The Synchro Dimension - "City"
Yuya lies with his eyes closed "Hey. Hey" A voice calls out to him. Yuya opens his eyes to see Rin leaning over him. "Hey. Are you okay?" Rin asks. Startled by her close proximity, Yuya squeals and sits up, shoving Rin off him and knocking her down the hill into her D-Wheel, knocking the machine over. "Oww..!" Rin said. "And here I was talking to you because I was worried…" She mutters. "What's wrong with you?!" Rin yells. Yuya just blinks in surprise. "Huh?" Yuya confuses.
Evening has fallen by the time Rin finishes working in her D-Wheel "Looks like nothing was broken, but…be more careful, all right. It was a lot of work building this thing" She tells Yuya. "Where are we…?" Yuya asks. "The City! My hometown!" Rin explains, a massive expanse of city blocks over the ocean. "What about the Battle Royale?!" Yuya asks. "Huh? What's that?" Rin asks. "The Junior Youth Championship's Battle Royale! The Miami Championship's…" Yuya starts to explains
(Flashback)
"That's right I…I was being chased by the Duelist from Academia who looked just like Yuzu…the bracelet shined, then that Duelist disappeared, and then this person…" Yuya remembers. Rin lands, flicking her visor up "Yugo!" She yells as she runs over to Yuya. "Great! I've missed you, Yugo!" Rin claims, hugs him tightly. "H-hold on! Yugo!?" Yuya completely caught off gaurd by being called Yugo. Yuya's bracelet suddenly glows again "What the?!" Rin surprises. "It's shining again!" Yuya gasps, and it warps Yuya, Rin and Rin's D-Wheel away.
(Flashback ends)
"Don't tell me I was moved here along with her?!" Yuya gasps.
(Flashback)
And Rin, another girl…who looks just like me" Yuya remembers what Yuzu told her.
(Flashback ends)
"Just like Yuzu…" Yuya whispers as he sees Yuzu's image superimposed over Rin. "Could you be…Rin?" He asks her. "Yeah, I'm impressed you knew my name!" Rin pleased. "Then you're the Kin of Fusion…!" Yuya gasps. "The hell did you say!? Who are you calling Kin!?" Rin angrily snaps, asking. "My name is Rin, get it right!" She tells Yuya, scaring Yuya. Rin turns away in a huff "You really aren't Yugo" She remarks. "Huh?" Yuya confused. "Because Yugo would never get my name wrong" Rin states. "Yugo?" Yuya recovers from his fear at Rin's outburst and remembers what Selena said to him.
(Flashback)
"Oh? Pretty good!" Selena praised him. "You're really just like Yuto and Yugo" She comments.
(Flashback ends)
"Back then…The Duelist who was trying to capture me said she had captured Yuto and Yugo…" Yuya mentions. "What?! You met the girl who kidnapped Yugo?!" Rin asks. "Right before you appeared, I was Dueling her…" Yuya explains. "Who is Yugo!?" He asks. "Where is that girl!?" Rin asks. "I don't know…Right after that, the bracelet shined and she disappeared!" Yuya admits. "Disappeared?!" Rin asks. "And then you appeared…Up until now, the bracelet had shined plenty of times, and it would always happen when I was with someone who looked like Yuzu" Yuya explains.

Yuya remembers his first encounter with Ruri.

"Then when the light finally dimmed, they would be gone…and Yuzu would always show up. So I thought Yuzu had come that time as well!" Yuya explains when Rin did. Yuya gasps. "And the after that the bracelet shined again…and before I realized it, I was here" Yuya muses. "This isn't Miami City, isn't it? The city I lived in…" He inquires. "I already told you that this is The City!" Rin points out. "The City?" Yuya asks. "The town I was born and raised in! A different dimension from Standard where you're from" Rin explains. "A different dimension?" Yuya confuse. "I can't blame you for being surprised, This is your first time crossing dimensions, isn't it?" Rin comments. "I've crossed dimensions?!" Yuya shocked. "Yeah! I've crossed over a ton of times, trust me!" Rin explains. "Although in my case, it just sent me back home" She comments as she and Yuya see people around a fountain. "But of course, the first time I was thrown across dimensions, I was scared stiff!" Rin states. She takes out her Windwitch- Winter Bell card "That was the day when Yugo was kidnapped…" Rin admits. Yuya gasps. "I had thought Yugo was being followed for some time before it happened…I was on the look out for them" Rin explains.
(Flashback)
Yugo-a blue and yellow-haired boy who resembles Yuya-was running down an alleyway. He reached a dead end. This game of tag is over" Selena tells him and Yugo turned in fear as Selena – concealed in a dark cloak and mantle – approached him. "Now then, come with me to the Professor's side!" Selena tells Yugo. Rin drove down the street "Damn…where is he!?" Rin cursed. "Yugo!" She calls out. She started in surprise to see Selena hefting Yugo over her shoulder, and she dismounted "You bastard! Where are you taking Yugo!?" Rin angrily asks. Selena turned and sneered at Rin. "What the!? The same face as me…?!" Rin shocked. "I activate the Spell Card: Violet Flash!" Selena declares, and a violet light blinded Rin. When it faded, Selena and Yugo had vanished "Yugo!" Rin screams, looking around "Damn it!" Rin yells in frustrations. Her Duel Disk glowed green and Windwitch- Winter Bell card emerged from it. "Winter Bell? Wh-why is it…?" Rin confuses. Rin takes the card, and there was a flash of light.

When I came to, I realize I was in Heartland" Rin states. "Heartland? In the Xyz Dimension?" Yuya asks Rin as he sits on the hillside with her. "That's right" Rin confirms it. "I still don't know why I was brought there" She admits.
(Flashback)
"What the hell is this place?" Rin wonders as she looks around Heartland. "I had thought maybe Yugo was somewhere inside this ruined city…I looked all over" Rin explains. Rin stops "Yugo! Yugo are you here!? If you are, the answer me! Yugo!" Rin calls out, but to no avail. "You're!" She gasps when she saw Ruri. "I've finally found you! I won't let you get away!" Rin yells. "You're from Academia as well!?" Ruri asks. "Huh?!" Rin confused. "I'm asking if you're a Kin of Fusion or not!" Ruri states. "Who the hell you calling Kin?! My name is Rin! I won't be satisfied until I thrash you!" Rin angrily told Ruri. She activated her Duel Disk, and Ruri did the same "So you are from Fusion!" She snarls. Ramping off the building, "Did you not hear me?!" Rin told Ruri. "Duel!" Rin and Ruri yell out.
(Flashback ends)
"So your Dueling opponent was…?" Yuya asks. "An Xyz user with the same face as me! I found her to get Yugo back…" Rin explains. "You've got it wrong! That person was Ruri!" Yuya tells her. "Ruri?" Rin asks. "Ruri is trying to find Yuto who was captured from the Xyz Dimension!" Yuya explains. "There's no way that Ruri would kidnap someone precious to you!" He states. "P-Precious to me!?" Rin yelps, blushing. "Isn't that it? Yugo is your lover, right?" Yuya points out. "Nononononno!" Rin frantically protests. "We're just childhood friends!" She explains "We aren't really lovers…! Besides, we haven't really done anything…" Rin rambles.
"But then, why were you sent to Heartland?" Yuya asks and Rin holds up Windwitch- Winter Bell "This girl let me chase after them!" She explains. "It must have understood my feelings of wanting to save Yugo" Rin states. "Then that means the girl who kidnapped Yugo…" Rin realizes in shock. "…might have been there!" Yuya realizes in shock.
(Flashback)
"She must have been nearby when you were Dueling Ruri!" Yuya states. Rin and Windwitch- Winter Bell were facing off against Ruri and Lyrilusc - Assembled Nightingale, Selena was shown around a corner, smiling evily.
(Flashback ends)
"What!? So it was all a misunderstanding?" Rin asks in horror. "That's got to be it. The Duelist who tried to kidnap me looked a lot like Ruri! Those two, and you…And Yuzu too" Yuya admits. "When I was with Ruri, Yuzu appeared! And when I was about to be captured by that person, you appeared!" He points out. "It may not be a coincidence…" Yuya states. "Not a coincidence…? Then that means Windwitch- Winter Bell had been guiding me this entire time?" Rin wonders. "I don't know. But just maybe, you girls…" Yuya said. "You girls?" Rin asks. Yuya nods "All of you with the same face are being drawn towards each other!" He theorizes.

Rin remembers Yuzu interfering in her Duel with Ruri

"That's right…back then, that girl had the same face as me…" Rin realizes. "No no no, hold on! It's just a coincidence that someone who looked just like me was there! There's no way…" She tries to call it. "It's not just you!" Yuya reminds her. "Huh?" Rin confuses. Rin sees Yugo superimposed over Yuya's face. "Don't tell me…" Rin gasps. Yuya nods. "I have to other people aside from Yugo who look just like me. One is Yuto, the other is Yuri!" He explains. "Yuri?" Rin asks. "He is a Duelist from Academia, just like the girl who kidnapped Yuto and Yugo!" Yuya explains.
"Our world is split into four dimensions. Fusion, Synchro, Xyz and Standard. Academia from the Fusion Dimension is working to make all four dimensions one!" Yuya explains. "All four into one?!" Rin shocked. "And to accomplish that, Academia even started wars!" Yuya states. "They went that far?" Rin comments. "So then this Yuri is a comrade of those who kidnapped Yugo? And is a part of their troupe?!" She asks. "Yes…" Yuya admits. "But right now, he's being chased by Academia!" He states. "Chased? Why?" Rin asks. "The tyrant of Academia, the Professor, is trying to collect Yuto, Yugo and boys who look just like us! That's why I'm sure he's after Yuri too…" Yuya explains. "I don't know why the Professor is trying to capture all of us…Or why the four of us all have the same face…And also why the four of you do as well" He states. "I've got it!" Rin exclaims. "Huh?" Yuya asks.
Rin gets up "That all aside, Yugo is at that Academia place, right?" She comments. Rin puts her hands on Yuya's shoulder "Let's go!" She said. "Go? Where?" Yuya asks. "Isn't it obvious?! If we know where Yugo is, all we gotta do is sneak in and take him back!" Rin explains. "Sneak in? You mean Academia? How?!" Yuya ask. "We just have to use this!" Rin said as she holds up Yuya's wrist. "Huh?" Yuya confused. "This bracelet has the power to cross dimensions, right? That's what brought you here!" Rin comments. "If we make this shine…!" She states. "We can't…" Yuya states. "Why?" Rin asks. "Because I'm not the one making it shine" Yuya points out. "Huh!?" Rin shocked. "I told you, didn't I? This thing only shines when I'm with someone who looks like Yuzu and right when Yuzu appears!" Yuya reminds Rin. He gets up and walks away "Then we just have to bring that Yuzu girl here!" Rin suggests. "That's why we can't…" Yuya sadly states. "Why can't we?!" Rin asks. "Because…Because…Yuzu…Yuzu isn't here!" Yuya sadly states as he turns around and he begins to sob, sinking to his knees and crying into his hands. Rin awkwardly stands up and, search her jacket and pats her shorts "Here" Rin said as she hand Yuya an handkerchief. "Sorry" Rin apologizes. "My bad…" She admits. Yuya takes it "Thank you" He said, drying his eyes. "If I could use this bracelet to freely cross dimensions, I'd want to go home right now! Where Yuzu, Mom, and everyone else is!" He explains. He sees Yuzu and Yoko in the sky, along with Gongenzaka, Tatsuya, Ayu, Shuzo and Futoshi. "Why can't you do something with that card's power?" Yuya asks Rin. "Sorry…I can't make this girl shine on my own either…" Rin admits. "I'm really sorry about that!" She apologizes profusely. "I always say what comes to my mind…Yugo would always lecture me about thinking before I speak" She explains. "Huh?" Yuya confuses. "He always would give me an earful! It was like that, don't do this, do that…" Rin explains. Yuya giggles "He sounds like a dad!" He comments. "I know, right!" Rin agrees. "Well, Yugo and I don't know what our real fathers look like, though…" She admits. "Huh?" Yuya surprised by the statement.
And then suddenly they hear a scream. Both Yuya and Rin turn to see a child tottering towards Rin's D-Wheel, but the boy's mother, a woman dressed in expensive clothes, quickly grabs him "Don't touch that!" She scolded him. "Crap!" Rin yells and she runs down to her D-Wheel. "Why would you do that?! What if you got infected?" The boy's mother asks her son. "What's wrong, Rin?!" Yuya calls after her, asking. Rin frantically enters a command in her D-Wheel. "Someone! Someone come here!" The woman calls out. Rin withdraws a red, yellow and white helmet. "Anyone!" The women calls out. "Rin!" Yuya calls out. "Put it on!" Rin tells Yuya as she tossed the helmet to him. "What's wrong, what happened?" A stocky man in suits asks the women as he and other stocky man in suits approach her. "Over there…! There are Commons over there!" The woman gasps. , and the two men turn towards Rin and Yuya "You're Commons?!" One of the men asks. "This villa is for Tops only!" The other man claims. "This is bad…!" Rin gasps. "Get on!" She tells Yuya. "Huh? Why?" Yuya asks as he puts on the helmet. "Everyone, get over here! Some Commons have snuck in!" One of the men calls out. "No questions, just get on!" Rin angrily yells at Yuya, starling him as the visors lowered. Rin starts up her D-Wheel. "Hold it!" A man yells as he tries to block their way, but they speed towards him. He dodges just in time. "Are you okay?" One of the stocky men asks. "Contact Security!" The man yells at the stocky men.
As they drive along a highway "Hey…why did we run away all of a sudden?" Yuya ask. "That's a Villa Area for Tops only. I had a feeling it was, but I got caught up talking and didn't leave in time!" Rin explains. "Why do we have to leave? What are Tops?" Yuya confuses by the term. "Tops are the elite who control most of City's wealth and influence!" Rin explains. "The elite?" Yuya asks. "The part of City where I was raised was a dog-eat-dog competitive society" Rin explains. As they cross a tunnel "The ones who gained everything…And the loser lost everything" Rin explains. "Huh? Why?!" Yuya protest. "That's the competition! The ones who win are Tops. Those guys controls 99% of this city's wealth. While all the rest of us are left with a mere 1%!" Rin comments. "That absurd!" Yuya exclaims. They emerge into a brightly lit city block, skyscrapers and lights reminiscent of Heartland prior to its destruction all around them. "It's so pretty!" Yuya calls it as he marvels at the lit cityscape. "Amazing, isn't it? This overflowing light…" Rin agrees. "Who knows how much wealth is gather here…" She wonders. "But underneath it all…" Rin tells Yuya. Yuya looks down and gasp to see the brick buildings. "The other 99% of the population lives there!" Rin explains. "Huh?" Yuya confused. "That's where those who have fallen out of the race for wealth, the slums. My true hometown where I was raised!" Rin explains. Yuya gasps in shock.
(Flashback)
"Tops call those of us who lives in the slums commoners, or Commons for short. They treat us equally on the surface, but they really think us as losers and quitters" Rin explains. "But not all of us are like that!" Rin states as she remembers Dueling with Yugo in their childhood. "I Synchro Summon Icicle Bell!" Rin declares. "I Summon R-Genex Turbo!" Yugo declares. "If the City was a society based on winning, all we would have to do is win our way to the top. That's what Yugo and I decided to do and practiced our Dueling since we were kids" Rin explains.

"There was a guy from the facility I was raised in who made a debut like that!" Rin explains. "Look, you can see him right now!" She tells Yuya. Yuya sees a blonde man in a white coat plastered all over the billboards "The Duel King, Jack Atlas!" Rin states. "Duel King?" Yuya asks. "He's the first king who was born a Commons! He won the greatest Dueling Tournament in the City, the Friendship Cup! And climbed his way to the top in an instant! He's our hero!" Rin explains. "If he can do it, then there's no way I couldn't!" She states. "Yugo and I both polished our skills just like Jack did…And planned to enter in the Friendship Cup eventually. And fight against Jack…That's what we thought…" Rin explains. "Rin…" Yuya whispers. "I build this D-Wheel with Yugo, you know! In order to face Jack in a Riding Duel!" Rin explains. "Riding Duel?" Yuya asks.
"Attention D-Wheel! Pull over immediately!" A voice rings out behind them, tells them. "This is Security!" The speaker, a police officer riding his own D-Wheel, explains. "Attention D-Wheel, pull over immediately!" He tells them. "Damn! Those guys from earlier reported us!" Rin cursed. She accelerates, speeding down the highway with the officer in pursuit. "Wait! You're not going to stop? Isn't that the police chasing us?" Yuya asks. "They're just the Top's dogs! Recently, they've been after us Commons even more!" Rin scoffs. "But that doesn't mean you should run away from them…!" Yuya points out. "If we're caught we get sent to their internment camps!" Rin tells Yuya. "Internment camps!?" Yuya shocked. "I bet that we were accused of trespassing into the Tops' Villa and injuring the resident there! And they're out to arrest us!" Rin explains. "That's ridiculous!" Yuya protest. "It is! The Tops and Security both are!" Rin replies.
In Security, "The fleeing D-Wheel is currently on the 8th lane, and is being pursued by Duel Chaser No. 227" One of the technicians explains. "The named D-Wheel does not appear to be complying with the orders to halt" She explains. "Requesting to resort to brute force" The technician requested. The Director of Security moves a white pawn forwards on a chessboard "You're authorized to Duel" He grants them permission. "Immediately capture those who would not listen to the orders of Security" The Director orders. "Roger!" The Duel Chaser replies. "Now beginning Forced Duel, Field Spell: Speed World Neo, Set On!" He declares. "Duel Mode On! Autopilot: Standby" His D-Wheel declares and a purple pulse of light spreads across the sky. "Duel Mode On! Autopilot: Standby" Rin's D-Wheel declares. "Wh-what is this?!" Yuya confuses. "It's a Forced Duel! If you lose, you're arrested!" Rin explains. "Arrested?!" Yuya shocked. Hexagonal pillars emerge from the ground "It's a Duel!" A Common cheers. "A Duel is beginning. A Duel is beginning. All vehicles, please leave all indicated routes immediately. A Duel is beginning. A Duel is beginning. All vehicles, please leave all indicated routes immediately. A Duel is beginning." A voice repeatedly declares as pillars splay out into road sections which sprout side-shoulders and Solid Vision bars. Yuya watches the other vehicles leave the route "What was your name?" Rin asks. "Huh?" Yuya asks. "I haven't asked you name yet" Rin points out. "I'm Yuya. Yuya Sakaki" He tells her. "All right, hold on tight, Yuya! I'll show you what a Riding Duel is!" Rin tells him. She and Duel Chaser 227 speed down the road, turning onto one of the spread-out roads "Riding Duel, Acceleration!" Both of them declare.
