HELLO! I'm still here and determined to finish this multi chapter some day :D Even when time between updates is over 1,5 year... woops.
Some nice Koukari action and of course more Taiora. It might be a bit rusty, I wrote this last summer when I was super tired and I haven't been vibing with the idea of proof reading, so expect typos and such.

Anyway, enjoy reading (:

Enjoy and dance

"He's unbelievable." Sora grumbled into the phone, knowing how annoyed she sounded. And she had all the rights to be annoyed with Taichi.

"Onii-chan is just a bit impulsive like that sometimes. Probably because he was slightly jealous."

Jealous... Sora bit an unwanted smirk away hearing those words from Hikari. She didn't dance with all those guys on purpose, they had been coming over to her, leading her all over the place without asking properly. It had been fun though and so she had let it all happen without overthinking things for once. Only at the point she had finally been successful in leaving the dance floor to join her friends, it was that she saw his face.

Sheer determination with a hint of jealousy led him into grapping her wrist and dragging her to their dance instructor of the evening and the pile of paper lying next to him. Before she could even say something, he had already spoken 'their' wish to sign up for dance classes.

Then and there, Sora had decided to go along with what Taichi wanted, nodding in affirmative towards Taichi and the instructor. A few minutes later and they had signed up for class, playing as if they had decided to do so together.

Once outside of the building, Sora had scolded him for being jealous and leading her into signing up without it being a mutual decision. If he had only asked, she would have said yes without a doubt, but the way he had done it was beyond Sora's reasons. They bickered like an old married couple and it sure wasn't the first time, she was very much aware of that, plus he deserved it. But in the end she did cave in, admitting that she liked the idea of going to dance classes together.

Those words were enough for Taichi apparently, the hint of jealousy and annoyance in his face fading into some sort of victory.

"And competitive," Sora finally added. "It's not that I don't wanna go to dance classes with him, I'm just... When I was dancing with all those other men, there was freedom and fun and all kinds of flows and vibes. What I'm afraid of is that I won't be able to experience that with Taichi, because he's just a thick-headed jealous boy who wants to show off with me and win."

"What does he want to win? You?"

"No, I don't know. Maybe pride? Showing that he's dancing and leading much better than those other guys probably?"

"And you just want to enjoy and dance."

"Exactly! And with Taichi I just know it will all be bickering and stumbling and—"

"Is that so?" Hikari interrupted. It left Sora silent. "Haven't you already experienced freedom and fun and flow and vibes with him as well? I mean, when you two danced together at that club, it looked like you two were very much flowing and vibing."

She knew Hikari was right. But just like how Taichi was never going to admit his competitiveness in dancing, Sora was too stubborn to simply admit Hikari was right.

When people had asked Koushiro about his hobbies a month ago, the answer would be simple. But with his feelings getting more complex every day, so became his hobbies. Whether it had already changed from a thing during one blue Monday into a hobby was still debatable though. He already felt like he could get used to this sport. Or art form. Another thing he wasn't certain of yet.

It made him nervous, that was what he was definitely sure about. Especially when he looked at her. She was gentle, graceful and sweet. Koushiro had always known that about Hikari, but ever since his feelings towards the Yagami girl changed, the actual meaning of those three words had changed as well. And it made him nervous.

Koushiro looked around the room, his feet nervously gripping the wooden floor beneath them. All he saw were unfamiliar faces, the safe faces of Sora and Taichi missing this time, due to Hikari signing them up for ballroom classes, and Koushiro had to swallow a bit.
Maybe dancing would be easier without them being around. No weird stares from Taichi watching his every move with Hikari. No over excited looks from Sora who was way beyond happy to see him dancing with Hikari.

Koushiro expected the steps in ballroom dancing to be less fast and complex in comparison to all the small and twirling latin steps. Ballroom seemed more like his flow and speed. The word 'quickstep', however, scared him. His body tensed up and he was unable to move. But as he figured out that the basics were nothing more than an endless repeating pattern going around the room as long as the music kept playing, tension wore off. The first fifteen minutes had even been fun, with lots of room between bodies just practicing the steps without holding hands, bodies or whatever body parts were used in this. It was more rectangular, even logical, and Koushiro loved it.

"Now find your partner."

He quickly found Hikari and with rather ease he closed the gap of air between them just enough, carefully holding her hand like a true gentleman, but still keeping a comfortable distance. He watched his teachers, a man and woman, closely.

"Before we start doing the steps together, we work on the posture and stances."

His right hand was just below her shoulder blade, carrying Hikari's left arm that was gently placed on top of his shoulder. His left hand softly held her right one, pointing in the direction the dance would go in. The teachers made their round, correcting all the couples here and there.

Koushiro looked down at their feet, checking that comfortable distance between them again. It made him sigh a sigh of relief, now being sure he wouldn't be able to step on her toes. Or be closer.

"Stances are great," was the compliment the female teacher started with. She planted her hands on his shoulder and lightly pushed him forward. "But now you've got to step between her legs."

He squeezed her left hand with his right. "P-pardon me?"

"You must hold the woman slightly on your right side, that way your toes aren't directly face to face. You see?" She pushed him a bit harder, going against the resistance Koushiro was giving. "This way her right foot is in between your feet and your right foot between hers."

He could feel his face flush a deep cherry red. With his eyes closed he finally let the woman push him forward enough to step in between Hikari's feet.

"Now your hips can make contact." The teacher happily told him. Koushiro held his breath, feeling how Hikari's inner thighs touched him. "Now loosen up that left hand, young man, both of you look to your left and you're good to go."

The entirety of Koushiro's body felt like exploding and he let go of Hikari, stepping backwards, unable to look her in the eyes. With an awkward little bow he excused himself from both Hikari and the teacher and left the room in a hurry for a breather.

Maybe ballroom was more complex than he had thought at first.

Koushiro quickly pulled his phone out of his pocket, thinking of a way to get any sort of help.

His fingers scrolled and stopped at Taichi's chat first.

Nope. He would explode.

Takeru?

Too smooth for now.

Mimi…

NO.

Miyako would be too hyper. Ken and Iori too neutral and not understanding. Jyou would panic himself. And he would in no way call his father and definitely not his mother.

He scrolled past Taichi, his eyes locking with one certain name on his screen. Without hesitation, he decided to send her a quick message.

Plz help.

He was sure it would be enough for Sora to understand and respond.

Spill!

Was the response that came. Not a very Sora-esque reply, Koushiro thought to himself. Doubting himself he looked at the screen closely and found Mimi's name instead of Sora's. His heart skipped a beat. Apparently, in his hurry and nervousness, he had opened a groupchat with Sora and Mimi.

Koushiro couldn't exactly remember why he had that groupchat with the two girls. Now was no time to think about that though. It existed and that was what mattered. He exhaled, mentally preparing himself to deal with "princess" Mimi.

Sora: Aren't you at dance class right now?

Mimi: Dance class? Our Koushiro-kun is taking dance classes now too? Kawaii!

Sora: What's going on? Cold feet?

Koushiro: Something like that? The dance teacher told us I had to step between Hikari-san's legs in order to dance...

Mimi: HIKARI-CHAN?! This is getting better and better!

Sora: Just see it as part of the dance, make it something logical, like, what's the use of being so close?

Mimi: I'm with Sora-san! She's experienced by now, she knows eeeeverything about it, am I right?

Sora: Mimi-chan, please... But yeah, Taichi, and other guys as well, can come very close in his dancing, but it's useful and effective. By being close, it's easier for me to follow the steps and easier for my partner to lead me.

Mimi: And for all I've heard, Taichi-san doesn't mind stepping between Sora-san's legs. If Hikari-chan is a real Yagami, she definitely wouldn't mind either, Kou~

Sora: Mimi-chan!

Mimi: What? It's the truth right? Come on, it's just some dancing! Don't take it too seriously, Koushiro-kun. Try to enjoy yourself and the fact that you're for once doing something physical instead of only using those big brains of yours! And that actually takes a bit more going with the flow, which means: stepping in between those feet and have that dance ;)

Koushiro nodded, surprised by the rather well-given advice Mimi was gifting him with, but believing the truth in Mimi's words. Inhaling, he collected all of his strength and confidence in switching off his brain and 'go with that flow'. Or at least try.

"Koushiro-san, are you okay?" Hikari's voice sounded, her head peeking around the corner of the door to the dance studio. "Music will play soon. You wanna dance... with me?"

Their eyes locked and for a minute Koushiro could see hesitance and nervousness in her eyes as well. It soothed him, knowing she was just as nervous as he was.

"Can you please not pull that hard?"

Taichi let his hands fall down, annoyed by the umpteenth false accusation thrown at him.

"I'm not pulling that hard, jeez Sora, what's your problem?"

"My problem?" Sora snorted. "If there's anyone who's having a problem, it's you, Taichi. I'm just here to follow, so take the lead." She said as she picked herself up by placing back his hands on her body in a rather confidence Taichi wasn't used to from her, before she placed back her own.

Stares from all the other pairs in the room –who were just dancing and didn't bicker like old married couples- were burning through his skin. At times, those dancing pairs bumped into them, making Sora turn red in the face. Taichi wasn't sure whether it was shame or annoyance. Or both. For him it was definitely both.

Shame, because they weren't doing it like they were supposed to. Annoyance, because she was constantly picking on him.

To get back at her, Taichi lightly squeezed Sora, pulling her not too hard, but at least close enough so they could continue.

"Then let me lead and don't tell me to pull that hard, because I'm not. Ow!" He quietly cried as she pinched him back. The nerve she had.

They picked up the speed and steps anyway and he could feel Sora's hand relax a bit on his shoulder. The firm hold she was giving him first slowly made place for a soft touch, but still holding him close. In his mind he smirked, feeling how he was finally finding his way with her, letting her follow his lead—

"Taichi!" Sora yelped suddenly stopping the movement, making Taichi stop as well. "You're making the steps too big, we almost hit that girl next to us." She said, trying to sound as calm as possible.

Taichi, however, didn't have it. He sighed, collecting himself.

"I'm at least not stepping on your toes like Yamato did all those years back. Then you came running to me, huh, remember? What happened with that?!"

"Where's that coming from... Taichi, I—"

But Sora couldn't finish, the instructor of the class interrupting their next discussion.

"I sense some tension between the two of you?" He said, sounding curious. Taichi watched Sora blushing and falling quiet.

"Yeah, well..." Taichi stammered., feeling a light blush creeping in too.

"You're not the first couple I see struggling with this kind of tension. Can I give you some advice?"

Both nodded, avoiding any kind of eye contact with each other while still standing in their dancing positions. Taichi could feel the awkwardness and tension in Sora's body. And he was sure she could feel his annoyance as well.

"Find a way to make that tension work for the both of you instead of letting it work against you. I'm well aware that's easier said than done, and I can't tell you guys exactly how to do it. You've got to figure it out yourselves, it's worth trying, believe me. Especially when you want to finish this course successfully or even this first class together."

Taichi glanced over at Sora who was directing her gaze to the ground. He saw her biting her lip, tension in her hands still steady and her body trapped in its spot opposite from him. He could see their closeness, sense how they were physically connected by hands holding and touching each other. Still all he truly felt was distance.

He nodded once more to the instructor's words, letting go of his firm hold on Sora to give her space, both physically and mentally.

The instructor turned his attention back to all the participants, telling everyone class would end in five minutes. "There's an hour of free practice after this class. If you'd like to stay to watch more experienced dancers dance, dance with them of practice the steps you just learned for a bit longer, you're all welcome to stay."

All around them, people started to whisper, consulting with each other what to do. Some left, others stayed. Taichi looked at Sora who was looking at all the other pairs making decisions.

"What do you want to do?" Taichi carefully asked.

"I... I don't know," she answered, hints of doubt seeping through.

"We can leave—"

"No!"

That confused Taichi. For the first time in a while, he looked her straight in the eyes again, tilting his head a bit, trying to figure out what exactly she wanted.

"But you just said you didn't know."

"I know," Sora quickly answered. Before she continued, she scanned the room. More and more pairs were leaving. "I just... I don't know, maybe we can stay? Maybe it'll help if we see these other people dance..."

And so they stayed. Though Sora wasn't sure anymore why they did. The level of these more experienced dancers making her doubt all the choices she had yet made regarding dancing, especially when it came to Taichi.

Until now, during class, dancing with that thickheaded idiot had only made her feel insecure, nervous, annoyed and incapable. She knew too well she too was stubborn, she always was at least a bit like that when with him. But dance class had only made it worse.

Sora thought back to the few times she and Taichi had danced rather freely. Those were the moments that made her decide to go to these classes together with him. But nothing had come close to that feeling. And seeing those great dancers having the time of their lives, women getting swirled around the dancefloor, men feeling this incredible freedom… She could imagine that with Taichi, the sheer idea making her blush, heat rising to her cheeks. If only he would act.

She looked over to him, arms crossed in front of his chest, his eyes following all the steps being the only movement his body was currently making. Upon that sight, Sora sighed and rolled her eyes before letting them fall down to the ground.

"You wanna dance?" Was the question that got her out of the pitiness she was starting to feel. Her gaze shot up, her eyes locking with his.

"You sure?" She asked surprised.

Taichi shrugged his shoulders and took one of her hands without waiting for her definite answer, smoothly lifting her out of her seat and onto her feet.

That was it.

Any feeling of doubt and annoyance she had felt only seconds ago were gone with that simple act. Nervousness had stayed, because taking his hand and following his hand meant nothing more than to move between the dancers she had admired in a probably very amateurish way. However, when Taichi radiated this kind of nonchalant confidence, for once more setting aside that pride of his, it didn't matter.

As if they had done this a thousand times already, his hands found their way to her body, touching and holding her so he could manipulate her body to dance with him. The heat that had arrived on her cheeks earlier intensified, her face feeling like a burning fire. And before Sora knew it, her hands were already placed on him and feet were doing all the steps they had learnt that last class and more.

Taichi had his ways with her, her mind knew. Her body hyper aware. Every step on the floor was one closer to the other. Every beat creating less and less space between their chests, hands in hands, on shoulders and hips relaxing yet feeling tensed and sweaty. It was all leading up to them swaying together, exactly knowing what to do while being as inexperienced as they were.

It was how Sora had felt those few times. It was exactly how Sora had wanted to feel again. And now she had it, dancing her feet sore and throat dry, being all close to him and that damn face of his.

Without any effort, Taichi let her spin, catching Sora in his tight grip yet with just enough looseness to end the music and dance with Sora in a deep dip, his own body lightly bending over hers and their eyes locked.

"Don't you think this is so much easier if we both stop thinking and just follow whatever we feel without someone telling us what to do?" Taichi said. His voice sounded sultry, his eyes holding her in an even tighter grip as he brought her body back up straight. Even though she was standing up straight, feet on the ground, she felt like flying, her heart racing.

Sora swallowed, nodding to his little reflection and conclusion.

"I think he's right."

Both Sora and Taichi looked to their side to find the dance teacher.

"This is how you make tension work, you two have a very interesting chemistry."

"Thank you," they said in unison. The dance teacher laughed.

"You know what, maybe this is a long shot, but I see talent in the both of you. Next week I'm starting with training some new dance pairs for small performances and demos and I think you two would be perfect. It's a lot of work, but I'm convinced you two are able to pull that off. Together."

"We're flattered," came Taichi's immediate response. Being robbed of words, Sora nodded in agreement.

"Let me know before this weekend and if it's a yes, I'll give you the schedule," he said before telling them good night.

Unsure of what to do with all this, Sora looked at Taichi. She had expected a verbal answer from him, but all she got was a shy smile her way and a… blush?

Sora bit her lip, reminiscing the feeling of tonight and the dancing moments she had shared with Taichi leading up to this.

Who knew how exactly this would turn out, eventually.
