(Let the adventure begin!)
Patrick sat on the edge of the balcony of the Palms Peak Library in Azalea Town, looking out over the beautiful forested hills. As he gazed across the trees, he saw the setting sun begin to light up the sky. "What a beautiful view," he thought to himself.
He sighed as he saw the last rays of sunlight fade away into darkness, signaling the end of another day. He knew that he would be setting out on a new journey soon, but he wanted to take one last moment to take everything in.
'I wish that everything was as peaceful as this'
He thinks to himself, his Gardevoir (Makaila) agrees with him.
'You and me both,'Makaila replied telepathically, her arms rested in her lap.
"Yeah… I know that we're going to have exciting adventures in the future, but it's hard to think about leaving all of this behind," Patrick said, gesturing to the sunset.
Suddenly, a voice called out from the library behind him.
"Patrick, come inside dear! It's getting dark and we need to get dinner ready."
That's when he saw his mother standing in the doorway of the library. She was smiling warmly at him, but she seemed concerned. Patrick couldn't blame her, he knew that she was worried about him setting out on his journey.
"Yes Mom, I'll head inside in a bit"
He says, his Mom still a bit concerned for his safety even though he has his team with him. They all grew up together, bonding and growing strong as a team
"Patrick, you better come inside soon. You need to get some rest before you set off on your journey, ok?"
"Yes, Mom, I'll be right in," Patrick replied with a smile. He had to reassure his mother, she was always worried about his safety. After all, he is still young, barely old enough to get his own Pokémon. But he knew that he could handle it, he had to prove it to himself.
'Mom raised me by herself after Dad passed away'
He thinks to himself, having vague memories of his father. Makaila places one of her hands on his shoulder in comfort, he smiles at her and she gently smiles back.
"Let's go inside, ya Makaila? Let's get some sleep before Mom takes out the frying pan"
He joked, Makaila giggles at Patrick's joke, she knew how much he loved his mother and respected her. She also knew that the fried food his mother made was something he was not so fond of. Still, he would never refuse to eat his mother's food, after everything she's done for him and his team. The two of them went inside together, Makaila following her trainer closely but not too closely as to hover over him like a mother hen. Makaila was glad that his mother raised him to be so independent.
Patrick bids his Mother a good night, Makaila bowing to her, his Mom kisses them both on the forehead.
"Good night Mother!" Patrick says affectionately to his mother. Makaila also bows her head in respect, it was something she was taught to do by Patrick himself because of his love and respect for his mother. Patrick's mother smiles at him, happy to see him in good spirits despite being nervous about him leaving.
Patrick then closes the door to his room, him and Makaila share a brief glance before they both lay down on the bed. Patrick gets comfortable in his bed, pulling the covers over himself. He looks over to see Makaila comfortably curled up in bed, her hair resting over her forehead.
Makaila starts to slightly hum, he starts to drift off to sleep, her humming making him sleepy.
Patrick is slowly drifting off, Makaila's humming helping him to relax and get some much needed sleep before he sets off on his big adventure. He starts to think about everything that Makaila has done for him, how she was part of his first team and his first catch. He had always wondered what his life would have been like without her…
Suddenly their thoughts are interrupted by a loud voice coming from downstairs. Patrick and Makaila both sit up in bed as they hear the voice. It's his mother…
They both stand up, Makaila going first with Patrick following her.
Patrick walks down the stairs behind Makaila, the pair of them both curious about what could have caused his mother to start yelling. They approach the open living room, where they see his mother yelling at the TV. She seems upset about something, he couldn't really make out what it was that she was angry at. He could tell that she was yelling at someone, but he wasn't sure who…
"Mom, what happened? Are you okay?" He asks his Mother concerned
His Mother quickly looks over to Patrick, still upset and clearly not noticing that he had come downstairs. She takes a few moments to calm herself down before responding to him.
"Oh, yeah, I'm fine Patrick, just had some bad news… " As she spoke, Patrick noticed that the Tv was playing news footage. He could tell that she was lying about her emotions, but he decided not to press any further. He knew that it would be best to leave it alone at that moment.
"Please get some rest, Mom. I'm leaving Penghancur (Rhyperior) and Beruang (Bewear) with you. Rhyperior and Bewear will protect you, Gembira (Chansey) and Lumpi (Ursaluna) will defend you to the end"
He says, walking up to his Mother and hugging her, showing all of his love and affection in the hug.
Patrick hugs his mother and tries to reassure her that everything will be okay. He hands her his Rhyperior and Bewear for protection and Gembira and Lumpi who will support his Mom in both battles and cooking. Patrick gives his mother a reassuring smile, trying to make her feel safer and better. She smiles back, hugging him tightly.
"Thank you Patrick",she says, her voice muffled by the tight hug. She seems more relaxed and at peace now, she's always been a little overprotective.
"Anything for you, Mom. I will send you money at every Pokémon center. I know you will say no but, try not to work so much ya? You're retired now, you were an amazing trainer". He tells her.
Patrick tries to convince his mother to relax and not worry as much. He knows that she's always worked very hard to support him and his ambitions and wants her to enjoy her retirement. But, he knew that she would never be happy if she had nothing to keep her busy. Patrick knew that she would end up going out and working no matter how much he begged her to stay. He was right, his Mother gave him a loving smile but rejected the money he tried to give her, telling him that she'll keep working anyway.
"So stubborn" he laughs, his Mother lightly smacks his shoulder as Makaila giggles.
"I'm still going to send you money I earn, no matter if you reject it" he told her, his Mother finally agreed with his choice.
Patrick's Mother finally agreed to his wishes, she knew that there was no way that he wouldn't send her money no matter what. So she decided to accept it, it was his choice anyways. And, it would be good to have extra money in case anything big happened. His Mother smiled, happy that her son was taking such a big step into his adventure. She knew that she had done a great job raising him, and that he would succeed in whatever he does.
"I'm gonna sleep, Makaila can you please create a small barrier around the house? I don't want anyone or anything interrupting us"
He asks his Gardevoir, Makaila agrees. She closes her eyes as a faint blue energy surrounds her which then extends all over the modest home. Makaila opens her eyes and nods, Patrick smiles at her in thanks.
Patrick and Makaila are getting ready for bed, he asked Makaila to create a barrier around the house using her energy. She agreed and closed her eyes and a faint blue energy surrounded her. Then she extended it to cover the entire house, keeping everyone and anything away. Makaila opens her eyes, smiling at Patrick. He smiles back, thanking her for protecting them.
They both get into the bed quickly afterwards, Makaila still humming gently as it soothes them both to sleep. Patrick falls asleep quickly, he needs to get all the rest he can before leaving home.
