The three girls were all sat around Kaorin's TV, watching a movie they had picked out from Kaorin's small collection. Just after the movie ended, they heard a knock on the door. "Can I come in?" Kaorin's mother asked. "Sure, Mommy." Kaorin answered. The woman opened the door partially and peeked her head in. "It's getting late, we have to be up and ready to go by about 10 tomorrow." She told everyone. Kagura looked up at a clock that hung on Kaorin's wall. "You're right, it got late pretty fast." She commented. The mother said goodnight to the girls and closed the door behind her. "We should probably get ready for bed." Chihiro said as she put the DVD back in it's case. The girls took turns with one another going into the bathroom, brushing their teeth, changing into their pajamas, and coming back out into Kaorin's room. Once Kaorin was done brushing her teeth, she turned the bathroom light off and came back into her room. Chihiro was dressed in a set of button up pajamas, whereas Kagura was in a T-shirt and a pair of sweatpants. "Hey Kaorin, am I sleeping next to Chihiro?" Kagura asked as Kaorin closed the door behind her. "Nope." Kaorin said with a smile. "You get my bed tonight."

"Huh?" Kagura asked, looking over to Chihiro who just nodded. "Wait, how come?"

"Chihiro and I agreed to give you the bed tonight. We know you had a rough day so we wanted to make it up to you."

"No wait, really, it's fine, I'm better now." Kagura protested. "I don't mind sharing the futon, it's fine."

"Kagura, it's ok, really." Kaorin assured her friend. The tomboy took a moment to think.

"Well...if I'm sleeping on the bed, then I want to share it with you. It's only fair."

Kaorin thought about this for a moment. She turned to Chihiro and asked "Chihiro, are you ok with this?"

Chihiro smirked. "I don't know, are you?" She said in a funny voice. Kaorin blushed at this. "Shut up!" Kaorin told her friend. Chihiro gave a small chuckle, then said "I don't mind. It just means more futon for me."

The girls all got themselves ready for bed. Kagura moved close over to the wall, leaving more than enough room for Kaorin to fit nicely on the other side. Before Chihiro tucked herself in tightly in the futon, she reached over her head into her overnight bag and pulled out a small stuffed fox. "What's that?" Kagura asked. Chihiro lifted it up and showed it to her. "You still sleep with a stuffed animal?" She asked the girl. Chihiro went a little bit red. "Well, um...not-not all the time." She was clearly embarrassed. "Besides, Kaorin sleeps with one too."

"Really?" Kagura asked her friend. Kaorin went very red very fast. "Goodnight!" She said and turned off the lights. She made her way back over to the bed and got in besides Kagura. There was enough space between them that they were comfortable and had enough room to wiggle around. After a couple of minutes, Kaorin reached beneath her bed and fished out Penguin. She held him close and tried to sleep.

Chihiro was the first to fall asleep that night, holding her beloved plushie tightly in her hand. Kagura laid up on the bed with her eyes stuck on the ceiling. Kaorin had her back to the wall and cuddled her plush. For whatever reason it was, she was simply unable to sleep. "Psst." Kagura whispered. "Hmm?" Kaorin quietly let out.

"Are you still up?"

"Yeah."

"Do you sleep with a stuffed animal?"

Kaorin didn't blush this time.

"I do." She firmly said.

"Can I see it?"

There was a moment of silence.

"Promise not to make fun of me?"

Kagura was surprised by her reply.

"Of course I won't. Did I make fun of you earlier or something?" She asked worriedly. Kaorin sighed. "No, you didn't."

She rolled into her back and unveiled the plush from beneath the covers.

"He's called Penguin." She explained. Kagura looked over at him for a moment.

"He looks nice." She said. Kaorin lowered the plush back down and put it on top of her chest. "Thank you." She replied. Neither of them really knew what to say next. "Sorry if I was rude." Kaorin whispered over. "Oh, it's fine." Kagura answered quietly. "Is everything ok with you?" She asked.

"Yes, I'm fine. It's just..." Kaorin began. She rolled onto her side to face Kagura, returning her penguin plush to his former position beneath the covers. "I just don't like being made fun of. I know Chihiro is just playing, but sometimes Tomo makes fun of me too and I don't like it." She explained to her friend. "I know I'm not fully done growing yet. I just don't want to be made fun of by any more of my friends." Her eyes were watering a little as she said this.

"Hey, it's ok." Kagura assured her, turning on her side to speak to her. "I won't make fun of you. I was just curious." She rolled back into her back before speaking again. "I used to have a stuffed animal I slept with once. When I left grade school, my dad told me I had to stop sleeping with it."

"Really?" Kaorin asked. "How come?"

"I don't know. Something about growing up, I guess." There was a hint of melancholy in her voice. Kaorin though for a moment about what to do next. She extended her arm towards Kagura and offered her the penguin. "Would you like to sleep with him tonight?"

Kagura was taken aback by this. "I-uh...no thank you. It's very sweet of you, but you probably need him more than me." Kagura softly told her friend. Kaorin nodded. "Well, if you change your mind, let me know."

Kagura smiled. "Thank you, Kaorin."

Kaorin smiled back. "You're welcome, Kagura. I'm gonna try sleeping now. Goodnight."

She closed her eyes again and held onto her plush tightly, drifting away into the night.
