Onto the fic….

A family of three entered the local stadium and let their girl run off to join her team while they went to get their seats. Didn't take long as they also grabbed some condiments too and smiled as the hometown team of football players emerged onto the field, cheers from the crowd praising them as the young players were elated.

The mother just smiled with pride and waved to her daughter, who happily hopped in place waving back to her parents. Leaning into her husband's arm, she commented, "Look at her, so happy to reach the little leagues." She hummed as his hand massaged her bare shoulder.

"Hey, beats having her cooped up being the big bookworm you wanted her to be." The man chuckled as she playfully slapped his chest. Both parents having a little squabble on how their child should live her life every now and then. She was all about home tradition and getting into politics like her, while he was more about freedom and enjoying hobbies, like sports. The duo among many as they watched the game start as the teams were running around the field chasing the white & black ball.

"Gotta use the restroom, be right back." The husband excused himself with a kiss as she let him go, cheering as her daughter scored a goal and the crowd went up in support. Munching on her snack as she was blissfully unaware of her husband vanishing behind the pillar with a smile. The act barely registered to the wife as she was focused on their child.

Just then her senses went haywire as the city shook, something was wrong.

She stood up in worry as the stadium shook more with parts of it collapsing, the people in panic as she could sense the city was shaking like an earthquake was happening. She pulled out her phone as her fears were mounting, her eyes never leaving her child.

"Honey, what's going on?! Are we under attack?!" she yelled into her phone as she had to push past people, her concern out on the field as everyone was in panic. It was hard to make out, but she couldn't sense any threats around the city. Just then a bright flash of light consumed the sky as she flinched and looked up.

"No, not at all. Just felt like tucking all this away, 'all good things come to an end' as they say. You have fun no, Yasaka~" The call ended as the phone slipped out of her hand and shattered falling down the stairs. Her expression set in shock as she gazed up at the sun going supernova. The mother ran down the flight of stairs and hoped over the railing. The only thing in her focus was her little girl, running to her and fear as both embraced in a hug with the elder fox shielding her child from the wave of flame.

The planet never stood a chance.

Yasaka's eyes snapped open as she sat up, her hand going to her heart beating like a drum as she took a deep breath.

She was having those nightmares again….

Yasaka glanced to her clock to see it was past midnight, throwing off her blanket and moving into her bathroom as she splashed her face with some warm water. Drying off with a towel, she looked at herself in the mirror. Time had mostly been kind to the blonde fox mother as she gazed at her own reflection, taking in the slight changes of her features ever since she moved in with the Hyodou's. Her hair was still shimmering blonde and long enough to reach her calves, undone from her signature ponytail. Only a slight bit of gray was forming at her bangs, but only noticed up close. Her hands absently ran along her bare stomach and pelvis as it protruded a bit with the slight amount of pudge, given her fighting days were long gone along with her leadership of the yokai, it was only natural. Course Issei loved to grab at it during their love making, 'FUPA' he called it, youngsters and their funky slang…. All in all, she still held her immaculate beauty of a Japanese noble-born woman. Her body having almost no signs of aging aside from the bit of gray in her hair.

Yasaka's devil wings emerged as she admired them with her kitsune features, that was the first change that came with moving into the Underworld long ago, she like her daughter and people became Devils to live within their realm after the fall of Japan. The thought of her old home immediately had her ears flatten and eyes moisten up at the loss. Wiping the budding tears, she exhaled and reached into one of the drawers, pulling out a pill bottle of black and gold coloration. Cracking it open, she dropped a single red and blue pill the size of a pea into her palm as she downed the medicine and took a handful of water to wash it down. After shutting the faucet and wiping her hand dry she gazed at the bottle. It was from Azazel, something to help with her reoccurring nightmares as she began to have them upon moving to the Underworld.

Azazel… Just thinking about the crazy Fallen Angel had her in a few moods; affection, understanding… guilt. She shook her head to rid herself of old feelings as Azazel died a few years ago, something she had a hand in as she was with him when he passed, no, in her mind it was her fault he died. She left her bathroom after putting on a bathrobe to cover her body, she slept nude, and walked over to the glass wall on the side of her large bedroom looking out over the home of the Devils.

It's been over a thousand years since the end of the Sin War, After the machine interlopers were banished back to their dying dimension, Trihexxa just so happened to break free from the Isolation Barrier and kicked off all sorts of doomsday events for the various gods and mortals who fought and struggled to survive the chaos. So many good people died in that war as Trihexxa was finally defeated, but not without some sacrifices. The blonde kitsune place her hand on the window and gazed out over the city from her room within Castle Hyodou, a new building that was constructed over Lucifaad after the war had ended and the Devils returned home with their new guests.

The yokai and what was left of the Grigori came to the Underworld to start anew after the dust settled, all the angels went back to heaven as both holy and unholy factions signed an agreement never to venture out into the world of man. After all, the war spilled out and mankind, in their panic, launched their most destructive weaponry to try and fight off the enemy. End result was earth becoming an irradiated wasteland with humanity being taken out by 60%, the survivors living in domed and underground cities to escape the worst of the fallout and danger as only monsters roamed the surface. That was just the base jist of things as more was lost, but the exact detail was unknown.

Yasaka pulled away from the window and out of her room as she was hungry for a snack, passing through the halls lined with various things benefitting the status of Issei Hyodou's royal station in life, she came into the large kitchen, only to blink in surprise as she spotted Kunou sitting at the long island that sat in the middle of the 5-star restaurant sized kitchen.

"Kunou, what are you doing up?" she asked as the young woman, almost a spitting image of her mother with her hair cut to her shoulders, picked up on her mom coming in.

"Oh, hey mom, I'm just writing to a friend." The younger kitsune-devil smiled as she was quick to place her hands over the letter, Yasaka picking up on Kunou's slight jump and tone as she gave a smile. Getting some chocolate pudding from the fridge, she made two bowls and took a seat next to her baby.

"Ooohh what kind of letter? To that one boy that's been sending you flowers on your birthday?" she asked playfully as Kunou had several admirers as she grew up. Many of them drawn to the young kitsune as they all wanted her hand in marriage and offered many things in return. She kept turning them down, but that only made that admire her more as she grew up as another of the Underworld's top beauties.

"Well no, not to any of those guys, they're not my type…" She trailed off as she felt like she revealed a bit too much. But then again it was her mom she was talking to as she always was close to her.

"You can tell me sweetie." Yasaka smiled as her hand went over Kunou's with a supportive squeeze. Kunou just bit her lip as she glanced to her paper.

"You promise not to tell anyone?"

"I swear on all my tails and the Leylines." Yasaka promised as Kunou nudged the paper over as she let her mom look at it. It was to Gasper,

"He's gonna come back, right?" She could hear the worry in her daughter's voice and picked up on the look in her eyes. Kunou missed Gasper the most when he left the Hyodou family; he, Rias and Issei had a whole argument about it before he did something that caught them by complete surprise before he vanished from the Underworld. That was a year ago…

"I know he will Kunou, a knight as valiant as him would never leave his friends behind." She assured her little fox with a pat on the cheek and a smile. Bringing her in for a hug. "Besides, I think you two look adorable together." She added, "Just follow your heart Kunou and it will never lead you astray." The hug broke as Yasaka kissed Kunou's forehead. Her little girl was moving away from her kiddie crush to Issei Hyodou and wanted someone closer to her, as her mother, Yasaka wanted what was best for her.

"You mean, like what you and Mr. Azazel had?" She asked as Yasaka blinked at that.

"Yes, well no. What went on between me and him was more… grown up mistakes." she quickly replied as she didn't want to dwell on that, or for Kunou to take after her when it came to drama.

"Oh so like that time you drank a lot of Sake and got really drunk with Issei." Kunou brought up as Yasaka just dropped her face in her hands.

"Sweetie, no. I thought we agreed to never bring that up." She lamented as Kunou couldn't help but giggle.

"Its ok mom, I'm just pulling your tail." She admitted as she patted Yasaka's head. The mother just let out a sigh of relief as the two turned to their midnight snacks. Enjoying the moment together as both were not busy with work. Kunou then remembered something as she swallowed her mouthful.

"But what about Issei and the harem?" She brought up as she was considered part of Issei's collection of lovers, despite never actually getting beyond hugs and a small kiss here and there.

"I'll talk to Issei, I want you to just focus on what you'll say to Gasper when he returns, ok?" Yasaka gave a wink before stealing a spoonful as both blondes finished and went for seconds.

(Deep beneath the Earth, the human world)

Deep below sea level within the depths of the Mariana Trench, a lone cavern existed, hollowed out by water and barely big enough to hold a group of people. The cavern itself was drained as a golden portal opened and a figure stepped out. It was humanoid, about as humanoid as an eldritch looking being based on the mighty Cthulhu could be. It appeared to be female based off the obvious swell of the chest area under the armored uniform it wore. Its purple moist skin contrasted with the sunken blazing yellow eyes that gazed at the surroundings within the cavern. The many tentacles that made her lower face twitch and moved as she muttered something in a strange language. Her large and leathery bat-like wings flapped in annoyance as it took her a bit of time to locate this place and clear it out. With a wave of her left clawed hand, the portal closed as she gazed at her sling ring, a look of longing in her baleful eyes.

She never wanted to come back here, to this… cesspit of a world that the Three Factions toyed with like they owned the place. For a while she too was guilty of this, after all it was in her nature as an old Devil clinging to the ancestral ways. With her other hand, she moved it to the space before her as magic bloomed out of her forearm and hand, forming intricate sigils, runes and symbols. All of them coming around a spot devoid of anything as the fabric between realities opened. The magic shifted into hooks as it dug into the tear and began to pull at it as she lowered her hand and reached into her robes to bring out a faded photo as her features changed from monstrous to human.

-Flashback, one of the many Old Satans hideouts-

A woman fell with a crunch onto the hard limestone floor, letting out a pained sigh as she reached around for her glasses and put them back on. With a pained groan, she moved to sit up and examine the damage. Bruised, some broken bones and several gashes littered her body as she drew upon some water magic to try and clean up a bit since she was in this stupid pit.

How the fuck was she supposed to know Rizevim Lucifer was showing up on a whim to bully them as their 'boss'? She got it the worse as he just singled her out and decided to have his fun, forcing her to do all manner of humiliating and painful things, all because he wanted to. And when he got bored, he attacked her. The worst part was none of her peers even tried to stop him, they could only watch and agree with his show in fear for their own lives.

Now here she was, in a deep pit carved by magic and thrown in like a broken toy as the laughter of the mentally stunted Lucifer heir echoed off the walls. She dragged herself over to a puddle of water and gazed at her messy reflection. Sometimes Katerea wondered why she put up with the Old Satans, they all clearly never were on the same page despite wanting domination. Not even her dear Creuserey did anything to help, he just agreed with whatever spewed from Rizevim's mouth like a scared rat. Then again that's what they all were compared to him, which he was oh so happy to remind them of while he broke her ribs. The so called 'True Devil' who only believed in violence and destruction for the sake of it. No dreams of conquest, reclaiming his family throne, nothing.

That Devil was just a lunatic who wanted to watch the world burn and piss on the ashes.

She wiped the blood seeping from her nose and set it back in place, this time of her aloneness had her thinking back to a vacation she had a while ago, one of the rare moments she had free time to herself. She explored the islands of Hawaii, not for the culture, hell no, the humans were like ants crawling around. But she found herself admiring the beauty of the sea and the chain of islands that made the state. She couldn't help but remember the stranger that she met there, as a pure devil she should have just wiped him from existence for daring to approach her, but something about him stayed her hand. She wasn't sure if it was some kind of magic he used or if she was just looking to enjoy some free time from her duties to the Old Satans and their goals.

In that moment, she allowed him to buy her a drink and meal.

Katerea could honestly say she had fun with the stranger's company, taking in the serene nature of the islands and sea by day and by night indulging in the finest food and drink maybe a party if she's feeling feisty, all at his expense as it felt good to just live. Not only that, but he also made her feel appreciated and valued as she found his presence comforting and accepting. Unafraid of her devil heritage as her wings came out after a few too many rum drinks on the last night. She wasn't sure if it was the coconut rum, his whole jolly mood or how casually he accepted her devilishness. But she kissed him, one thing led to another, and they had sex. Not the casual bout she got into with Creuserey now and then, but something more passionate as he proved quite the sexual monster driving her to the highest peak of bliss that would have made Asmodeus itself envious of the skill. They parted ways as she left her vacation feeling a billion times better than ever.

Honestly, she found herself missing his company, wondering if Creuserey found out about the handsome man she befriended and gave herself to on her vacation. She hoped he didn't as the Asmodeus heir, while somewhat of an acquaintance/ fuck buddy, was a very prideful Devil and wouldn't stand someone touching what was 'his'. The feeling was certainly not mutual now, given he let Rizevim run roughshod on her with a smile.

"Oh well, the sooner I can regain my seat, the sooner I can do away with the fuckers…" She muttered, attempting to stand up, but falling as she didn't realize her legs were fractured. Unknown to her, the puddle shifted and grew, taking the shape of a familiar face as she landed safetly in his arms as he held her in a bridal carry much to her complete surprise.

"Gebel!?" She gasped out in shock and pain as his warm smile and royal purple eyes gaze back to her.

"I got you." He reassured with a nod of concern as they suddenly vanished into the water. The next thing she knew, she heard the crashing of waves against the cliffside. Behind Gebel was a downright beautiful castle silhouetted by the full moon, was this where he was from? She also picked up on his manner of clothes and some kind of glimmering stone that showed on his exposed torso. She had so many questions, but he spoke before she could get the first one out.

"Save your strength, Katey. We have plenty of time to catch up on, I promise. But right now, there is a big secret that I want you to know." And with that, he reaches the end of the stone pier that poked out over the cliff edge and over the sea. To her total shock, he threw her, sending her far out as she plummeted into the sea. Her gaze looked on his as she caught his wink and happy smile. She looked around into the darkness of the ocean as she used her arms to steady herself. Her eyes taking in the sea life that was seemingly drawn to her still open wounds. Then they all swam away in various directions as if something spooked them. She looked around but couldn't find anything.

That's when she felt it, power that easily dwarfed hers. The darkness beneath her could barely hide it, but she could spot something down there in the depths. She almost panicked as a large creature swam up to greet her. It was almost a cross between a serpent and a whale, with multiple tendrils for limbs. Its size easily circled around her as she wonders if this was truly the end, that she was so fucking pathetic of a Satan that death by sea monster would her way out of life. She could only close her eyes and accept this, briefly wondering if Gebel meant this for her ever since they met. The creature moved closer as its dark eyes seemed to radiate curiosity as it observed her. Letting out a small dolphin-esque shitter, tis colossal form began to bubble and morph. Katerea was not sure what was going on with the sudden influx of movement as it soon stopped. She felt no pain beyond her current wounds as she peeked her eyes open.

In place of the sea monster that she believed she was to die to, was a woman, rather a mermaid. The fish half was longer than the average mermaid and bore striking vivid patterns along the scales. The fins were sharp and lined with barbs as they resembled something from a deep-sea predator than one of those fairy tale mermaids. The woman's human half was young and gorgeous, a bra of spiny starfish covered her bare breasts as what caught Katerea's attention the most was the woman's soft features. Long purple hair that went down to her thighs, pointed ears reminiscent of the pure-blooded devils, her crimson eyes exuded a calming love and two small horns peeked out of her hairline on her forehead.

To say Katerea was stunned by the sea woman's presence was something, what she did next got her even more. She swam up to the Leviathan descendant, gave the most loving smile Katerea had ever seen, and hugged her. One hand gently stroking Katerea's hair as she held her close. For her part, Katerea could only hold her composure for a few moments, the pain from her earlier abuse and the sudden shock of this revelation building up as she heard two words come from the woman, well, they echoed in her head as they were under water.

'My child.'

That was the proverbial final crack in the dam as Katerea Leviathan broke down into tears, hugging the woman back with all her might as the woman let her remaining family cry into her shoulder, giving nothing but love and support under the waves.

(Flashback End)

Katerea blinked as she wiped a tear from her eye as she was back to 'normal', the photo she had in her hand was of two women. One was the lady that Gebel got her in touch with, her family. She was posing with a grin and giving a peace sign and grin next to a sleeping woman. This one younger, but no less important as she found out about her soon after Gebel came clean about knowing who she was from the start. The young lady was Ingvild Leviathan, her cousin and publicly the last Leviathan alive. The photo itself was cute as the woman, who called herself Alma, had doodled on Ingvild's sleeping face with a sharpie and took a selfie to show off.

The sight of her family made her heart ache as it was her true desire in life, not just regaining the throne of Leviathan. She knew about her cousin and despite what the current 'King' of the Devils claimed, she didn't hate her, no she wanted to meet her as she wasn't the same bitch of a devil that left the Underworld after the Civil War. But that river is dried up now, no sense in dwelling on the past. The unnatural shuddering of the rift being fully open now grabbed her attention as she gave one final look to the picture before letting it reduce to wet goop with some magic.

"I'm sorry Alma, but this is something I must do, to repay for everything you both have given me." She gave a soft smile. Magic tendrils shimmered from her arms and dug into the reality tear, seeking around into the murky void as she soon found what she needed. Gritting her teeth, she began pulling back as something large was coming through the tear.

"Ingvild, we never got to meet, but I wish the best for you and any children you sire. Even if its with that boy." She muttered as sweat ran down her brow, putting in more effort as what she was pulling on was a large box of sorts, inscribed with all sorts of ancient texts from various locales all around the world. Surging more magic through her arms, she gave a final pull with a yell. The whole thing came through as the tear ripped more before sealing itself shut once its contents were free. Katerea let out a sigh as she composed herself and resumed her work, easily deciphering and undoing the inscriptions as they burned away to her solutions while she wrote them with a finger on the surfaces. She finished on the last one just as the booby trap that was built in activated.

"Fuck…" She grit her teeth with some blood seeping through as she gazed at the light spear that had pierced her abdomen and out her back. She grasped the weapon as it burned her palm and with a twist, shattered the tool into shards of floating light. With motions of her hands and more magic, the light particles all converged on the box surface that melted away to a complex lock, the light itself shifting and undoing all the locks as Katerea took a step back and smirked. Not bad for a bad bitch like herself to undo and complete the freedom of someone that was locked away and thrown in a hole. Only the sounds of locks and mechanisms coming apart filled the cave as she glanced at her wound. Nothing too bad, then again she should have expected something conniving like this from the one who put this prison here in the first place. A beautiful smile formed on her bloody lips as the final lock fell and the metal sarcophagus within the box that held her prize opened.

A foot came out, then the next…

A male figure slowly walked out of the prison, it was hard to make out any features as his chest length hair covered his face and barely wearable rags were draped over his emaciated body. She could barely see his gaunt face as she approached him just as he was gonna collapse from the fatigue that held him. She saw gaping holes along his joints and felt his lifeforce was so very faint, but not dying. After all, if you couldn't kill someone, the next best thing was to lock them away and bury them somewhere no one else could ever find them.

"I missed you…" She hugged him close before doing the unthinkable. Using her own blood smeared hand, she shaped her magic to form a connection from her body to his and began to transfer her life essence into him. It wasn't ideally the best form of healing, far from it, but she wasn't long for this world after being run through by a pure holy weapon through most of her vitals. She and he swapped positions as he was now sitting on the ground and holding her as she got weaker. She could see the pain in his eyes as a few tears slipped down her own. To be honest, Katerea never envisioned her life to go out like this, but life has an odd way of throwing a curveball occasionally.

Least it was better than what she sent a body double into for the Three Factions attempted assassination, she'd be the lowliest scum of the earth before she accepted defeat to the hands of that sleazy angelic shit-stain that called himself Azazel.

She reached up and brought his face close, leaning into give one final kiss full of passion and love to the man before her, the true king she pledged herself to.

"Thank you, for everything my dearest Emperor Gebel. I'm sorry for not coming sooner." She was hugged closer as Gebel couldn't even speak, but she could feel his pain as the spell was almost done, her body fading away into magic particles as only the uniform remained. He felt a bit… healthier, but he needed more to regain his peak as what she was giving was only so much as they sealed the gaping wounds he had along his body.

"There is a lot to clean up, but I know you'll be just fine. Look after Alma for me, my king." Her last words said, she hugged him once more as her form vanished, the sling ring dropping onto the sandy floor as Gebel gently picked up her glasses, the ones he gave her long ago. The rose etched frames glimmering within the dim light of the cavern as her light spell she had set up was slowly going out. He took a moment of silence to mourn the loss of Katerea, his free hand clenching in anger as his long nails dug into his palm. The time to recollect and mourn was later, right now he needed to get to work.

Snatching up the sling ring and the uniform Katerea wore. The man named Gebel opened a portal to the Underworld as he walked through into a nondescript alleyway. The portal shut behind him as it was night, well he presumed it was night given the Devils liked their purple skies. Sticking to the shadows, he managed to locate a small clothing store and helped himself inside the locked down establishment. Ignoring the shards of glass in his feet as he broke through the entrance, he got busy with some materials and articles of clothing, reshaping and using his magic to reform Katerea's robes into something more fitting for him. He also helped himself to whatever food he could find in the employee fridge as he stood in the break room. He made sure to clean up his bloody footprints and the broken glass before getting some paper before wetting his tongue and tapping his index finger to it. His saliva turning to ink as he wrote out a simple 'I.O.U' and left it on the cashier desk.

Just as the alarm was going off, he was back in the break room munching on some day-old burger from the fridge as he used the sling ring he melded into his current uniform. Took a moment and some golden sparks, but he managed to open up a portal, its destination unknown to almost anyone in the world as he gave a once over to himself. The clothes were reshaped and fit to resemble a mysterious 'dark ranger' outfit of leather and metal. The cloak was a rich crimson to compliment the obsidian looking metal armor and leathers. In a pinch it wasn't too bad. He gave a glance to Katerea's glasses as he pocketed them away and pulled up the hood to cover his head, striding through the portal as it blinked shut behind him.

How's it going guys, hope this adds more to the mystery and intrigue of what's to come, I'm on Yagami, Aizen and Madb's discord servers if you guys also want to reach me there. Hope you enjoy what you're reading and let me know what you think with a review or a PM. Ciao~
