This is just an idea I tossed around in my head. It's just a prompt/oneshot honestly. I can't really see myself committing this into a multichapter story.

June hid in what was once the Boston Global she worked at in another life. Though she was safe, she was not free. She held her belly, feeling the innocent life grow inside her as she tried to keep her sanity loneliness brings. Lately, her mind has been filled with traumatic memories Gilead has wrought upon her and her loved ones. With that trauma comes the desire for vengeance, some way to make Gilead pay for the pain they caused.

She sat among the articles of news reports of cultists, mainly the Sons of Jacob. The ones who destroyed America. They were there the whole time, and no one noticed.

"They all should be dead." June whispered under her breath as she glared at the wall of articles she taped up.

"You're right. They should be."

June spun around so fast she almost got a whiplash. A scream escaped her at the sight of the demon standing there. She grabbed the first thing she could throw and launched a chair at it. But he just batted it away like it was some kind of fly.

"What do you want?" June grabbed the axe she keeps close by, ready to fight as she watched the demon fearfully.

"I don't want anything. I'm here for what you want." The demon explained with that disturbing smile.

"Are you the devil?" June demanded, but the creature just laughed. "I am Ryuk. I am what you call a Death God. You see, there have been a lot of deaths in the human world, all in the name of Him. Personally, I don't care who dies. It's just boring. However, I know you want to kill, I see it in your eyes. Though you're not evil, you wish to rid the world of the ones who wronged you and your people." He held up a black book that read 'Death Note' on the cover. "Here you go."

June hesitantly took the book, turning it over before opening it to reveal a list of rules and instructions.

1: The human whose name is written in this note shall die.

2: This note will not take effect unless the writer has the person's face in their mind when writing his/her name. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected.

3: If the cause of death is written within the next 40 seconds of writing the person's name, it will happen. If the cause of death is not specified, the person will simply die of a heart attack.

4: After writing the cause of death, details of the death should be written in the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds.

5: The human whose name is written can be controlled over the duration of two days before death.

June looked up at the Death God with skepticism. "You're saying this will help me kill them?"

"That's right. And you can even write how each of them shall die." Ryuk explained at the woman who lost her fear as she flipped through the pages that were filled with names and the details of their deaths.

"What's the catch?" June asked, not trusting anything, especially a Death God.

"No catch." Ryuk shrugged innocently.

"Bullshit, you wouldn't give something this powerful to anyone unless they gave something in return."

"You're only half-right. You see, I'm quite bored." Ryuk stated as he paced around, looking quite at ease. "I find humans to be quite interesting, entertaining even. They worship a God that represents love and forgiveness but twist Him into something else entirely while killing in His name. I thought it would be fun to give the Death Note to someone who hates Gilead with a passion. I believe you're the right person for the job."

June felt a little flattered that he considered her but kept her guard up. "What's the real price? This kind of power doesn't come cheap."

"That is correct." Ryuk's smile unsettled her, "You see, those who had the Death Note in their possession and have written so many names...their souls neither burn in Hell or enter Heaven for all eternity."

June was silent at his explanation before she examined the book in her hands. She contemplated the possibility, this opportunity to finally get back at Gilead. Would she ever get a chance like this again?

June looked up, "I lost my soul years ago. I'll accept the consequences. Even if I do get sent to Hell, I'll make sure Gilead burns with me." She vowed to Ryuk, unafraid and willing to pay with her soul if it means putting an end to Gilead once and for all.

Ryuk smiled, "So be it. Humans are really interesting."

June smirked as she took the pen closest to her and began writing down the list of names while keeping their faces in her mind.

Warren Putnam was walking beside his fellow Commanders at work when he suddenly clutched his chest in pain and fell to the floor. People rushed to help him, but it was too late. He was gone. All around them, more and more Commanders fell dead from heart attacks.

Naomi sat with the other Wives enjoying tea when her eyes glassed over. "Naomi, what's wrong?" Serena asked when her friend suddenly froze.

Naomi broke the teacup against the table and slit her one throat. The blood spurting out covered everyone as they screamed in fear.

Commander Pryce was in his car smoking a cigar with his fellow Commanders when the vehicle exploded in flames.

Aunt Lydia was escorting the Handmaids, yelling out instructions to the meek women when her eyes glassed over and she stopped moving. The same happened with Aunt Elizabeth and Aunt Ruth. They marched away from the Handmaids and rammed their own faces into the brick walls multiple times until they dropped dead and unrecognizable.

June put down the pen after writing down the names of her oppressors. She flexed her fingers to relieve the aches as she thought of her next strategy. This was only the beginning. She didn't care what became of her soul in the long run as long as she can bring Gilead down. She'll eradicate every Commander, every rapist in the country to restore her homeland to how it was. She'll use every name, every face, to get Hannah out of here and back to her father.

June smirked, her vengeance at the cost of her very soul. It really isn't a bad deal.
