Gwen pov

I was sitting at the RV table looking over my birthday plans. "One good thing about this situation is I don't have to share a birthday this year," I said and turned the page to see how many inventions I needed to give out. "Gwen, we are getting Jen back, you still have to share a birthday," Grandpa said from the driver's seat. I pouted and looked out the window, "I know, but still." I never enjoyed sharing a birthday with Jen.

I kept watching out the window then the RV swirled throwing me from my seat. "AHH!! Help me!" "Oh no!" I ran out of the RV and into the rain. I looked over the side of the cliff and saw a boy hanging from a branch and he was slipping. "Help me!" I extended my hand and put a mana platform under him as he fell. "Are you okay?" the boy looked at me, then to my mana platform, he screamed and fainted. "OK then." I brought him up and carried him into the RV.

"Lay him down." I nodded and set the boy down on the couch and Grandpa came over with a first aid kit. "Grandpa, I can use a healing spell." I said but Grandpa shook his head, "Keep your power usage to a minimum, we don't want him to have a heart attack." I nodded and sat down. Grandpa examined him and rolled up his sleeve to reveal a large mark on his bicep. "That looks like some kind of fungus," I said and moved closer to examine it. "We better get Gilbert here back to the camp he came from, the nurse can help him," Grandpa said and I nodded.

We made it to the camp and saw light on in the mess hall. I followed Grandpa into the mess hall, but it was empty, tables were knocked over, "What happened?" I asked looking around. Grandpa hummed and hovered his hand over a plate of food, "Food is still hot, they must have left in a hurry." Grandpa said.

There was a sudden crack of thunder and the lights went out. "Uh, Gwen, could you?" "Illuminatis" a pink light floated up from my hand and we could see again. "C'mon, let's look around some more, if we can't find anyone we'll head to town," Grandpa said, I nodded and we began looking around the camp.

"Oh shut up!" "No, you shut up!" "Can you two please stop!? Please!" and Grandpa shared a look. "Those voices sound familiar," I said and headed for the cabin where the yelling was coming from. I walked up to the door and kicked up open, "AHH!!?" "Whoa!" I put up a shield and reflected a blast.

I waved away the smoke in front of my face, "What the he-...Jen?!" I started at Jen in shock. Jen had her hand held out, charging up another blast, with Bleep, Megawatt, Albedo, KEVIN, and a set of twins standing behind her. "Hi, Gwen." Jen quickly his her arm behind her back and they all put on nervous amiles. "Gwen, what- oh my!" Grandpa came up behind me and saw what I was looking at.

Jen cleared her throat, "What brings you two here." she asked. "A counselor named Gilbert nearly got hit by the RV, we were bringing him back to get help," Grandpa said and Jen nodded. "What happened here, where is everyone?" I asked. "Your guess is as good as ours, we got here and the place was abandoned, save Andy and Mandy," Kevin said and gestured to the twins with his thumb. "ok, everyone in the RV, we'll get help in town," Grandpa said Jen and Albedo didn't seem to budge, and neither did Andy or Mandy, Kevin was all for it though. "C'mon!" I ordered Jen frowned "I can't trust you." she said and stepped back. "If Omni can't trust you," Andy started "Neither can we." Mandy finished and they both hid behind Jen.

"Ugh, we won't try anything, I swear," I said but Jen didn't look convinced. "Jen, if I may," Bleep hovered by Jen's head, "We need to get out of here, and your tech has been glitching a rather excessive amount since the event with Slix. This might be our best chance of getting everyone out of here together." Bleep explained. Jen let out a heavy sigh, "You try anything, and we bail." Jen glared and headed for the RV with Albedo, Andy, and Mandy in tow. I sighed and followed them.

I got on the RV and sat down, "Ok, let's get outta here." Grandpa said and tried to start the RV. The RV refused to start, "That can't be good." Grandpa got out and went to check the engine.

Jen pov

Max laid Gilbert on one of the bunks and I sat with Andy and Mandy on another. "I can't believe We are stuck here," Kevin muttered while scratching his feet. "Athletes foot?" Mandy asked, "Everyone gets it here." Andy said. "Okay, you kids stay put, I'll go rustle us up some grub," Max said and left us all alone in the cabin.

"Okay, that's a scary thought." Gwen said and began looking around, "There has to be a care package around here." she said. We all watched Gwen search for a moment before Gilbert scared us all with a scream. "Whoa, what is your deal?!" Kevin asked still scratching at his foot. There was a sudden scream "Max/Grandpa" me and Gwen said in unison. "You all stay put, Albedo, you're in charge, Bleep lets go." I ran out of the cabin with Gwen and Bleep.

"Bleep, thermal scan, can you find anything?" I asked as we ran. "Please, can you find anything?" Gwen asked. Bleep made a beep, "Follow me." Bleep flew ahead of me and Gwen and we followed him.

Bleep led us to a pit in the ground, it looked like something you might see in a fairy tale. "I don't see my Grandpa," Gwen said looking around, I didn't see him either. "He is down there," Bleep said while hovering over a deep pit in the ground. Me and Gwen peered down into the pit, the a bunch of purple tentacle vine things shot up toward us.

"whoa!" I jumped back narrowly dodging getting grabbed. "Stay back!" I looked over and saw Gwen attacking the things with mana. I shifted into Heat Blast and shot fireballs at the tentacle vines making them retreat into into the pit. "AHH!!" I looked over and saw the vines wrapping around Gwen and dragging her into the pit. "Gw-AH!!" vines began wrapping around me as well and started dragging me down.

"Jen!" I dug my hands into the ground and lit my body ablaze, but the vines didn't let go this time. "Bleep! Go warn the others!" I ordered before I was drug into the pit.

Bleep pov

"Jen!" I flew down to go help Jen but my processor recognized she gave me a direct order. "Oh...please be okay, Jen." I flew away from the pit and headed back to the camp. As I flew the ground began to shake and giant puffballs began printing from the ground. "Not good!" I began working to dodge the puff balls as they sprouted.

I began to double-time it and move faster. I reached the camp and saw the others outside. "No, this is worse, these things could release spores onto the entire state or worse, the country." Albedo snapped at Kevin. "Will you lighten up a little, I never went to school I lived on the streets." Kevin shot back. "Hold still and I'll hit you so hard with a textbook book that the knowledge will fly directly out of the book, into your pea-sized brain." Albedo and Kevin growled getting nose-to-nose with each other.

"You two need to calm down," I said flying down to them. "Where's Jen/Gwen?" Albedo and Kevin asked in unison. "Well I'm gonna assume you already know about the killer mushrooms," they nodded. "They were taken by them," I said and their eyes widened in shock. "We need to help them!" Kevin said, "For once I agree with you." Albedo said and they rushed past me. "Wait!" I flew back in front of them making them stop. "Jen and Gwen are more capable of handling this, we need to protect the three people who aren't." Kevin and Albedo looked over their shoulders at Gilbert, Andy, and Mandy they looked scared and Megawatt was trying to comfort them.

I looked at the two as they thought the situation over. "Fine," Albedo said I looked at Kevin he rolled his eyes "Whatever," he said and crossed his arms. "I'm glad you two understand, and just in time, my thermal scanners direct we are currently being surrounded." "You could have said something sooner!!" they both snapped at me and I let out a nervous chuckle.

Jen pov

"Keep your roots to yourself." I snapped and sliced the extending vines with XLR8's claws and speed. "This way, I can sense my grandpa's mana," Gwen said pointing down a tunnel. "You couldn't do that earlier?" I raised a brow "I was panicking, I've never done something like this without him." Gwen said and started flying down the tunnel. "Ok, fair," I said and followed Gwen.

We moved down the tunnel and eventually came to a block. "I got this one," Gwen said and began throwing a sharpened mana disc, slicing through the block. "Grandpa!" Gwen sliced the last vine and ran through. I followed behind her and saw Max restrained with vines, "We'll get you outta here." I said and began pulling the vines away.

"Girls, behind you!" I was suddenly thrown to the side by vines, as was Gwen. I shifted back to my human firm as I hit the ground. "AH!!?" Vines began wrapping around my body, squeezing me right, pushing all the air from my lungs. "Ah, let g-mph!" Gwen was being put in the same position as me. 'Oh man, this is gonna hurt.' I thought and used what little room I had to pull up my screen. That alone was enough to make the tech inside my body glitch and shock me and the vines.

The vines released me and retreated and I quickly got up to assist Gwen. I stumbled and my vision was blurry but I didn't let that stop me and began ripping vines off of Gwen. I almost had Gwen free when more vines wrapped around my leg and pulled me to the ground. "AH!!" I was pulled down into another underground tunnel where I saw what I can only assume is the Mycelium, the brain of the mushroom creatures. The vines wrapped around me tighter and I felt a buzzing in my head.

I ground and before I could understand anything I transformed into another alien, but it was forced. I transformed into a Florauna, a plant alien. I hung my head, feeling drained and weak, "Wh-What just-" "Silence" I looked at the Mycelium. "Ugh!" I began struggling, but I felt so weak. "Struggle as you may, you won't stop me." the Mycelium said and brought me closer, opening its giant mouth. "Let me go!" I ordered and thorns emerged from my body, cutting the vines holding me. I extended my arm and latched onto the ceiling, swinging to safety. I landed on one of the Mycelium's vesals and shifted back falling to my knees. "What...What's happening?" I began to cough into my hand and when I pulled away I saw mold and green dust in my hand. I began breathing heavily, thinking back to when we first arrived at the camp.

I went looking around the mess hall to make something for everyone to eat. I lifted my shirt exposing the giant bite mark from one of the mushrooms, a giant mark had spread and mushrooms were sprouting. My vision began to blur again, and I could hear more vines reaching for me. I quickly pulled up my screen, everything began glitching and I was shocked. "AGH!!" I began forcing myself through the pain and sent a message to Bleep. I then blacked out, unable to do anything else.

I groaned and opened my eyes, 'The RV?' I thought and looked around. "Hi," I looked to my side and saw Albedo smiling at me. I weakly smiled back, "You guys did it." "Did you have any doubts?" I smiled and shook my head.

Albedo pov

I moved and sat beside Jen, gently brushing her bangs out of her face. "I was really scared when we found you," I said and Jen frowned. "You okay, but the next time you hurt, I want you to tell me." Jen nodded and I leaned down, kissing her forehead. "Get some more rest," I said and sat back, Jen nodded and was almost instantly asleep again.
