Chapter 11

Lucy ran onto the ship her eyes brimming with tears. What had she done? This was all her fault. Suddenly, she ran straight into Gale. "Hey," he said. "You Ok?" he asked noticing her blood shot eyes and wet cheeks.
"What happened to Nibs?" Lucy demanded. "Tell me."
"He ran away," Gale spat. "The traitor. He ran away the day after you left and never returned."
Lucy let out a small sob.
"We believe that he must have died as he didn't return, and we have been searching for him on the mainland. But if he's not he will be as soon as he shows his ugly face again. Your father is very angry."
Lucy sobbed again, pushing Gale out of the way she ran down to her cabin as fast as she could. She could hear Gale running behind her calling her name. As soon as she reached her cabin, she locked the door behind her and flung herself on the bed sobbing.
"Lucy," Gale called from outside.
"GO AWAY GALE," Lucy screamed angrily through her sobs.
"You'll miss your father's final victory! And all the celebrations!"
"I DON'T CARE! I TOLD YOU TO GO AWAY!" Lucy screamed.
She listened in till Gales footsteps died away before sitting up in her bed. Upstairs she could hear the cheers of the pirates as Peter was dragged onto the ship. He would die tonight, Lucy knew it. It would be all her fault. She had as good as killed him and now she would have to live with the burden forever.

Suddenly, Lucy realised she had to do something she couldn't just sit here and let an innocent boy die. She had got to know Peter well enough in the last few days to know that he was not the villain that her father had made out he was. She couldn't just sit back and watch him die. She had made the wrong choice and now she must fix it.

Wiping the tears from her face Lucy unlocked the door to her cabin and ran down to the bottom deck, away from the screams of celebration from the pirates, to where she knew Tiger Lily was being kept. The deck was deserted no one wanted to miss their captains final victory over Peter Pan. Hastily, she ran over to the door at the furthest side of the room. "Tiger Lily?" she called.
"Yes," replied an angry, defiant voice from inside the locked door.
"Listen," Lucy said. "It's Lucy. I know you probably hate me right now. But I made a terrible mistake I need you to help me fix it."
"You! You impersonated me and lead Peter to his death. If theirs anyway you think that I would ever help you then…"
"Listen, I know you're the last person that you'd ever want to trust right now. But this is the only way we can save Peter. Please we don't have long and I can only let you out if I know that I can trust you."
There was a short silence on the other side of the door.
"Ok, you can trust me but I promise that if this turns out to be a trick you'll pay with your life," Tiger Lily said threateningly.
Lucy took a piece of wire from her pocket and jammed it into the lock. Picking locks was a skill that she had perfected whilst living on the streets and had often got her out of some sticky situations.
The door flung open to reveal Tiger Lily standing there. "Take this," Lucy said handing her a dagger. "Leave the ship from the second deck and find the lost boys and Tinkerbell. Bring them here as fast as you can. I will cause a diversion in till you get here."
Tiger Lily nodded and ran off quickly and quietly. Lucy took a deep breath. This was it. Time to make the right decision.
