"And there, fuse twenty-four!" Engineer announced triumphantly, installing the final fuse. With a sense of accomplishment, he firmly closed the circuit door, the satisfying click resonating through the dimly lit room.
"Great!" Matt declared. "Now let's get out of here and stop Hacker!"
"Allow me to do the honors!" With a graceful swoop, Digit ascended toward the lever, pushing it downward. The door soon opened, responding with a deliberate creak, unveiling a series of grand staircases that led down to a vast, spacious lobby.
The room boasted luxurious red and black striped wallpaper, carefully selected paintings, vintage cushioned wooden tables, and chairs. Potted ferns and other plants nestled in the corners. On the opposite side stood two imposing elevator doors, gleaming with a polished finish. As the Cybersquad and their friends stepped into the lobby, the faint echo of their footsteps resonated against the shiny tiled floor.
"Quite the fancy setup for a nefarious lair," Sniper commented, eyeing the lavish decor.
"I wholeheartedly concur!" King Friday responded with regal enthusiasm.
"Let's not get distracted. We need to find Hacker and put an end to this," Engineer urged.
"The sooner, the better!" Jackie sighed.
As they approached the elevators, the doors slid open smoothly, revealing a well-lit compartment with a control panel adorned with various buttons. "Well, this is our ticket to the surface. Everyone on board!" Inez declared, stepping into the elevator.
The group crowded into the spacious elevator, the doors closing with a soft hum. "Next stop, the surface and Hacker's defeat," Matt declared, eagerly pushing the button.
The elevator ascended with a gentle motion, and anticipation filled the air, their tension slowly beginning to ease. The soft hum of the elevator's ascent surrounded them. "Hang on, I just realized something." Jesse's voice suddenly cut through the quiet atmosphere.
The group turned their attention to Jesse. "What is it?" Inez asked, her voice quipped with curiosity.
Jesse hesitated for a moment, his brow furrowing in thought. "Do we even have a plan for taking down Hacker?" He asked, his concern obvious.
"What plan? We just gotta find Hacker, snatch that EverCrystal, and give him a good beating!" Scout replied confidently.
"I second that motion!" Soldier declared.
Twilight sighed, her brows furrowed. "It can't be just that simple. From what I know about Hacker, there's no way he's going to give up so easily."
"Besides, we can't just barge in there without a plan. That's just asking for trouble!" Engineer replied, concern etched on his face.
Dr. Marbles nodded, adjusting his glasses with a thoughtful expression. "Indeed, we also mustn't underestimate the challenges posed by Ms. Power and those formidable Zachbots. It's safe to say they won't make our mission a leisurely stroll in the park."
"And what about the other villains? They might not take kindly to us barging in and messing up their boss's plans," Lois carefully replied.
"I wouldn't worry about them too much!" Hacker's distorted voice echoed through the speakers. His words hung in the air, a taunting reminder of their vulnerability.
"Hacker!" The group shouted, their voices filled with a mixture of fear and anger.
"It's THE Hacker to you!" He shouted, before his voice turned to a soft sinister chuckle. "You really think you can stop me? How amusing. Your feeble attempts won't succeed."
The group exchanged uneasy glances, before they could formulate a response, the lights flickered, and the elevator began to shake violently, before shuddering to a halt.
A moment of silence engulfed them until Hacker's voice returned, now more menacing than before. "You're trapped. Your journey ends here. Say goodbye to the surface and your futile plans."
With that ominous declaration, the lights in the elevator went dark, plunging them into complete blackness. The ominous sound of metal groaning echoed, and the elevator began a sudden descent, the force pressing everyone against the walls.
"What's happening?!" Fluttershy shouted.
"He's cutting the power! Brace yourselves!" Dr. Marbles shouted as the elevator plunged into freefall. Panic and adrenaline surged through the group, their shouts mixing with the disconcerting sounds of creaking metal. All the while Hacker's distorted laughter echoed through the darkness.
The descent continued, the velocity increasing, and the disconcerting sounds of metal under stress intensified. Panic and uncertainty gripped the group as they braced for impact, their collective breaths held in suspense. The accident ended as quickly as it had started, and the elevator came to a crash. The sudden jolt of the elevator's impact sent the Cybersquad and their friends tumbling against one another, knocking them unconscious in a matter of seconds as everything turned to black.
….
Matt gradually opened his eyes, greeted by a blurred vision and a persistent pulsing ring in his ears. As he stood up, the throbbing in his head persisted. Around him, moans of discomfort began to fill the air as the others slowly regained their senses.
When Matt's vision finally cleared, he could discern the grim reality of their surroundings—a sprawling cityscape of interconnected prison cells hanging precariously from worn scaffolding. The scaffolding seemed on the verge of collapse, extending as far as the eye could see. The sky above resembled an endless night, shrouded in a blinding mist.
Lois voiced the shared sentiment, sighing with disappointment. "Welp, never thought I'd see this place again."
"Ugh! My head!" Rarity groaned.
"Where are we?" Petra softly asked, rubbing her head to soothe her headache.
"This was where we, as well as the other prisoners, are held." Brian explained.
"Prisoners? What do you mean prisoners?" Villager asked nervously.
"Allow me to illuminate the situation. After Hacker conquers a world, he incarcerates its inhabitants here, exploiting them for labor and, eventually, adding them to his legion of mind-controlled minions," Dr. Marbles explained."
"I'm going to assume that's bad…" Soldier noted.
"Is there a way out of here?" Fluttershy nervously asked.
"I'm guessing not…" Jesse replied softly.
"You'd be correct, Jesse." The Conductor chimed in. "Hacker has this entire facility locked up tighter than a drum, heavily guarded. Escaping from here is no small feat. Many desperate attempts have been made, but, unfortunately, few have succeeded."
"It's probably even worse now!" Jimmy Z cried.
"Hold on a minute, if this place is nearly impossible to escape, how did you manage to break free?" Rainbow Dash inquired.
"Oh, we pulled a fast one on the villains to open our cell!" Martha chuckled.
"Unfortunately, the button they pressed to unlock our cell also happened to unlock all the other cells." Chris Griffin added with a shrug.
"Yeah! And it caused quite a ruckus!" They all turned to see Gourmand, along with the other villains locked up in lower cells across from them. His voice carried a stern tone.
"I thought you were all working with Hacker?" Matt asked.
"We thought so too, but then he pulled the predictable move of betraying us and locking us up with the rest of you," Tirek replied with a hint of bitterness.
"Unfortunately, we didn't see it coming," Dabio added with a somber tone.
"This isn't the first time Hacker has played such a dirty trick. We need to find a way out, but it won't be easy." Dr. Marbles spoke up.
Twilight Sparkle, determined to find a solution, began channeling her magic. The glow of her horn illuminated the cell as she attempted to cast a spell.
"Save your energy, Twilight, Hacker has implemented anti-magic measures in this place. Your spells won't work." Cozy Glow interrupted.
Twilight sighed in frustration, the glow in her horn diminishing. "So, what do we do now?"
Amidst the gloom, Ms. Power's mocking voice echoed through the prison. "Oh, how the mighty have fallen. No magic to save you now, little pony." She then threw the four figures, who were none other than Dr. Two-Brains, Ledge, and Hacker's former henchmen, Buzz and Delete, into the cell with the rest of the villains.
Hacker entered shortly after her, his appearance drastically different from the Hacker they once knew. His cybernetic enhancements glowed with an eerie blue light, and his eyes bore a cold, calculating stare. The Cybersquad and their friends could hardly believe the transformation before them.
Max followed not too far behind him. He appeared on a small screen attached to a pole with wheels, the once-enthusiastic AI now wore a somber expression. "I... I'm sorry, Cybersquad," Max lamented, his voice tinged with sorrow. "This is not how I wanted things to turn out. I failed you."
A heavy silence hung in the air as the Cybersquad and their friends absorbed the shocking revelation. Hacker's menacing laughter echoed through the prison as he moved closer, reveling in his triumph. "Ah, the illustrious Cybersquad, finally brought to heel. Time is running out, and soon, the entire Multiverse will bow to my command!"
"I wouldn't be too confident if I were you Hacker!" Martin began. "You might have gotten all the crystals, but we'll never let you take over the multiverse!"
"That's right! We're going to find a way out, and we're going to stop you for good!" Inez declared.
Hacker chuckled condescendingly. "Oh, how valiant. Your futile resistance amuses me. I'll savor the moment when the last glimmer of hope extinguishes."
"Your overconfidence will be your downfall, Hacker!" Dr. Marbles coldly replied. "They've faced tough odds before and emerged victorious."
Hacker's laughter echoed through the prison. "Victorious? They've accomplished nothing but delays. The Multiverse is vast, and your insignificant efforts won't change its course."
Despite Hacker's malevolent laughter and taunts, Matt and the others stood resolute. Hacker leaned in closer to their cell, his cybernetic enhancements casting an ominous glow as he dismissed their determination.
"You're amusingly persistent, I'll give you that." Hacker sneered. "But let me be clear. There is no escape. Your defiance is futile.
Hacker leaned even closer, his eyes narrowing. "Once my takeover begins, your fate is sealed. I have no use for pests who dare oppose me. Dispose of you, perhaps? Yes, that seems fitting for those who dare challenge me."
The gravity of Hacker's words hung heavy in the air, but Matt's resolve remained unshaken. "We won't let you win, Hacker. No matter what."
Hacker straightened up, a sinister smile playing on his lips. "We shall see, Earth-brat." With that, he turned and left the cell, using his staff to summon a portal which he entered through. Ms. Power trailed behind him, turning towards them with a taunting smug on her face.
Max remained behind. His digital eyes conveyed a mixture of sadness and regret. No words were exchanged between the captives and their reluctant guard, leaving the cell in a heavy, uncomfortable silence.
