A Stolen Moment

A/N: A little one shot from a stolen moment during ME3 when they are close to the end of the war. I've had this in my head and written down for a little while, and finally decided to edit and share it! Ha.

Commander Shepard looks out from the Starboard Observation of the Normandy SR2, her gaze fixed on the swirling nebula ahead. The weight of the galaxy's fate rested heavily upon her shoulders, but amidst the turbulence of her mission, a beacon of quiet affection shone through.

Kaidan Alenko, her trusted companion and confidante, stood by her side. His calm demeanour and unwavering support were a balm to her battle-weary soul. He saw beyond the formidable soldier, recognizing the vulnerable woman beneath the armour.

"Shepard," Kaidan said softly. "You look troubled."

Shepard turns to him, a hint of weariness in her eyes. "It's a lot to bear," she admits. "The fate of the galaxy hangs in the balance and I don't know If I can do it on my own."

Kaidan reaches out and takes her hand in his. "You're not alone, Shepard," he reminds her. "We're in this together."

Shepard smiles gratefully at him and squeezes his hand. "Thank you."

They stood in silence for a moment, their hands intertwined. The view from the Starboard was breathtaking, but their focus was on each other.

"I Love you, Kaidan," Shepard confesses softly, her voice full of emotion.

Kaidan leaned in and kissed her forehead. "I Love you too, Shepard."

Their lips then meet in a tender kiss, a stolen moment amidst the chaos of their mission. It was a kiss filled with love, longing, and the promise of something more.

They pull apart, their breaths mingling in the air.

"I can't believe we're still here, Kaidan," Shepard says. "After everything we've been through." She sighs softly against him. The warmth of his body, already bringing her comfort.

Kaidan chuckles. "I'm not sure I can either. But I'm glad we are."

"Me too" She smiles looking up at him.

They stand in silence for a moment, savouring the warmth of their connection.

"What do you think the future holds?" Shepard asks, looking into his soft brown eyes.

Kaidan shrugs. "I don't know. But I know I want to be with you, Shepard. No matter what."

Shepard smiles "I want that too. I want a future with you. Just us."

They kiss again, this time with more passion. It was a kiss that spoke of love, trust, and the promise of a future together.

As they pulled apart, a sense of peace settled over them. In the vast expanse of the galaxy, amidst the chaos and uncertainty of interstellar conflicts, they had found solace in each other's arms.

They knew that the road ahead would be difficult, but they also knew that they would face it together. With each other by their side, they were ready for whatever the future holds.
