Just Me and My Raptors

Chapter 1: The Packs Begins

A young boy with blonde hair, blue eyes, looked as if he were lost in a military base. Why was he there, you might wonder? Well, his father had a meeting and the boy begged his father to take him along. While exploring the base, the boy discovered an incubator filled with abnormally large eggs. As he watched them, he noticed cracks starting to form on the surface of the eggs.

The boy was ecstatic; this would be the first time he had ever seen an egg hatch. The first thing he saw was a reptilian head break through the other eggs, followed by the others breaking free as well. The boy thought they looked cute. He said, "You four look hungry."

The creatures were chirping similar to that of a bird, or so he believed. The boy looked around the place and found some preserved meat in a fridge. He fed them it. The boy said, "There you go, eat up."

The boy was sitting on the ground with the creatures, feeding and petting them as they ate. After some time, a group of adults approached, and one of the men asked, "Jaune? Are you all right?"

The boy now identified as Jaune said, "Yes Dad, look at what I found." He added, "Hey! You two, no fighting! There's more where that came from!"

One of the little ones, more specifically the one with the blue stripe, stopped the fight. When the two stopped, Jaune threw another piece of meat for them. The adults, after getting over the initial shock, tried to get close, only for the little ones to hiss at them in warning. The boy's father stepped forward. At first, they were on guard, then when they got a good whiff of Jaune, they relaxed. The man got down on one knee and said, "I see you have taken my son as your alpha little raptor; don't worry, we'll take good care of you."

One of the other men said, "Mr. Arc, these Velociraptors are Attledee property."

He replied, "Unless you have a way to remove the imprint these four have on Jaune, they are basically useless to you."

The men in the room could not argue with that logic, so a man with a clover pin on his shirt made a call. Not long after, a man with black hair and a rim of white going around the bottom of the fade he had in his hair.

The man said, "Johnathan."

Johnathan said, "James, this is one of your ideas?"

In James' post "I'm Done With This World," he says," This was one of the Council's ideas; on paper, it looked good."

James said," Johnathan, why don't you take Jaune and the raptors outside while I talk to my men?"

Jaune walked away with his father and said, " See you in a bit, Uncle Ironwood."

After the boy walked away, James rounded on the soldiers and said," Does any of you idiots have any idea what you have done? A five-year-old kid was left unsupervised at a military installation! Do you have any idea how dangerous that could have been for us? We were lucky it was just this project; what would have happened if he had come across some of the more dangerous aspects of this facility?"

James shook his head, "No, thank you." He continued, "Now thanks to your carelessness, we have four raptors imprinted on a five-year-old child. If I do say so myself, four raptors that we spent millions of lien to make. That's not even counting the potential risk to the boy's life if the raptors decide one of them should be alpha when he gets older. Clover, I need you to get Johnathan for me; we need to talk about the situation. Remember, these may look cute, but they are animals and no animal is truly tamed."

Clover replied," Yes, sir, General Ironwood."

Later, in Ironwood's office…

James said," Johnathan, we have a problem. Those raptors won't leave him alone, and when they get older, they might challenge for the title of Alpha of the pack. I know you would rather not have any of your children involved in the hunting life in any form. If you want your son to live long, he'll need to be able to beat them if they think he's too weak to lead.

Johnathan said," I know Jaune wants to be a huntsman; at least now I know with these four he'll have something he can rely on when he's out on solo hunts."

James said, Good. You take your son and those raptors back home; I'll handle the idiots on the seats of power."

Twelve years later…

Jaune is presently seventeen, riding a motorcycle matching his color scheme—white with gold highlights (For the curious ones, it looks like a BMW M 1000 XR with a sidecar). He pulls up into the parking lot of a nightclub named The Club. Jaune is wearing a white chest plate with gold accents, white metal arm braces, and metal gloves. He enters the building with another man who he has tied up. Jaune heads toward a man dressed in black and white with a red tie, talking to a blonde-haired woman wearing a yellow vest, under a brown jacket, and biker shorts. Jaune says," Hey, Uncle Xiong."

Xiong said," Jaune, have a seat."

Xiong snapped his fingers and said," Boys, take him away. I apologize for the inconvenience; you have the best trackers I know."

Jaune said," Thinking nothing of it, I know how important your cover is."

The girl next to them said," Excuse me? What did you say?"

Jaune asked," She didn't know?"

Xiong said," I was just about to find out why she's here."

Jaune said," The information broker Junior is just a cover. Hei Xiong is an ex-hunter who runs this place, selling info to other hunters and criminals. Then he reports the information he gets from the criminals to the proper authorities."

Xiong said," Back surgery is no joke. I can still fight, but I'll never be mission-ready again, so I help out however I can."

The girl said," I feel better about this than I had planned. You saved me from having to pay a criminal." The woman asked, "How much do I owe you?"

Xiong took a look at the picture and said, "Yeah, I know her. Wait, you're Ray's girl! What I have isn't worth much, so it's on the house. This is what I know about her since you were born. She went back to Mistral to be with her

family there. From what Qrow let slip when he got drunk, she checks up on all of you every now and again."

The girl said," How?"

Xiong said," Her semblance allows her to create portals for anyone she has a connection with."

The girl thanked Xiong, gave him a tip, and then left. Jaune talked for a bit with Xiong and his bouncers before taking his leave.
