Jack Bauer returns to CTU, where Jamey and Chloe are trying to repair the chip.

Ashan Benedict, the chief of police, arrives at the White House, to speak with president Keaton.

Ashan: Thank you for agreeing to speak with me mr president.
Keaton: Ofcourse. I understand you were here last night as well.
Ashan: Yes to speak with president Allen's son. I was sorry to hear what happened to him.
Keaton: President Allen holds no ill will towards you, you were just doing your job as a servant of the law.
Ashan: Your old friend Dave, he's been arrested for murder.
Keaton: I've heard.
Ashan: He's confessed, he seemed to think that the man he killed was blackmailing Horace Allen. I understand you spoke with Dave yesterday.
Keaton: Yes I did. He had been arrested recently for insider trading. I offered to make certain his family were taken care of while he was incarcerated. We were good friends when we served together. Dave asked me to use my position to influence president Allen to pardon him. I refused, and he got a little bit angry. I regret to say I underestimated how erratic he was becoming. I would have thought he'd have that he'd have to surrender any firearms as a condition of his house arrest.
Ashan: He claims the other man brought the gun.
Keaton: I guess that's possible.
Ashan: You didn't promise him any kind of pardon earlier?
Keaton: Absolutely not.
Ashan: Dave says you never promised anything, but he seemed to hope you would give it to him.
Keaton: Then he's thrown his life away for nothing. It's a pity, we really were good friends once. Is there anything else, I should get back to work.
Ashan: I think we're good for now, if i have any more questions I'll come back.
Keaton: Thank you and good luck.
Ashan: Good luck to you too.

Reverand Adam sees the clock, 12:56 pm. If the other bombers are on schedule, it should all be over within an hour. Adam also notices a local billboard advertising reruns of "I love Lucy" at 2pm on a local television station. Adam laughs at this, he assumes that this will be preempted by news coverage of the bombings, but at any rate he'll be dead before 2pm.

Split screens show Adam driving towards his target, president Keaton pacing in the Oval Office, Jack Bauer silently watching as Jamey and Chloe work on the chip.

Chloe: I got it.
Mason: You got the signals?
Chloe: Yes, this is where the bombers are right now.
.
Mason sees the map of the United States, even the exact location of each bombers. They did it, they might actually be able to stop the bombings in time.
