Lars chapter 3

What were they thinking?

Dave is pretty sure that Jeanette and Simon just made the biggest mistake of their lives. Jeanette is pregnant and there's noting anyone can do to stop it.

They're only kids! How will they be able to take care of a baby? They're not even seventeen yet!

If there was a way to have prevented this then Dave would have done so. But there isn't.

"Dave?"

Ian's voice echoed from the other line of the phone.

"Yeah?" Dave asked.

"Turn the TV on. Alvin and Brittany are on the news."

Indeed, when Dave turned the TV on, his son and his girlfriend were on the news. It seems the word spread fast that Alvin Seville and Brittany Miller were missing from home. Far from home.

He sighed. The life of a Dadager sucks.

Her cries of anguish heated Alvin's ears. Hearing his girlfriend trying to bring two-three lives into the world… he finally understood why it was called labor.

She didn't want him to be there. So Alvin patiently waited outside while the screaming went on for hours and hours.

Looking back, this was very immature. Look at him! He got his girlfriend pregnant and the both of them ran away from home. He's not the one to be looking after kids. And yet he feels like the best dad in the world.

Finally, the cries die down. He looks inside the burrow that he and Brittany stole from another chipmunk and noticed that three kids covered in mucus and slept in his girlfriend's arms.

"Are they?"

"Two boys and a girl Alvin."

Woah. So this is what true happiness feels like? That feeling filled his chest and it was sweet like honey and warm as a blanket.

"What will we name them?" Brittany asked.

"How about…

..Alvin and David for the boys?"

Egotistical much? Alvin names his own son after himself.

Sweet? He named his other son after his dad.

"What about the girl? I was thinking…"

"June."

"Janet."

There was a moment of silence between them both.

"June."

"Janet."

"I say June." Alvin said, and put his hands in his pocket.

"June?" Brittany scoffed.

"It's not even June yet you call her June?"

"Janet is a prettier name."

Alvin shrugged.

"It's the first thing that came in my mind."

"How about?"

"Junet?"

Junet? That was a foreign name. It probably wasn't even rare just something that Alvin came up to settle the small dispute between them both.

"Junet?"

"Junet it is."
