate: Brilliant Spark!" She declares. "When a Gem-Knight on my Field is destroyed, I deal damage equal to its ATK to my opponent!" Masumi explains. "The destroyed Zirconia's ATK is 2900!" Gongenzaka horrified. "If Yuya takes this, he'll…!" Yuzu horrified. "Trap Activate: Odd-Eyes Illusion!" Yuya promptly responds. "It negates an opponent's Trap Card, and lets one of my Odd-Eyes monsters attack again!" He explains. "He did it!" Ayu cheers. "Now he can make a comeback!" Tatsuya cheers. "H-hey look at that!" Futoshi notices something. Masumi slides down a pole "Brilliant Spark's other effect, by sending one Spell Card to the Graveyard, I can negate any effect that negates this Trap!" She explains as Yuya leaps off his own platform. "This is bad! If she gets that Action Card, Odd-Eyes Illusion will get it damage nullification negated since it hasn't resolve yet, and Yuya will lose!" Yuzu panics. "Got it!" Masumi yells as she reaches for the card...and Yuya dives past, grabbing it first. "Wh-what is this!? Sakaki makes a diving catch for the Action Card!" Nico narrates as Bloom Dragon swoops in and catches Yuya. Deposited on a lower platform "You Show Duel School can't lose when it comes to action!" Yuya tells Masumi. "Unbelievable! Why would you jump from that height?!" Masumi shock. "Being one with your monsters is how You Show Duel School Duels!" Yuya explains. "Due to Odd-Eyes Illusion's effect, Bloom Dragon can attack again!" He states. "This is the final blow! I attack Brilliant Diamond with Bloom Dragon! Rebound Howl!" Yuya declares and Brilliant Diamond was destroyed (Masumi's LP: 0). The attack blasts Masumi into the air "Masumi!" Yuya yells in horror. Fortunately, Bloom Dragon saves Masumi "You…saved me?" Masumi surprised. Yuya smiles and nods at her, and Masumi looks away with an irritable blush. Yaiba and Hokuto heave a sigh of relief that Masumi was all right. "This neck and neck fight for Action Cards ends with You Show Duel School's Sakaki's victory!" Nico announces. "Yuya!" the kids congratulate him. "You did it, Yuya! As expected of Yusho's son! Hot-Blooded!" Shuzo over-emotional congratulate him as Yoko and the kids smile awkwardly. "You did it, Yuya…" Yuzu tells him. "Now you understand how amazing I am, don't you?" Sora smiles, thinking, but when he looks back to where Kurosaki was standing, the Xyz user has vanished "What's wrong with him!?" Sora angry. Tatsuya looks at Sora in surprise "Don't tell me he left at the most important part!" Sora asks.
After the day's Duelling, "Yuya using his opponent's monster to do a Fusion Summon gave me the shivers!" Futoshi said. "Well, I'm the one who taught him, so being able to do that much is a given!" Sora comments. "Yuya Sakaki!" Masumi calls out. "Masumi!" Yuya said. "You better plan on winning after you defeated me!" Masumi tells Yuya. Yuya was confused. Masumi approach Yuya "I wouldn't be able to stand losing to someone who doesn't win the tournament!" Masumi warns Yuya. "So, here…" She said as she digs in her pocket and hands the Crystal Rose card to Yuya. "This is…? Crystal Rose?" Yuya recognizes the card. "Why?" He asks Masumi. "You'll need this card to shine again like you did in your Duel today!" Masumi tells Yuya. "Later!" She said and starts to leave. Yuya was about to call out to Masumi "I won't forgive you if you lose, got it?" Masumi warns Yuya. "Masumi! Thank you!" Yuya waves at her. "I'll be sure to shine even brighter!" He tells her.
