"Alright boys, that's enough work for now. Why don't you go inside and rest." Said Jesse as he gathered up the farming tools lying on the ground.

"Uncle Jesse, we've only been working forty minutes." Replied Luke.

"Yeah, we can keep going." Bo protested. Bo, Luke and Daisy had just been discharged from the hospital the week before. After being cooped up in the hospital room for as long as they had, all of them were eager to get back into their regular Hazzard routine.

"Now listen, that wasn't a suggestion, that was an order." Jesse stated. "Besides, I made beef stew, it's going to get cold if we don't go in to eat it soon." He took the rakes and shovels out of their hands and headed back towards the house, motioning for his nephews to do the same.

Daisy was in the kitchen already, setting the table. She and the other Duke members sat around the dinner table. They all bowed their heads, said Grace and started eating.

"I'm going into town today." Said Jesse. "Do you need me to get anything while I'm there?"

"Can I come to town with you?" Asked Bo, "I wanted to pick up some flowers and chocolate, then go to the hospital and thank Dr. Muhammad."

Luke glanced over at Bo, smirking. "I knew you liked her."

"Just cause I wanna give a woman flowers don't mean I wanna date her." Bo's tone was defensive, but in a playful way. "I just wanted to thank her for being our doctor, saving our lives and all."

"If you really don't have a crush on her, then why don't we all go give her the gifts together? She saved all our lives, after all." Daisy inquired, her eyebrows raised.

"I'm glad that you're all eager to show your appreciation to the doctor, but I'm not bringing anyone." Jesse clarified. "I have some important business to attend to and I don't know how long it's going to take." Jesse was incredibly grateful that Bo, Daisy and Luke were finally healthy again. Yet he still couldn't feel like the whole thing was past him. Boss Hogg could still arrest him, that thought kept coming back into his head. And instead of just sitting around and waiting for Boss Hogg to show up, Jesse was going to do something about it.

Jesse drove down to the bank, where he knew Boss Hogg would be this time of day. Upon opening the doors to Boss' office, Jesse was slightly taken aback by what he saw. Boss Hogg was sitting at his desk, as always. But there was something very off putting about him, in a different way than he usually was. Boss Hogg's eyes looked unfocused, the pupils dilated. He swayed very slightly, like he wasn't quite sure how to properly balance himself. He also barely reacted when Jesse walked towards the desk. He only looked up at Jesse, then looked away.

"What'd you want?" Boss asked, his speech slightly slurred.

"I, uh, came to talk about what happened with Bo, Luke and Daisy and the water at Hazzard Lake." Jesse said tentatively.

"What about it?" He stared blankly ahead.

"Well, I talked with some of the other folks who swam in the lake around the same time. Some of them were real wealthy people, they could sue you for damages if they wanted."

Boss Hogg didn't react right away, like his brain was taking its time in processing the information. "You're all going to sue me together?" He eventually replied.

"No. I don't think either of us want to go through a court trial. I came up with an easier solution." Jesse put some papers in front of the Boss. "You're going to write up a check for all the hospital bills, then sign a form stating that the lake is getting cleaned, and one more saying you won't try to press charges for damages caused by the concussion." Boss Hogg didn't respond. "J.D., do you understand what I'm asking?"

"I'm tired Jesse." Was his only response. "I'm really tired."

Jesse was a bit taken aback by the vulnerability being displayed by a man he wanted dead just a few weeks earlier. Of course, the whole situation was Boss Hogg's fault, but maybe, just maybe, Jesse was beginning to feel sorry for him.

Jesse sat down on a chair across from Boss Hogg's desk. "I reckon I can relate to feeling tired." He said.

"I reckon you could." Boss replied. "Bo, Luke and Daisy could too. How long were they in the hospital for?"

"A few days."

"It's awful being cooped up in a hospital." Boss sighed. "The food there tastes like cardboard. You aren't allowed to leave your bed. There's no way to scam people out of..." He trailed off.

"I think you better get some rest." Jesse spoke softly but firmly. "But before you do, just sign these papers for me, and I'll leave you be."

Boss Hogg managed to focus himself enough to sign all the papers, including the one saying he wouldn't press charges. Jesse nodded assuredly to himself. At least that was finally taken care of.

"Is Boss Hogg gonna be like that forever?" Daisy inquired. Jesse had come home and already explained the situation to her and the boys as they all sat around the family living room.

"No, I talked to the doctor. He said it will take a while, but he'll recover." Jesse replied.

"I'm surprised you didn't take advantage of the situation even more." Luke pondered.

"What'd you mean?" Bo asked.

"If he's really that out of it, you could have gotten him to sign over everything, I mean, you could have robbed him blind. And the whole thing would have been legal." Luke explained. Him and Bo glanced at each other. They were already starting to look antsy, like they were ready to go do it at a moment's notice.

"Hang on boys, just settle yourselves down. We got what we needed, we don't need anything else." Jesse replied.

"But Uncle Jesse, don't you think he deserves it." Daisy asked, her face getting hot. "One of us could have died because of what he did. I was coughing up blood because of him. We would already own this farm if we didn't have to pay so much bail to get out of his phony jail charges."

Daisy was on the brink of an anger induced panic attack.

Uncle Jesse intervened, gently put his hand on her shoulder. "I know Daisy. I understand why you feel that way. Just take a few deep breaths." Daisy took deep breaths, in and out, and in and out again. Her white knuckle fists soon became replaced by tears running down her face. She pulled Uncle Jesse towards her, crying softly into his shoulder. Bo and Luke didn't move from their seats. They both looked like they were on the brink of crying tears of anger themselves.

"I know you're upset. Believe me, I was too." Uncle Jesse was addressing all three of them as he spoke "But the way I see it, the best revenge against your enemy is making sure you are nothing like them."
