Back in middle school, I really hadn't amounted to any success with my volleyball team. We most of the time get knocked out in the first round but in my final year of middle school, things changed.

"Here, pass it to me!" I starting running towards the net with nothing but smashing the ball down on my mind. Dan setted the ball perfectly as he always did. It was now up to me. I bring my arms back and lower my body, readying myself for the jump. The ball had nearly reached it summit so I leaped into the air with all the power I had. I am not going to make myself look like a fool. As I reach the ball, I am faced with a wall. There is no way around it. I bring my hand back. This means I'll have to go through! I slam my hand down. My hand smashes against the ball as it is sent towards the blockers. The wall crumbles as the ball goes through and lands on the court. I did it.

"Well done on training today everyone! I know since I'm a new coach you all still aren't used to me yet but I'm going to be honest here." He sighs and takes a sip of water. "You don't stand a chance in any competition." We are all left slient as he continues to go on and on about how bang average we all are. He slightly chuckles to himself. "The fact that any of you thought you would win!"

I clench my fist as I watch my volleyball dreams get thrown away. Is this really it, was I destined for nothing. Just a career of losses and bench warming. I handed my training bib in as the team begun moving everything to the storage room. Their faces were still, just like mine. Our whole world had just been shattered infront of us.

"I think...I think I'm going to quit volleyball." I stuttered. "Don't you dare!" the captain, Eric shouted. "You're the best one here. Your the reason we ever stood any chance in a tournament. You go to a powerhouse school when you graduate and win nationals!"

His words sent chills down my spine. He wasn't that great of a player but it was a sure good captain. I nod as I finish putting away all the equipment. "We'll win a game..." I turn to face my teammates "Trust me!"
