Chapter 11: Contract Terminated
Slade was currently in Sofia's office and monitoring all the activity that was going on in the city tonight and he couldn't have been more disappointed in the soldiers he thought he trained better than how they have been performing. First, the checkpoints, then the watchtowers, then the APCs, and now the bombs in the road. Batman, Nightwing, and Queen were making a mockery of his militia, and more importantly him. He was watching as the Batmobile destroyed yet another bomb on Founder's Island and cursed under his mask. "Amateurs! All of them! I know I taught them better than that!", Deathstroke said angrily. Sofia then came barging in very angry as she learned some things about how Slade was trying to fulfill the contract. "Slade! Just what the hell do you think you're doing?!", Sofia yelled. He turned around when he heard her voice and was confused by why she was asking that. "What do you mean? I'm doing what you hired me to do which is kill the Bat. I tell you, things have definitely gotten more interesting as he has brought in two more of my rivals into the fight, so now I'll have the pleasure of killing them too. It's just sad how my army is not performing as efficiently as I expected them to.", Slade said. "No, I mean I'm not happy with how you're doing this. I was fine with you setting up those towers and bases, but now your planting bombs in the roads! Also, the car chases and drone battles that have taken place are also doing a significant amount of damage to this city", Sofia said angrily. "I assure you it's all necessary in order to achieve our objective.", Slade said. "i agree with achieving our objective being necessary, but I don't want much or I should say any of the city I love and grew up in, plus the city my father was in charge of and loved more than anything destroyed because of your stupid army tactics.", Sofia yelled. "Well, I'm sorry, but this is how things work in war. And I assure you, my dear, we are at war with these vigilantes. They started it when they became my enemies.", Slade said. "You ever stop to consider that the destruction you and your army cause to the city will lead the cops to you and then to me?", Sofia asked. "Like I said, it's all necessary as long as the Bat, Arrow, and Nightwing are all dead. I'll torch the whole city if I have to just to kill them.", Slade said. "My God, Batman was right. You are unstable.", Sofia said. "What do you mean by that? You've been talking to him?", Slade asked. "Yes, he came here to warn me not to get involved with and that you were unpredictable. I guess he was right all along.", Sofia said. "Why didn't you call me when he was here? I couldv'e caught him off guard and there would have been no need for any of this!", he said. "He's not your concern anymore, neither is his helper or that emerald archer guy. You're fired! Tell your men to get the hell out of my city! I'll be lucky if the cops aren't able to haul me to the precinct because of all this. But just in case, I better get as many good lawyers as I can if they can tie me into the militia.", she said. "You can't fire me! You hired me to do this, and I won't quit until the job is done! I'm not going to lose another bounty because of that bastard.", he said. "If you want the money, fine! It's yours. I don't care about it anyway. Just get the hell out of here!", Sofia said as she turned to walk away. "That's very generous of you, Ms. Falcone. Unfortunately...", he trailed off as he grabbed his sword and moved up behind her. As she was turning back around, he sliced off her head with one clean stroke. Her head rolled in front of the doorway and her headless corpse fell onto the floor. "You're not going to stop me from experiencing what just might be the greatest fight of my life.", he said as he stared down at her body. Some of her men came into the room upon hearing the commotion. "Sofia, everything alright in here?", one goon said. They all froze in horror as they saw her severed head in front of their feet. They looked up at Deathstroke and immediately got scared. "I'd advise you men to run before I do the same to you.", he threatened. That was all it took to have Sofia's loyal men to run away like frightened children. "I think Gotham has had enough of the Falcones. I'm sure the people of this city would think I did them a favor.", he said to himself. Slade went back to his seat as he showed no remorse for decapitating his employer. He became angry again as he continued to see the three heroes making an ass out of his men. It was time he finally joined the fight and ended this whole thing. "You've all proven yourself worthy to take on the likes of me. I'm ready, and I hope you are.", he said to himself. He communicated with one of his commanders and said, "Commander, get my tank ready. I'll finish this.", Deathstroke said. "Yes, sir. It'll be ready right away.", the commander told him.
