It's true, "The end is just the beginning "...
Genie had the brilliant idea of catalyzing Maleficent's magic, which was in the Scepter, to give it to Mal. It wouldn't solve the whole problem, but it was a start.
While Mal was being cared for, Rashid and Merlin did the painstaking work of analyzing the magical objects to use them to their advantage.
"Jafar's scepter can be manipulated, maybe if we did some of the spells in the Evil Queen's book with it."
Rashid gave Merlin the idea.
"It might work. I think I have something of Madame Mim's that is also usable."
All in all, it took about two hours. Longer than recommended, but there was nothing else to do. There were so many things and spells that it was difficult to list everything they used, but what is important to say is that the Auradon Museum's Gallery of Villains would be empty for a while.
At 11:30 p.m. the counter-spell was cast. As with Agatha, they went to Agrabah. As soon as Rashid had cast the entire source of magic, the consequence arrived.
Apparently he wasn't as neutral as he claimed. His hands began to burn as soon as he started to say the words Merlin had written, but he carried on anyway, even though the burning hurt more than most things and the result... the next day the wizard discovered that his hands would have to be amputated.
" This is what heroes do, right?"
That's all he said when he found out. He felt that after all this disaster, he could overcome anything. Anyway, Agrabah was the first to get rid of the curse. Evie, Jay and Carlos, who had stopped breathing, felt their hearts start beating again.
"Mal, where's Mal?"
Jay asked the others.
"Is it over? Are we alive?"
Carlos asked, still in disbelief.
"Well, I don't feel any more pain at least."
Jay stood up, putting on his old cap.
"Tommy."
Evie said worriedly.
"Ah, you're awake."
Genie appeared, seeing the three of them well again.
"Genie? Are you all right?"
Carlos ran over and hugged the old teacher.
"Hey, calm down, I'm fine. We're fine. But now we have to go to Auradon, and before you ask, Mal is fine, so don't worry."
"Agatha?"
"Dead, apparently she died of her own spell. We'll see about that later. Now, let's go home, guys."
It took a while, but soon all the kingdoms were free of the curses. In time, Chad, Lonnie and all the missing appeared, including Ben. However, it's not all flowers...
"Genie! Fairy Godmother!"
Jay shouted for them both. He was in the room with the unconscious Mal when he saw the girl having strong convulsions.
"What happened?"
The two of them came running into the room worried
"Mal!"
"Get out Jay and don't say anything to Ben yet!"
Fairy Godmother ordered.
"But why?"
"He's just come back. Merlin's with him doing some quick tests."
Genio asked, taking control of the situation.
"What do you think is going on?"
Fairy Godmother asked, wondering what had caused the convulsions.
"I don't know, maybe too much magic for her."
"Too much magic for Mal? I doubt it."
"Mal!? What happened to her?"
Rashid ran towards the little purple girl's room wanting to know.
Information flowed too fast in that place.
"Rashid can't get out of bed yet!"
Genie shouted at him as his wrists were bandaged.
"I don't care! Why is she convulsing?"
He really cared about her.
"We don't know yet. All we did was drain the Scepter's magic for her."
"For how long?"
The man was already thinking about the likely answer and was ready to have a heart attack.
"Since we picked it up at the museum, I think."
Genius replied and at that moment Rashid couldn't believe that he was one of the most powerful beings in existence.
"What? You're stupid!" The man became enraged and ran to the medical device that was in it and when he tried to take it out he remembered his accident. He couldn't pull it out by himself. "Mal's not used to so much fairy magic. She's not like her mother, she's still half human! Get that damn thing off her!" He tried to explain what seemed obvious to him. "A day and a half with Scepter will kill him! Take that thing off now!"
(...)
"What are you planning to do? Ben is dying to know."
Rashid asked Genie and Helena, as they stood outside Mal's room, who was accompanied by the king.
"We don't know yet. We tried to get rid of the excess magic, but nothing happened and we still don't have all our magic."
Genie recalled, still frustrated. It seemed that the problems would never end.
"And they won't even take away all the magic. Maleficent's Scepter is made of magic and by the time they've left it, its magic must have already found Mal's heart. The best thing you can do is tell the truth. Tell Ben and his family."
Rashid spoke and didn't hide his anger at Genie and Fairy Godmother.
"Guys, excuse me, I'm going to get some coffee, can you keep an eye on Mal in case she wakes up?"
Ben left the room, asking the three outsides.
"Sure." Rashid gave a friendly smile and walked over to the woman. "Hey girl, this is Rashi. This is no fun, okay? You have to resist, you have to make your story. You're not a villain, remember? That's nothing, you're Mal, you're not Maleficent, you're not going to let that magic fool you, are you Mal? Fool her, show her you're good, you're our hero and you're far from being a villain. You're a heroine, girl. You defeat monsters, evil fairies and even dead witches. You can't let magic defeat you. Stop being so stubborn and come back here."
The wizard cried, begging whoever it was to take his apprentice back to where she belonged. That's why he hated having feelings and contact with people. Because he risked losing them.

"Should we be worried?"
Helena asked her friends. Mal had just woken up and was with her friends and husband.
"Why?"
Genio was so happy to see the queen awake that he forgot how she was half an hour ago.
"She woke up out of the blue. I don't think that much magic can come out of nowhere."
Fairy Godmother warned them.
"I don't think we should bother them with it now."
She said happily.
(...)
"It's still in me, right?" Mal asked Rashid when it was just the two of them in the room. "I absorbed the magic from the scepter, didn't I?"
"What?"
He hadn't expected her to know that or to talk about the subject that only he, Helena and Genie knew about.
"I'm not stupid, Rashid, just answer me."
She asked worriedly. Mal understood how serious it was to have the magic of her mother's scepter inside her.
"Yes. Not all of it, we've stopped the process, but there's still something in there." She replied, though sad to say it. "Merlin is trying to bring our magic back and as soon as he does, you'll be one hundred percent back. Mal, you shouldn't be sad about that. Magic doesn't make anyone evil or good, that's up to us. Look, you have a family that loves you and a kingdom that needs you."
"Okay, you're right."
It wasn't what she wanted to hear. She didn't want to have it inside her, but it was the only way to save her.
(...)
Three days later
"I don't know if I'm ready."
The king confessed to his wife.
"You are, you just have to clarify what happened."
Mal told him, while straightening her unruly hair. After being released of hospital, she was back on her feet.
Hey, you talk like it's easy. Hey Auradon, we were attacked by a witch and all of your last twenty years have been based on a big lie."
"They don't want to hear that Ben. They just want you to say you'll be fine and I think you can do that. You're their king, go on and rule them."
"What a wise woman I married."
He kissed her.
"Speaking of marriage. I need the ring."
"What?"
"We're not married, remember?"
"I hate that. We'll get "married" soon, okay?"
He handed the ring back to her.
"Come on, my king."
She gave him a kiss before he went on to make his official pronouncement.
"Auradon, we've been through some difficult days and we certainly didn't deserve to go through all this. My family and I have been imprisoned all this time." He couldn't tell us about Pixie Hollow. "Our Lady Mal was the one who joined forces to defeat a powerful witch. We still have a lot to live for, Auradon is our home, we must be grateful to be alive and we will fight for everything to be normal. I promise that everything will be normal soon. Calmly, you will hear all about it and all the other provinces, we will do everything possible and impossible for you. Everything will be fine..."
He smiled and hugged his future queen.
"I love you."
He confessed.
"Everything will go back to normal, because we're together and we love each other and no spell can put an end to that."
"Is that a promise Benjamin?"
"That's what it sounds like Mal Bertha Faery. I promise you, nothing will separate me from you."
"And I promise you, I won't let anything take me away from you."
You didn't think this was the end of the story did you?
Next season...
2 years later
The years passed and it seemed that the woman didn't know old age. Although she didn't look her best in her twenties, no one would ever guess her real age. She was singing one of her songs and walking through the dirty streets of the island, catching the eyes of the men wherever she went.
"Good to see you, Gothel."
The man at the pub said the traditional goodnight.
"Good evening, sir."
She said with her traditional smile.
"The usual?" He asked, handing her glass. "How's your daughter?"
"She's no longer here, she's gone to Ciderelabug, that ingrate."
"I hear you retired from Dragon Hall."
"That island takes gossip too fast for me, but that place has tired my beauty."
"As if that were possible, isn't it?"
"Come on, I want some news. I haven't heard anything new in ages."
"Don't you know what everyone on the island is talking about?"
"No, what would that be?"
"The king and queen will have an heir."
"How?"
She asked incredulously.
" Yes, it seems that Mal will have a son. Can you imagine what Maleficent would think if she knew that?"
"She's still a lizard, she wouldn't think anything."
"Think about it Gothel, in our times it was impossible to imagine a villain marrying a prince. And the villain is still the son of the Dark Queen."
The drunken man burst out laughing.
"Indeed, an heir..." She smiled again "Gentleman, it's about time, you know it's not time for a lady to be out of the house."
"Until next time, Gothel."
The man's news made the woman smile wider than when she found an old skin cream. It was music to her ears, but it seemed that only she understood how the news would change the course of the world.
Leaving, she walked back towards her old job.
"Good night, my pretty." She stroked the huge spider that guarded Dragon Hall's secret library. "I've come for a book." She talked to the spider as she walked through the corridors. "Found it." She took the book and walked off "I think it's time I visited Auradon."
