Chapter 1: Trade Bait
I'm happy to know that this Fanfic is doing well, so I decided to start the next chapter soon. Also while he has graduated Jaden is still wearing his Slifer Red Jacket. Yugi is just wearing a blue jacket since he has already graduated high school. Each of them is around a year after their series ended for context. Also I decided to rewrite and change Yuzu in her original name instead of her dub name since that would mean she'd be the only bracelet girl to use her dub name in this fic.
In You Show Duel School Yuya is dueling Jaden when he finally gets pendulum summoning right by set scale 1 Stargazer Magician and scale 8 Timegazer Magician. Summoning his whip snake and sword fish Performapals and his Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon.
"Alright great job Yuya you finally were able to Pendulum Summon. It only took 457 tries." While Gong's words may seem like he's just tired they fill Yuya with joy knowing he finally can Pendulum Summon again.
The next day Yugi, Jaden, Yusei and Yuma along with their spirit companions waited outside for Yuzu and Yuya. Well Yuma and Jaden are dueling simply using the cards.
"Jaden, Yuma, they're here." Said Yubel so they end their duel.
"Looks like it's a tie." Said Jaden.
"No way, I would have won if we finished." Said Yuma but he put his cards away anyway.
"So, you guys decided to pick us up after school." Said Yuzu.
"Your dad asked us to." Said Yusei.
"Well when we get to You Show lets have a duel I was hoping to practice with Yugi today." Said Yuya.
"Well then let's go." Said Yugi
While walking Yuya asks "Hey Yugi, Yuma, I've been meaning to ask about those things you guys have around your necks." They know he is talking about the Millennium Puzzle and Yuma's key.
"This is the Millennium Puzzle. My grandfather was an archaeologist and found it and let me put it together. It took years for me to complete but when I was down to the last piece a bully named Joey stole it."
"But you must have gotten it back though since you finished the puzzle." Said Yuya.
"I did, you see I took a beating from a bully worse than Joey and he got the piece back for me, believe it or not we became friends and me and my grandfather were the ones who taught him how to duel."
"Wow! That's an amazing story I can't believe you were able to make your bully become your friend." Said Yuya.
"My turn, it was a gift from my dad, my parents were archaeologist and gave me this, it's a key that is believed to be a way to open up a great source of power. I also made my bully my friend, but it took longer than Yugi. I also meet my closest friend, his names Astral he was my…" Yuma needs to come up with a way to explain who Astral is that is believable. "Dueling coach he began helping me in dueling and made me a lot better at the game than I was before I met him. Eventually he had to return home, so we dueled to see if I no longer needed him and I won and he returned home."
"That must have been sad having to say goodbye to your friend." Said Yuzu.
"True but eventually we got into contact again, so I still get to talk to him and he still gives me tips every now and then." Said Yuma.
While they're about to leave the school Yuma gets hit in the head by three darts.
"Bullseye." Said Yuzu.
"Impressive aim." Said Yusei.
"Impressed? I assure you that was no child's play. I could have done it blind-folded." Said a newcomer from Yuya and Yuzu's middle school.
"Who are you?" asked Yuya.
"Me, one of your biggest fans. To be precise, the name's Sylvio. It's an honor." Sylvio says shaking Yuya's hands. "I caught your duel against the Sledgehammer on TV. You were tres magnifique!" he then takes the darts off of Yuma's face. "Your new Pendulum Summoning technique took my breath away. And those cards you used—sorry, what do you call them Yuya?"
"You mean my Pendulum Cards?"
"So that's why you're here you want to duel him and see his Pendulum Cards in action." Said Jaden.
"How true, yes, I would like to duel Yuya. I have access to a most ideal venue. An hour from now you could showcase your talents at the Leo Institute."
"Wait Leo Institute, as in Leo Akaba?" asked Yugi.
"Yes he was the founder but has disappeared for a long time." Answered Sylvio.
This answer did not please those who know about why Leo Akaba disappeared. They wonder if it is a good idea to let Yuzu and Yuya anywhere near any building with the name Leo on it. Mainly if any spies for Leo are there to kidnap Yuzu.
"My father doesn't have any spies in the Academy, also I want to check on my brother Reji." Said Ray who wants to see if her brother is an enemy or ally.
"When we duel it will take place on the school's center court." Said Sylvio.
"I thought that was for Leo students only." Said a shocked Yuya.
"I managed to reserve us a space since I'm one of the school's top brass and my father is expecting to be the cities next mayor, so I definitely influence with the school's higher-ups."
"Hearing this just makes me more excited I think we should check it out." Said Jaden.
"I want to see it as well; that place sounds amazing." Said Yuma.
Yuzu sighs realizing she is defeated. "Fine but since I'm apparently the only one loyal to You Show I'm going as well to look at our competition."
They all agree and arrive at LDS unaware of Silvio's real intentions.
"As you probably know the institute is managed by the Leo corporation. They've spared no excuse to turn our school one of the world's top dueling institutions." Explained Sylvio as the walk around and see the training the students are taking part in.
"Kinda reminds me of my duel school back home." Said Jaden remembering how Kaiba Corp founded duel academy as well as funded.
"Wouldn't know what a good duel school looks like since I never went to one." Said Yusei which surprise everyone from the Standard dimension.
"Then where did you learn to duel?" asked Yuzu.
"I was self-taught." Is all Yusei answered as they look around the school and learn that LDS has the most advance equipment for dueling in this world.
"I guess the only think Yu Show has over this place is that its cheaper." Said Jaden which annoys Yuzu having their new Fusion teacher insult her dad's school.
Yugi looks at a poster and reads "This place teaches Synchro, XYZ and even Fusion summoning."
"I'm curious to try Synchro and XYZ out myself Yugi, maybe we could get our own for a duel." Said Atem.
"The central dueling zone is this way." Sylvio points to as they head into the dueling zone.
Three of Silvio's classmates at LDS appear and he claims they are also fans of Yuya.
"Their curious about the cards you use to Pendulum summon, you wouldn't mind letting them have a look, would you?" asked Sylvio.
Yuya is a little shocked about this but Sylvio claims they are his friends so Yuya pulls out his Timegazer Magician and Stargazer Magician…
Which Sylvio swipes. "They're mine. I'm adding them to my rare card collection!"
"That better be a bad joke Sylvio." Said Yuzu.
"I'm not joking. I happen to prefer rare cards. In my opinion they're the only cards that are worth collecting. Your cards are so unique that I simply can't resist them."
"That just be why he invited us, so he can steal Yuya's Pendulum cards." Said Astral.
Hearing Sylvio claim that the only good cards are rare ones angers all of them, Yugi who grew up with his grandfather's teachings, Yusei who learnt to see the value in every card growing up in the Satellite where you had to keep ahold of anything that's yours, Jaden who can see duel spirts and has befriended many spirits thanks to this ability so he cant stand when someone calls any card worthless and Yuma who before he met Astral he was treated as a loser and even the garbage collecting robots called his deck trash.
"You coward!" Yugi's words catch Sylvio's attention. "I can't stand people like you who think a cards only worth is if it rare or strong."
"Last I checked that is a cards worth, I don't know who you think you are but I'm one of LDS' best students which means my dueling skills are far surpassed a bunch of students at a no named school and some duelist I've never heard of."
"Yugi lets merge so we can defeat him together." Said Atem
"No Atem, I don't need you to fight my battles for me anymore, besides I don't need your power to defeat this jerk." Said Yugi.
Atem is shocked by Yugi's words but feels pride knowing how far Yugi has come from that scrawny kid that was easily afraid and pushed around.
"My grandfather has his own game shop so I have many rare cards in my deck, if you beat me in a duel you can have them, but if I win Yuya gets his Pendulum cards back." Said Yugi.
"Well I can't imagine why anyone would risk their own deck for two cards but I can't pass up an opportunity to get more rare cards and I brought you all here in order to test them all out anyway." Sylvio says as he puts his duel disk on.
Sylvio's goons tried to use the others as hostages but they didn't count on Yusei's right hook or Yuzu's fan knocking them out.
"Coward." Is all Yusei has to say as the go to watch on the stands.
"Do you really think Yugi will win?" asked Ray since she's never seen Yugi duel and only knows about Atem's stories.
"No doubt he will because unlike Sylvio he doesn't see any card as useless." Responded Atem.
The action field they use is prison tower of Darkville. Which looks like Gotham turned into a prison.
Yugi then activates his duel disk which causes Sylvio to laugh at it. "You must be worthless if you are using such an old model, this will be over rather quickly." He says smugly.
Yugi choses to be the mature one and not answer with anything other than
Duel
Sylvio 4000 LP hand: 5
Yugi 4000 LP hand: 5
The action cards then disperse over the field.
"I'll go first." Yugi remembers that unlike his world the player going first can't draw. He also notices a magic card in his hand that he can't use since he no longer has the monster required use it with. "I set a monster and one card face down and end my turn."
Yugi hand: 3.
Sylvio draws a card and notices Timegazer Magician in his hand but a voice in his duel disk tells him he can't use them.
"I summon Lightning Hoverbard." Lightning Hoverbard (Level 4 1400 ATK)
Yugi is unfazed as he the hoverboard attacks revealing Yugi's face up monster to be Marshmallow in defense position. (Level 3 def 500) unfortunately for Sylvio the gooey little monster is still standing.
"Sorry but Marshmallow cannot be destroyed in battle and when he is revealed he causes my opponent to lose 1000 LPs."
Marshmallow then stretches over and bites Sylvio.
Sylvio: 4000 – 1000 = 3000
Sylvio ends his turn.
Sylvio hand: 4
"Alright he hasn't even attacked yet and Yugi's the only one whose given out any damage." Said Yuma excitedly watching.
"I draw." Yugi draws a card. "I tribute Marshmallow in order to summon Summoned Skull." (Level 6 2500 ATK)
"I then cast Ancient rules in order to summon Dark Magician." (Level 7 2500 ATK)
"Alright he's already summoned his ace monster Sylvio's in for it now." said Jaden.
"That's your ace monster, it doesn't even have an effect." Said an unimpressed Sylvio.
Summoned Skull attacks Sylvio's Hoverboard creating black and purple lightning to blast the hoverboard.
Sylvio: 3000 – 1100 = 1900
"If Yugi's dark magician attacks the Sylvio will lose." Said Yuya hoping he'll get his Pendulum cards back.
"Dark Magician Dark Magic Attack." Dark Magician blast a dark ball of black magic that hits Sylvio.
"All right Yugi won!" exclaimed Jaden, unfortunately he spoke too soon.
"Sorry but I activate the action spell Evasion." Said Sylvio whose LPs are unchanged.
"I place one card face down and end my turn." Said Yugi
Yugi Hand: 1
Sylvio Hand: 4
Sylvio draws his next card and realizes what to do. "I cast Pot of Greed and draw 2v cards. I then cast Monster Reborn in order to bring back my Lightning Hoverboard and then cast tribute trade. I tribute my Hoverboard in order to add a monster to my hand that is one level higher than the monster I just tributed." And he adds Stargazer Magician. "I think you know what's coming next."
Yugi knows you need two cards to Pendulum Summon and he realizes if Sylvio is making a play like that then he must have the other Pendulum card.
"Yuya Sakaki may have refused to teach me how to Pendulum Summon but it doesn't matter. If someone as lame as him could do it, anyone could pull it off." Sylvio starts laughing manically. "And I bet I'll do it so much better."
Reji Akaba instructs Sylvio how to properly Pendulum summon allowing him to set Scale 1 Stargazer Magician and Scale 8 Timegazer Magician.
Sylvio then Pendulum Summons Power Dart Striker (Level 5 1800 ATK), Rocket Dart Striker (Level 6 1900 ATK) and Ultimate Dart Striker (Level 7 2400 Atk).
"Incredible! I actually did it, on my first try. I should thank Yuya for the cards, now I truly am a Pendulum Master." Said Sylvio.
"No way. It worked." Said a surprised Yuya who is too shocked to say anything else and also upset that someone else can use Pendulum Summoning.
"He actually did it." Said Yuzu.
"Maybe but none of his monsters can beat Yugi's Skull or Magician." Said Jaden.
"Careful Jaden he still has one card left in his hand and we are still new to Action Duels for all we know Sylvio has found an action spell to increase his monsters ATK points." Said Yubel.
"I guess your right Yubel, but unless he can this is an easy win for Yugi."
"Well done Sylvio." Says Reji Akaba who is please with the results as he is watching in secret in another room.
"Unfortunately since none of them can beat any of your monsters I place one cars facedown and end my turn." Said Sylvio.
Sylvio Hand: 0
Yugi Hand: 1
"My turn. Draw." Yugi draws his next card. "I cast Pot of Greed. I can draw 2 cards." Which Yugi does one he notices particaularily.
"Draw as many cards as you want, once I destroy your monster I'll have defeated you and get your deck." Said Sylvio smugly which they all assume is his default emotion.
Yugi ignores him and continues with his turn. "I activate the magic card Double Summon, I can normal summon twice now, I summon Celtic Guardian."
Yugi holds the next monster he is about to summon when Atem appears. "Now that I have returned I have also returned the Egyptian gods and you may not need them anymore I thought you could need them."
"Sylvio, you love rare cards so much I want to tell you a story of the rarest cards in the game." Said Yugi which gets everyone's attention. "The creator of the game created three cards so powerful his company could only make one of each. They are so powerful they were dubbed the Egyptian god cards. Their names are The Winged Dragon of Ra, Obelisk the Tormentor and... Slifer the Sky Dragon." Yugi then reveals Slifer is in his hand.
"I tribute all three of my monsters in order to summon Slifer the Sky Dragon!" (Level 10 ATK 0)
In the room Reji Akaba is in one of his scientist rushes in. "Sir there is the strongest summoning energy source we've ever seen."
"What method, Fusion, Synchro, XYZ or did someone else figure out Pendulum Summoning?" asked Reji.
"Neither sir, it's the monster Yugi Muto just Summoned, a tribute summon."
This surprises Reji that a tribute summon could create so much energy which only makes him more curious about this Yugi Muto. He then searches up Yugi along with Jaden, Yusei and Yuma but he can't find anything on any of them which only causes him to fear the worst.
Back at the duel Sylvio burst into laughter. "I can't believe it. You hyped up some super powerful monster but it doesn't have any ATK points."
"I'm not done yet. I activate the spell card Thunderforce Attack!" Yugi reveals the spell card he placed face down at the beginning of the duel. "With this Slifer destroys every card on your side on the field, and for every card destroyed I get to draw a card."
Slifer releases a powerful blast of energy from his mouth annihilating everyone of Sylvio's monster's the card he had face down and Yuya's Pendulum Cards.
"Slifer has 1000 ATK points for every card in my hand so that means I get 6 cards and Slifer has 6000 ATK points." Explained Yugi.
Slifer the Sky Dragon (Level 10 ATK 0 + 6000 = 6000)
"6000 ATK points!?" says Sylvio knowing nothing he can do can defeat it.
"Attack Slifer!" ordered Yugi which causes Slifer to unleash the same energy blast he used earlier to attack Sylvio directly.
Sylvio: 1900 – 6000 = 0
The field then returns to the stadium it was before as everyone from Yu Show runs to congratulate Yugi for his victory but first Yugi walks over to Sylvio's Duel Disk and grabs Yuya's Pendulum cards.
"Here you go I think these belong to you." Said Yugi as Yuya takes back his Pendulum cards and they all walk home.
"You were amazing Yugi. You didn't even lose any LP's." said Yuzu.
"She's right you did a good job Yugi." said Ray and Atem nodded agreeing.
While Yugi is being praised by Yuzu, which makes Yuya jealous, Jaden notices he is upset and asks. "You okay you seem a little down."
"Its just… I wasn't able to defeat Sylvio myself and I needed help from Yugi to get my cards back." Answered Yuya.
"I don't think it's just that, I think your upset that he figured out Pendulum Summoning so quickly." Said Jaden.
"Your right, it made me feel special that I had Pendulum summoning and no one else did and when Sylvio swiped my cards and did it so easily it made me feel like I wasn't anything special."
"Hey, you invented a new summoning method, that alone makes you special and someone company was bound to start developing Pendulum cards soon anyway, look I get it I once dueled an opponent who used similar cards to mine and when I lost to him I felt awful and like I didn't deserve to use my cards. But eventually after getting some new cards and beating him it allowed me to become a better duelist because of that. So remember just because some people have similar dueling styles doesn't mean your not special."
Jaden's pep talk actually worked making Yuya realize it doesn't matter if and when other people start using Pendulum Summoning, he invented it and that is what makes him special.
Finished, first official duel in my story and I started with Yugi. I was considering instead of Yuya, since I couldn't think of what cards to give to Sylvio's goons, using Yusei with his believe in rare cards being the only good cards and Yusei growing up in the Satellite having to work with the cards he has but I wanted to have each protagonist duel in the order of series and having Yugi absolutely destroy Sylvio with an Egyptian god cad was too good to pas up. Also Sora doesn't appear because while he's still around he doesn't go to Yu Show (I'm keeping him a villain).
