Author's Notes
How are you doing, my dear readers? I am great now that I can finally finish this chapter. This episode took me a long time to write for lack of inspiration and motivation, but these last few days I was in a good mood and I was able to continue writing.
Before we start, we are going to respond to the constant reviews of each chapter.
ZNBT: The alleged Indiana Jones scene was not a reference. I haven't really seen the franchise.
Guest 1138: And the surprises don't end there, my friend. The plot of the mole takes depth in this chapter. Karma always comes, it just takes some time for some, but it always comes.
Total Drama: Enchanted
Chapter 21 - Knockout Race
Karen was at the secret base, attending to their victory strategy. She was rearranging the photos of the remaining contestants, and was pasting them on the board. Of course, there were setbacks, and there are details that were not planned, but now she has been able to put her priorities in order, and she has already marked her next target.
She hears the door open and assumes that it is her ally / henchman who is waiting for further orders, but having seen the information about the next challenge, she assumes that no intervention will be necessary again.
"Good morning, Tony" she greets, without turning to see the person who entered. "Your intervention is not necessary today, so you can ..."
"If you needed an ally so bad, you could have contacted me."
Karen freezes upon hearing a familiar distorted voice, and quickly turns her head, realizing that the person who walked in was not Tony, but someone she didn't think she would see again so soon.
The Hood.
"You…" Karen muttered nervously. "What are you doing here?"
"I've been watching your progress, and you really surprise me, girl" spoke the hooded guy. "However, I am here to warn you that you are making a serious mistake in dealing with that alien."
"And what do you care about that?"
"I care when the situation gets out of our control."
"If I remember correctly, you just ordered me to get the grand prize, and that's it."
"Yes, I ordered you to do the job, and to do it well" explained the hooded guy. "Not that you did business with an alien, or dealt with a demon, or caused a zombie apocalypse."
"If I want to win this contest, then I must do what it takes to survive," she explained. "Besides, everything works out in the end. I have everything under control ..."
"What…"
The hooded guy holds Karen by the cheeks, forcing her to look into his hooded eyes.
"… did I told you?"
"... Don't screw things up ..."
"Very good ... And what was going on all season?"
"... I screwed up some things ..."
The hooded guy lets go of Karen's face, letting her compose herself, as the guy continued talking.
"You should be grateful that I got you a chance with this show, but now you're on the tightrope, with an alien waiting for you to deliver a device that he can use to conquer the entire world. That was not part of the plan."
"Tony is just a giant insect with a brain the size of a normal one" she snorted. "The fool has no idea that I'm just using it. I have everything under control."
"Remember our deal, girl" said the hooded guy then. "This will be your last job. Once you finish this game, you will be free, but if you fail… I don't need to remind you what will happen to you, right?"
Karen shudders to have to remember the "punishment" she would receive if she failed to keep the deal.
"I will not fail ... I swear."
"Alright, I'll see you then"
And with that said, the hooded guy walks away the way he came, leaving no trace of his presence.
Once the guy was gone, Karen collapsed into her chair, bringing one hand to her forehead and the other to her chest as she took a deep breath, trying to calm her heart that was pounding with nerves.
"Just a few more days and this nightmare will finally be over."
All seven contestants were present in the dining room, trying to enjoy some burnt sausages from Chef Hatchet. Although there was still a bit of tension in the air, it was no longer as dense as days ago.
"Everything feels calmer and safer now that Hunter is gone," Raymond commented.
"Definitely" agreed Pearl. "We should have voted for him long ago."
"We tried, but that didn't work out," Felix commented. "Do you remember the first removal ceremony for the Rabid Rabbits?"
"Oh yeah" Karen said. "At the last second, Erika had to leave because she received a letter from her parents who were sick."
"That time it was just a stroke of luck for him," said Otis, whose nose is still sore, but it's better now.
"Are you sure that was real?" Pearl then asked. "Don't you think… it was a hoax?"
"I really don't care" said Felix. "She is competition, and my job is to crush the competition."
"But… isn't that very strange to you?" Pearl continued. "It is too much of a coincidence that, within days of coming, Erika's parents told her that they were seriously ill."
"Jeez, Pearl" Karen frowned. "Are you implying that this could all be a hoax? It is very cruel of you to be taking an illness as a joke."
"That's very bad of you, Pearl," Ginger agreed.
Raymond and Felix nodded in agreement with Karen.
Confessional
Pearl - "Ugh, I can't believe everyone is falling for Karen's tricks like that. She has to fall ... and she will!"
"Listen worms! It's time for much pain, suffering, tears, and torture!" Chef Hatchet's voice exclaimed over the speakers. "Meet at 800 hours on the beach for today's challenge! That means NOW!"
The seven contestants gulped, fearful to know what awaits them with their not-so-beloved Chef Hatchet.
They were all present on the beach. There they found Chef Hatchet wearing his classic military outfit, scowling at the contestants.
"Uhm… where is Chris?" Pearl asked.
"It's not your problem knowing where Chris is!" Chef exclaimed. "Today I'm in charge, and I'm going to make sure all of you have broken bones by the end of the day."
After that, Chef takes out a remote control and presses a button. An earthquake shakes the area, and several huge platforms emerge from the water with different types of elements that you would find in a construction, such as construction beams, saws, drills, hammers, mixers, and wrecking balls.
"Listen very carefully because I'll only say it once!" Chef yelled at them. "Today's challenge is an obstacle course! You will have to overcome all the stages and reach the finish line to earn immunity!"
The following scenes show all the 10 stages that this obstacle course contains.
"I have named the challenge King of the Mountain" said Chef. "To reach the goal, you must cross the following areas full of deadly obstacles."
"First is the Conveyor Slayer"
The first stage consisted of three separate conveyor belts, the two at the ends going forward, and the middle one going backward. On these are some hydraulic crushing machines that are intended to crush anyone who crosses this area.
"Then there is the Re-Mixer"
The second stage is a slime-filled mixer, followed by a small slide that leads to the next stage, but the slime goes down the corridor and is extremely slippery.
"Then there is the Ball & Chain"
The third stage consists of several small pillars where you must jump to cross, but in the middle of all this is a wrecking ball that will knock down anyone who crosses that area.
"These are followed by the Hammerheads"
The fourth stage is a straight path of platforms where you must also jump, but on top of all these there are giant hammers that will crush the platform once someone steps on them.
"Then they must cross the See Saw"
The fifth stage is another straight path but one that is full of axes, drills, and rotary saws that move from side to side.
"Next comes the Flameraiser"
The sixth stage is a strange wide, clean path, but dangerous streams of fire erupt from the ground in random locations, making them unpredictable.
"After that you guys face the Hit Parade"
The seventh stage consisted of a slippery slime-filled path, with electric poles constantly moving from one corner to another.
"Next: the Fruit Chute"
The eighth stage was a huge conveyor belt that went in reverse, with several ball cannons that shot fruit at anything moving down that path.
"Penultimate comes the Tip Toe"
The ninth stage was a huge space of small square platforms, but you must be careful not to take a wrong step, because there is only one correct path.
"And for the end: Loose Screws"
The tenth and final stage consisted basically of supposedly harmless turntables. At the end of this last stage there is a platform with a red button in the center.
"Your mission is to reach the finish line and press the red button at the end!" Chef Hatchet explained. "Whoever pushes the button first gets immunity!"
All seven contestants were paralyzed with horror and gulped, except for Raymond, who just smiled in enthusiasm.
Confessional
Karen - "These are those rare moments where I really miss Chris."
Felix - "Once I am free from this show, I will go directly to sue the producers."
Raymond - "This challenge reminds me of a television show that was also a deadly obstacle course. I always wanted to go participate, but I could not because that had an age restriction, and they did not allow a 6-year-old boy to participate."
"What happens if we fall into the water?" Ginger asked, pointing to the platforms with no walls or rails, which left them free falling into the water.
"Well then you must start from the beginning!" roared Chef. "And if you get hurt when you fall, don't worry, as our beloved pets kindly offered to take care of you."
After saying that, Fang and Scuba Bear poke their heads out of the water, and greet the contestants with wicked, sharp-toothed smiles.
"My orders are to make sure that you all give your last breath!" Chef exclaimed through a megaphone. "This challenge doesn't end until one of you presses that button, or until only one is left alive! ... Whichever comes first!"
All seven contestants were on the starting line, ready to begin today's challenge.
"Seven contestants! An obstacle course! Only one winner!" exclaimed Chef Hatchet. "Are you all ready ?!"
"Yes, Master Chef!" the seven contestants exclaimed in response.
"On your marks! … Set!"
Otis and Pearl nod to each other. Karen smiles at Ginger, who responds in kind. Felix had a serious piercing gaze, determined to crush the competition. Raymond had an excited smile. Lucas didn't understand what was happening.
"RUN, SOLDIERS, RUN!"
The seven contestants started the race, each climbing a ladder that takes them to the first zone. Chef Hatchet smirks at the sight of them running, but then turns to find Lucas still at the starting line.
"What are you waiting for, soldier?" roared Chef with a frown.
"You never said Go" Lucas replied. "It's supposed to be: On your marks, get set, go."
Chef Hatchet places his megaphone at full level right in the boy's face and yell at the top of his lungs:
"GO!"
Lucas, who didn't seem really affected by the thunderous scream, ran with the others and up the stairs.
"You seem to have it under control, huh?"
Chef turns to see Chris, who had arrived with a milkshake in his hand.
"Where have you been?" asked Chef. "I had to take over today, and you know how much I hate dealing with pesky teenagers."
"You've been complaining lately that you didn't have a leading role this season, so I took off so you could have your moment," Chris explained. "Also, I was chatting with the producers and our beloved hooded infiltrator. It seems that the deal is going great. If all goes well, they will renew the franchise for another season."
"Great," wailed Chef. "More people to hate".
Chris and Chef laugh wildly, as they sit on some loungers to enjoy the challenge.
All seven contestants made it to the Conveyor Slayer and began running down the conveyor belts, avoiding being crushed by the hydraulic presses. Pearl runs down a forward conveyor belt, but is then pushed by Karen onto the other belt.
"So long, sucker!" the one in the purple dress yelled at her, before running off.
Pearl falls onto the other conveyor belt going in reverse, and sees that it was under a hydraulic press, ready to crush it. She screams in horror and covers herself, waiting to be crushed, but then she hears a noise from a jammed machine.
She opens her eyes to find Otis holding the hydraulic press in his hands, making an inhuman effort to keep it from coming down, but he couldn't be there forever. Pearl rushes out of there, and Otis drops the machine and sighs in exhaustion.
"Thank you very much Otis" Pearl smiled, going to hug him.
"Yeah sure" Otis said as he pushed her away, as they both continued their race.
"Now that we're alone…" Pearl continued. "What is our next plan?"
Otis puts a hand to his chin as he thinks of a plan. "I think we can vote for Karen now. We only need four votes."
"And where do we get the votes from?" Pearl asked, as they both managed to get past the conveyor belts without much trouble.
"Now that Hunter is gone, we can convince Lucas, and with him we get Raymond's vote as well," Otis explained.
"Then we just have to prevent her from getting immunity" Pearl smiled. "That will be easy."
Meanwhile, Raymond and Felix ran along the outer belts, sliding under the hydraulic presses with great skill and dexterity, almost as if they were both competing with each other.
"Bite my dust, businessman!" Raymond yelled at him, as he pulled out his skates to move faster.
"That is not allowed!" Felix exclaimed with a frown.
They both make it to the end of the first zone without a problem, when they stop to discuss the rules.
"What do you mean it's not allowed?" Raymond questioned.
"You can't use those skates," Felix explained, pulling out his rule book. "Section 5, Paragraph 3. Challenges: In the case of a running challenge, contestants will be strictly prohibited from using objects that grant greater mobility over others, such as skateboards, roller blades, bicycles, etc."
"But I wore my skates in the first episode, and you said absolutely nothing about it!" Raymond testified.
Felix just shrugs his shoulders with a cruel smile. "Better take them off if you don't want to receive a penalty."
"Ugh, alright," the skater groaned, as he tucked his skates back on his calves.
Confessional
Raymond - "It's obvious that Felix only uses the rules when it suits him. I'm pretty sure he made up that rule just to put me at a disadvantage."
Felix - "As I explained a few days ago, I am free to create false rules. As long as they do not take a look at the regulations, they cannot testify anything."
They all manage to get to the next area: the Re-Mixer. The slime-filled mixing machine spun at full speed, while the purple substance churned inside.
"So… who goes first?" Ginger asked.
"Ladies first," Felix said, pushing Pearl into the mixer without remorse.
"Hey! What's your problem?" Otis growled at him, glaring at him.
"You are all my problem," Felix said, before smiling sadistically. "One by one I will take down all of you until I can crown myself as the definitive champion of this show."
"Above my corpse" Otis said with a mocking smile.
"With pleasure!" Felix smiled.
Everyone saw Pearl come out of the mixer totally dizzy and slide down the slime slide. However, Pearl didn't stop at the end of the slide, as she was still sliding across the floor thanks to being covered in slime. In the end, she wipes the drool out of her eyes and sees that she was a few feet from falling off the platform.
Pearl reacts quickly and grabs onto the edge of the platform, but the slime was too slippery, causing it to loosen and fall into the water.
SPLASH!
"Pearl has fallen into the water!" Chris announced with his megaphone.
Pearl pops her head to the surface when she sees a shark fin rotating around her. She screams and swims towards a nearby pole so she is not at his mercy.
The other contestants rush through the mixer one at a time. Thanks to Pearl's example, others already know how to avoid falling into the water.
"Are you okay, Pearl?" Otis yelled, seeing her partner in the water.
"Forget about me, Otis!" Pearl said as she swam to shore for her safety. "You focus on gaining immunity!"
Otis nods, as he follows all the contestants into the next area: the Ball & Chain.
Without waiting for anyone, Raymond is the first to launch himself towards the small platforms, while the wrecking ball rotated around them, controlled by an intern, with the intention of knocking down anyone who dares to cross.
The skater jumps on the platforms without much problem, but the slime on his body causes his steps to become slippery. In the end, when he was close to achieving it, his shoes slip and he fell from there
SPLASH!
"Raymond falls into the water too!" Chris announced.
"This slime will become a nuisance" Felix commented after seeing Raymond's stumble and trying to remove the purple substance from his fancy clothes.
Karen takes Ginger and leads her to a corner for privacy. "Ginger, help me cross this area."
"How?" the girl asked.
"You go one way, while I go the other" Karen explained. "That wrecking ball can only chase one at a time."
"So… I just let the wrecking ball hit me while you come out unscathed?"
"Basically" she shrugs.
Confessional
Ginger - "Since I was little, they have taught me that nobody cares what I think and that if I want to have friends then I must do everything they tell me without questioning anything. I don't want to disappoint my only friend left in this show."
Karen and Ginger launch themselves onto the platforms in different directions. The intern who controlled the machine focused his attention first on Ginger, and moved some levers to make the machine turn toward her.
Ginger was jumping on the platforms with no problem, but then the wrecking ball hits her hard, sending her flying towards the beach.
"What a blow Ginger got!" Chris said with her megaphone, watching the girl fall into the sand next to her.
Karen takes advantage and manages to cross the platforms without the risk of being hit by the wrecking ball, reaching the next area.
Meanwhile, Felix and Otis are launched at the same time towards the platforms, but then the wrecking ball appears on them.
Felix smiles as he stops on a platform, before deftly ducking back, letting the ball roll over him, as he steps forward to gain the upper hand.
Otis manages to jump on the platforms until he sees the wrecking ball. He smiles and rubs his hands before putting them in front. With his strength, he manages to catch the ball with effort, which pushes him back on another platform, but manages to stop the machine. He lifts the ball with great effort due to how heavy it is and the beads of sweat trickled down his forehead. With a battle cry, he throws it at the machine. The intern yells and jumps into the water, as the wrecking ball hits the machine, causing it to fail and shut down.
Confessional
Otis - "This is how we do it in my family: with a strong hand and a lot of hard effort".
Felix - "Now I see that I have underestimated Otis's strength. Now that Hunter is gone, that mechanic is my next target to beat."
After witnessing Otis's feat, Karen meets Felix at the gates to the next area.
"Felix, I'd like to talk to you" she said, receiving the tycoon's attention. "How about an alliance to vote for Otis ..."
"I'm in" Felix replied directly.
"Excellent" she smiled. "I already have Ginger's vote, and with one more we can meet our goals."
"I'll take care of that" said Felix.
Confessional
Karen - "Now that Hunter is no longer here, everyone needs a new target, and Otis is that target."
Now that the wrecking ball was no longer working, the contestants manage to cross the area without much trouble and reach the next area: the Hammerheads. By this point, the contestants who had fallen earlier: Pearl, Raymond, and Ginger, had already caught up with them after they had crossed the zones again.
"You have this dear" Karen said to Ginger while winking at her.
"Ok…" Ginger muttered, as she advanced to the front to start running. She sees the hammers crushing the platforms they must cross to get to the next area.
After the hammers are lifted, Ginger jumps onto the first platform, but a surprise hammer out of nowhere crushes her and throws her into the water.
"In war you must be prepared for anything, soldier!" Chef yelled through the megaphone.
The hammer rises, and Raymond takes the opportunity to advance, jumping from each platform, as the hammers fall behind him. He manages to reach the final jump, but then something similar happens with another surprise hammer crushing him and throwing him into the water.
"You worms would work better as cannon fodder!" roared Chef Hatchet.
After several failed attempts, with several shots of the contestants being brutally crushed, many taunts from the hosts, and having understood the pattern of the hammers, they all manage to cross the platforms and avoid being crushed again.
In the end they all reach the next area: the See Saw. Everyone is horrified by the saws, drills, and axes that move and fall everywhere. Again it is Raymond who takes the initiative and starts running. The skater manages to evade most of the saws and slides under the axes that graze his chest.
However, before reaching the end, he does not pay attention to a saw that rips all his clothes to pieces, leaving him completely naked. Raymond blushes as he covers his private parts and jumps into the water. Fang and Diving Bear didn't bother chasing after him because they were too busy mocking and laughing at the skater.
"You don't have to be ashamed, soldier!" Chef Hatchet told him.
The others manage to cross. Otis runs away from the mountain ranges and is patient to cross for the axes. Ginger runs in a straight line and the axes brush right behind her. Karen follows the same path as Ginger, although she is the victim of one or another cut. Felix shows his athleticism again and skillfully evades all the saws. Pearl also proves to be quite athletic in dodging some saws, but she is also the victim of cuts.
Confessional
Pearl - "I'm one of the best players in sports class and I'm quite athletic. I'm not at the level of other competitors like Felix, but they shouldn't underestimate me."
Felix - "I am surprised that some losers without real skills like Ginger and Lucas managed to get to this point, but now that they are here, I would not mind taking one of them to the finale. I could easily destroy anyone who is in front of me ".
Ginger - "I'm starting to reconsider my friendship with Karen."
The contestants arrive partially unscathed at the Flameraiser. Flames explode all over the ground in the area. Any step could leave them toasty ... literally.
"I like the extreme and the action, but it's someone else's turn to go first," Raymond said.
"Time to shine, friend" Karen told Ginger.
Ginger just sighs and forces a smile, as she sprints across the flamethrower ground.
While that happens, Felix takes advantage and takes Raymond to an isolated area to chat.
"Raymond, I know we had a few little squabbles, but I would like to resume our alliance of boys one last time" Felix spoke elegantly.
"What about Lucas?" asked the skater.
"After you cruelly pushed him out of a tree to his humiliating defeat, I highly doubt that he wants to cooperate with you again" Felix explained with a smile. "This alliance will be to vote for Otis tonight."
"And why should I vote for him and not you?" Raymond crosses his arms.
Felix couldn't help but laugh. "You don't have the votes. Everyone else already has a target, and that target is you."
Raymond frowns. "Why would they target me?"
"After what you did to Lucas, everyone has a bad opinion of you and they assume that you could be the mole" explained Felix. "However, I can save you from that deadly slingshot, but for that you must listen to me."
Raymond just groans loudly and shrugs. "Ok, I'll vote for Otis tonight."
"Excellent!" Felix smiled, changing his face in an unsuspecting way.
Confessional
Raymond - "I'm worried about Felix's sudden mood swings. He should relax a bit."
Karen - "I have Ginger, Felix, and Raymond on my side… Otis, you're doomed."
The contestants see Ginger running through the flames, as they explode around her like a minefield. However, luck smiles on her this time, as the girl was able to cross the area without being hit even once.
The others pluck up their courage and start to cross, but then a gigantic flame explodes behind them, causing them to scream and run in all directions.
The image only shows Ginger, witnessing all the mayhem, as she winces differently with each explosion that is heard followed by screams of pain and suffering. She even decides to cover her eyes, and then spread her fingers and continue to slyly see. After a full minute of torture, the other contestants manage to cross, their bodies completely charred and burned.
"We did it!" Pearl groaned, trying to raise a hand in celebration, but couldn't because of the pain.
They all advance to the next area: the Hit Parade. Slime spills from the other end, while electrified poles sway from side to side.
"I'll take care of this" smiled Raymond, jumping towards the slime, but instead of slipping and falling, he managed to keep his balance and began to skate on the slime without much difficulty, avoiding all the posts and reaching the other end easily.
"My turn!" Ginger grinned, jumping into the slime, but it slipped and fell to the ground. However, she glides across the ground in a straight line, reaching the other end without being hit.
"Who's next?" Otis asked.
Karen grabs Pearl's arm and pushes her onto the slime path. Pearl frowns and grabs her arm as well, bringing her with her to the road. They both start to run, but they keep bumping each other, causing them both to slip and fall, both colliding against posts, electrocuting them in the process.
Felix taunts them while skating gracefully on the slime. "See you later, ladies."
But then Felix is pushed away by Otis, who just dove for the slime and skate straight like Ginger. He pushed Felix aside, causing him to slip and touch an electrified pole.
"See you when you fail, pompous boy!"
Confessional
Felix - "Who does Otis think he is? Pushing someone of a higher status? And above all ... PUSHING ME?"
The contestants manage to cross the slime path, although Pearl, Karen, and Felix suffered from constant shocks. They all advance to the next area: the Fruit Chute. The huge conveyor belt began to roll backwards into a free fall into the water, and all six fruit cannons were in position.
This time, everyone started running down the conveyor belt. The cannons began to shoot fruit everywhere. Ginger is the first to be shot, when an apple hits her in the face, leaving her at the mercy of the conveyor belt.
Karen tries to use Ginger's fainted body as a human shield, but the cannons fire in all directions, rendering her human shield useless and she, too, falls into the water.
Felix tries to keep up with the rhythm and dodges the shots, but the closer he got to the safe zone, the cannons increased their speed in the shots, making the blond man unable to continue and fell defeated.
Pearl was trying to crouch, moving slowly and safely, but the guns did not appreciate this and fired her at point-blank range.
Otis and Raymond were the only ones who could advance without taking much damage. The skater took out a hockey stick again, taking advantage of the fact that Felix was not there to scold him, and began to bat the fruit back into the cannons. The mechanic proved to be quite resistant, taking full shots, as well as hitting some fruits with his fists, smashing them.
In the end, the two of them were the only ones who managed to make it to the end.
"The first arrivals!" Raymond smiled, exclaiming his classic phrase "COWABUNGA!"
"Uhm… we're not the first" Otis commented with an incredulous expression, pointing to something next to them. Looking in the direction indicated, Raymond is stunned.
Lucas was standing there, as if he had been waiting for them for a long time.
"Lucas! When did you get here?" Raymond asked, not leaving his incredulous expression.
"I got here a few minutes ago" Lucas said. "I stopped here to take a break. I must confess that I'm pretty lazy."
"When did you cross all the obstacles?" Otis asked. "And how come you are totally unscathed?"
"Well…"
A quick montage of Lucas is shown crossing every zone of the race, but ironically, he tripped over every obstacle there was.
He was constantly crushed by hydraulic presses.
He was drenched in slime and slid onto the wrecking ball that hit him hard into the next area.
He was crushed by every giant hammer, but somehow it didn't fall into the water.
He was hit by axes that catapulted him into the next area.
He was cremated as soon as he set foot on the ground and ran straight to the next area as his body burned in flames.
He was electrocuted by each pole as he used them to hold onto the slippery ground.
He was hit by all kinds of fruits, but he was unfazed as he ate some as a snack.
The most surprising thing about all this, is that Lucas showed no signs of pain or suffering, as if all those traps could not hurt him, or as if Lucas could not feel pain.
Confessional
Raymond - "Now that I remember, Lucas has never shown any signs of harm all season. Every injury or torture he suffered, he never screamed or groaned in pain. He crossed a whole minefield unharmed; he was also under the water for half an hour without breathing, withstood every crash in the demolition race, and now crossed the entire obstacle course without flinching ... "
Lucas - "I always get hit, kick, cuts, electrocutions, burns, falls, bites ... I guess I've gotten into the habit".
Otis - "The brain helps to react to any situation, including pain. I suppose that since Lucas has no brain, he does not react or flinch from pain ... That's pretty impressive, I must say."
The three contestants reach the penultimate zone of the obstacle course: the Tip Toe. In front of them was a whole base filled with small square tiles joined together, forming a clean path.
"See you at the finish line" said Lucas, launching himself to run across the tiles, but when he set foot on the first one, it broke and Lucas stumbled, but before falling, Raymond caught him by the arm and lifted him to the platform.
"We have to be careful here," Raymond explained. "Chef said there is only one safe path, and the others are false."
"I have an idea," Otis said, reaching for something in his tool bag.
"Why do you always carry that tool bag everywhere?" Raymond asked.
"For the same reason that you always carry that hockey stick around" Otis replied.
"Touché" he smiled
After a few more seconds of searching, Otis pulls out something that he thinks will help: a small bag of marbles.
"Candies!" Lucas smiled with joy.
"They are not candy; they are marbles" Otis explained. "Raymond ..."
"I understand your plan" smiled the skater.
Raymond takes the bag of marbles and tosses it into the air, before hitting it with his hockey stick. The bag explodes and the marbles shoot out in all directions, hitting several tiles in the process. Some tiles break and fall, while others remain intact, revealing the correct path.
"Well thought out, friend!" Raymond said, starting to move up the road.
Lucas was about to follow him, but is stopped by Otis, who grabs his shoulder.
"Hey Lucas, who are you planning to vote for tonight?"
"I don't know" Lucas replied. "Karen told me before to vote for you, but I don't know what to think after hearing you say she was evil."
"Wait a second ... did you hear me and Pearl in the dining room that time?"
Lucas nods his head. "Is it true that Karen is evil?"
"Yes!" Otis responded quickly, before continuing. "She has orchestrated several of the eliminations, and at any moment she will come for you."
"Why me?" Lucas sobbed. "I did everything she asked of me all season."
Otis is confused by what has been said. "What do you mean by that?"
"I was obeying every order he gave me" explained Lucas. "He ordered me to vote for Nigel, to help him take down Maggie, and many other things, and in return he would give me his desserts from dinner each night."
"Well, let me tell you, she only used you because she's evil. Who else would be friends with Hunter?" Otis smiled mischievously.
Lucas gasps in horror. "Is she friends with Hunter?"
"That's right," Otis said dramatically. "She was working with Hunter all this time, and now that he is gone, she will make you suffer for throwing her friend ... I would get rid of her immediately if I were you."
"I can't believe it! She IS evil!"
However, despite the distance, Raymond managed to hear them and winced in confusion.
Confessional
Otis - "Technically, that was not a lie, since Karen had allied with Hunter. At least now I have Lucas on my side, and for sure he will convince Raymond later."
Raymond - "That was pretty weird. It was quite noticeable that Otis just convinced Lucas to vote alongside him ... but for Karen? This has gotten quite confusing. Felix wants me to vote for Otis, and Otis wants to vote for Karen ... You know what? I'm not going to be manipulated by any of them. I already have my vote decided, and let's see how things turn out in the end."
The three boys reach the end zone: the Loose Screws. To their surprise, this seemed to be the easiest stage of the entire obstacle course, as it was just totally harmless turntables.
"Looks like we have our three remaining contestants in the final stage!" Chris announced with his megaphone. "One more obstacle and they will win!"
The other contestants had decided to waive the race and immunity and stayed with the hosts to enjoy the event. They supported the three remaining runners, but there was one who would not sit idly by.
"You can do it, Otis!" Pearl encouraged him.
"Show who is the best, Raymond!" Felix ordered him.
"Come on Lucas!" Ginger yelled at him.
"Not if I can help it" Karen muttered, stepping away from the group and pulling out a remote control. She presses all the available buttons.
The three runners watch in horror as all kinds of traps are activated throughout the area. Giant hammers, wrecking balls, spinning saws, flamethrowers, and the platforms spin faster.
"Cool" smiled Raymond.
"The things I have to do for immunity" Otis commented, positioning himself on the last starting line.
Otis does a quick visual analysis of the area, studying the patterns and movements of the deadly machines. He gets serious ... and runs.
The mechanic jumps onto the first platform, before straightening up, as two saws fly ahead and behind him, narrowly avoiding them. He then jumps onto the next one, falling on his belly to avoid being hit by a hammer, but then the platform spins at full speed, catapulting Otis into a wrecking ball. He manages to hold on to it, and launches himself towards another platform, dodging a few shots from flamethrowers and landing on another platform that was constantly rising and falling.
He jumps up quickly, dodging a saw that shot toward his ankles, as he continues to jump across other platforms, various hammers and wrecking balls flying everywhere. Otis had reached the last platform, but the distance for this last jump was greater than usual.
He searches with his eyes for a solution, but then he found it in the form of a hammer coming from behind. He smiles and jumps towards the hammer, holding onto it and using it to gain momentum and leap towards the goal. The mechanic almost fell, but managed to hold on with one hand and stood up. Otis had done it!
"Piece of cake" commented the mechanic with a confident smile.
"End of track, loser" Karen commented with a wicked smile, pressing another button.
SPRING!
A spring-loaded trap is activated, sending Otis flying into the air and crashing into the water.
"So close and so far! Otis is out!" Chris announced. "Can Raymond and Lucas pull it off?"
Otis swims to the beach while growling and grumbling in disdain. As he did so, Chris couldn't help but be curious about one thing.
"Hey! Where are our marine killer pets?"
A few minutes ago, Fang and Scuba Bear were pacing through the water, waiting for their next victim to fall to make it their dinner, but while they waited, they heard a thunderous roar that gives them goose bumps.
They both turn slowly and see a giant yellow eye looking directly at them. The eye belonged to a giant purple squid with green fins and tentacles, and was at least five times the size of the mutant shark and robot bear. The squid lets out another thunderous roar, threatening to devour them in one bite.
Fang and Scuba Bear make noises of horror and swim at full speed away from the creature, which radiates a green light and disappears as if by magic.
Raymond is next in line and takes position at the starting line. After a minute of analyzing the area, and thinking of all the stunts he could do, he runs with a shout:
"COWABUNGA!"
Raymond jumps onto the first platform, sliding under a flying saw that threatened to slice him open. The skater slides and catches the next platform with his hand and swings to the next with a cartwheel to avoid a flamethrower.
He lands on the next platform, and sees a hammer falling towards him, but he jumps and clings to it, using it to get higher and jump further, and so on he used the hammers and wrecking balls as his platforms, while He did all kinds of tricks and stunts in the air for fun, until he landed on the finish line in the safe zone. He had done it!
"Alright Lucas! It's your turn!" Raymond called him. "You should just…!"
At that time, he watches Lucas, incredulous, jump straight into the area. The image only shows Raymond making expressions of pain as he watches his friend get hit by every trap that was present in the area. After a while, Lucas lands loudly next to him, totally covered in scrapes, burns and wounds, but the boy was not affected.
"Perfect landing!" Lucas smiled.
"I… won't say anything" said Raymond simply.
Confessional
Felix - "Hm, it seems I have also underestimated Lucas and his tolerance for pain. That could be a problem in the future ... However, it is not a real danger. Lucas is just so dumb that he doesn't understand the meaning of pain."
Raymond and Lucas were together on the final platform, and in front of them was the red button that assured them a safe night without the risk of being eliminated. However, only one of them can claim immunity.
"Go ahead, pal" Raymond said then. "It's all yours".
"Me? You crossed that area before me" Lucas said, offering the button to his friend.
"You also crossed the area without being hurt" replied the skater, although noticing the scratches that the other boy had. "Besides, I took your immunity off a few days ago, and I'm going to make it up to you. Do it, you earned it."
"Are you sure?" Lucas asked concerned.
"Yes, very sure" replied Raymond.
"Totally sure?"
"Yes, totally sure"
"Are you TOTALLY sure?"
"Lucas, do it now!" he was already losing patience.
"Ok, if you say so".
At that time, something happens that shocks everyone: Lucas pushes Raymond back into the danger zone.
Everyone watches in horror as Raymond is the victim of all possible cuts, burns, hard blows, and mutilations, all while hearing screams of pain, agony and suffering.
"You said you were fine with that!" Lucas claimed, finally pressing the button.
"Lucas gets immunity!" Chris announced, having witnessed the torture Raymond went through with a smile. "He's safe tonight and can't be voted on! Everyone else is going to cast your votes! See you tonight!"
Confessional
Lucas - "Raymond said to do the same thing from last time to make up for it. He had pushed me off the tree, so I pushed him off the platform. I thought it was fair."
The contestants had appeared at the elimination ceremony after having passed through the confessional to cast their votes. Otis and Pearl nodded, convinced of their strategy to vote for Karen, who was plotting with Felix to do the same with Otis. The only one not present was Raymond, who was being cared for by Nurse Hatchet.
"Contestants, I must confess that this day has been one of the best I have had in my life" spoke Chris. "I did some nice business, and I saw you guys get beaten up and suffer hard. What more can I ask for?"
"That you throw out another loser so that I can go satisfied" answered Felix.
"You read my mind, Felix" Chris smiled, pulling out a sheet of paper. "The votes have been counted, and we had a situation rarely seen in this show. For your understanding, this time I will count the votes, to add suspense to the scene."
The contestants were nervous. Pearl and Otis scowl at Karen and Felix, and vice versa. Ginger and Lucas were only in the middle, cowering with tension.
"Let's see ... we have a vote for Otis"
...

"A vote for Karen"

"A second for Otis"

"A second for Karen"

"A third for Karen"

"A third for Otis"
Otis and Karen had goose bumps, anxiously awaiting the outcome.
"And the last vote goes to…"

"Felix! It's a tie!"
"NO!" they all exclaimed at the same time.
"So… what now?" Ginger asked. "A tiebreaker challenge?"
"There's no need for that" Chris smiled.
"A double elimination?" asked Felix hopefully.
"Neither" replied the host. "There is no need for that, because they are both safe for today. Otis and Karen are not going home tonight."
"Why not?" they both asked in unison.
"Yeah, why not?!" Felix added with a frown.
At that time, Nurse Hatchet appears, wearing her white hospital gown and blonde wig with pigtails, pushing a cast Raymond in a wheelchair. His legs, arms, torso, and part of his head were covered by bandages.
"Raymond is too hurt to continue," Chris explained. "He states that he is still able to compete stating that "it is not his first time", but ..."
Felix understands the gesture and takes out his rule book. "Section 3, Paragraph 1. Injuries: Any contestant immobilized by serious injuries or has some type of physical disability to perform challenges will be automatically disqualified from the contest and will not be able to aspire to the prize of one million dollars"
"So that means…" Pearl spoke.
"Raymond, you have been eliminated from Total Drama: Enchanted. It is time for you to leave the competition ... forever."
Despite his serious injuries, Raymond had no problem with being seated in the Sling of Shame. Everyone else was there, saying goodbye to their partner.
"Sorry, Raymond. I didn't want this to happen" Lucas apologizes. "I thought you meant that from that time."
"Don't worry buddy. I have to admit I deserve it," Raymond commented. "Plus, I've always wanted to see what it feels like to ride a giant slingshot."
"Last words before you go, Raymond?" asked the host.
"So, we're cool?" he asked Lucas.
"Yes, of course" Lucas smiled, bumping his fists with him.
"Good luck, buddy. I'll be supporting you to win. And remember… be strong."
That was the last thing Raymond said before he was shot through the skies, away from the island and out of the game, while exclaiming his phrase into the air: "COWABUNGA!"
"You were lucky this time, my dear," Karen murmured to Pearl, once the skater was gone. "Now that the last wild card is gone, you and your giant friend are finished."
"This is not going to stay like this, you cheating snake."
Once Raymond is out of sight and the others return to their cabins, Chris focuses his attention on the camera.
"There are only six contestants left, in which there are various tensions that will be quite a spectacle to watch. Who will be next in the gallery of losers? Which side will win this war in the end? And who will make their way to the finale? Tune in to find out next time, here at…"
"Total! Drama! Enchanted!"

Here we find out more about the mysterious hooded guy. It turns out that he or she has been working alongside Karen this entire time, and they seem to have a history. For those who have doubts, Karen is and is not the mole at the same time, since The Hood is the real infiltrator, but Karen works for the guy, which makes her part of all this ... Yes, this plot is a lot more complicated than it seems.
This episode is a tribute to the video game that was the sensation these days ... until it was sadly overshadowed by Among Us.
Like The Legend of the Monster of Boney Island and Night of the Living Dead, this chapter is also a tribute to an episode of a cartoon. Most of the danger zones have the same names as the ones in that episode.
We are already five chapters away from finishing this story ... BUT that will not be the end of this franchise, since after finishing the contest, there will be a special episode that will serve as an epilogue for Enchanted ... and the prologue of the NEXT SEASON. More details in the future.
