Chapter 10

Lucy stood just outside the Indian camp waiting for Peter. Her hands were shaking uncontrollably, and she had to grip one tightly in the other to stop them. She had made her decision and knew what she had to do, the faster that she could get back to the Jolly Rodger and Nibs the better.

She saw Tinkerbell's bright light darting through the trees and heard Peter's loud boyish laugh before she saw his shadow bouncing from tree to tree. For a moment, her courage almost failed her. But regaining it, she plastered a wide smile onto her face and ran to great him.

Lucy spent the whole day with Peter down by the crystal lagoon. Splashing and teasing each other, screaming in delight and teasing the mermaids who scowled at Lucy and smiled and battered their eyelashes at Peter. Tinkerbell, spent the entire day fluttering around Peter not seeming to want him out of her sight for even a second. Lucy had taken to ignoring her little tinkering whispers in Peter's ears that only he seemed to be able to understand, responding to them in great gales of laughter or an exasperated sigh. Soon it started to get dark and Lucy once again remembered what she had been sent to do. Her fingers trembled.

"Peter," she said sliding over to him and pressing the side of her body against his. "Do you think we could go somewhere… alone?" she asked with a surreptitious glance at Tinkerbell.
"Why?" he asked eyes narrowed.
"There's something I really want to show you. But… Just you."
"Okay," Peter shrugged trustingly. "Stay here," he said bossily to Tinkerbell.
She tinkered at him angrily, but with much sighing and sulking from Peter's end eventually agreed.

Lucy grabbed Peter's hand and pulled him towards a cave at the side of the lagoon.
"Where are we going?" Peter asked.
"Just trust me."
Once inside she turned around to face him. Peter noticed tears streaming hot and heavy down her cheeks.
"Tiger Lily?" he said, suddenly afraid. An emotion that was very foreign to Peter Pan and not one that he would ever admit feeling.
"I'm sorry," she said. Suddenly her lips were pressed firmly against his. A wave of emotions filled his body confusing him more than ever. And when he pulled away to look at her, he found her sobbing.
"I'm so sorry Peter."
Suddenly he felt a cold hand on his shoulder and a blade at his throat.
"I trusted you Tiger Lily." When Lucy looked up she saw Peter's eyes filled with something that he never seen in him before. Hatred.
