"I should have had a little breakfast." I said with some exhaustion from the heat of the place.
It had been an hour and a half since I left the base, however I was hungry because I rushed out, not to mention that the heat was overwhelming on Route 66.
"I wonder if Winston already knows who I'm going to meet here." I said before activating the communicator in my ear.
"Winston, here Benja. Have you found out who is Overwatch agent I'm going to meet here?" I asked curiously as I stopped at a cliff to see around me.
"Hello Benja, I'm Athena. Winston is busy at the moment because Mei accidentally had a problem with her Cryogenic weapon and now it's being repaired. Until Winston returns, I'll be your guide and inform you of the situation." Athena said making me nod.
"Okay Athena, tell me. Who is the Overwatch agent I'm meeting here?" I ask curiously before flying again.
"His name is Cole Cassidy. A retired Overwatch agent, according to data he is an accurate gunslinger with unimaginable marksmanship, capable of hitting any Talon agent and killing them with just a quick shot from his revolver. He's an agent who was active in Overwatch until the fall."
"Cassidy is said to have become highly sought after due to his past as an outlaw, robbery and murder. Something that continues to this day." Athena said as I watched this curiously.
"I understand but. Where can I find him? I mean, he's an outlaw. Quite possibly he's hiding in the shadows." I said while looking to find somewhere but there were abandoned mines and there were the train tracks.
"According to Overwatch data. Cassidy liked to hang out at diners, and apparently. On Route 66 there's a diner under the train tracks right in the direction you're going. I'm pretty sure you can find it." Athena said while I saw a building in the distance.
"I think I found the cafeteria. Thank you very much, Athena." I said before going to the cafeteria and I slowly started to stop flying.
When I entered the cafeteria, I could see that it was an empty and desolate place. The music was heard around the place and everything seemed very calm, I looked around until I saw a man sitting. The man was wearing clothes that made him look like a cowboy while on another table was a belt with bullets and a gun.
"I hope he's friendly." I said in a low voice and with some nerves before approaching the table where the man is.
"Excuse me. Are you, umm. Cole Cassidy?" I asked shyly making the man put down the cup of coffee he was about to drink.
"Who asks?." The man asked calmly before continuing to drink his coffee.
"I'm Benjamin, I'm new to Overwatch. And I'm looking for a retired Overwatch agent to." I wanted to keep talking but I noticed that the man raised his hand causing me to stop talking.
"Then you found the right man. I saw you in Winston's message, though. You'll need to prove to me that you're Overwatch and not a Talon spy." Cassidy said before eating some cake.
"Okay. And how can I prove to you that I'm from Overwatch?" I asked curiously but at that moment I heard the train arrive, however suddenly a big explosion was heard and the train fell almost close to the cafeteria which left me surprised but Cassidy saw everything calmly.
"Well. It looks like you'll be able to show me now, follow me." the man said before putting a coin on the table and then putting on a hat and the belt with the bullets and the gun before walking out of the cafeteria with me.
Outside there were a group of people who were carrying boxes with the help of a robot that seemed very strong. One of the people was going through the box and saw that there were multiple grenades and ammunition inside. The man was going to continue checking when suddenly he saw something that made him run very scared.
"Ashe, Ashe!! We have problems!!." The man yelled before reaching a white haired woman who had a scarf covering her mouth with the name "Deadlock."
The woman heard the footsteps of some boots and saw that in front of her there was a man dressed as a cowboy and a young man in casual clothes but with white hair and magenta eyes, but the woman did not notice a certain detail in the eyes.
"Cole Cassidy. Ah long ago, you promised you would write." Ashe said with a smile before removing the scarf from her face.
"Well Ashe. I was a little busy." Cassidy said with a smile before lighting a cigar.
"We are busy too. How opportune you are to show up here, and with a new friend." Ashe said as she looked at me.
"Yes, you are not one of the people who would miss a good fact." Cassidy said with a calm smile, but that annoyed Ashe.
"Hey! We work hard for this, it will be better for you and your friend to leave now." The woman said seriously making Cassidy laugh a little.
"All I want. It's that box, the rest is all yours." The man said with a smile. I was really surprised that Cassidy was going to let them take the guns.
"Is it box? Oh, Bob." Ashe looked at the muscular robot making Bob open the box. The interior drew a lot of attention from the girl and the robot.
"My, my. Now you have my attention, what is it?" Ashe asked seriously making Cassidy a little serious.
"It's nothing you care about." The Overwatch agent said seriously making Ashe get off the transport with his shotgun.
"Well, the way I see it. Now it became our business." Ashe said seriously making Cassidy sigh in annoyance.
"Things can't be like this, Ashe." Cassidy said seriously while the woman looked at everything seriously just like me.
"supossely yes." ashe said with a smile before loading her shotgun. cassidy and i got serious as bob took a sign for route 66 out there and the other man pulled out two revolvers.
"Tell me, newbie. Can you see the other three behind us?" Cassidy asked in a low voice causing me to look out of the corner of my eye at two men armed with shotguns but of different designs and a sniper.
"Yes, I see them." I said seriously while accumulating magic in my hands making my palms slowly release heat.
"Listen. I'll take care of Ashe and Bob first, make sure you take care of the others behind you. I'll cover your back, and you cover mine. Got it?" Cassidy asked seriously making my eyes sparkle a little.
"It is understood." I said seriously while a deep silence appeared in the place.
The tension could be felt in the environment. No one moved a muscle as the wind stirred the tumbleweeds around the place. Everyone kept looking at Cassidy and me, while you and the Overwatch agent were very serious under the gaze of Ashe and the sniper. Bob began to sweat oil from the tension as the place filled with a lot of pressure.
Suddenly Ashe and the man next to her began to shoot which caused Cassidy to shoot, the two men behind shot but I quickly made an amber magic shield appear that protected us, that surprised everyone, Cassidy wasted no time and he threw a flashbang grenade that blinded Ashe, Bob, and the other man.
Cassidy quickly shot a cable which caused part of the train to fall while one of Ashe's men was lifted up due to his leg being entangled in a rope and the other man began to run through the falling train parts.
The sniper quickly aimed at Cassidy but the robot was unable to fire due to the hanging man's swaying which caused the sniper to be unable to shoot.
"Stop, don't shoot!!." The man yelled but when the sniper managed to aim at Cassidy the robot noticed that I had a bow and arrows, I quickly fired a water arrow that drifted to the robot.
Ashe quickly fired at us but the bullets couldn't hit us thanks to some falling rocks, Cassidy took the opportunity to shoot but Bob quickly used the Route 66 sign to block the shots.
"Grrr. Bob, do something!!." Ashe yelled before punching the robot's abdomen. Suddenly Bob turned the sign in his place to color before adjusting his hat and then pulling out some machine guns from his arms. That made Cassidy and I take cover behind a rock.
"Looks like Bob got himself some upgrades." Cassidy said before quitting as I used magic to create a shield due to the rock breaking from the shots.
"Make them get out of there!!." Ashe yelled causing everyone to fire at the shield. Cassidy loaded his gun before firing at the sniper who had recovered from the shot I gave him.
"For the last time, Cassidy!! You and your friend drop your weapons!!." the woman yelled before firing causing my shield to crack a bit. At that moment Cassidy saw some grenades causing an idea to come to her mind.
"Very good, Ashe. Here they go!!." Suddenly the Overwatch agent grabbed the grenades before throwing them which took Ashe by surprise.
"Oh shit!!." The woman yelled but before she could move. Cassidy quickly fired at the grenades generating a huge explosion leaving me very surprised by the aim and accuracy.
"So. Winston sent you to find me?" Cassidy asked with a calmer smile before lighting a cigar.
"Yes. We are gathering all Overwatch agents, Winston believes it is time the world returned to the heroes they once trusted." I said seriously making Cole laugh.
"I admit it. Joining again sounds good but...I'm already retired, by the way. Nice bow, I must ask. Where did you get it from?" Cassidy asked before pointing at my bow of water causing me to quickly put it away.
"I admit it. Joining again sounds good but... I'm already retired, by the way. You're a good archer, I must ask. Where did you get that bow?" Cassidy asked before pointing at my water bow, which made me put it away quickly.
"Umm, Winston gave it to me. He thought technology with the ability to make my bow appear and disappear at will, sort of like a camouflage module." I said seriously but inside I was nervous.
"Nice. Now, do you think you can help me tie these guys up? And if you're wondering, they're not dead. I made sure the radius of the blast just knocked them out." Cassidy said with a smile causing him and I to start tying up each of Ashe's companions and the woman.
Ashe slowly began to wake up, the woman was disoriented and dizzy but when she regained her sight, she was very surprised to see her hands tied tightly.
"What? Cassidy!!." Ashe yelled earnestly only to see Bob's head on some ropes. The robot's expression looked annoyed.
"Sorry Bob. Don't take this personally." Cassidy said as the man put the hat on the robot causing Bob to relax.
"Cassidy!!. Hey, untie me, Cassidy!!." Ashe yelled angrily as I lowered the box from the transport.
"Say hi to the gang for me." The man said with a smile before pressing a button causing the transport to start moving.
"Don't ignore me!! I'm going to fix Bob, and have him rip your other arm off. And I'm going to make sure your fucking friend pays for this too!" Ashe yelled furiously as Cassidy laughed.
"I must ask, Cassidy. What is in this box?" I asked curiously but I saw that the man took a piece from his pocket and could see that it was a part of the box. Suddenly the box began to open and something or someone was starting to wake up.
"Hello, cowboy." Said a female voice causing Cassidy to take off her hat with a smile.
"Welcome back, partner." Cassidy said as he extended a hand. But I was very surprised to see that it was a robotic hand, suddenly a white hand grabbed the hand of the Overwatch agent and I saw how slowly a robot came out of the capsule.
"Hmm, how long have I been away?" The robot girl asked curiously as she looked around.
"Too much time." Cassidy said with a smile but then saw the robot girl look at the man's robotic hand analytically.
"What happened?." The girl asked curiously but that made the cowboy laugh.
"Well, that's a story for another time. But, I got a call. They're going to reunite the team, they want me but. Actually, they need you." Cassidy said with a smile as the robot girl looked surprised before seeing me.
"And who is he?." The girl asked curiously making Cassidy laugh.
"This is Benja, a new Overwatch agent. Benja, this is Echo." Said the man with a smile making me smile.
"It's nice to meet you, Echo." I said smiling but then we saw Cassidy walk but he was stopped by the robot girl.
"Cole, wait. What are you going to do?" Echo asked curiously making Cassidy look at me
"I have things to do, but above all. Help my new friend." The man said with a smile before approaching a hovering motorcycle. The cowboy started the motorcycle before approaching where Echo and I are.
"Come on, Benja. We have to take advantage of the sunlight before it gets dark." Cassidy said making me get on the motorcycle.
"Say hi to the monkey for me, Echo." The cowboy said with a smile making Echo and me laugh.
"Haha, Monkey?" Echo and I ask at the same time making Cassidy laugh.
"Scientist, whatever." The man said before starting to drive leaving Echo behind.
Ashe was very angry, but a part of her also seemed curious as the woman sat next to Bob's head.
"That idiot Cassidy, he ruined everything." Ashe said venomously but then she remembered my shield and the things I did.
"That brat that was with Cole, something is not right with that vermin. By the time I see him again, I will have my answers, that shield, his bow and arrows. They are not like the ones I saw before." Ashe said analytically but then she was surprised when Cassidy and I walked past her, but then she noticed something that made her angrier.
"Hey!!. That's my motorcycle, Cassidy!!." Ashe yelled angrily making the cowboy laugh while I looked at everything in surprise.
"Wow, she really hates you." I said very surprised as I look at Ashe and the rest of his gang.
The day passed until sunset. The silence made me very uncomfortable but I really liked the landscapes and how quiet everything was. If Catrine were with me, we would both be painting all day non-stop.
"Let me tell you this, Benja. You are very brave in wanting to reunite the band, but don't think it will be an easy task." Cassidy said making me look at this with surprise.
"Listen. Many of the others are retired like me, and some of them are still working from the shadows. Also, you have to be careful. Since the nations have banned any Overwatch activity it's totally illegal and believe me when I say that your parents won't be around happy with it." The cowboy said but I lowered my head when I heard that.
"Actually...my parents are dead. I'm all that's left of my family." I said sadly making Cassidy bite her lip.
"Shit. Sorry, Benja. I just said to be very careful what you do to find the rest of the team. There are many agents here and in other places, and I don't think you will be able to find them all." Cassidy said before smiling.
"And that's why I'm going to help you." The Overwatch agent said making me very surprised.
"Wait, are you going to help me? But, I thought you weren't coming back to Overwatch." I said surprised making Cassidy laugh.
"True, but I doubt very much that you have time to go anywhere in the world to find the agents and that's why I already thought of something." Cassidy said before stopping and getting off the motorcycle causing me to do the same.
"You need help. I know Winston might give you a hand, but I think you'll need more than just a hand." The man said before showing me a map.
"These are the locations of some agents. There aren't many, but I assure you it will help you. You can take care of some of them and I can take care of the rest." Cassidy said before handing me the map.
"Okay. Where do I start?" I asked curiously making Cassidy laugh.
"That's your decision, Benja. Tell me, where will you go now?" The cowboy asked curiously causing me to open the map and a hologram reappeared showing all the continents and locations.
"I think I'll start with Canada. I'll go to Toronto." I said before jotting down the location.
"Very good. Just be careful, I heard that lately a lot of Talon soldiers are scattered around the area and if they find out that you are from us, they won't hesitate to try to kill you." Cassidy said seriously making me nod.
"I understand. I'll be careful, by the way. Where will you go?" I asked curiously having Cassidy point to Egypt on the map.
"My next stop is in Egypt. I have a friend who is there and the truth is, if Overwatch will return, I would like to talk to her first, we have been friends for many years." Said the cowboy with a smile making me nod.
"Okay. If you need help, feel free to call me. This is my number." I said before showing him my number on my Icoffin something that caught Cassidy's attention.
"I've never seen a coffin-shaped cell phone before." The Overwatch agent said making me quickly put my cell phone away.
"Umm, well. It's just a personalized phone, a friend of mine made it especially for me and I've had it ever since." I said with a sheepish smile making Cassidy raise an eyebrow.
"I understand. You have some weird taste, kid. But I respect that, now let's go. I'll take you to a train station that will take you to Ontario in less than the blink of an eye." Cassidy said before getting on the motorcycle causing me to do the same before we left.
"Ugh, hold still Bob. I can't finish repairing your arm if you don't hold still." Ashe said angrily as the woman was struggling to finish repairing her friend's arm.
Hours had passed since Cassidy and I defeated them, when they reached their base, the others quickly helped to remove the ropes. Ashe was very furious and asked to leave her alone with Bob so she could make amends.
"Good. You're ready Bob, now go. I need to relax." The woman said making the robot leave the room. When the woman was left alone, she started throwing darts at a photo of Cassidy.
"First you steal my motorcycle, you ruin our job, and now you have a new friend who doesn't seem normal." Ashe said angrily before firing the last dart at Cassidy's forehead.
"That shield. That kid just reached out and appeared, and that bow and arrows, that brat made them appear out of nowhere. I didn't see a trace of technology in his hands or anything on his clothes." Ashe said seriously before starting to play with a knife.
"Well, Cassidy. It sounds like you found someone very special, I just hope you take good care of that boy, because I can assure you that I'm going to find out what that boy is capable of. Even though that won't be that easy, no I have no idea where those idiots are going." Ashe said with annoyance before getting up.
Bob was sweating, the robot was busy making a ship in a bottle. The robot was shaking to fit the last piece until suddenly...
"Bob!! Come here right now!!." The robot was startled causing the bottle to fall to the ground causing the ship to break. Bob looked sad before going to the room where Ashe is.
"Bob, I want you and the guys to patrol around the area. If you can spot Cassidy's friend, do everything you can to take him down and bring him here, I want him alive. Understood?" Ashe asked seriously making Bob nod but before the robot leaves, a knife almost hits him in the face.
"And one more thing. If Cassidy stays with him, have that son of a bitch say hi to the devil for me." The woman said with a smile as Bob walked away to leave Ashe alone.
Cassidy and I were near a train station. As I walked, I couldn't help but see that the man looked nervous and walked with his shadow covering his face causing me to walk next to him.
"Cassidy, what's wrong?" I asked with concern as I looked around to make sure no Talon agents were following us.
"Don't talk so loud, kid. We're not in a good position right now, I'll tell you what happens until we're inside the train." The man said with concern as the two of us got on the train before going to sit in a corner.
"Are you okay? You seem very nervous and worried." I said with concern making Cassidy sigh.
"Let's put it this way. Working for Overwatch was fun at first, but let's just say...some things when they get out there, chaos breaks out worse than a hurricane." Cassidy said with her head lowered making her look at this curiously.
"Me. I don't understand, what happened?" I ask curiously. Cassidy looked away as many memories flashed through her mind.
"I'm sorry Benja but. I'm afraid that's a story for another time, umm. Why don't we go to the downstairs dining room to have something to eat? You must be very hungry since we haven't eaten all day." Cassidy said and suddenly my stomach rumbled making us both laugh.
"Sounds good to me. By the way, who's the Overwatch agent I'm looking for in Toronto?" I asked curiously while Cassidy and I went to the dining room downstairs.
"Let's say that she is someone who was very important in Overwatch and in the army before, in simple words she is a living legend. I advise you to be respectful and be kind, she does not like vandals and much less rude people." Cassidy said with a smile making me nod.
"I see. So she's a very strict woman, and what's her name?" I asked curiously as the two of us sat down at a table.
"Her name is Sojourn. She was an Overwatch agent a long time ago, I may not talk to her much before but. I heard that her strategies and combat ways are unmatched, she can easily make war tactics at such an advanced level that she can guarantee effortless victory." Cassidy said making me very surprised.
"My, so she must be very smart. Now what is she doing?" I asked curiously while an omnic waiter gave us a few glasses of water.
"I don't know. Ever since Overwatch faded, all contact between us was severed. I haven't heard from the rest of the team since then, until you and Winston sent that message. I must admit, I was very surprised how you found Our base, after all the Gibraltar base is very hidden." Cassidy said making me nervous.
"It's a long story. I'd feel more comfortable if all the agents are together, that way I can tell my story without a problem." I said while looking away, something that caught Cassidy's attention.
'He's hiding something, I don't see technology in it to be able to make shields or weapons appear, not to mention that his cell phone has very old technology. Winston, where did this child come from? Cassidy wondered in her mind before lighting a cigar.
"Okay, Benja. So, when the band is back. I look forward to your story." Cassidy said with a smile making me smile more calmly.
"Thank you, Cassidy. I just hope finding the others isn't so hard." I said with concern making the cowboy laugh.
"Don't worry. Don't be disappointed if some agents reject the hero's call, though. Some prefer to stay with their families and live a life as a civilian, though. I can guarantee you that perhaps the spirit of heroism still dwells within them." Cassidy said with a smile making me smile.
"I hope so. This world is already suffering a lot. I think it would be better for things to change." I said with a smile making Cassidy smile.
"That's the attitude, kid. Now let's eat, today was a tiring day and when we get to Toronto we'll have to part ways." Cassidy said with a smile making me smile.
"Yes. Something tells me tomorrow is going to be a long day." I said as we both got ready for dinner. However, we both don't notice that on the train's security camera. There was someone watching us.
"Hey, Reaper. I think you'll like to see this." a female voice said as the man appeared next to the girl.
"That white-haired brat. He messed up my infiltration mission to Gibraltar, where is that train headed?" Reaper asked coldly but that didn't scare the girl.
"He's headed to Toronto, Canada. Right where you two are going." The girl said with a smile as footsteps were heard in the room.
"Is he the boy you told us about last time? He doesn't seem dangerous." A female voice with a French accent said.
"Don't just focus on appearance, Widowmaker. He is more dangerous than meets the eye, even the soldiers I brought with me. They say that even though he was shot, no bullets came close to him." Reaper said seriously causing the girl at the computer to whistle in astonishment.
"Wow, apparently someone is more agile than you, friend." the girl said nonchalantly to Widowmaker causing the woman to get annoyed.
"We are not 'friends.' And you will see that with a single shot, he will not bother us again." Widowmaker said confidently but Reaper looked more serious.
"No. We're going to capture him alive, with the abilities he has. He could be of use to us. When we see the right time, we'll get not only the gauntlet, but that boy as well." The man said coldly before walking to a door.
"Hey, little skull. And what if he doesn't come peacefully?" The girl from the computer asked curiously.
"Then Moira will have a new bunny for her experiments. One, human size." Reaper said with a tone from beyond the grave before walking away while he laughed in a dark way.
