"So this thing was thrown at Saphira through the vent?" Freddy asked curiously as he eyed off the strange Freddle on the table. Springtrap had brought the Freddle out of the office to show the others the tiny animatronic. Bonnie stood by the table while Saphira had gone searching for a pair of gloves. Freddy was leaning down as he eyed off the small bot curiously. Springtrap nodded affirmatively to Freddy's question. "Hmm…this thing looks different to the other Freddles. Aside from that larger abdomen, it seems to…hmm, the jaws look like they can't move anyway."
"That's what I noticed." Springtrap had taken a closer look once Saphira had finished her shower and took her time getting dressed. "I am not entirely sure if this Freddle has ever functioned, but there is some kind of message being sent here. But I am not sure exactly. And that rubbery thing inside the Freddle…I am not sure what it is."
"The only thing we do know is that it stinks!" Nightmare said bluntly as he had his hand covering his nose. "I can totally see why Saphira showered once some that fell onto her pants. Even I would be scrubbing my body for a few hours just to make sure I did not smell." He leaned down closer to it curiously. "Still…" He tilts his head as he gazed at it curiously. "Does anyone have an idea of what this could mean?"
Fredbear was rubbing his chin thoughtfully as he stared at the Freddle. "Well…" All eyes were immediately on his as he spoke. "It is a strange message, if I am honest. There are no letters, there is no note, just some strange rubbery thing within the Freddle. And the Freddle itself must have been here for a while."
"Clearly, Afton has been waiting for someone to send this message," Chica said slowly with a worry expression on her face. "Errrgghh, this is creeping me out." She shuddered nervously as she thought about it. "Hopefully it is not a weird message…but I guess we won't know for sure until Saphira takes a closer look at it."
"Just remember, she might not know either." Bonnie looked at the door as Saphira opened it, grimacing as she caught the awful smell from the Freddle. "I hope you were able to find the gloves that you needed." She nodded as she began to put the gloves on as she walked over. "Good. I am not sure what can be done about the smell…"
"I honestly think the smell is the least of our concerns. Afton has sent me a message, and I have to know what it is." Saphira grabbed out her flashlight and pointed the light at the Freddle. "At first glance, clearly nothing seems to make sense. But I am sure with a closer inspection, I will figure something out. Can someone how this for me?" She held the flashlight out to the animatronics. Springtrap smiled as he took the flashlight from her hand, and Saphira smiled, grabbing out a pair of pliers and screwdriver. "Now I will admit, I am not entirely what I am going to be doing, so bear with me. This could take a while to do."
Springtrap chuckled lightly as Saphira took a seat at the table. She was nervous about what she could find, but there may not be anything she could understand. "Take your time with it, Saphira. We have plenty of time tonight to unpack and understand it. Or hopefully understand it."
Saphira nodded as she agreed. The first thing she wanted to do was to remove the casing of the Freddle completely. She did not want to remove the rubbery thing stuff to the Freddle's endo. Though the rubbery thing was a weird bean-shape figure, so she was not entirely sure if that was the message itself. She took a deep breath as she began to work on removing the casings of the Freddle slowly and carefully. She did this by forcing the screwdriver under the casings where she could fit it, and using the pliers to lift the casings away.
What she found was interesting. There was a lot of rust and old wiring within this Freddle. It was strange because she thought the Freddles were not old. But maybe not all of them were old. But this thing was old. She did wonder if that meant this Freddle had been in the attraction for years. She did not even know how long the Freddles even existed. But clearly it was long enough for run to end up rusting like this. Saphira guessed this Freddle was at least a year or two old, and the joints were completely stiff as well. She wouldn't be able to move them no matter how hard she tried.
Not to mention the casing as well. It was rather brittle compared to the well cared for Freddles she has seen. The casings those little animatronics had were new, and firm. The casing on this Freddle was not. In fact, it almost felt plastic, compared the metal that was normally used. It was a very odd choice, that was for sure. But as this Freddle might not have ever been active, the metal would not have been required.
She eventually removed the casing from the head, back and shoulders, but she left the casing on the legs as she doubted there was anything to find there. And there was literally nothing that she could find, other than more rust and some moisture from condensation. She guessed that pretty much left the stomach. The bean-shaped rubber thing that was stuck to the endo. She didn't want to touch it, but that must have been the message that Afton was trying to send.
But what the hell does this even mean?!
Saphira used the srewdriver to carefully inspect the rubber piece. There was no physical message, but this clearly was a message of a sort. The only thing she could think of this rubber thing was meant to show her something Afton wanted. She continued inspecting it until she grabbed it with the pliers, and it was a little too hard, because it seemed to squirt out tiny pieces of metal, which startled her. She frowned as the metal pieces hung from the rubber like tiny wiring and she shook her head in frustration.
"I have no idea." Saphira was also still very disgusted by this thing. She wanted to get rid of it. "I want to throw it away, but…I feel like we can't. This is a clue. But I don't know if this was aimed at me, or Springtrap."
Springtrap frowned slightly as he did not believe that. "Maybe. I have a suspicion that aside from my appearance, and that there are no other Springtrap designs made from him, I have been made for a purpose. I am not sure what. I doubt it had anything to do with you at the time, but…I don't know."
"I agree. I highly doubted Afton expected a kid to ever go up to you like I did. You were certainly going to be used for something." Saphira looked at the Freddle before grimacing. "Alright, I really want to just spray this thing with disinfectant. It stinks, and there is still slime inside that stomach cavity." She shuddered a little and wrapped the tissue around it. "Though if we can hide it somewhere without an employee finding it, maybe I can figure out the metaphor later."
"Maybe in the basement. That might be the place to put it. Putting it in the diary basement might not be a good idea." Saphira liked Bonnie's suggestion and she nodded in agreement. Bonnie walked away to grab some paper towel to wrap another layer around the Freddle. "It is interesting that this is something he wants. Another piece to his twisted game."
"Yeah…it sure is." Saphira hated that this is part of Afton's game. It frustrated her, and she hated it. "And honestly, I don't want to focus on this for the rest of the night. It is an odd, but direct way for him to play another piece, but I don't have an interest in trying to understand it. At least not right now. Maybe I'll figure it out later, but not tonight." She took a deep breath and looked at Springtrap. "At least my head feels better. Maybe we should go and do some splatter painting. We just got to make sure we clean up before the end of the night."
Springtrap smiled and he turned the flashlight off before handing it to Saphira. "Sounds like a great idea! I will go and get it set up." Springtrap walked around Saphira happily before looking at the Freddle. "And whoever wants to, you can leave this in the basement."
Bonnie grabbed the Freddle now that he had wrapped it, and gathered the pieces of the casing to get rid of them as well. "I will go and deal with it. I am kind of curious about this splatter paint."
"Oh! It is so much fun!" Phantom Chica exclaimed happily with a big smile.."I got to participate in it early today with some teenagers, and it was a lot of fun. The painting did turn out like nothing, just paint everywhere, but it was fun to throw the darts at the balloons and watch the paint bust out."
Nightmare grinned as he too liked the idea of it. "Hmm, sounds like an intriguing activity. It might be something I could do as well. But it is only fair that Saphira and Springtrap get to do it before we do." He looked at Saphira as she walked over to a bin and pulled off her gloves. "I don't suppose we could watch."
"Well…" Saphira glanced at Springtrap who seemed to not like the idea. She smiled a little and looked at Nightmare politely. "Maybe later, I think it is best if Springtrap and I spend time on our own for a little bit, Nightmare. It is pretty much needed after all."
Nightmare nodded as he understood. "Very well, I understand," He said with a smile. Saphira threw the gloves into the bin and walked over to the bathroom. "I guess we could play basketball again, or we will figure something else out. I really don't want to be bored every single night."
"You also need to figure out how to channel your emotions a bit better," Chica said bluntly with a slight frown. "While we don't always do much at the pizzeria, we are not always bored. That is because most of the time we have to be listening and waiting for potential trespassers. As there is no rain tonight, we might get some visitors."
Saphira would not be surprised, but she also would hope for that to not happen. She walked over to the vanity to wash her hands. Even though she had worn gloves to protect her hands from the scent of the Freddle, she felt the need to wash them anyway. She could not help but smile as she was looking forward to spending time with Springtrap tonight. She has not done splatter paint before, but she was looking forward to it.
Once she finished washing her hands, she walked out of the bathroom to make her way to the Haunted Classroom. Nightmare was still talking with the other animatronics about what else they should do in the pizzeria, but Saphira did not join in the conversation. Bonnie had taken the Freddle away so that there was no lingering smell, though Toy Chica ended up grabbing some air freshener to spray around the dining room, which Saphira completely agreed with. She too planned on spraying air freshener in the office, as the smell was stilling lingering in there at the moment.
For now, she made her way to the Haunted Classroom. Saphira did not know what room of the area would contain the paint stuff, but she was incredibly intrigued and excited by the idea. Once she reached the area, Saphira had to search which room exactly had the paint and craft in it. It did not take long, and she saw the door was wide open when she approached it. Inside, she saw Springtrap had already filled a few balloons with paint, and they were currently stuck to two canvases.
Springtrap looked up and smiled at her. "I hope to get these all finished in a moment, Saphira. I am realizing this is quite messy." There were a lot of paint tins around, and Saphira smiled as she saw that there was definitely many colors to go with. "Um…I guess I should have set this up already…but I did not know if you wanted to do this until now."
"And it is totally okay, Springtrap." Saphira walked over and grabbed a balloon. "I can help you. You don't need to do it all on your own. I am more than capable of filling balloons with paint as well." She stretched the neck of the balloon to fill it with blue paint. "We can wash our hands afterwards."
Springtrap did not try to stop Saphira as he was happy that she was willing to help. Covering the canvas would take a bit of time regardless of if it was just one or both of them. But it was a lot of fun. Even Springtrap found it fun, despite getting paint on his hands and wrists, he really did not mind. It was easy to wash it off his body, as the paint had to be washed from the bricks of the Haunted Classroom.
"This is your last year of school, right?" Springtrap asked curiously as he filled a balloon with green paint. She looked at him in surprise and she nodded a little. "It is kind of strange to me…" She raised an eyebrow at him as she listened to him while she filled a balloon with yellow paint. "You were only a small girl in primary school the last time we met…" She softened her eyes immediately as he spoke about the past. "And now you are almost eighteen…it is hard to believe."
She nodded in agreement. "I guess so. To tell you the truth, I don't really think much about my age anymore." He tilts his head slightly as he listened to her curiously. "After Jeremy…well…I guess you already know…but I haven't celebrated my birthday since that day. I don't even get a cake. I look at them, and I feel sick just thinking about it."
Springtrap tied the balloon he had in his hands as he pondered on what she had just said. "Could it be because you feel like it is not fair that he is dead and you are alive?" Springtrap asked her curiously, and she nodded. Springtrap did not know how to respond to that. He remembered just how happy Saphira was to celebrate her birthday. But she was with them when she had her birthdays. "I guess I can understand. You probably think that you should have died too." She nodded again and she tied the balloon she had and walked over to the canvas to pin it. "If you had, I would have gone on believing you just left. I would still be angry and hurt."
"I know. Life is not fair." Saphira did not want to turn this moment into a sad moment. She refused to do that. "I don't want to talk about this, Springtrap. It…It is a subject I would prefer not to talk about, please."
"Sorry…I guess I was trying to do some small talk, and it went that way." Springtrap smiled at her as he pinned the balloon he had in his hands. "Anyway, um, how is your school going? Since you are almost finished, it must feel good to reach the end of it all and get ready for college."
"Yeah, but I have decided not to go to college." Springtrap looked at her in surprise and she shrugged at him. "I mean, I really can't go at the moment, and honestly, I don't want to." The animatronic thought she was crazy right now as he assumed she wanted to. "I am honestly just happy to get my high school diploma, Springtrap. I don't have the drive to do anything else in my life."
Springtrap did try to think back to the times he had spent with Saphira. He could not remember anything that would indicate what Saphira would have wanted to become as an adult. Nothing. He could not remember anything. "Hmm…I don't remember that you told me anything either."
"At the time, I had no idea. Plus, I was a kid, and kids can dream about the future, but I suppose I wasn't dreaming. Maybe because I just wanted to always come here…maybe it has always been my dream to work here, I don't know." Saphira shrugged as she grabbed another balloon to fill with some more blue paint. "I guess I stopped thinking about the future a long time ago."
Springtrap could not help but feel troubled. He has known that humans go to college, at least that is what he overhears a lot from young humans and adults. It seemed to be an important place for education, and here Saphira was admitting that she never wanted to go in the first place. And she has basically stopped wanting a future for herself. That accident certainly impacted her a lot it would seem, even if she would not admit it.
"Maybe in a small way, this was your dream job. You are here now, despite everything so far. And I think you really shook look at it differently too. You are here with animatronics who care about you, who see you as part of the family." Saphira smiled at him as she definitely saw it that way. She could actually be herself here compared to at home. Springtrap finished filling another balloon and walked over to the canvas to pin it. "So I believe you wake up every day with a smile knowing you are coming here."
She nodded. "I do now." Springtrap nearly grimaced as he knew exactly what she meant. "Thanks for reminding me of that perspective. And I know it shocks people to know I won't be going to college. My parents don't care, they're going to use the money they saved for me for my sister instead, and she'll get a full ride to college honestly. But I don't want to go to college for something I have no passion for, so..."
"What about art?" Springtrap interrupts gently with a smile. "You are extremely good at it, and I honestly think that you could make a career out of it if you put your mind on it."
Saphira had considered art school. But she still did not want to do that. She preferred drawing and painting without the pressure of teachers. Artists don't even need to go to college anymore to make money, and she knows it. "Well...I could do that. But no, not even that. I'd rather have the freedom to draw without pressure. I have considered potentially creating commissions for others, at least I would have a hobby that would generate additional money."
"And I think that would be a wonderful idea!" Springtrap began filling another balloon with purple paint. "Your talent really needs recognition, Saphira. You draw very, very well. And I know I could be a bit biased, but that is what I believe."
"Yeah, well…I'll think about it." She tied the balloon in her hands before walking over to the canvas to pin the balloon. She turned away with a smile and looked at her hands. They were covered in paint, and she could not help but chuckle a little before she turned around to walk back over to the table. "Anyway…I think we should try and do this again tomorrow as well." Springtrap smiled immediately at her suggestion. "We can do something else another time, but this will be fun."
Springtrap nodded in agreement. "Good. Maybe we could…aside from hockey, as I still assume you want to play with me, we could play Charades."
"Ooh! Charades! I love that game!" Saphira giggled as she knew how silly Charades can get. "That will be a lot of fun. If we do, we should make popcorn!" Springtrap looked at her in surprise and raised an eyebrow. "Well, the last time I played Charades, my former friends and I would have popcorn. And I kind of enjoyed eating popcorn while playing the game. I can bring the corn, so that won't be a problem."
"Sounds…interesting…" Springtrap lifts the balloon out of the paint to tie it up. "Um…this is going to awkward…but…I haven't eaten popcorn before. I am not entirely sure if I will like it." Saphira was aware. The animatronics haven't all had the chance to try other food, so this would be an experience for him, that was for sure. "But I will give it a try. I have seen popcorn, it smells nice…well, the butter popcorn does. The cotton candy popcorn, caramel popcorn and the salt and vinegar popcorn all have weird smells. I am not sure if I will like them."
"Eh, that's totally fine. I prefer just plain salted and buttered popcorn myself. So you don't need to worry about those flavors." Springtrap seemed happy by it and he walked over to the canvas. "I might get something else too. I am sure that Nightmare will want to get in on the fun."
"He most certainly will. He is showing a very naïve attitude, that is for sure. But I can forgive him. He is still learning." Springtrap lifts the balloon up to the canvas to pin it. "Nightmare might have gotten under my casing earlier, but he is misreading a few things."
"Honestly, I agree. But Nightmare is very nice. I have yet to really spend time with all the nightmare animatronics though." Saphira knew that she had to spend time with the other nightmare animatronics to get to know them. "I am sure I will enjoy their company as much as I enjoy his. He was a lot…" Saphira paused as the balloon Springtrap had pinned to the canvas fell suddenly and hit the top of his head, exploding the paint over his and onto the canvas. He stumbled back with a groan, surprised that had happened. "Oh no…" Saphira could not help but start to laugh. "That is definitely the major risk when it comes to pinning those paint balloons."
"Ugh…seems that way…" Springtrap turned as he wiped his forehead in an attempt to keep the paint from his eyes and nose. "Egh…this is not our night…first Nightmare smacks you in the face, then a stinking Freddle gets thrown at you, and now I paint on my head!"
Saphira walked over to him and grabbed his hand. "It could be much worse, Springtrap." Springtrap nodded in agreement. "Come on, we should get you cleaned up. The Haunted Classroom bathroom is next to this room, so we don't have to go far." Springtrap grimaced a little. "I know it is a little grosser than the other one you are used to, but the paint is dripping onto the floor, and we need as little clean up as possible."
Springtrap guessed that Saphira was right. His eyes glance down at the girl's hand, as he had not expected her to take his head and he could not help but feel a sense of happiness. "Alright…lead the way. Hopefully no one else will see me like this."
Saphira shrugged with a smirk. "To be fair, I think people would still run from you, and I would be the one to stand by you." The animatronic did not react to her comment as he did not particularly like it. Saphira just chuckled and walked with Springtrap to the bathroom. She was lucky there was a shower stall with a removal shower head. "Alright, get into the shower." Saphira grabbed the shower head and looked at Springtrap. "We can get most of the paint off here."
Springtrap walked into the shower, feeling a little cramped as the ceiling was a little lower for him, and he had to curl his left ear downward to prevent it was hitting the ceiling. He looked at Saphira as she turned the shower on. "It does not bother you that you might get wet? Or that paint my splash on you?"
She shook her head. "Nope. Not at all. Water will dry, and the paint is easy to just wash away. You are being worried over the wrong thing, Springtrap." She chuckled as she lifts the shower to Springtrap's shoulders as she aimed it at the back of his head, watching the paint run off his body. "Mmm, hmm, just as I suspected. Easy for it to run off. At least once we are finished, we can get some darts to throw at the balloons we currently have, and enjoy the rest of the night."
"Sounds good to me," Springtrap said with a smile as he enjoyed the shower. "At least it will be an easy clean up, hopefully. But I know that while the splatter paint might be fun, setting it up seems to take a while."
"It certainly does, but that's the fun part of it. We don't even need two canvases, we could just have the one and have a fun race to see who can pop all the balloons." Saphira could easily imagine them having a heap of fun. Though as she rinsed the paint from Springtrap's body, the steam from the shower rising from his body and the streaks of water, and even the paint, seemed to make Saphira…well, she wasn't sure how she felt. Her heartrate was increasing, and she felt as though she was going to blush. But she kept herself controlled for the time being. "And since we can have our own art room, we can use it for painting in general. I might even get some charcoal, as that is always fun to use for art. Sometimes I create my…" A sudden, high pitched scream outside the bathroom made Saphira shriek in surprise and drop the shower head, letting it hang from the connection and run into the shower to hide behind Springtrap. The sudden scream had surprised him too as he stared at the door. Saphira took a deep breath to try and relax her heart. "Oh my god! There must have been…" She covered her ears with a grimace as there was some shouting and screaming outside. "Trespassers."
Springtrap guessed that was most likely the case as well. But he did not move. He hummed softly as he looked at Saphira, pulling her closer protective, and flinching when she hugged him. She didn't care there were still some streaks of paint left on his body, and her clothes were now damp from the water. He smiled a little and rubbed her back as she took her time to relax before helping him to finish getting cleaned from the paint to go back. They cleaned up the paint from the ground, though with the high pitched screams, Saphira was not as enthusiastic about the paint splattering as she had been before. She still had fun, but it was obvious she had been disturbed, and while she did not see any dead bodies, she knew there had been. And it was enough to disturb her on top of the weird Freddle that had been thrown at her.
