Just a Kiss by Lady A

Day 21

When Ali wakes up the first thing she notices is that she's definitely not in her bedroom. The second thing she notices is that she was alone. She was alone, probably in a love hotel, and most likely still in downtown.

And it starts to all hit her like a relapse. She was alone. Again. Having had sex with that stranger was no different than the last few times that she had been with Keigo, but at least this guy had had the decency to get her off. She wanted to be mad but she wasn't.

She would have welcomed feeling empty again, but instead she felt all the hurt. Curling up in the silky hotel sheets she starts to cry. Things weren't always bad with them. They used to care. There was love, the good kind.

They used to watch movies and go to the park. Picnics indoors and cheesy game nights. Take out and long talks. Talking about work, the commission, our future and the what ifs of life.

We shared soft kisses, the soft touches on the hip when you pass by, brushing your teeth in the mirror together. But it all got messed up. He stopped touching her at some point and they stopped the what ifs and long conversations.

Walking around the hotel room finding her clothing she thinks about how they met. She was an office worker that did statistics for ratings. Ali was in the calculations department. Her quirk helped her excel with math equations. She could see the numbers in her head. He had been advised to see her to do speed calculations for support gear. Gear for if he ever needed support for his wings.

It was an ongoing project and they got close. He'd made the first move with a simple kiss. Maybe it all should have ended when it started. With just that simple kiss. If she hadn't returned it, hadn't melted into his touch.

The walk out of the hotel and down the street was a walk of shame. She enjoyed the sex last night. But it's not what she wanted. She still wanted him.

She was wearing the same dress, her hair was tangled, and the shoes she was wearing were forming blisters.

Ali's phone bore no missed phone calls, texts or notifications. There was no one.

When she made it back to her step up from a shitty apartment she layed in her bed. On top of the covers, not caring that she was still wearing the same walk of shame clothing, and she went to sleep.

She went to sleep thinking of how she missed being next to him
