The Little Mermaid (Mako Mermaid style)

Chapter Six: The gods and Nightmares

Ariel walked into Mount Olympus unsurely. She was wearing her hair in a ponytail and looking around to see if she could see her grandfather. she knew where his house was of course, but in case he wasn't home.

"Ariel!" Ariel swung her head around to see Hera coming towards her. She hugged her great aunt. "What brings you here?"

"Trouble" Ariel sighed. "Is my grandfather here?"

"Oh, it sounds serious. I think Poseidon and Zeus are having lunch together. come join us" Hera replied. Ariel followed Hera as she led them to where her grandfather and great uncle were dining.

"Ariel" Poseidon greeted warmly. then he looked at her downcast face. "Sweetheart, what's wrong?" So Ariel poured out her heart and told them what had happened to her family.

"Oh no!" Hera said, hugging Ariel.

"Is there anything you can do grandfather?" Ariel asked. Poseidon sighed.

"Unfortunately, there isn't. Not without my trident which as you said, Ursula now possesses. without my powers, I would be captured as well"

"what can we do?" Ariel asked.

"There is an object that can overpower the trident and that is Hade's ember" Ariel's face fell.

"I can't use that," she protested. "It only works for Hades and it doesn't work if it gets wet" Poseidon nodded.

"So you need to draw Ursula to Mako Island after obtaining the ember. you must defeat her on land in order to use the ember. And you are Hades grandniece, i believe you can use it" Ariel nodded.

"Thank you Grandfather, but umm. how exactly do I get to the underworld?" she asked. Zeus handed Ariel a lamp.

"this lamp will bring you directly to Hades. once you have the ember the lantern will port you back to your friends. Do not drop the lantern or you could be lost in the underworld" Ariel nodded and gripped the lantern tightly. suddenly she felt herself lurching forward, when she stopped she was standing in front of Hades.

"Ariel" he said surprised. "Odd of my brother to send you here" Ariel found herself once again explaining what had happened and what Poseidon had said she needed to do. Hades sighed.

"Look, Ariel, I'd really like to help you, but I'm not sure you can use the ember" he said. he saw her face fall. "I will let you try it" he said. "But please, bring it back to me"

"I promise" Ariel replied. holding the ember tightly in her hand, she squeezed the lantern and lurched forward again. Luckily for everyone, Evie, Cam and Zac were waiting in the grotto when she appeared in front of them.

"Ariel!" Evie said, happy to see her. Ariel smiled and told her land friends what had transpired and showed them the ember.

"Ok, so we have to figure out how to get Ursula to Mako Island, because its the only way to fight her?" Cam asked. Ariel nodded.

"Lets all go to bed, and brainstorm and see what we come up with" Evie said. Ariel said goodbye to her friends and fell asleep in the grotto, her mind restless with ways to defeat Ursula. Ariel's biggest concern was that she didn't want anyone getting hurt and she was worried that Evie, Cam and Zac would insist on going to Mako with her. she was also afraid she would have to give up her new friends once she did defeat Ursula and return home. Little did Ariel know that Ursula was watching her through her crystal ball. Ursula smiled.

"Lets see you get out of this" she cackled as she cast some black dust on the orb. "Now you'll be trapped in your nightmare...Forever!"

Nightmare

Ariel was running, and she wasn't sure how long she had been running for but they were after her. she hid in an alleyway

"She went this way!" She heard a voice say.

"Come out, Come out Little mermaid, We won't hurt you" Ariel squinted her eyes shut.

"Hey!" Ariel's eyes flew open. That was Zac's voice. "Leave her alone!" a gunshot sounded and there was a thud and then some laughter.

"Zac" she whispered. she closed her eyes as images of her land friends swam before them.

"this is your fault" they seemed to whisper. "its because of you. your fault"

"No, Please" She whispered.

"Found you" A voice said. She looked up and screamed.
