The Young Jedi
Chapter I
They Meet Again
The ship flies through Coruscant atmosphere. Then it lands perfectly. The captain of the guards says, "See there was nothing to worry about R2D2." Just then the ground shook with an enormous explosion. The captain got to his feet only to shout, "No!" But before he could reach the ship he realized someone rushing faster then him. He was about to pull out his blaster and shoot when he recognized the person. It was the senator of Naboo: Padme Amidala. So she hadn't taken the ship. The one lying on the floor must have been her double. The double said, "Sorry mistress, I failed you." The mistress replied, "No, you've done your duty." Typho captain of the guard came and said, "Senator come you are in danger." She replied, "I shouldn't have come it was a mistake." The other answered, "Nonsense, now come before you put yourself in danger." Padme Amidala hesitated then said, "Your right, lead the way." The Chancellor was appalled, "An attack on a diplomatic ship? If I were the only one to have a say in this I would never have allowed such a thing. Master Yoda do you think we will have to go to war?" Master Yoda closes his eyes and when he opens them again says, "The dark side clouds everything." The Chancellor said, "Well what about the Senator Amidala? She needs to be protected but by which Jedi? I thought of a pair that she already knows, 'Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker.'" Yoda growls. Normally the Jedi council was the ones that chose which Jedi did what. But Mace Windu said, "It is possible they just returned from a mission." The Chancellor then said, "Alright that settles it." Padmé Amidala was making a fuss again, "I don't need protection I'm perfectly alright." While she insisted on this with the messenger, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker were going up the elevator. Obi-Wan Kenobi turned to his Padawan and said, "Don't be so nervous. She isn't going to bite." After a short laugh, Anakin said, "I haven't seen her in ten years. It's normal that I'm nervous." The first person there to greet them is Jar Jar Bings. He yelled a, "Yuppie" and with his tongue hanging out on the side came and shook hands with them. Padmé Amidala came out and said, "Thank you Obi-Wan Kenobi for coming. Although I'm not sure I need you…" Turning her head slightly in order to see behind Obi-Wan she saw Anakin, "Anakin is that you? You've grown." Anakin came out to stand next to his master and said, "You've grown too. You've grown more beautiful for one." The former queen smiled and said, "Anakin to me you will always be the boy who saved the day." Anakin felt has if she had slapped him. Hadn't he grown more mature in all that time? The senator moved to the next room and said, "Thank you but I don't need your protection." Anakin said to Jar Jar, "It's amazing how easily she forgot me." Jar Jar said, "She's really happy to see you." Not convinced Anakin said, "She hardly recognized me. I thought of her everyday." Jar Jar Bings had no answer to that. She had taken a seat and Obi-Wan one in front of her. Anakin came over and sat next to his master. Obi-Wan made the explanation clear, "We are not to find out who is behind your assassination attempt only to protect you." Anakin said, "We will find who is behind this attack." Obi-Wan said, "Didn't you hear what I said?" Anakin tries to justify himself, "I was only trying to make the senator feel safer. Besides why make Jedi protect her if it is not to find the assassin? That's overkill." Obi-Wan answered, "You will do just what the council tells you to do nothing more." Padmé Amidala said, "Perhaps your mere presence here will be enough to dissuade any further attacks." This is how their first meeting in ten years went.
