Authors Notes-Here I am back again with yet another chapter to Until You Are No more. As you can gather by how I only own the plot. Everything else belongs to Hasbro. Now that we got that out of the way here is Chapter Six. I hope you enjoy.
Chapter Six: Guilt And Anger.
Arcee couldn't sit still. She had been on edge ever since Jack had been taken. She was still mentally kicking herself for taking Jack with her on that cursed mission. She should have known that the 'Cons would target him. But there was another question she had. Why hadn't they heard from the Decepticons? Arcee leaned against the wall of the garage of the Darby house, arms crossed over her chestplate. Surely the Decepticons wanted something in exchange for the boy. Arcee growled, obviously they were toying with the Autobots.
If you hurt him, Megatron. She thought, optics narrowing into slits. You'll pay. As she thought that she then glance towards the door that lead into the Darby house. Her guilt intensifying as she thought about Jack's mother. Remembering the look of betrayal on June's face as she looked to Arcee. Arcee sighed, she had not only let Jack down but June as well. She had vowed to June to keep Jack safe, and she had broke her promise. Letting out a low growl she punched the wall, watching in satisfaction as cracks spidering along the concrete as she pulled her fist away.
"Wh-what?" June's startled voice called out, jerking Arcee for her dark thoughts.
Looking over her shoulder, and seeing June standing there. Hair disarray, her light blue robe hanging off of one shoulder. Obviously Arcee had woken her up with her little out burst. Arcee's guilt intensified as she watched as the woman stepped into the garage. Pulling her robe tighter around herself as June looked up at Arcee.
"What happened?" June asked, dread forming in the pit of her stomach. Did the Decepticons do something to Jack?
Arcee let her hand fall to herself. "It's nothing. I was just thinking." Arcee told her.
"About Jack?"
Arcee nodded.
June was silent as she moved to where Arcee was leaning against the wall, ignoring the crack in the wall, Arcee promised that she would fix it later. After all, when they finally got Jack back he wouldn't be too happy to find a huge crack in the wall. Hell, she was certain when June did notice she wouldn't be none too happy either, but the woman in question only stood beside Arcee, seeming lost in thought.
"Did I wake you?" Arcee asked after a while.
June shook her head. "Couldn't sleep. How could I? My only son is in the clutches of that...that monster." Anger tinted June's words. "And god only knows what he could be doing to Jack." June looked up at Arcee, tears brimming in her eyes.
Arcee said nothing as she crouched down, and placed a hand on June's shoulder, as the woman broke down into sobs. Arcee remaining silent as she pulled June close. Vowing she would do everything in her power to get Jack back. Arcee leaned against the wall once more, the crying June in her lap as she did so. Jack, Arcee thought, her optics off-lining. Just hold on a little longer. I'm coming for you.
Morning came far too quickly for Miko, as her alarm blared loudly in the once quiet room. Or it had, the alarm clock that had once belonged to the previous owner was now in pieces on the floor after Miko had flung it against the wall. Something that had got the attention of her Host mother as the older woman flung the door open. A look of concern on her face as she looked to Miko. Her eyes widening further when she saw the dark look on Miko's face as the girl swung her legs over the side of the bed, she was uncharacteristically silent as she got to her feet.
"Are...you okay?" Her Host mother asked, as Miko opened the door to her bathroom.
"Peachy." She grumbled, before slamming the door shut.
Leaning against the door Miko heaved a sigh. She had spent all night thinking about Jack, worried. Despite telling herself that he was fine...would be fine. But still she was worried. And of course upon hearing the news about what had happened Raf had become a nervous wreck somehow much worst than Jack's mother. And because of that Raf had done nothing just bring up worst case scenario after worst case scenario, despite Miko telling him to stay positive the boy just couldn't shut up. It almost became too much, and Miko snapped at him. And that caused all optics to fall onto her.
The glare Arcee had shot her made the girl shrink and mutter an apology to Raf, who only nodded. After that Optimus had sent Miko and Raf home without a word. And once she had returned home she spent the better part of the night tossing and turning and playing worst case scenario through her stressed mind. Guess she couldn't give Raf too much trouble. And now it was morning, and now she had to face a day of school. Yawning she stepped into the shower, and turned the water on as hot as can be.
Jack, she thought, running her fingers through her hair. You better be alive. Stepping out of the shower Miko wrapped a towel around herself, and headed back to her room. Seeing that her Host mother was gone. Good, she wasn't really in the mood to play twenty questions with her today. Going through the motions and heading down stairs, not bothering to say goodbye to her Host parents she rushed out the door. Where Bulkhead was waiting like he normally did. Muttering a hello to the green wrecker as he pulled away from the curb, and headed to school.
Though if she was being honest she knew there was no point, she wouldn't be able to focus. Well...when it came to school she could never focus but still with one of Team Prime in the clutches of the Decepticons she most certainly wouldn't be able to focus. Hell, she would be surprised if even Raf was able to focus. Seeing that they had arrived at school Miko stepped out of Bulkhead. Not hearing Bulkhead telling her to have a good day as she walked towards the school. Her gaze immediately going to where Jack's locker was, where he would normally be standing. Where she would normally find him, chatting awkwardly with Sierra. And speaking of Sierra, Miko scowled as the cheer captain looked over her shoulder at Miko.
"Hey Miko!" Sierra called out, rushing over to where Miko was.
Oh, great. Miko thought, rolling her eyes. Now I got to deal with her. "Hi, Sierra." Miko greeted as Sierra stopped in front of her.
"Um how are you?" Sierra asked.
"Is there something you need?" Miko asked, irritated.
"Um I was wondering if you've seen Jack at all today?" Sierra asked.
"Why?"
Sierra chewed on her bottom lip, a look of irritation on her face. It was no lie that she and Miko never got along, they belonged to different cliques after all. "Look, I was just curious I noticed he wasn't here and...yeah."
"He's...sick." Miko told her, before walking off. Not like you really care anyway. She thought darkly.
"Hey, Miko." Raf greeted, walking up beside her. Miko looked down at the younger boy, noting that Raf looked no better than her.
With dark circles under his eyes as well. Neither said anything as they walked to class. What could they say? Giving her head a shake Miko stepped into the classroom, and made her way to where she normally sat. Or would have if a certain someone hadn't stuck his foot out, tripping her before bursting out in laughter. Several of the other students following suit. Great, this was exactly what she needed on top of everything. Glaring at the only person who would try and start crap with her. Hell, the one who would try and start crap with any of them, mostly Jack.
Vince.
The red head continued to laugh. "Hey, freak how'd the ground taste?" he taunted.
Miko grumbled as she picked herself up off of the ground, gathering her books, and headed to her seat without a word to Vince. She wouldn't give him the satisfaction of a response. Sitting down she knew there was no point in trying to focus either, as her thoughts always turned to Jack. What was Megatron doing to him? Was he hurt? Was he dead? No! Miko shook her head, earning a few questioning looks from fellow students as the teacher droned on and on about...whatever they were focusing on in Art History. Miko then turned her gaze to the window where she could see Bulkhead and Bumblebee waiting for them.
Arcee was no where in sight. No doubt the femme was with June or at the Autobot base trying to come up with a plan to get Jack back. Unfortunately to Miko that seemed near impossible. She knew the Decepticon warship was always cloaked and could be anywhere. She knew she was being negative, she knew she should hold onto that hope that they would get Jack back. But even she had her doubts.
There could be a chance that Jack somehow finds away back to us...somehow. She thought, looking down at her notebook she was currently doodling in, her thoughts a thousand miles away. It's Jack he could find away out of anything. She was a little bit reassured by that thought as the bell rang, signaling that it was time for them to switch classes. Gathering up her books she followed after Raf, the two of them saying nothing as they parted ways for different classes. Miko hoped the day would go by fast, she wasn't sure she could handle anymore of this. However, as she was lost in thought someone slammed into her from behind. Making her drop her books.
Looking over her shoulder to see Vince once more as the red head walked off with a slimy smirk on his freckled face. Another downside to Jack not being around was that any other time Vince would target Jack for various reasons. The reasons being that Vince was an all around jerk . But Vince just seemed to have something against Jack in particular. And now that Jack wasn't here is was clearly up to Miko to take the brunt of Vince's tormenting. Unfortunately for Vince unlike Jack she wasn't the type to just brush it off. And as time went on her anger seemed to bubble to the surface. Taking a few deeps breaths she picked up her books, and walked off.
Jack's voice whispering in her head to calm down, that he wasn't worth it. Something he had told Miko every time she wanted to do something about Vince. Something she was actually considering but it was hard especially today. At least Vince seemed to leave Raf alone...for now. Nodding to herself she headed for her next class. Eager for the day to end.
Today just seemed to drag. Raf thought, as the final bell for home time rang. The boy quietly getting his things into his back pack to head to the Autobot base. Stepping out of the classroom he headed towards the door that lead outside, brown eyes blinking against the bright light. Taking one step outside he let out a startled cry as he was suddenly shoved down. His glasses flying off off when he hit the ground.
"Oops." Vince's voice spoke, drawing closer to him.
Great, Raf thought as he struggled to pick himself up off the ground, moving to pick his glasses up, only to have Vince shove him to the ground again. Just what I need on top of everything else. Jack in the hands of the Decepticons, and now this. Apparently Vince had grown tired of picking on Miko and getting no reaction. Just his luck...
"Sorry shrimp didn't see you there." Vince chuckle. As Raf reached for his glasses once more, only to have Vince step on them. Raf let out a strangled noise as he did so. "Ooh," Vince said, placing his hand on his mouth in mock shock. "Sorry I didn't see those there, I must be blind-ah!" Vince cried out as someone shoved him from behind.
Whirling around Vince saw Miko standing there. Eyes narrowed she glared at Vince. "Oh, now the freak wants to fight now that I've started picking on her little boyfriend." That earned him a laugh from his friends, who had followed him outside and were now surrounding them. "Where's Darby? Too much of a pussy to come and face me?" Vince continued to taunt.
That seemed to be the breaking point for Miko. She had enough. As Vince turned to address his friends, she let out an enraged scream, surprising Raf as she lunged for Vince. Her fist connecting with the red headed boys freckled cheek. And that was all it took as Vince hit the ground with a pained grunt. A stunned silence falling over the group. That was until Vince slowly got to his feet once more, rubbing his bruised cheek, green eyes narrowed as he looked to Miko. Eyes widening as she charged at him, and knocked him to the ground, punching him over and over.
All while Bumblebee and Bulkhead looked on, worried.
*Bulkhead* Bumblebee spoke, as the green wrecker let out a ground. *You should do something.*
"What do you want me to do?" Bulkhead asked. "It's not like I can just walk over and pull her off of him. And don't even think of asking me to drive over there either."
*But if this keeps up...* Bumblebee said, worried.
The two Autobots looking on as Miko continued to beat Vince to a pulp, all the while a terrified Raf tried in vain to get her to stop. That is until one of the teachers, upon hearing the commotion rushed into pull her off of Vince. The bully now laying curled up in a ball, weeping while his friends stood there watching as he did so.
"Get off of me!" Miko snarled, shrugging the teacher off, and walked to where Bulkhead was waiting.
It was then he saw blood dripping from her nose, and what looked like the start of a black eye. Where as Raf had scrape on his cheek from when Vince had pushed hm down the stairs. Neither Bumblebee or Bulkhead said a word as they opened their doors, and allowed their human charges in. Pulling away from the school Bumblebee watched Raf from his rear-view mirror. As the young boy pulled something out of his back pack. Seeing that it was another pair of glasses. Bumblebee couldn't help but chuckle. That was Raf for you hardly unprepared. The two drove off in silence as they headed for the Autobot base.
Optimus was silent as he typed away at the console, his attention focused on tracking down the Decepticon ship. Both he and Ratchet had spent the entire night working endlessly to do so. And so far no such luck, and the longer they came up empty-handed the angrier Optimus became. Angry at himself, angry at Megatron. To think that one of their human friends was in trouble, Optimus shook his head. Shoving these irrational emotions away Optimus sighed. Dwelling on what happened would not help anyone and he was determined to bring Jack back home, no matter the cost.
From the corner of his optic Optimus could see Ratchet watching him as the old medic focused on some project to keep his mind off of what was happening. However, he was soon jerked from his thoughts when he heard the all too familiar sound one of his Autobots arriving at the base. Looking over his shoulder he saw Arcee. But that was not all, sitting in her seat was June Darby. Optimus looked to Arcee as she transformed and looked to him.
"I couldn't leave her alone." Arcee said.
Optimus could only nod, before turning back to the console, and continued to type. June watched as Optimus worked as she chewed on her bottom lip when she saw an intense look on the Autobot leaders faceplate as she debated asking if he made any process in their search. But thought against it the last thing she wanted to do was distract him as she turned to look to Arcee. Seeing the femme in question was currently pacing a hole in the floor, also chewing on her bottom lip. Moving up to the mezzanine and took a seat on the couch June sighed. She needed something to do, anything to keep her mind off of Jack. And thankfully it would seem that her prayers had been answered as the sound of car engines reached her ears.
A sign that the kids were arriving at the base with their Autobot guardians. Looking up she saw both Bulkhead and Bumblebee arrive. Her eyes widening as they settled on a bloody Miko.
"W-what happened?" she asked, rushing down the stairs towards the girl. Taking her face in her hands, Miko grumbling as she tried in vain to get the older woman off of her.
But June held fast as she took in the bloody nose, and other injuries. All the while Raf explained to June what had transpired at school. Normally June would have disapproved of Miko's rebellious antics and reckless behavior but given what had happened June could imagine this whole situation was stressful on the kids as well.
"Anything new turn up?" Raf asked, looking to Ratchet.
A look on annoyance forming on the old medics faceplate. Opening his mouth he was about to shoot the boy down when a beep from the console Optimus was working on caught every bodies attention. A small sliver of hope forming in June's chest as she looked to Optimus.
Blue eyes widening as he stopped typing on the console, and turned to address the rest of the Autobots, who were watching him intently. Hope shining in their optics. Bumblebee had a hand on Arcee's shoulder as the blue femme looked to him, hopeful.
"Autobots," Optimus spoke, June's heart was thundering in her chest as she gripped the railing.
Please tell me he found the Decepticons. She thought. Please, please, please god let it be so.
"I have discovered the Decepticons location." He finished.
June released the breath she had been holding, as she dropped to her knees, both Miko and Raf looking at her with concern shining in their eyes. Now the Autobots would hopefully be able to bring Jack home. Tears streamed down her cheeks, soon this nightmare would be over. As Ratchet typed the coordinates to the Decepticon ship into the ground bridge, the ground bridge opening up revealing that swirling green-blue portal.
June was silent as the Autobots transformed and drove through. Leaving the humans alone with Ratchet. The medic was silent as he looked to where June and the others were. A faint reassuring smile on his lips before turning away, going back to his previous task. All the while they waited, and hoped...
Authors Notes- Yeah okay the ending to this chapter wasn't that great. I tried to come up with a better way to end it but couldn't. And sorry this chapter was kind of meh, I realized that I had been focusing on Jack and Megatron for most of the story and wanted to write something from the Autobots and humans perspective and such. Never less I hope you enjoyed it and this is The Exhausted Writer signing off, have a good day!
