Invitation to the Dark Duel
A limousine drives down thought The City. As the limousine stops, Gallagher gets out of it, followed by Dennis and Gongenzaka. When they walks through the alley, Gongenzaka stops short "I'm not going" He refuses. "Instead of Duelists we don't know, we should be looking for Yuzu…" Gongenzaka reasoning. "H-hold on a second, Gon! It could be possible that Yuzu is here, right?" Dennis points out. "Yuzu, here?" Gongenzaka confuses. "Yes, since our objective as Lancers is to find strong Duelists, and make them our allies right? Then maybe Yuzu already caught wind of this place…get it?" Dennis points out. "But are they really here? I can't imagine there being strong Duelists in a place like…" Gongenzaka expresses scepticism. "Are they really here, you say!?" Gallagher irritated. "You think I, the ever-capable Gallagher the Promoter, am just making this up?! Huh!?" He asks them. "H-Hey!" Gogenzaka exclaims as Gallagher grabs him by the collar and then Dennis and drags them into a building. "Let go of me!" Gongenzaka struggles.
Gallagher opens a panel and enters a code into an elevator, revealing a new floor on the display. "This is the place! See for yourself if I was lying or not!" Gallagher tells them as the door opens. The two Lancers look in shock at a huge arena packed to the brim with people, with a track in place. "What is this place?!" Gongenzaka asks, and Gallagher drapes his arms over the Lancers' shoulders "This is City's greatest Underground Dueling Ring! Where tons of high-stages illegal Gambling Duels take place! A gathering place for darkness!" He explains. "Gambling Duels!? You brought us to such a place-!" Gongenzaka outrage that Gallagher brought them to such a place. Dennis gasps, pointing to the Duelists down below "What is it?!" Gongenzaka asks as he looks down. "Kurosaki!" Gongenzaka gasps as Kurosaki was displayed on the screen. Down in the arena Kurosaki and his opponent were riding D-Wheels, "Xyz Summon! Come forth! Rank 4! Raidraptor - Rise Falcon!" Kurosaki chants (ATK: 100). "I was wondering what the rumoured Xyz Summon would be like, but…To think it was just a 100 ATK monster…" Kurosaki's opponent, Mukuro Enjo, comments. Kurosaki smiles "Rise Falcon's effect!" He declares. "By using one Overlay Unit…It gains ATK equal to the total ATK of all of my opponent's Special Summoned monsters!" Kurosaki explains, and purple flames rise off Mukuro's Supersonic Skull Flame and Burning Skull Head. Flames surround Rise Falcon (Rise Falcon's ATK: 3700). "What!?" Mukuro asks. "Battle! Raidraptor - Rise Falcon! Rend and tear all! Brave Claw Revolution!" Kurosaki declares. Rise Falcon" swoops down and destroys the two monsters (Mukuro's LP: 0), causing Mukuro to decelerate, while Kurosaki speeds past "Kurosaki! Kurosaki! Kurosaki!" The crowd cheers his name.
Kurosaki meets up with Dennis and Gongenzaka "Why you ask? To find strong Duelists obviously!" Kurosaki explains. "See? There really are stronger Duelists in an underground place like this than in the main streets!" Dennis comments. Kurosaki gets up "I had heard that in this Underground Arena, there were truly high-level matches taking place…but they all bore me. Every single one of them are just talk and none with any real merit!" He explains. Gallagher "This guy is on a 9-win streak right now with that Xyz Summoning of his!" He explains. "Well, that doesn't really surprise us at all though" Dennis comments. "So it seems. I see, so you guys were originally comrades? No wonder then" Gallagher comments. Kurosaki snorts "Xyz learned at LDS is merely an imitation!" He calls it. "Oh? Is that so?" Dennis asks. "But your Xyz monsters aren't really that strong, themselves are they?" He points out. "What was that?!" Kurosaki angrily turned asks, but Gongenzaka steps in "Quit fighting" He tells them. "Kurosaki, where are Yuzu and the others?" Gongenzaka asks. "No idea. I arrived in this dimension alone and come to this place alone. I assumed the others got lost while travelling between dimensions…" Kurosaki replies. "You haven't been looking for them?!" Gongenzaka furious. "I'm looking for strong Duelists! Because that was our reason for coming here" Kurosaki reminds him. "But searching for your fellow Lancers takes priority!" Gongenzaka yells. "Lancers? What's that? And you've been going on about dimensions and whatever too…" Gallagher asks. "Actually, we've came from the Standard Dimensions to this Synchr-" Gongenzaka begins to explain, but Dennis elbows him in the stomach "What are you doing?!" Gongenzaka asks Dennis. "Now now… Dennis calms Gongenzaka down. "Let's leave all that aside for now!" He reassures Gallagher in was nothing. "What?!" Gongenzaka asks. "Talking about all the other dimensions stuff would be a real hassle after all…" Dennis whispers to Gongenzaka. "Hey! What're you whispering about!?" Gallagher suspicious. "Oh, nothing much!" Dennis shrugs his questions off. "So basically, Kurosaki was just too strong, so that's why you called us here?" He asks. "That's right!" Gallagher agrees. "I was on the lookout for some capable newcomers and found you guys. Especially you, Dennis!" He explains. "You have the makings of a star!" Gallagher states. Taking off his glasses "After so many years in this business, I've got an eye for these things" Gallagher explains. "Wow, I'm glad you think that of me, Gallagher!" Dennis modestly and politely claims. "Dennis, don't tell me-!" Gongenzaka angrily tells Dennis. "Yeah! I might give it a try!" Dennis replies. "Gambling Duels?! Unforgivable!" Gongenzaka calls it. "But Dueling here is quite strange…Doing it while riding those motorcycles…" Dennis points out. Gallagher puts his glasses back on "D-Wheel" He explains that what they're called. "What!? Is that your first time seeing a Riding Duel?" Gallagher asks them. "Riding Duel?" Dennis and Gongenzaka repeat the name in surprise.
"Riding Duels were originally a way for us Commons to play" Frank explains to Yuzu and Sawatari. "Play?" Yuzo asks. "Crow said that some crazy guys started it off by zooming around the city Dueling! Right?" Frank explains. "Yeah! Eventually, they got ahead of themselves and went and started using the highway that runs straight through the City! Apparently those Tops guys who scorned us were shocked with their eyes wide open!" Tanner adds. "Dueling alongside speed, huh? It certainly does sound like an exhilarating activity!" Sawatari comments. "Riding Duels were a symbol of our freedom! That's why it instantly became very popular! Everyone couldn't wait their turn to show it off to those Tops!" Frank states. Amanda sits down beside Reira "Hey, don't you want to go over there and talk with everyone else?" She asks him, but Reira turns away. "Damn it. How long must we remain in this place?" Yuri waiting impatiently on the couch. "But they didn't just let it happen…Claiming Riding Duels were disrupting the peace of the City, Security made a move. That's what their special unit, the Duel Chasers, are for!" Frank explains. "Duel Chasers?" Yuzu repeats the term. "Security that rides D-Wheels! If you lose to them in a Duel…" Franks explains. "You're arrested on the spot and sent to the camps!" Tanner explains. "Without even a trial?" Sawatari surprised. "Security really is horrible…" He comments. "Back then…If Crow hadn't came…I'm sure we would have been…" Yuzu remembers when Crow saved them.
"Security aren't the only horrible ones!" Crow's voice comments. "Crow!" The kids greet him. "Those bastard Tops took Riding Duels away from us!" Crow states. "Took them? Then right now, no Commons are doing it?" Sawatari asks Crow as he puts down his shopping. "They're having us do it. Just as a show to entertain those Tops bastards!" Crow explains. "A show!?" Yuzu shocked. "When a chase starts on the highway, the road is sealed off and broadcasted on TV! And the Riding Duels that were originally meant to blow away those Tops became their pastime!" Crow explains as he unpacks his shopping. "If you go out now, Yuzu, you'll get surrounded and be put in a live broadcast. If you don't want to shame yourself in front of them you can't act yet" He adds. "The same goes for you!" Crow tells Yuri. Yuri gets up "So the city is covered in Security, you're saying? That's why you came back with your tail between your legs" He observers. "What was that?!" Crow not happy to be called a coward. "Hey!" Yuzu exclaims. "You have no information on Yuya?" Yuri asks. "Yuri! Crow has already done so much to help us…" Yuzu protests. "Even if you work hard, if you don't get any results, it's meaningless!" Yuri replies and he begins to head for the door. "Hey! Where are you going?" Yuzu asks Yuri. "Isn't it obvious? I'm going to search for information on my own" Yuri replies. "If you want to get caught that badly, then go right ahead!" Crow snorts, telling him. Sawatari gets up "Then I guess I'll go right ahead as well" He asks Crow. "Being cooped up in a place like this is suffocating! I'm going to find leads to where Reiji Akaba is" Sawatari states. "Brother…?" Reira hearing his brother's name gets up and begins heading out with them. "Hold on! If you just go off on your own like that, we'll be split up again-" Yuzu protest. "Reira!" She stops him leaving as Yuri and Sawatari leaves. "Ah jeez, now what do we do…" Yuzu wonders as she holds on to Reira.
"I see!" Dennis snaps his fingers. "A high-speed Duels while riding a D-Wheel! That's what a Riding Duel is!" He comments. "Sounds fun!" Dennis admits. "What seems fun about it?!" Gongenzaka angrily asks. "We don't have time to be pawns in their Gambling Duels!" He exclaims. Dennis laughs and turns to the window "But it is very enticing…" Dennis points out. "Kurosaki! Kurosaki!" The crowd chants. "It makes my entertainer blood boil! It wants me to change that Kurosaki chant into a Dennis one!" Dennis admits. Gallagher laugh "Well said Dennis!" He congratulates Dennis. "I knew I had the right idea when I picked you!" Gallagher comments. He slaps Dennis on the back, knocking him next to Kurosaki "All right that settles it! Let's have it right now! The Kurosaki vs Dennis Duel!" Gallagher asks. "Kurosaki! Don't tell me you're going along with this!" Gongenzaka tells Kurosaki. "If you win 10 matches in a row in this Underground Arena, you're allowed to participate in the Friendship Cup!" Kurosaki explains. "Friendship Cup? What's that?" Gongenzaka asks. "The City's greatest Duel tournament! It acts as the symbol of reconciliation between Tops and Commons! Tons of strong Duelist are selected and gathered, It's a once a year festival, and the winner…" Gallagher explains. He slaps his hand down on a poster of Jack. Dennis and Gongenzaka gasps, and Kurosaki grunts. "is given the right to fight the Duel King, Jack Atlas!" Gallagher declares. "Duel King? So that means he's the strongest Duelist?" Dennis asks. "You're asking if he's strong? Of course he is! Jack is the City's….no, the world's greatest monarch!" Gallagher replies. "Then that settles it Gon!" Dennis states. "What?" Gongenzaka confuse. "If we enter the Friendship Cup, we'll meet tons of strong Duelist! And in the end, we'll be able to fight the King! It's perfect for achieving our objective as Lancers!" Dennis explains. "The who will fight the King…is me!" Kurosaki interrupts clams. "I wonder about that…We won't know unless we try" Dennis replies. The two Xyz users stare each other down "You guys…" Gongenzaka groans in exasperation.
Later, Gongenzaka sits in the commentary box with Gallagher "Why did it come to this…" Gongenzaka asks. Gallagher laughs "All of you looking to make a quick killing, I the ever-capable Gallagher the Promoter, will let you see your dreams today!" He tells the crowd. "Next up Kurosaki, will make his attempt at his 10th consecutive win! If he wins this, he'll finally obtain his qualification to enter the Friendship Cup! But it's not going to be that easy for him! And here to bar his way is this man!" Gallagher explains. "A powerhouse of a newcomer that caught my eye! His name is Dennis Macfield!" He declares as Dennis enters the arena on a D-Wheel and wearing a Riding Duel outfit. Dennis removes his helmet and sits up on his D-Wheel "Yes! I'm an entertainer!" Dennis calls out. "I'll be your guide thorough this fun show coming up now!" He comments. "Let's enjoy!" Dennis declares as he takes out flower bunches from his helmet "Showtime!" Dennis declares as he tosses them into the air. "Next is the entrance of the champion, Kurosaki!" Gallagher declares, and Kurosaki enters the arena. "This match will also be following the unique rules of our Underground Duels, making it a handicap match! Our newcomer Dennis will have 4000 LP! And our 9 consecutive win holder, Kurosaki…" Gallagher states. Geysers of steam erupt around Kurosaki and rock his D-Wheel "Will start with a starling 1000 LP! But even 1ith 1/4th of his usual LP, Kurosaki's true style won't budge!" Gallagher explains. "But I Gallagher, can guarantee that Dennis' skills are the real deal!" He vouches. "If they want to make a killing, they'll bet a ton on Dennis!" Gallagher tells the crowd. "I'm betting on Dennis!" A woman yells. "Put everything I have on Kurosaki!" A man declares. "All of these people overflowing with greed…" Gongenzaka furious. "Unforgivable!" He calls it. Dennis and Kurosaki reach the starting line "I won't be holding back because you have the handicap!" Dennis tells Kurosaki. "I wouldn't need you to" Kurosaki replies. "All right, let's go! Field Spell: Speed World Neo Activate!" Gallagher declares. Pink light suffuses the arena "Duel Mode On! Autopilot: Standby!" Both D-Wheels declares. A holographic countdown appears above Dennis and Kurosaki "Riding Duel, Acceleration!" Gallagher declares as the counter reaches zero. "Duel!" Kurosaki and Dennis cry out as they take off.
"I'll be going first!" Kurosaki states as he takes the first corner. "I Summon Raidraptor - Skull Eagle from my hand!" He declares (ATK: 1000). "And I activate the Spell Card: Raidraptor – Call!" Kurosaki states. "I can Special Summon a monster with the same name from my Deck!" He explains thus Special Summoning another Skull Eagle from his Deck (ATK: 1000). "I Overlay my two Raidraptor - Skull Eagles!" Kurosaki declares. "Xyz Summon! Come forth! Rank 3! Raidraptor - Fiend Eagle!" He chants (ATK: 1000). "At this moment, due to the effects of the two Skull Eagles used as Xyz Materials, Fiend Eagle's ATK increases by 300 for each!" Kurosaki explains (Fiend Eagle's ATK: 1600). "Next, I activate Fiend Eagle's monster effect!" He declares. "By using one Overlay Unit…I can deal damage equal to the ATK of a Special Summoned monster on the Field!" Kurosaki explains. He targets Fiend Eagle itself, and Fiend Eagle bombards Dennis with purple light (Dennis' LP: 2400). "This soon?" Dennis comments. "I set one card and end my turn" Kurosaki states. "As expected of our current champion, Kurosaki! He pulls off an Xyz Summon in the first turn, and in a starling turn of events, shaves 1600 LP off of Dennis! Is he going to go for finishing his off right now?!" Gallagher narrates.
"There's no way that'll happen! The fun has just begun!" Dennis comments. "Now he's going and stealing Yuzu's catchphrase!" Gongenzaka furious. "Unforgivable!" He calls it. "My turn! Draw!" Dennis declares. "If my opponent controls a monster and I don't, I can Special Summon Performage Wind Drainer from my hand" He states (ATK: 2100). "When it is Summoned this way, I can lower its level by 1!" Dennis explains (Wind Drainer's LV: 4). "And now, I Summon Performage Ball Balancer from my hand!" He states (ATK: 1000). "I Overlay my Level 4 Wind Drainer and Ball Balancer!" Dennis declares. "The show must go on! Artisan of the air, swing across the stage with grace! Xyz Summon! Come forth! Rank 4! Performage Trapeze Magician!" He chants (ATK: 2500). "He can use Xyz too?!" A man shocked. "Xyz verse Xyz?!" A woman impressed. "This is the first time I've seen this!" Another man exclaims. "I use Fiend Eagle's remaining Overlay Unit…and activate its monster effect!" Kurosaki declares. "I deal damage equal to the ATK of a Special Summoned monster on the field!" He states. "Take Trapeze Magician's ATK in damage!" Kurosaki declares. "Oh now this is a pinch! Trapeze Magician's ATK is 2500! Dennis' LP is 2400! So if this goes though…" Gallagher narrates the twist. "Kurosaki's victory is guaranteed…" Gongenzaka narrates. "I activate Trapeze Magician's effect!" Dennis declares. "I don't take any effect damage less than or equal to Trapeze Magician's ATK!" He states, and the energy that has surrounded it dissipates. "Then, I use one of Trapeze Magician's Overlay Units…making it able to attack twice!" Dennis states. "What!?" Kurosaki shocked. "Battle! Trapeze Magician, attack Fiend Eagle!" Dennis declares. It attacks and destroys Fiend Eagle (Kurosaki's LP: 100). "And the tables have been turned! Now Dennis has Kurosaki cornered!" Gallagher comments. "Kurosaki only has 100 LP left!" A man exclaims. "Is he finally going to lose?!" Another man believes. "Next, of course, is a direct attack! Get him, Trapeze Magician!" Dennis declares. "Trap Activate: Necro Raptor!" Kurosaki declares. "I take no damage from a direct attack and can Special Summon a "Raidraptor" monster from my Graveyard!" He explains. "The card I will call back is Raidraptor - Fiend Eagle!" Kurosaki declares (ATK: 1000). Dennis gasps and then chuckles "Your specialty Trap Cards, huh?" He comments. "I'm a bit upset, thought…" Dennis annoyed. "I set one card and end my turn!" He states. "It's as if they have blades at each other's throats! I can feel the tension in the air! You can't let your eyes off this fight for an instant!" Gallagher described the Duel. "To think Dennis was this good…As expected of LDS, you could say" Gongenzaka muses.
"He learned these practical Dueling skills from LDS?" Kurosaki surprised as he noticed the aggressiveness of Dennis's Dueling. "If that's how this is, then…My turn!" He declares and draws. "I activate the Spell Card: Rank-Up-Magic Raid Force from my hand!" Kurosaki declares. "I use my Rank 3 Fiend Eagle as Xyz Material and Xyz Summon a Raidraptor with one Rank higher!" He explains. "Rank 4! Raidraptor - Force Strix!" Kurosaki chants (ATK: 100). "Force Strix's effect!" He declares. "By using one Overlay Unit, I add Raidraptor - Necro Vulture from my Deck to my hand!" Kurosaki explains. "And Summon it!" He declares (ATK: 1000). "And I Release Necro Vulture and activate its effect!" Kurosaki states. "I add a Rank-Up Magic from my Graveyard to my hand!" He explains. "Rank-Up-Magic Raid Force!" Kurosaki declares. "I use my Force Strix as Xyz Material and Xyz Summon a Raidraptor with one Rank higher!" He explains. "Ferocious falcon, break through this fierce battle and spread your wings! Rank up! Xyz Change! Come forth! Rank 5! Raidraptor - Blaze Falcon!" Kurosaki chants (ATK: 1000). "Blaze Falcon's monster effect!" He declares. "By using one Overlay Unit…it destroys all Special Summoned monsters my opponent controls, and deals 500 damage per monster destroyed this way!" He explains. Blaze Falcon disgorges its four red devices that destroy Trapeze Magician with green laser fire "Trapeze Magician was-!" Dennis cries out (Dennis's LP: 1900). "I'll have you follow it soon!" Kurosaki comments. "I activate the Equip Spell: Raptor's Ultimate Mace!" He declares. "I equip it to Blaze Falcon, increasing its ATK by 1000!" Kurosaki states. Blaze Falcon glows purple (Blaze Falcon's ATK: 2000). "Battle! I attack directly with Blaze Falcon!" Kurosaki declares. "Dennis' life is 1900! Will he be defeated this time?!" Gallagher comments.
"When a Special Summoned monster attacks me directly, I can Special Summon Performage Ball Balancer from my Graveyard in Defense Position!" Dennis explains (DEF: 1800). "Pointless!" Kurosaki calls it. "Blaze Falcon can attack directly even if a monster is on the opponent's field!" He states. "Trap Activate: Pinch Breaker!" Dennis declares. "I make an opponent's monster ATK equal to the DEF of one of my monsters!" He explains (Blaze Falcon's ATK: 1800). Blaze Falcon swoops down (Dennis' LP: 100). "He took the attack, but has barely held on!" Gallagher declares. "Blaze Falcon's effect!" Kurosaki, unfazed, declares. "When Blaze Falcon deals damage from a direct attack, it can destroy one of my opponent's monsters!" He explains. Blaze Falcon" fires its gas-powered missiles, destroying Ball Balancer. "At this moment, Pinch Breaker's effect ends and Blaze Falcon's ATK returns to normal" Dennis explains (Blaze Falcon's ATK: 2000). "I set one card and end my turn" Kurosaki states.
Kurosaki drops back beside Dennis "Are you really from LDS?!" He asks Dennis. "Of course!" Dennis replies. "Why do you ask?" He asks. Kurosaki scoffs "Both of them only have 100 LP left! You can't tell which of them will win!" Gallagher explains. "I don't know what you're suspicious about, but…Let's both keep making this more exciting!" Dennis comments. Dennis accelerates "Now let's go! It's my turn!" He declares and draws. "I, using the Scale 2 Performage Water Dancer and the Scale 6 Performage Fire Dancer, set the Pendulum Scale!" Dennis declares. "With this, I'm able to simultaneously Summon monsters from Levels 3 to 5!" He explains. "Pendulum Summon! Come forth my monsters! 2 copies of Performage Wing Sandwichman (ATK: 1800x2) and from my Extra Deck, Performage Ball Balancer!" Dennis chants (ATK: 1000). "Three monsters on an instant?!" A man shocked. "And two level 5 monsters without a Release!?" Another man shocked. Gallagher laughs "And the name of this magical Summoning method that has left everyone speechless is…" He calls it.
In Security "Pendulum Summon?" The Director asks. "Yes sir. In the Underground Dueling Arena in the center of the City" One of his aides confirms it. "Send personnel immediately. They may be hiding out there" The Director orders. "It shall be done" The aide replies. The Director places a white knight down.
