Hello, I'm sorry to say this but I won't be updating due to the Christmas season I will be coming with another book in a few days which is one short.
"My hairpin and I will answer you." She said opening her hands.
Ji Hoo couldn't help but be intrigued by Jan Di's bold statement. He had been curious about her since they first met, and now he found himself even more fascinated by her. Without hesitation, he asked her, "If I give it back to you, do you promise I can keep seeing you?"
Jan Di was taken aback by Ji Hoo's request. They had only met yesterday, and already he was making such a bold and unusual demand. She struggled to maintain her composure as she faced Ji Hoo. "We just met yesterday, and already you're making such a bold and unusual demand?" she said, her voice trembling slightly.
Ji Hoo didn't seem to be discouraged by Jan Di's reluctance. He took a step forward, closing the distance between them. Jan Di, feeling uncomfortable, instinctively took a step back, only to realize that she had backed herself into a corner on the balcony. Ji Hoo's voice was low and intense as he spoke, his eyes focused on her. "I have never felt so comfortable with my best friends, but with just one meeting between us, I feel a connection that I can't ignore. It may seem bold, but I can't help but want to see you again and again."
His words echoed in the silence that followed, and Jan Di could feel her heart racing as she tried to process what he had just said. She was completely speechless. She had never met anyone like Ji Hoo before, and his unexpected confession left her feeling confused and overwhelmed but looking into his eyes, she felt a strange stirring inside her, a feeling she couldn't quite put into words and then she pushed him away, her heart was racing with a mix of emotions.
"Is that one of your pickup lines?" It wasn't the first time boys had approached her in the martial arts world, but it was always because of her position as the soon-to-be leader of all the martial arts sects and her incredible skills that surpassed everyone else's. However, this interaction felt different. It wasn't about her position or abilities; it was about a genuine connection that she had never experienced before.
"Not necessarily." Yoon Ji Hoo had carried out a thorough background check on Geum Jan Di, but despite all the information he had gathered about her, he couldn't shake off the feeling that she was different from anyone he had ever met. He was searching for someone who could truly understand him on a deeper level, and he sensed that Geum Jan Di might just be that person. Despite having only met her the day before, he felt an immediate connection with her that left him feeling elated and content. He knew that he would rely on her, not because of her social status or position in the world, but because of the inexplicable electricity he felt when he was around her. She had ignited a spark within him that he couldn't ignore, and he was drawn to her in a way that he had never experienced before not even Min Seo Hyun could bring that out of him.
"Can we be friends?" Ji Hoo extended his hand toward Jan Di with a warm smile, his eyes sparkling with kindness and sincerity. As she looked at him, her heart skipped a beat, and she felt a rush of excitement. She couldn't help but feel drawn to him as he leaned in to kiss her cheek, sending a wave of butterflies through her stomach.
Jan Di's mind was completely occupied by Ji Hoo's smile and his glowing eyes. She was left powerless to deny whatever he would ask of her. She felt a magnetic pull toward him as if they were connected by an invisible thread. The red flag that would have been waived for her by now was nowhere to be found, as she was completely captivated by his presence.
At that moment, the world around them seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of them in a moment of undeniable chemistry. The soft breeze that had been blowing through the trees seemed to be still, and the sound of the birds singing in the distance faded away. All that remained was the sound of their breathing and the beating of their hearts.
Her heart raced, and she found herself eagerly anticipating what he would say next. She felt as though she could get lost in his eyes forever, and she didn't want the moment to end.
Finally, she mustered the courage to ask, "Why do you want me to be your friend?" Her voice was barely above a whisper, and she couldn't help but feel a little nervous. But as she looked into Ji Hoo's eyes, she knew that she could trust him completely.
As he moved closer to her, their faces were so close that their noses barely brushed each other with every word he spoke. His voice sounded softer but deeper as he spoke, and he smiled at her before replying to her question. "You are different," he said with a playful grin, "you have wings that will make my transport easier." He then became more serious as he continued, "But you have so much more that captivates me."
He looked into her eyes as he spoke, "Your eyes are truly beautiful. They captivate me every time I look at them. They remind me of the deep blue sea, and I can't help but get lost in them." His gaze then shifted to her lips, and he couldn't resist but smile again before continuing. "And your voice is like music to my ears. It's so calming. It's like listening to a sweet melody that puts me at ease."
As he reached out to brush a strand of hair away from her face, he couldn't help but admire how soft and silky her hair was. It shaped her face in the most enchanting way. "Your hair is so soft and silky. It smells so good too, like fresh flowers in the spring. It's such a perfect match to your captivating eyes and soothing voice."
Jan Di couldn't help but feel a sense of amusement in her voice as she asked Yoon Ji Hoo, "Are you perhaps flirting with me?" Her tone was playful and teasing, as she leaned in closer to him, mirroring his earlier gesture. Her lips curled into a smile, revealing her enjoyment of the situation.
In response, he replied with a mischievous twinkle in his eye, "If you want to find out… you'll have to give me your number and I will pick up where I left off." His words were suggestive and filled with confidence, indicating his interest in her.
At this, Jan Di raised an eyebrow and said, "Excuse me?" Her tone was incredulous as if she couldn't believe what she had just heard. She was taken aback by his boldness and wasn't quite sure how to respond.
Realizing he had caught her off guard, he chuckled and clarified with a charming smile, "I mean, if you're interested in getting to know each other better and seeing how good I can flirt, exchanging numbers would be a good start."
As she laughed softly, her eyes sparkled with intrigue and playfulness. "Well, I suppose I could make an exception this time," she teased, reaching for her phone to exchange contact information. "But not flirting with me."
Ji Hoo eagerly took out his phone and typed his number into hers, saving it under the name 'Mr. Right' with a grin on his face. "Since you've given me your number, it's only fair that I give you mine," he said with a hint of confidence in his voice.
She leaned in closer, her eyes fixed on his phone, and asked, "And what name did you save on my number?"
A playful grin spread across his face, his eyes sparkling with mischief as he gazed at her. In response to her question, he revealed that he had saved the file as 'The One', and the confidence in his voice made her heart skip a beat. She felt a rush of mixed emotions—a blend of surprise, excitement, and a hint of delight.
"OH!" she exclaimed, a wave of butterflies fluttered in her stomach, and she tried to hide her nervousness. The air was thick with anticipation, and they exchanged smiles and lingering glances, lost in the moment. It was as if the atmosphere was electrically charged with an unfamiliar feeling, one that they couldn't quite understand, but couldn't ignore. The intensity of their connection was surprising, especially after just one day of meeting each other.
Ji Hoo stood there, gazing at her intently with a soft smile on his face. He took a step back, giving her some space as he began to speak. "Do you remember the hairpin I gave you yesterday?" he said, his voice calm and soothing. "I know it's not the same as the one I kept away, but I got you something else today that I think you'll like even more."
With these words, he reached into his dresser coat pocket and pulled out a medium-sized velvet box, handing it to her with a gentle gesture. As she eagerly took the box from him, she could feel her heart racing with anticipation, wondering what could be inside.
She opened the box to reveal a stunning set of jewels that left her breathless. The anklet was a work of art, with a glamorous butterfly design adorned with sparkling diamonds and vibrant gemstones, each one shining brightly in the light. The sheer elegance and beauty of the piece left her mesmerized, as she stared at it in awe, unable to take her eyes off it.
It was the most exquisite piece of jewelry she had ever seen, and she knew that it was a gift that she would treasure for the rest of her life. She turned to Ji Hoo, a look of gratitude and amazement on her face, and whispered, "Thank you."
…
Ji Hoo took the anklet from the box and got down on his knees, gently removing the socks she was wearing. He placed the anklet on her bare foot, and it shimmered in the sunlight, accentuating her delicate ankle and adding a touch of elegance to her every step.
As she admired the anklet, she couldn't help but ask, "Was this necessary for such an expensive set?"
Ji Hoo smiled at her and took the stick hairpin from the box. It was adorned with a yellow gold lotus holder and a single, dazzling diamond at the top. He carefully inserted the pin into her hair, securing it in place with a gentle twist. The hairpin complemented the anklet perfectly, enhancing her overall look and leaving her feeling even more glamorous.
"I noticed your Jade hairpin seems like a traditional handmade accessory that adds a unique touch to your style," he remarked. "But I will keep it for you."
…
"You—" Jan Di pointed an accusing finger at Ji Hoo, but he quickly silenced her by placing a finger on her lips. He leaned in closer, his eyes filled with warmth and affection, and whispered softly, "No need to say anything. You have agreed to be my friend, so take this as an apology for keeping away your hairpin."
"But that hairpin is not just any ordinary hairpin," Jan Di protested.
"I know," Ji Hoo replied, his voice gentle and reassuring. "It's a token of leadership in the martial arts world, and it holds great significance."
"How did you know that?" Jan Di asked, her eyes widening in surprise.
Ji Hoo smiled mysteriously, his fingers still resting on her lips. "I have my ways of finding out things," he said. "But trust me, if that hairpin falls into the wrong hands, it could cause chaos and destruction. And that's why I am keeping it away—to protect you and keep it safe."
The woman's voice was firm and resolute as she spoke, "No! If it falls into the wrong hands, it will be a disaster, and that's why you have to give it back to me immediately."
Ji Hoo's expression changed as he heard her words. He looked at her with a hint of disappointment and asked, "Don't you trust me?"
The woman's response was quick and sharp, "Why should I? I just met you yesterday, and you want me to trust you with something so important?" Her voice was filled with skepticism and doubt.
Ji Hoo's smile faded slightly as he looked into her eyes. He spoke softly, "I understand your hesitation. But sometimes we must leap of faith, especially when the stakes are high. Trust me, I will do everything in my power to protect you and ensure that this hairpin doesn't fall into the wrong hands."
The woman was still not convinced. She asserted, "I can protect myself. I don't need anyone's help."
Ji Hoo's frustration was evident as he questioned her, "We are back to square one? How about this… I know it is very foolish and bold of me to say this, but… I like you."
The woman was taken aback by his confession. She exclaimed in disbelief, "HUH!" Her eyes widened as she tried to process what he had just said.
Ji Hoo moved closer to her, and spoke in a low voice, his tone heavy with concern. "I want to protect you," he said. "You're not in your martial arts world here. If anyone discovers that you have wings and hold supreme authority, do you think your Kungfu will save you?" He paused for a moment, then continued, "Here in our world, people can be cruel. They emotionally torment you, and social media can be used against you. It's not safe for you to reveal your true identity."
She considered his words for a moment, then replied, her voice softer now. "I appreciate your concern, but I have trained for years, honing my skills. I have faith in my ability to defend myself, even in unfamiliar territory. I understand the risks, but I won't back down from a challenge."
He sighed, reaching out to gently touch her arm without hesitation. "I know you're strong," he said sincerely. "But sometimes, even the strongest need someone by their side. Let me be that person for you."
Jan Di turned around abruptly to face Ji Hoo, her expression betraying a mix of skepticism and annoyance. She had found him to be a bit too flirty for her liking, and his behavior in the stairwell had only confirmed her suspicions. She rolled her eyes in exasperation as she crossed her arms over her chest and asked in a tone laced with sarcasm, "And what exactly do you think you can do? Apart from flirting with me the minute you get a chance?"
Ji Hoo chuckled softly at her remark, trying his best to lighten the mood. He knew that he tended to flirt with her, but he couldn't help himself. "Oh, come on now. Don't be like that," he said with a grin, hoping to make her smile. "I can do a lot of things, you know. And if you say that, I might just lose my way into your beautiful eyes."
Jan Di rolled her eyes and made a funny face, but she couldn't help but feel a small twinge of amusement. Despite her reservations about Ji Hoo, she had to admit that he had a certain charm. Still, she wasn't sure if she could trust him to have her back, and she turned around to leave the stairwell, her mind racing with doubts and uncertainties.
Ji Hoo had just finished his conversation with Jan Di, and as he emerged from the stairwell, he was greeted by the sight of Ga Eul waiting for him. She stood there, fidgeting with her fingers, a look of anxiousness etched on her face. Ji Hoo knew that Ga Eul liked to wait for him in the stairwell, where he took a quick nap before his classes began. He had a soft spot for the place, and Ga Eul had noticed it. She often found herself waiting there, hoping to catch a glimpse of him and remind him not to oversleep.
"Good morning, Ga Eul," Ji Hoo greeted her with a warm smile.
Ga Eul couldn't help but notice the change in Ji Hoo's demeanor. He seemed more cheerful and at ease than usual, his eyes shining with a newfound happiness. As she looked at him, a feeling of envy washed over her. She had always been fond of Ji Hoo, and the thought of him being close to someone else made her heart ache.
"It seems Jan Di and you are getting along quite well," Ga Eul remarked, trying to sound casual. "After just one meeting, you seem to be smiling more openly." Her voice trailed off, and she couldn't help the bitterness that crept into her words. She knew that she had no right to feel this way, but she couldn't help it. Ji Hoo had always been special to her and seeing him with someone else was hard to bear.
Ji Hoo's face lit up with a wide grin as he threw his arm around Ga Eul's shoulder. "Jan Di is just the cutest thing, isn't she? Her energy and positivity are infectious. I feel like I'm drawn to her like a moth to a flame. It's like she has this aura around her that just makes you feel good inside."
Ga Eul looked up at him and forced a smile, though she couldn't help but feel a tinge of jealousy creeping up inside her. "You even got her number, huh?" she asked, trying to sound casual.
Ji Hoo nodded, his eyes twinkling with a mischievous glint. "Yeah, I did. I couldn't help myself." He nudged her playfully, but he could tell that his words had wounded her.
Suddenly feeling guilty, Ji Hoo tried to make amends. "Hey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. You know I value our friendship more than anything, right?"
Ga Eul nodded, her eyes downcast. She knew that Ji Hoo had never seen her as more than a friend, but it still hurt to see him pursuing someone else. "I know," she said softly, her voice barely above a whisper.
Ji Hoo put his arm around her tighter and gave her a reassuring squeeze. "Listen, it's not like that between me and Jan Di. We have just become friends. And you know what? I think you'd really like her if you got to know her."
Ga Eul looked up at him, her eyes brimming with unspoken emotions. "Maybe," she said with a small smile. "It's just hard sometimes, you know? Having my best friend slip away like that."
"I know," Ji Hoo said. "But we'll get through it together. And who knows? Maybe you'll meet someone even better than me."
Ga Eul laughed, feeling a weight lift off her shoulders. "Maybe," she said. "But for now, I'm just happy to have you as my friend."
They continued walking down the street, side by side, the sun shining down on them. Ji Hoo felt grateful for Ga Eul's understanding, and he knew that their friendship would always be strong, no matter what.
"Hey Ga Eul," Woo Bin said with a smile. "Were you waiting for this sleepy head again?"
Ga Eul laughed and replied, "Of course, Woo Bin. Ji Hoo can sleep through a tornado."
Woo Bin chuckled and said, "Well, at least he has you to rely on. You're always there for him." Ga Eul nodded, grateful for the bond she shared with Ji Hoo.
"That's what friends are for," she said, her voice filled with warmth.
…
Gu Jun Pyo looked at his Apple phone watch, a designer piece that cost a fortune. "Time to make our entrance," he announced, with a smirk on his face. Jun Pyo was the leader of the F4, a group of four elite students who ruled Shinhwa High School and were famous across Asia. He enjoyed being the center of attention and was not afraid to act immaturely to assert his power.
Ga Eul, one of Jun Pyo's classmates, rolled her eyes at his antics and walked away. She did not like to get involved in Jun Pyo's games and preferred to focus on her own goals. She believed that true strength came from within and not from exerting dominance over others.
Yi Jung, another member of the F4, spoke up, curious about Jun Pyo's behavior. "Don't you get tired of this?" he asked.
Jun Pyo was annoyed by Yi Jung's question, finding it obvious. "Of what?" he replied.
"Of us making an entrance everywhere we go," Yi Jung explained. "Everyone already knows who we are. Why do we have to keep doing this?"
Jun Pyo, irritated by the question, retorted, "Asserting our dominance over everyone will make them respect us."
"But it's getting tiring and repetitive," Woo Bin countered and turned to Ji Hoo, who seemed not to care about anything but looking at his phone. "What's up, Ji Hoo…? We are discussing something important here, and you are on your phone. "Woo Bin asked, getting frustrated with Ji Hoo's behavior.
Ji Hoo glanced up from his phone, his expression indifferent. "Were you saying something important?"
Ji Hoo's nonchalant response only fueled Woo Bin's frustration, as he realized that Ji Hoo's lack of interest in their discussions was becoming a recurring issue. "It seems like you're always detached from our conversations," Woo Bin pointed out, his tone filled with disappointment. "You didn't even realize Ga Eul left."
"Oh," Ji Hoo said, looking around in confusion, finally noticing Ga Eul's absence. "But why did she leave?"
Woo Bin sighed, feeling exasperated. "She left because you were too engrossed in your phone to notice her departure," he explained, his frustration evident in his voice. Ji Hoo's indifferent attitude only made Woo Bin more irritated. "Yesterday you were too focused on that Jade hairpin; now you are on the phone."
"What were you discussing?" he asked apologetically, putting his phone back in his pocket.
Woo Bin shook his head, feeling a mix of annoyance and disappointment. "It doesn't matter now. The point is, you need to be more present in the moment and pay attention to the people around you."
Ji Hoo nodded, realizing his mistake. "You're right; I should have been more aware. I'll make sure to be more mindful from now on." 'Why isn't Jan Di replying to my texts?' Ji Hoo wondered, feeling a sense of unease.
Jan Di leaned on the stairs leading to her class, her phone buzzing incessantly in her hand. She looked down to see the 'Mr. Right.' name, flashed on the screen, and let out a sigh of frustration. She had only given him her number a few minutes ago, and he was already bombarding her with messages. She scrolled through the messages, increasingly annoyed with each new notification.
"Why does this flirt keep texting me?" she muttered to herself. "I barely know him, and he won't leave me alone." She paused, considering whether to reply to his latest message. He had asked if they could have lunch together, but she wasn't sure she was interested.
Just as she was about to type out a response, another message came in. This time it was from her grandfather's secretary, Secretary Park. Jan Di's heart skipped a beat as she read the message.
"Your grandfather got a new apartment, which you will move into. I will come to pick you up to check it out."
Jan Di was stunned. A new apartment? She had no idea her grandfather had been looking for a new place for her to live. She quickly replied to Secretary Park, agreeing to meet him and check out the new apartment. As she put down her phone, she couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement mixed with apprehension. What changes would this new apartment bring to her life?
As Jan Di was still looking through her phone, she suddenly heard a loud exclamation from outside. "F4!" someone shouted from the main building's entrance. She opened her eyes and shifted her gaze to the entrance. She saw a group of four boys walking towards the school building, attracting attention from everyone around them. The boys were walking with an air of confidence, and the girls were squealing and waving at them.
The four boys, known as F4, walked away from the crowd and finally came to a halt in front of a girl with big eyes and a big smile on her face. She held a small box with a homemade heart-shaped cake on top. She presented it to their leader, Goo Jun Pyo.
"Jun Pyo Sunbae, I baked this for you! Please accept this as a token of my affection for you," the girl said, her voice filled with excitement and nervousness.
Jun Pyo looked at the girl and then down to the cake, grabbing it in his hands and tilting his head as he inspected it. The happy girl looked up, and before she knew it, he smashed the cake on her face and let it fall to the floor, leaving her face covered in strawberry syrup and white frosting. The hallway fell silent as everyone watched in shock. Jun Pyo's action was unexpected and cruel, causing the girl's excitement to turn into embarrassment and hurt.
Sunny, Miranda, and Ginger couldn't help but laugh at Jun Pyo's cold behavior. "Our Jun Pyo Sunbae-nim only eats cakes made by top-tier pastry chefs," Ginger said with a sweet smile before the three queens shook their fingers at the girl.
Jun Pyo made his way to the three queens. He snatched Ginger's handkerchief from her blazer pocket, wiping the remaining frosting from his fingers before tossing it on the ground. The three girls quickly struggled to grab the handkerchief, sniffing at it, and holding it close, fighting over it with scowls on their faces.
Finally, the F4 boys walked away from the crowd, not noticing Jan Di standing in their way. Geum Jan Di stood with her arms crossed over her chest and looked up and down at the boys angrily.
"Who are you? Why are you in my way?" Gu Jun Pyo suddenly asked her, "Do you have something to say?" he demanded, his voice filled with both curiosity and annoyance.
"Yeah, I do have something to say! " Jan Di said, lifting her finger to point at him. "You!" Jan Di yelled at him, "Do you have no respect for people?" Jan Di's voice echoed through the empty hall, catching the attention of students. Her anger radiated as she continued to confront Gu Jun Pyo, her words piercing through the silence. The F3 boys exchanged glances, unsure of how to respond to her fiery outburst; however, Ji Hoo gave a side smile of admiration, impressed by Jan Di's boldness.
Jan Di found herself face-to-face with Gu Jun Pyo, the arrogant leader of the F4, who had just snapped his fingers to get her attention. She knew she had to be careful around him, especially since this was only her second day at Shinhwa High School. She bit her tongue, suppressing her urge to confront him, and instead took a deep breath, choosing to stay out of trouble for now. As she stepped aside, she made a silent vow to stand up to him when the time was right.
As the F4 moved away, Ji Hoo, Gu Jun Pyo's best friend, lingered next to her, sensing her frustration. He knew what she wanted to say but could not. "You know, you're cuter when you speak your mind," he whispered gently, a playful grin forming on his lips. "And also, you should answer my texts. And if you have no credit, please tell me."
Jan Di could not help but roll her eyes at Ji Hoo's teasing. "Stay away from me," she said, shoving him away lightly from her and walking to her class.
Ji Hoo chuckled, understanding her need for space. "Alright, I'll give you some breathing room just for now," he replied, a hint of concern in his voice. He watched her walk to her class, and he decided to go to his class.
As Miranda, Sunny, and Ginger strolled through the hallways of Shinhwa High School, their attention was drawn to Jan Di and Ji Hoo's interaction. Miranda couldn't help but comment on it, "Did you see that?"
Sunny nodded in agreement. "Yeah! It seems that she and our Ji Hoo Sunbae are familiar with each other."
Ginger, who had been walking silently beside them, suddenly exclaimed in a dramatic tone, "I can't have that traditional long-haired girl take away my Ji Hoo Sunbae!"
Miranda and Sunny exchanged amused glances, knowing Ginger's tendency to be possessive. "Don't worry, Ginger. We are the three queens of Shinhwa High School, and the F4 are our kings," Miranda reassured, causing Ginger to let out a relieved sigh.
Sunny, always one for mischief, suggested with a grin, "We should go and let her know her place in this school." It was clear that the three girls would stop at nothing to assert their dominance over others, especially when it came to the F4, who were the most popular and sought-after boys in school.
Jan Di was sitting at her desk, waiting for the teacher to arrive, when she noticed three unfamiliar girls approaching her. She couldn't recall seeing them before, but maybe she had just ignored them. Despite their confident postures and smug expressions, Jan Di couldn't shake off the feeling that these girls were trouble. However, she decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and hear them out.
As soon as the trio reached her, Jan Di looked up and braced herself for their intentions. She had always been good at reading people's minds, and this was one of her strongest weapons and gifts in the martial arts world. Even though the girls tried to appear confident, Jan Di could sense their nervousness and apprehension.
Jan Di focused on the girl with pink ribbons in her hair, and she could tell that she was the weakest link among the three. Her eyes darted nervously, betraying her feigned confidence. Jan Di could also tell that the girl had a crush on Ji Hoo, and that was the main reason they were there. Although Jan Di didn't know what these girls wanted from her, she was prepared to face them head-on if they tried to cause any trouble. "Out with it," Jan Di demanded, her eyes narrowing in determination.
As the girls stood there, Jan Di's straightforward approach caught them off guard. They exchanged glances with one another, their expressions betraying a hint of surprise. After a moment of hesitation, one of them finally spoke up with a condescending tone. "Well, well, well. Look, we've finally decided to introduce ourselves," said the girl standing in the middle, Ginger.
Jan Di crossed her arms, maintaining her unwavering gaze. "Introduce yourselves? I don't recall asking for your names," she retorted, her voice dripping with sarcasm. The other girls shifted uncomfortably, realizing that their attempt to assert dominance had backfired. Jan Di's confidence seemed unshakable, leaving them unsure of how to proceed.
"I'm Ginger," she said defiantly, meeting Jan Di's gaze with unwavering determination.
Sunny, the girl towards the right, flicked her hair in a show of nonchalance. "I'm Sunny," she said as if expecting Jan Di to be impressed.
The girl on the left, Miranda, looked down at Jan Di with a smug expression. "And I'm Miranda," she said as if daring Jan Di to challenge them.
Then, the three of them spoke in unison, "You can call us the three queens of Shinhwa, and the F4 are our kings."
Jan Di, however, stood up with an air of confidence, her long black hair slightly pulled back to reveal her glamorous yellow diamond butterfly-layered necklace and earrings, a gift from Ji Hoo that morning. Her eyes gleamed with determination as she spoke. "Let me guess, you're here to warn me to stay away from your Ji Hoo Sunbae, right?" She smirked, unimpressed by their posturing. "Well, sorry to burst your bubble, but Ji Hoo Sunbae is a free man and can make his own choices."
The three queens exchanged surprised glances, realizing that Jan Di was not one to be intimidated, and walked away.
…
"Have you eaten?" Ji Hoo texted, hoping this time she would reply.
"Not yet" she replied.
"Would you like to have lunch together in the cafeteria?"
"Really? You're not going to eat with F4?"
"Not today. I want to eat with you, my new friend."
Jan Di smiled to herself.
Jan Di and Ji Hoo were sitting at a corner table in the Shinhwa High Cafeteria, surrounded by a sea of students. As Jan Di looked around, she could feel the whole room's eyes upon her. It was clear that her presence with Ji Hoo had become a source of curiosity and even envy for many.
Despite the attention, Ji Hoo didn't seem to notice or care. He was used to being stared at. Jan Di, on the other hand, felt a bit uncomfortable but decided to take a stand. As Ginger, Sunny, and Miranda shot her dirty looks, she glared right back at them, sending a message of 'back off' with her eyes. Then, she turned back to Ji Hoo with a smile.
Ji Hoo had purchased lunch from the cafeteria, and he had offered to buy her lunch too. But Jan Di informed him that she brought her own. "What is that?" Ji Hoo asked delicately, pointing to a food item in her lunchbox.
"Really, Ji Hoo? You need to ask about that now?" She replied, rolling her eyes playfully. "This is a traditional Korean dish called bibimbap. My grandfather prepared it for me."
Jan Di stared at Ji Hoo, incredulous, though it truly didn't surprise her. "You F4 and your refined tastes—you don't know what you're missing," she grinned. "Here, try some," she said, holding out one for him.
Ji Hoo popped it into his mouth and chewed slowly and thoroughly. "Mm, that's very tasty."
Jan Di chuckled, "I'm glad you like it," and she smiled sweetly.
"Your grandfather is a good cook," Ji Hoo remarked.
"Mm," she nodded in agreement.
As he took a bite of his food, he let out a pleased sigh and remarked, "It's very good." Jan Di couldn't help but feel a little curious about what he was eating. "Do you want to try mine?" he asked, holding out a piece of fried meat to her.
Jan Di was taken aback by his gesture. She had only just met Ji Hoo yesterday, and now he was offering her a bite of his food in public.
Her cheeks flushed with embarrassment as she tried to politely decline. But Ji Hoo was insistent, and before she knew it, he had placed the piece of meat in her mouth. As she chewed, Jan Di couldn't help but wonder what was going through Ji Hoo's mind. She had always found him difficult to read, but his actions now contradicted the reserved and introverted nature she had come to expect from him. "This marks the day of our unbreakable friendship."
As she looked around the room, Jan Di could see that their exchange had not gone unnoticed. Some of their classmates looked shocked, while others looked envious. Despite the attention, Jan Di couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable. She wondered if Ji Hoo had any idea of the spectacle he had just created.
In the luxurious F4 lounge, Jun Pyo, Yi Jung, Woo Bin, and Ga Eul were hanging out. Jun Pyo seemed to be in a mix of annoyance and curiosity, as he threw darts at the board. Suddenly, his attention was caught by a girl who was chatting with Ji Hoo in the cafeteria.
"Who is that girl Ji Hoo is flirting with?" Jun Pyo asked, his curiosity piqued.
"I have never seen her before, but she was the one who was in our way this morning," Yi Jung replied, trying to recall if he had ever seen her before.
Curious, Jun Pyo turned to Ga Eul and asked if she knew the girl. Ga Eul nodded her head lightly, indicating that she had met her yesterday.
"She seemed upset about something," Ga Eul explained. "Ji Hoo stole her hairpin and asked me to give her a different one."
Woo Bin, who had been listening to the conversation, chimed in, "What's her name? Her hair looks like those women of a long time ago—super long and flowing." He added, "She looks like a modern-day Rapunzel."
The group continued to speculate about the mysterious girl that Ji Hoo was flirting with, wondering who she was and what her story was.
"This is not like Ji Hoo." Yi Jung remarked. "I have never seen him like this before."
It was around three when Secretary Park took Jan Di to show her the new place where she would be living from now on. "Aren't I going to live here with my grandfather?" she asked Secretary Park.
Secretary Park smiled kindly at Jan Di and replied, "Your grandfather thought it would be best for you to have your own space. This way, you can have some independence while still being close to him." She gestured towards the cozy apartment, assuring Jan Di that it would be a comfortable and safe place for her to call home.
"Will he visit me from time to time?" Jan Di asked, hoping for reassurance that she wouldn't be completely alone.
Secretary Park nodded and said, "Of course, your grandfather will visit you regularly. He wants to make sure you're settling in well, and he'll always be just a phone call away if you need anything."
Jan Di felt a sense of relief knowing that her grandfather would still be a part of her life, even if they weren't living together. "I'm sorry that I have come to rely on him so much." Jan Di whispered to herself, feeling guilty for burdening him with her problems. "We aren't related at all, but he has been more of a family to me than anyone else."
"Your grandfather was once the father of this nation, and when you came into his life, he was going through a fifteen-year torment of his life for abandoning his only relative." Secretary Park replied, his voice filled with emotion. "You brought him joy and purpose again, and he cherishes every moment spent with you. You have become his family, and he would do anything for you."
"OH,"
"Now come and look at your new place!" Secretary Park exclaimed excitedly, leading her toward a beautifully decorated apartment. "Your grandfather wanted to make sure you had a comfortable and welcoming home here. He oversaw every detail to ensure it reflected your personality and brought you happiness." As they entered the apartment, she couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with gratitude for her grandfather's love and Secretary Park's unwavering support.
The first thing that welcomed her to the studio apartment was its coziness from the warm lighting and soft furnishings. The pink and white color scheme added a touch of femininity to the space, making it feel even more inviting. The walls were adorned with framed photographs of cherished memories, highlighting the close bond she shared with her grandfather. The apartment was also filled with small trinkets and mementos that held sentimental value, reminding her of their special moments together.
Then the interior design took her breath away. Although it was one big room, Jan Di couldn't tell because of the glass divider where the queen-sized bed was, and the living area was separated. The glass divider not only added a modern and stylish element to the space but also provided some privacy for the bedroom area. The living area was thoughtfully arranged with comfortable seating and a cozy rug, creating a cozy, and inviting atmosphere for relaxation and entertainment.
"You have the kitchen there," Secretary Park said pointing at the small counter and appliances. The mini fridge was stocked with snacks and beverages, making it convenient for Jan Di to grab a quick bite or enjoy a refreshing drink without having to leave the room. The kitchenette also had a microwave and a coffee maker, ensuring that Jan Di could satisfy her cravings and caffeine needs whenever she desired.
"May I take a look at the bedroom?" Jan Di asked Secretary Park as she walked out of the kitchen.
Secretary Park greeted her with a warm smile and led her toward the bedroom. The bedroom was located just off to the side of the living area, and as they walked towards the room, Jan Di couldn't help but notice the stunning interior design of the apartment.
As they entered the bedroom, Jan Di was struck by the elegance and attention to detail. The queen-sized bed was adorned with plush bedding, and the soft lighting in the room created a warm and inviting atmosphere. The large window in the room allowed natural light to flood in, illuminating the space and highlighting the room's tasteful decor.
The attached bathroom was equally impressive, with its modern shower and luxurious amenities. The dressing mirror was thoughtfully placed on the closet door, providing Jan Di with an ideal spot to check her appearance.
As she walked over to the small seating area by the window, Jan Di couldn't help but feel a sense of calm wash over her. The inviting chairs, with their soft cushions, beckoned her to sit down and relax. She took a deep breath and let her eyes wander around the room, taking in all the delicate touches in the design. The carefully selected artwork that adorned the walls caught her attention, as did the intricate details of the furnishings, from the ornate lamp in the corner to the plush rug that lay on the floor.
As she gazed out the window, she noticed a traditional Korean-style home in the distance. The structure looked sturdy and well-crafted, with a tiled roof and decorative wooden accents. Jan Di couldn't help but wonder who lived in that home and what their story might be. They were a family that had lived in the area for generations, or they were newcomers who had fallen in love with the peaceful countryside and decided to make it their home. Whatever the case may be, Jan Di found herself feeling grateful to be in such a beautiful and serene place.
"Who stays in that home?" she asked, seeing someone with a familiar back frame by the window. "It can't be him," she thought, her heart racing with anticipation.
