Summary:AAML- AshXMisty Animeverse oneshot. This is is my take on how Ash proposed to Misty seen through his eyes. AshXMisty oviously. I only own my OCs- Kris, Ash's dad, Sunset and Storm and the part about Charizards courtship dance. There are some parts i modified/ borrowed from my Somewhere Out There fanfic. Warning - there are a few swears- which is why this is rated K+. . " " Is humans talking , ( ) means translated Pokémon speech and italics are thoughts. Sunset's appearance is the generation II shiny form for Charizard. Enjoy! Happy belated Thanksgiving to all.

It was a crisp November day in Pallet City and twenty three year old Ash Ketchum was nervous as anything He wasn't nervous about going into a tournament or fighting a powerful opponent. He was about to to undertake an enormous step in his life-proposing to his longtime girlfriend. The problem was .. he didn't know how to go about doing it .
Wearing a red checked plaid long-sleeved shirt under ablack vest and blue jeans. He was currently sitting on an old tree-stump. His shiny Charizard Sunset and his first Pokémon Pikachu stared at him as he fingered a small blue velvet ring box in his righthand .A small cinch-sack like backpack lay at his feet by his sneakers. He sighed. "I'm so nervous about this. How am I gonna do i?"
The two Pokemon looked up at their trainer. (You'll come up with something . ) Pikachu reassured him. ( remember what Delia told you?)
The young man nodded. He'd gone to his mother's house with Pikachu privately one day about six-seven months ago. He told her he wanted to propose to Misty .. only he didn't have a ring and he had to ask her parents-who lived far far away - for permission. She'd screamed with delight and told him to wait there .
She came back about fifteen minutes later with her eyes a bit wet and her typical light pink shirt sleeve dotted with -like she'd shed a few tears. She was carrying something in a carefully wrapped cloth in a small ziplock bag with the words 'Satoshi's ring' written on it in permanent black marker. She shakily got the cloth out of the bag and put it in his outstretched hand.

He unwrapped the cloth and could only stare at the ring in amazement . It was very simple yet elegant. The ring had a small aquamarine stone cut in the shape of a heart and a sterling band in the center. He knew it at once to be an engagement ring. Holy Arceus
" I thought you could use this for your engagement ring for Misty ." She told him .
"M-Mom.. W-where did you you get this ?" He asked.
(It's stunning) Pikachu added.
"Thanks." She smiled sadly then paused as if trying to figure out the next sentence. "This ..is the r-ring your f-father gave me.. wh-when he p-proposed to me." She replied , tripping over her words. "I .. want you to h-have it."
His eyes went wide - she never talked about his father - who had never been present in his life. The young man just assumed he didn't want to be a father or ran off. He looked into her brown eyes. "Wh-Wh-What? Are you certain Mom? "
( holy Zapdos Delia!) he and Pikachu said simultaneously.
She nodded. "I'm one hundred percent positive Ash. It's not doing any good just lying around collecting dust. It w-was one of the few things of his I kept. When you were a baby he said.. he wanted to pass it on to you wh-when the time came. H-h-he-." Tears were running down her face and she wiped them away with her hands . "Would have l-loved Misty."
There was a few minutes of silence as she dried her face. Trainer and Pokémon looked at each other knowing what the other was thinking They knew T\the way she said the last two sentences filled them with dread . I think something bad happened to my father ages ago .
Pikachu gave his trainer a light nod as if he sensed what he was thinking . The black haired young man broke the silence. "Do you think D-D-D-Dad-" he stumbled over the word which felt almost alien on his tongue-" would liked me?"
His mother blinked and nodded ."Of course he would , Ashy. He met you when you were born and he loved you. What's not to like about you? You're brave , compassionate, dedicated, strong, kindhearted. I just wish he'd gotten a chance to watch you grow up but..." She looked toward the the window for a few seconds.
He gulped. "The way y-y-you're talking makes me think h-he's not around anymore."
She sighed . "H-H-He's not. " She replied quietly.
(Oh Delia.. I'm sorry.)
Ash had a sudden feeling of dread. I knew it! Something did happen to my father I think he's .. dead . She's pretty upset-I don't want to make her even sadder by asking what . I'll ask another time.
He went over and hugged his mother for a few minutes, feeling her sadness through Aura . "I'm so so sorry Mom. I didn't know.. I didn't mean to make you sad . I don't have to use the ring if it's hurting you. I can always use some of the money I've set aside aside for a house for one instead."
She shook her her head. "No honey. I totally insist . You can't live in that tiny house forever .. it won't be good when you want to start a family. "
He felt his cheeks burn . "Mom! We're not gonna start a family that fast .. We .. haven't even talked much about it "
Pikachu smiled. (I saw that wistful look in your and Misty's eyes when you first saw my kids and your niece Dani when she was born. Trust me Ash, you'll want to start a family soon.)
" Too true." his mother added.
" H ow did he do it? Pr-propose to you I mean?" He asked.
Her face brightened up. "Well ..He brought me to this beautiful flower filled meadow for a picnic. afterwards he read this beautiful poem and brought out the ring with desert ." she sighed at the memory.
"I just dunno how I'm gonna do it. " he admitted." I mean I haven't even asked her parents or her sisters . What if they say no? What I mess up ? What if I-"
he felt a small lick on his free hand- the one not holding his father's ring.(you can do this.) Pikachu looked up and told him confidently.
"I can?"
The yellow mouse Pokémon nodded . (Yes you can.. I have total faith in you .)
She looked at them and smiled. "Same here Pikachu . I'm sure they'll give you their approval. After all you sort of were the one who brought Daisy and Tracey together. However you do it honey , I'm sure she'll love it. Trust your heart and you'll know."

He nodded as the memory ended.
"Yeah.. I'm trying to plan how to lead into it. I was thinking about doing it tonight after dinner.. ".
( violet and David are gonna flip) Pikachu put in .
( definitely) Sunset agreed.
He grinned . "They sure will. it's just coming up with the conversation that ends with the engagement. " He looked at the two Pokemon. "Your species have it easier trying to find mates. "
Pikachu shrugged his shoulders. (I guess . all I did was ask Storm . I didn't have to fight any other 'Chus. .)
Sunset scratched her chin with a dark grey claw . ( I don't know about that easier . I've heard wild charizards do special courtship dances both on the ground and in the sky .. but I was born in captivity. )
Pikachu nudged his trainer's right hand . (I'm sure whatever you come up with will be incredible. Just speak from the heart.)
The wind shifted direction and he felt a crisp breeze blow at him. Sunset sniffed the air and let out a low growl and her tail flame started to blaze brighter . Her small claws clenched into fists.
" What's up girl?" Ash asked the dark gray-near black- skinned Shiny Charizard . She was typically a sweet non-aggressive Pokémon outside battle -unless she got a scent of some untrustworthy human/Pokémon or her old abusive trainer.
(Kris .) she replied darkly. Kris was her old trainer who starved and beaten her to near death. A few years ago, she flopped onto the front yard of Ash and Misty's small rental house looking super abused and half dead. They'd immediately taken her in and brought her to Gary Oak's laboratory. Due to her condition they hadn't been sure she'd pull through but she did . Since they saved her and stayed by her side , she trusted them. After she recovered she told them how severely Kris abused and beat her. Kris came around looking for her - he lied on how she got hurt. Pokemon abuse was a beyond serious offense so there was a huge court case . They won and Sunset decided to go with them but Kris vowed revenge .
Ash's dark brown eyes went wide and Pikachu's fur started "What? I thought he was under house arrest and a restraining ordering."
(Don't know. ) she sniffed the air again and her eyes went wide. (You smell that , Pikachu?)
Pikachu sniffed the air a few times. As he did, his fur started bristling He looked up at his best human friend/ trainer and simply said (I can faintly smell fear on Misty and Storm .)
Those words got his blood raging- He knew that psycho would do anything for revenge . "That bastard.. " He swore under his breath as he shoved the box into his cinch-sack zipped it up , grabbed the cinch-sack and slung it around his shoulder and stood up.
Sunset crouched down and he jumped on her back Pikachu following him. He planted his feet firmly between her shoulder blades and secured his arms around her neck while his partner gripped the front of his shirt with his paws . They had gotten to be pros at it when they and Misty had gone through the Kanto Gym challenge again recently and used Sunset for transportation. "Let's go. There isn't a moment to lose."
Sunset flapped her great dark wings and rushed into the open air. The wind whipped through his long sleeved shirt and vest but he didn't care. His heart raced fast . Please let Mist be okay. Arceus please oh please don't let that son of a bitch hurt her too much . He thought as he bit his lip / The dark grey skinned Shiny Charizard flew through the air as fast as she could. . (I smell Stun Spore, Storm blood, him and his pesky Oddish. ) Pikachu';s fur started bristling and sparking. ( Whoa.. easy on the sparks near my wings pal ,.. I may be a draconic Fire Type Pokemon but.. I'm also part Flying Type . Flyers and Electric moves don't mix well. )
He stopped sparking. ( Sorry Sunset. I'll fry that jerk instead .)
As they got close enough to the rental house Sunset pointed with a dark claw and Ash felt her body heat rise while her tail flame became really hot. She loathed Kris. ( Look!)
He could see Storm twithching on the ground and Kris in a camouflage jacket and pants a few feet away on his terrified girlriend , who was back up againts a small tree trunk in the tiny back yard. He saw she had a slap mark on her face and Kris' Oddish was advancing on her.. " First stop that Oddish in your tracks with a load roar then Ember shot that plant when we touch the ground girl. " He told her.

The dark haired young man then looked down at the yellow mouse Pokemon. "Pikachu-"
Pikachu grinned. ( I'm gonna make him eat my Thunderbolt and Thunder Wave. )
( and then I'll Iron Tail that turd away.) She added.
Right as they were forty feet from the ground and against the week sun and clouds Sunset roared (Get away from her you beast!) as loudly as she could. The roar shook the treetops and its froze Krios and the Oddish in place. She quickly descended and right after landing blasted the Grass type with a single powrful Ember shot, fainting it before it had a chance to react. He and Pikachu jumped off her back onto the ground- the mouse's fur bristling.
" Oh course YOU show up right now. " Kris snarled at the black haired young man as he recalled the Oddish to it's Pokeball as Sunset gave him an intense look that seemed to burn. He turened to the two humans in turn . " I swear to bloody Arceus, I'll have my revenge on you two one day. That- "
Kris got no further than that as , charged up his fur and used a huge Thunder Wave and Thunderbolt on Kris who screamed in pain. . Then Sunset sent her former tormentor off into the horizon with an Iron Tail.
Ash and the two Pokémon ran over to her " Are you okay? What in the Legendaries' name happened Mist?"
She told him-tripping over her words- what had occurred and he felt his eyes widened during her story. She and Storm had gone outside to think when Kris had shown up with his Marrowak and Oddish and had it smash the house arrest bracelet. He mistook Storm for Pikachu and had the Marrowak knock her out with a volley of Bone Clubs and the Oddish Stun Store her. He' d been about to get out protective gloves after he recalled Marrowak- he had a rubber sack out-when a furious Misty rammed into him knocking the sack out of his hands. In retaliation, Kris had slugged her onto her side. She tried to get away from him but ended up cornered against the tree trunk. He'd told the Oddish to Stun Spore her legs together. while he looked for rope anda gag to take her away ".. A-And th-th-that's when you showed up. " she ended.
He felt like something was missing in her story. There was no way in the world Kris would make Oddish Stun her and then try to take her just for ramming into her. She' s keeping something from me.. but so am I . . He thought .. feeling the ring burn a hole figuratively in his pocket.
Sunset's eyes -and her tail flame blazed with fury for a few seconds before returning to their normal colors.. (That utter beast . how dare he attack you with two Pokémon unprovoked .)
Ash nodded as he got his cinch sack off of his shoulder got a spray bottle of Full Heal and a tube of healing cream out of the bag " Here you go pal. Use this to heal Storm. ." He said as he handed the bottle to Pikachu The mouse went over to his mate and started spraying the Full Heal on her.
He unscrewed the healing cream tube and got a fair amount on his right hand before re-screwing the cap back on and putting it in the cinch-sack. He sat down next to Misty started applying the cream to her nasty injury on her face. . His hands were gentle as he applied the soothing cream to the bruise. She flinched at the cool touch as the cream made contact to the swollen injury. " Easy Mist.. it's just the healing cream. .."
"S-Sorry Ashy..It's just Kris struck me really really hard." she admitted.
"It's okay water blossom, everything's going to be be okay. i'm glad you're safe. There is no way in hell i would ever let him hurt you " he reassured her as he put the cap back on the tube and they waited for the cream to work.
"Good thing y-you came when you did." she said as he laid her head against his tan shirt .
"How d-did he manage to get the house arrest bracelet off?" He pointed to the shattered pieces of the house arrest bracelet .
She shrugged her shoulders. "I-I don't know.. n-nor do I want to know.."
He frowned at the smashed pieces of the house arrest bracelet on the ground. " I'll call the police after dinner and tell them what happened."
(He should be locked up in jail ) Sunset commented .( a monstrous brute like that shouldn't be allowed to be free.)
He looked at the broken pieces of the house arrest bracelet and then over at Storm - back to normal and now being comforted by her mate before gazing down at his girlfriend. He sighed and became lost in his thoughts. I can't believe i came this close to losing her and Storm to that horrible son of a she-Houndoom. That low down scumbag! I won't let him hurt her again in any way. I know what i have to do-It can't wait until you got this. You've got this . think Ash think…
He thought of how long she'd been by his side, what they'd gone through together. He thought about the first few times he started to see her differently. How much she'd help him grow and how they'd still kept in contact. How seeing her in the Wallace Cup and with the Mirage Kingdom incident brought back his old growing feelings. How they'd saved Sunset and traveled together in Kanto again-just the two of them .
Suddenly a lightbulb went off in his head. He knew what to say. "Ashy.. Is there something on your mind? You're quiet and you're never this quiet ." she commented, bringing him back to reality after after a while.
"Huh? Oh Just.. Thinking .. " He replied.
Once she and Storm were healed. Pikachu brought the spray bottle back to his trainer and he put the spray bottle back onto his cinch-sat . Ash and his first Pokémon looked at each other. They had been together so long they could tell what the other was thinking. The young man's Aura powers also let him sense others ' thoughts. it's time. he thought. Storm flicked her ears and smiled- she had a bit of Aura powers so she knew what her trainer was thinking.
"Hey guys.. can you give us some .. privacy and .. go into the house?"" He asked the mice. They both got up and went into the house through the little Pokémon pet door flap at the bottom of the door. He turned to Sunset . " Can you bring us to the front of the house.. and then go get Mom?"
(Sure. ) She winked and nodded. She crouched low enough so that the two humans could climb onto her back. Once she'd flown them to the front yard and they had gotten off she smiled and took off into the air again.
"Wh-what's going on?" Misty asked after the dragon-like Fire/Flying Pokemon had disappeared from view. "You're acting... strange."
The black haired young man blushed and gave a nod to the house's large front window, which had its shades drawn and was open a little, .He'd told her sister Violet he was planning on popping the question that weekend and if she could record the moment, Well here goes nothing.
"Well... I was planning save this surprise for later after dinner. But with what just happened with Kris. .. .. " he took off his small cinch-sack , placed it on the ground, rummaged through it and got out the tiny blue box with the ring .
She clasped her hands to her open mouth as he knelt down on one knee right before the leaf patch in front of the house, opened the box and showed her . "Oh my freaking A-Arceus. Oh my freaking A-Arceus..Oh my freaking A-Arceus " she managed to squeak out,
"Misty You've been with me since day one of my Pokemon journey an we've been though so much together,At first, I know we both annoyed each other , couldn't stand each other and fought a lot but.. over time it mellowed out and our love began growing like a big tree. I dunno when it started but I started noticing how special and beautiful you were. You were there since the beginning and we've shared so much together. My heart broke when you couldn't go with me to Hoenn. Even when we were apart we still kept in contact and you were never far away from my mind or heart. I can't think of anyone I'd rather send my days with. " He paused. "Mom gave me this ring .. she said it was the one my l-late f-f-father proposed to her. Said it was one of the few things of his she kept. " I'd love to spend the rest of my life together with you. Will you m-marry me?"
Her heart pounded so fast she thought it would jump out of her body as tears of utter bliss ran down her face. Out of the comer of his eyes , he heard Violet , her husband David and their daughter Dani scream with glee through an open window as they watched them .
"YES! Yes, Yes and a hundred times yes!" she yelled her answer with delight as he put it on her finger, then lightly tackled him into the leaves while kissing him.
While in the leaf pile she whispered to him.. " Ashy .."
"Yeah?..."
" I have a a surprise for you too. I - I th-think our family's going to soon grow beyond us and Pikachu's family . " She whispered then paused. " I think I might be p-p-pregnant." She tripped over the last word .
His dark brown eyes went wide as maximized Ultra Balls at the last sentence and his jaw dropped . Wh-wh-what? I'm getting a fiancé and a future child in the same day ? He gazed at her glowing face and down at her belly- he could see a tiny bump . " Y-y-you're -"
"I'm pretty positive .. but I haven't actually tested it out yet . But that explains why I've been so n-not myself lately . K-K-Kris n-noticed my.. b-bump a-after he slugged me . he was g-gonna Stun Spore me and g- gonna use me as a hostage -" she trailed off and shivered.
He put a finger to her lips for a few seconds and then kissed her forehead . "oh Mist.. I'm so sorry . . no wonder he looked startled when Sunset Pikachu and i showed up - he was too busy plotting how he going use you and.. our little growing pumpkin ."
She stopped trembling and chuckled at his last four words. " Our little growing pumpkin ...thats a very autumn- like way of saying it .."
He kissed her. " Sweetheart don't think about that ... cruel cold hearted- man " he whispered. "Think about the b- b-b-baby- "- he tripped over the word as if he were trying to wrap his head around this new revelation. "and your new status." he reminded her. In response, she kissed him right on the lips

All through the rest of the day he couldn't help feeling lighter than a cloud and giddy, He felt like he wants to shout it to the world. David snapped a series of photos with the ring and they sent picture texts of it to their friends and family. Violet had put the video on her social media page so their phones ere buzzing all night. They decided not to tell his mother or Violet and her family the other news until the right time. However he knew his mother would figure it out. He suspected Pikachu and Storm knew.
He went to bed that night - full of food and his excitement about his two new roles.
