The next few days seemed to be quite a struggle for Saphira. Her elbow was healing, though it was rather stiff and sore to move for the first couple days. The swelling around her elbow had gone down, which she was very grateful for as that reduced the pain she had been feeling. But it was still sore and hard to move, so Saphira had to be careful. It did make driving a little awkward too, but her car is an automatic, so she at least did not have to change gears while driving. That would have caused an accident, and Saphira still feared getting into another accident. Though she did take it very cautious when she was driving.
And as for the remote-control car, with her injured elbow, she has not made much progress. She has mostly been learning more about robotics and wiring. Having only a single hand to actually make modifications on the little toy car was nearly impossible, so Saphira knew she could only wait. Plus, it has prevented her from even doing anything fun with the animatronics in the pizzeria as well. The only thing she could do was talk, mostly. But the animatronics found ways to entertain her.
As for Nightmare, he has actually been avoiding Saphira. He seems to be feeling extremely guilty for what he had done. While he did not actually attack Saphira, he knew that he could have and he was so close to losing control. He's been spending his nights in the Bedroom of Nightmares each night. Nightmare Freddy has reassured Saphira that he will come out eventually, but he just needs time. And Saphira guessed that she would not be able to force him. She felt bad for him because it was not his fault to begin with. Afton was the one responsible. He made them that way.
The one thing that Saphira was able to do was to try and seek out the person who pushed her on social media. She found the Instagram accounts for Hayley, Carly and Lisa to see who it could have been. Immediately, she learned it was not Lisa. Lisa had a lot of images of New York, and it seemed her parents have moved there for work, according to her Instagram. This pretty much left Hayley and Carly. They both seemed to still be in the city. Which pretty much meant it could be either girls. Especially as they had the same hair length, and both had curly blonde hair. This really did not help her at all.
Saphira was going through social media on her phone as she was sitting in the office. She had already done her rounds, and it was just after twelve right now. She was mostly trying to think of the person who had pushed her, and compare their face with those two girls. Though Saphira did know that Hayley also had a younger sister, which was always a possibility. Though she didn't know what Hayley's sister looked like, as the girl never participated with Hayley when the girl was bullying others. Saphira knew for a fact that Hayley bullied others, not just her.
She was very deep in thought enough to the point she did not hear Springtrap walking into the room, and looking over her shoulder at the phone. He had noticed her concentrated expression, and as he got closer, he saw she was looking at images of several different girls. He was surprised as they were blonde with curly hair and blue eyes, and he worried for a moment that Saphira might be jealous of girls with blonde hair. He felt she didn't need to feel jealous at all.
He looked at her face curiously to see the concentration before he began to speak. "What are you looking at?" She jumped and looked at him in surprise, turning her phone off quickly. "Saphira, I saw what you were looking. Blonde girls. You know you don't need to be jealous of them. Black hair and green eyes are beautiful, and…" Springtrap could see she was surprised by the compliments as she was blushing. "I think they're not as beautiful."
"Um…" She really had not expected anyone to a walk in as she thought the animatronics would do something else for the moment. "Thanks for the compliments, Springtrap, but that is not why I was looking at these girls." He tilts his head as he did not seem to believe her. "I know you might not believe me, but I am being honest. Um…this is for a different reason."
Springtrap still did not believe her. She placed her phone on the desk and he smiled a little at her. "Saphira, you can admit to it. You don't need to feel any sense of shame. If you have been feeling down, and you were wishing to have a different hair color, eye color, just know that there is no reason to feel that way. But you could always get Toy Bonnie or Toy Chica to pamper you again, and let you wear some dresses."
She chuckled a little as the offer was nice, but it was unnecessary. "Springtrap…look, I get you are being nice. And I fully appreciate that you think that I am jealous. But I am not…because…" She sighed as she looked at her phone. "I knew those girls back in school…" Springtrap was immediately surprised before he seemed embarrassed for assuming. "It's okay, Springtrap. Some girls do look at the social media of other girls, and they do wonder why they aren't like them. But, the thing about social media is, anyone can make their life look like a lie. So I don't look at social media and think that someone else has it better than me."
Springtrap looked away from her as he was still feeling embarrassed, and he cleared his throat. "Um, I, uh…well…um…I guess I jumped to a silly conclusion." She nodded as she agreed that he did. "But…you knew those two girls? Were they friends of yours?" Her smile immediately faded, and that was his answer. "I see…they weren't your friends…so why are you looking up their social media? I don't understand."
Saphira sighed and opened her phone to show him. "Springtrap…that…person who hurt the other day…I recognized them." He was even more surprised by her response. "I knew three girls. Their names were Hayley, Carly and Lisa, and…well, I knew Hayley longer than the other two, but…they were far from friends. Hayley, for some reason, hated me since I was in kindergarten."
"Really?" Springtrap looked at the images of the girls Saphira showed him. She also showed him an image of Lisa. He hummed and folded his arms for a moment. "Did you ever figure out why Hayley hated you?"
Saphira shook her head. "Not really. Whenever I would ask, she simply would say she hated that I existed. I never got a real answer. And to be honest, I don't even know if she remembers why she hates me. But…she never made school easy…" She looked at the image of the three girls as she remembered the past. "I can say Lisa was not the one who is here. Her Instagram shows a lot of New York, and it seems like she has moved to that city sometime ago. So I can clear her, it is just Hayley and Carly, and possibly Hayley's little sister."
Springtrap observed Saphira quietly as he was curious to know how bad it was for Saphira in school. "You never told us, aside from Aaron, that you were bullied by someone else. Why didn't you?"
"I guess it wasn't a piece of information I didn't think was important, to be honest." She shrugged and thought back to when she was in school. "Plus, I did have a few friends in school before my brother died, so I didn't think of it as a big deal. Though I guess since you are asking…" She tapped her fingers on the desk for a moment. "I don't know if I should try to find it, but there is a video that was taken the week before I left school for good. And…all three girls, with Aaron and some other kids…well…it wasn't exactly a fun week."
"They attacked you?" She looked at him in surprise as she never had mentioned that had happened. "I'm right, aren't I? They attacked you when you were in school." She nodded as that was what happened. Springtrap did not know how to feel about that. But he looked at her arm and he frowned. "Huh…and now one of them has attacked you again."
"I don't think it would have been out of spite. They might have realized that you guys were were alive, and they were afraid. With no animatronics with me, one of those girls left the building because she had seen a chance to escape. I don't think think it was ill intent, plus it has been years since they saw me. I'd be surprised if they even remember me." She looked at the phone again and frowned. "Hayley did not just bully me though. She bullied so many others…including Aaron, until he turned on me and joined her group of friends. Though I don't think they were real friends." She noticed Springtrap clenching his hands as he kept his arms folded. "Springtrap, there is no use in getting mad at something that happened in the past."
"Maybe not, but knowing that makes me think…and makes me understand why you loved coming here as a kid. You were coming here to escape from those feelings of pain. And you were probably bullied for liking this place too, right." She nodded, though she did not want to go into detail on what exactly happened when it came to her liking this pizzeria. "If I had known, maybe I would have done things that were a lot more fun than what we did."
She placed her hand on his arm gently as she gave him a sympathetic expression. "Thinking over what ifs, is not going to change the past, Springtrap. We all think back to things that have happened in the past. We always wonder what we could have done to improve our situation at the time, but we cannot let those thoughts make us upset. I…I still think that way about the accident, mostly. And it hurts all the time." Springtrap listened and he understood what she was telling him. "I am sure you had many thoughts of what ifs when I didn't come back. It hurts when you think of those things. So I don't think it's worth for you to get worked up about something that happened years ago."
He wanted to believe she was right. But if Saphira recognized the girl who had attacked her, then the girl might have recognized her too. "I guess I want to understand. Especially if they did attack you physically."
Saphira could tell that she wasn't going to get out of telling Springtrap about Hayley. "Alright, fine. Hayley bullied me from the start. She started with calling me names, taking toys from me and she pushed me off the slide once, and I had almost broken an arm then too. As time progressed, she got more verbally abusive to me. She once tried to tell the teacher I cheated on a test, when she had cheated, and the teacher caught her…but it didn't get as bad until I lost my brother." Springtrap couldn't understand why human children would torment other human children who have lost relatives. "When that happened, it got worse. Not only did Aaron torment me, but Carly and Lisa both joined in, and Hayley loved it. I was threatened, told to kill myself and so on. They even poured water with red dye over my head once."
Springtrap frowned deepened at the very idea of that. "Why? Did they pour that on you as a symbol of blood?" She nodded with a shrug. "That's kind of…insulting to me…but…" Springtrap shook his head. "It is a shame you never had the confidence to defend yourself. But I would want to know why the girl hated you. Clearly, there was a reason, and she has stuck with the reason. I don't recognize any of those girls, so they haven't been here. And the scent is new to me as well."
"I honestly don't think I will ever get the reason, Springtrap. And I am okay with not knowing." Saphira looked at her phone again before she set it down. "I guess I was looking at social media in case there was any sign from either Hayley or Carly that they might have been here. People who are popular on Instagram will do that a lot, so that is why I have been spying on their social media."
"I see." Springtrap finally understood why she was looking at their social media. He was glad that it was not because of low self esteem. He smiled at her and relaxed his body. "And…about before…I just hope you never think of yourself as ugly anymore. I know you did say once before, until Toy Bonnie and Toy Chica convinced you to dress up."
Saphira had a warm smile as she listened to him. "I appreciate your kind words, Springtrap. I really do. Thank you." He shrugged and rubbed the back of his head, and she chuckled. "I have to say, I don't think I've seen you embarrassed like this." He did not react to her and just stood listening to her, while seemingly unsure on what more to say. "It's definitely unusual, but I also find it highly amusing. But don't be embarrassed for trying to encourage me, Springtrap. It was really nice of you to do that."
Springtrap was glad that she was not bothered. He knew that he was acting weird about it, but he truthfully wanted her to not feel bad about herself. "You are welcome. You know…" He glanced at her ponytail that Saphira wore every day. "We have seen so many people that come through here. Including the trespassers. Some we consider ugly, some we consider ordinary and sometimes pretty…but none of them are you."
Saphira felt herself blushing and she ran her hand through her loose, hair strands. "Um…I still consider myself average, Springtrap. I think you might be looking at just my eyes, half the time. Green eyes are rare, but…"
"Maybe I am." Springtrap could see she was still doubtful about herself. "But…you really should take the compliment from us. We are not human, and we have learned what we would consider to be beauty in humans. But it is nice that you aren't vain about your appearance. I have seen way too many teenagers who think a little too highly of themselves."
"I can't really argue with that one." Saphira has seen that way too often, but not one says anything as it wasn't worth saying. "Still…" She was still blushing from his compliment. "I still don't get my I am considered pretty. Especially…"
"Is it not more important to look past the exterior?" She blinked as she had not expected him to say that. "You have done that a lot to us, Saphira. We know how important it is to not focus on just the external. You taught us that." She smiled as she knew she had. "And I believe that you are beautiful. Inside and out. I could call you beautiful for the sake of your appearance, but your personality is also beautiful."
She felt her blush deepened and she did not know how the respond to that. "Well…thanks…anyway…" She shrugged as she did not know what more to say. "Oh, um…earlier as well…Mike and Afton are heading off on whatever they going to do from tomorrow."
"Tomorrow? It is finally happening." Springtrap was not all too happy by it. "The implications of those couple weeks is concerning to me. I know we don't know what Afton and Mike are truly up to, but it is planned. And now you have to figure out the next piece of the puzzle, according to Afton. I guess he told you when you showed up this morning." She nodded as that is exactly what happened. "Hmmph…I guess it's to be expected."
"I am worried too. Especially because we don't know what they are doing." Saphira still wanted to go to the property she had tracked Afton to. And while she couldn't modify the toy car she had at home, she still could check the property out to see if Mike and Afton would be there. "And he told me the additional things I need to do."
"He did? What were they?"
Saphira gestured to Mike's computer. "Mike told me that I will be needing to do an inventory check on things like cleaning chemicals, tools and so on. And I need to put in an order through his computer. He showed me how to do it before he left. And he also said that there will be a special delivery for Halloween…whatever that means…so I need to make a large for pumpkins next week."
Springtrap frowned in surprise. "We only ever use fake pumpkins for decorations, not really ones. And I am pretty sure we only ever use the same stuff we use each year. A little weird he wants to get real pumpkins…oh well. That isn't the weirdest thing he could have made you do, so I guess that is good. Though…" He glanced the computer curiously and looked at Saphira. "Kind of a coincidence, don't you think?"
"If you are talking about the Freddle that had connected with the computer a few days ago, you aren't wrong. I don't think it is a coincidence, I think that this was planned." Saphira really did not want to use the computer as she did not know if there was stuff on there that she would find that she would dislike. Though Afton could have also done the opposite, and removed a lot of the stuff as well. She would prefer if he had removed files from the computer. "He did not say much else, other than he'll let me know if he wants me to do something for him."
Springtrap was not comfortable about this at all. Mike could request her to do anything, and Saphira could refuse at the cost of her being attacked by the Freddles again. It really made him uneasy as he pondered more on it. If this was another way for Afton to ensure she plays the game right, or perhaps, pull strings like they would for a puppet, it was definitely a ploy that they had up their sleeves for her. And Springtrap worried about how much he would be able to protect her from.
"I guess you can only do what you have to do for now." She nodded slowly as she thought more about it. Springtrap looked away from the computer to change the subject. "Also, you remember when Fredbear made a comment about how this play always had secret places?" She looked at him in surprise. "I always thought this was not a pizzeria. Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy always spoke about an old location, and then they were moved here."
"I think both is true. Fredbear was the first animatronic here, and I was a toddler when I met him, so it is possible this was Fredbear's Family Diner, and there was a separate Freddy Fazbear's Pizza with the robotic animatronics. Obviously, the ones that are below this pizzeria were around before them, so it makes sense. But the history of this place is weird anyway, so finding the truth will be hard." Saphira herself knew only what she knew. And she knew this building was where she was brought to as a kid. So she did not know if there was another location that got shut down. "But since you brought it up, I assume you have checked all over Haunted Classroom."
Springtrap nodded. "Yeah, we did. We did not find anything. Even Fredbear checked places that he thought were concealing something. He was a bit disappointed. Maybe things were modified too much, and there is now nothing for us to find. It would be kind of nice, that way we won't unintentionally stumble across anything. But we did in the hallway to the love chapel…so we might still find something."
"I suppose it depends on how you looked." Springtrap tilts his head slightly with a smirk. Saphira chuckled a little as she could tell he was curious by what she meant. "I am not doubting your ability to find something, Springtrap. It just never hurts to keep trying to find something. Of course, if you have combed the area a hundred times, and nothing is found, I get it. But if you looked once, then there could be something that you missed."
"I guess you're right." He glanced at her elbow as he saw her grimacing for a moment and rubbing it lightly. "That elbow must be causing you a bit of pain, huh?" She nodded as it definitely was. "I wish there was something more we could do to help. We are lucky it was not broken, but it almost feels like it is to a point."
"I agree. But I'd rather this than being in a cast for a few months. That would be worse." Saphira kept her arm in a slightly raised position and kept her arm against her body. But it was hurting, so she grabbed some Advil to help with the pain. It was the only thing she could think of that would help to manage the pain. "At least this is helping. I try not to have this too much, so my body doesn't get addicted to it. But it helps ease the pain enough to be comfortable. Especially when I try to sleep."
He was glad to hear she could manage the pain, but he hated seeing her in pain. "What did your parents say?"
She shook her head and shrugged. "To be honest, Springtrap, we hardly see each other anymore. But…" Saphira paused as she pondered for a moment before she responded. "This is not going to be good to say, but…when I arrived home last night, I overheard my parents talking in the kitchen. I didn't mean to, I just happened to pass by the kitchen. I was going to get something to eat, but…" She looked down at the ground with a sad expression. "I overheard my parents talking about making me leave the house. They apparently think that they don't want me around. That by coming here, I am…somehow tainting the memory of my brother."
Springtrap frowned deeply as he thought that was unfair. "Wait, they're kicking you out?" She nodded. "But…you aren't even graduated yet. You are almost graduated, but you're not yet." She shrugged as she knew her degree wouldn't matter at the moment. "Now that's a coincidence…and…" Springtrap himself realized that Saphira might have to sleep in the pizzeria, or on the street if she was forced to leave. And while the building was set to be closed for renovations in the coming months, Saphira has already been asked about staying here for the duration of it. "Hmm…I can't believe that is happening to you." He shook his head and softened his expression. "And it is all because you decided to stay…but…you were already trapped so long ago…that is what it is starting to seem."
"This isn't something you should feel guilty about, Springtrap. Personally…it isn't going to change much for me. My parents and I don't have a relationship. That was pretty much gone when my brother died, and I am starting to think he was the favorite. Roxy clearly is, so I know they will be glad that they lost two other children." She was upset that her parents might kick her out soon, but with the non-existent relationship they have, it wouldn't be a huge deal. "And…I guess I have no choice in the matter…this is the only job I have now, Springtrap. I might be able to get a second job, but…I don't see that happening."
"I don't see that either, you'll probably end up losing the second job because Afton might think you would leave here." That was definitely a motive if she were to do that. Springtrap felt terrible for Saphira as she was being put in this situation. "I guess…if you have to stay here…we might be able to figure out where you can hide during the day."
Saphira doubted hiding would be necessary, but it was a night thought. She herself was not sure how she felt about living in the same building all day with the animatronics. She used to dream that it would be great as a little girl. But now, staying with the animatronics all day would be like staying in a boxed room, with the walls slowly closing in around her. Saphira still loved the animatronics as close friends and family, but she was not sure how things will go if and when she was forced from her home by her parents. She had a feeling that is when things will really kick into high gear.
