Chapter 7: The Trap

Morning had arrived in the city. In the Emiya household, Shirou was sleeping soundly on his bed before he opened his eyes and then his alarm clock before he turned it off.

Shirou then sat up and stretched out his arms.

After he left his room, Shirou was in the bathroom to brush his teeth before he washes his face as he splashed water on it.

Shirou then took a moment to look at his reflection in the mirror before he pulled down his eyelid and rubbed on his cheek.

"Even though this face is new to me, I'm surprised that I am used to it now." Shirou said to himself.

"Shirou! Breakfast is ready!" Sella calls him.

"Alright, I got it!" Shirou responded.

After getting dressed in his uniform, Shirou was now eating breakfast on the kitchen table with Sella, Liz, and Illya who was also wearing her school uniform.

"Illya-san, are you certain you're ready to go back to school?" Sella said in some worry.

"Don't worry. I've been feeling better since yesterday." Illya said before she nervously chuckled, and Sella's eyes darken to hear that.

"I see…" Sella mutters before she takes a bite of her food.

"Oh, yeah, didn't that Miyu girl visit in a maid outfit?" Liz asked.

"Liz-neechan! Please don't mention that!" Illya said as her cheeks turned red.

As he was eating, Shirou eyed Sella, Liz, and Illya as they spoke, he then looked at his own food.

'So this is what a family is like…Hmmm.' Shirou thought as he continued to eat and look at the females in the house which Sella notices as she looks at Shirou in suspicion.

"Shirou, why are you looking at us like that?" She asked in suspicion and Shirou flinched.

"Oh…No reason, I'm sorry though, I didn't mean to make things weird." Shirou said as he continued to eat.

Sella wasn't convinced by that before she sighs.

"I swear…men." She said before she continued to eat.

Shirou carefully eyed Sella.

'That woman is a lot sharper than she looks. I may have to be careful around her.' Shirou thought.

After they finished breakfast, both Shirou and Illya walked to school together. As they were walking, Shirou eyed Illya before he remembered those words he said to Hajime.

"If...If I die...can you watch over my family for me…I know you don't know me, but it would mean a lot to me if you were there for them. Especially my sister, she can be a bit of a crybaby...So please, can you protect her in my place?"

Illya then notices her brother was looking at him as she turns to him.

"Onii-chan, is something wrong?" Illya asked, and Shirou smiled as he shook his head.

"No, it's nothing. I'm just glad that you're feeling better." Shirou said as they continued to walk to school.

As he was walking, Shirou placed a hand close to his Undead Buckle.

(Round ZERO~BLADE BRAVE by Nanase Aikawa)

The song starts with colored lights shining in a dark room, revealing Kamen Rider Blade, Garren, and Chalice who were kneeling before they stood up.

The setting soon moves into a similar place and all the main characters of the story so far are standing on separate platforms with black suits.

(Tatta hitorikiri kimi no sonzai ga) (The camera zooms in on a few of the characters before zooming in on Kouji Kenzaki, who took a bite out of an apple he was holding and smiled. Then it moves to Shinichi Tachibana who was kicking a soccer ball around.)

(Itsuka sekai no subete kaeru darou) (Then it moved to Illya who was spinning around with Ruby flying around her. Then we see Miyu waving her hand as Sapphire flies onto her shoulder. We then see Luvia doing her laugh which annoys Rin as she growls at her, which made Jeanne sigh seeing those two bicker. Then moves to Shirou doing a spin kick as he lands on his knee and foot before he raises his head up.)

(Koko ni aru mo no wa kibou? Zetsubou?) (We soon see Blade, Garren, and Chalice driving their bikes through a beach. We soon see Illya and Miyu wearing their magical girl outfits flying in the sky.)

(Round Zero hajimatteru) (We soon moved back to the Riders room where Blade, Garren, and Chalice were not far from each other and were next to their bikes, before they started practicing their weapons.)

(Shiranai to iu tsumi to shirisugiru wana) (The three continue practicing their weapons while we move to Illya and Miya doing the same using their Include weapons.)

(Ugokenaku naru mae ni ugokidasou) (We then move back towards Blade, Garren, and Chalice riding through the beach. Then it moves back to Chalice in the room practicing his weapon.)

(Kaze ni mekurareta Card) (The three Riders practice their weapons while posing. Blade was swinging his Blay Rouzer, Garren aiming his Garren Rouzer, and Chalice was swinging and spinning with his Chalice Arrow.)

(Uranau you ni warau. Mayowanai hazu mo nai sore demo ashita wo sagase) (We move to Albino Joker swinging in a separate room swinging his scythe around before he changes into the Kamen Rider Glaive practicing with his Glaive Rouzer as he swings it around.)

(Mekurumeku unmei. Koware sou na jidai ni.) (We then move back to Blade swinging his Rouzer upward. Then it changes to Blade, Garren, and Chalice riding down the beach.)

(Kirifuda wa kimi no naka togisumasareta yuuki ni shite BLADE BRAVE!) (Blade stops swinging his sword for a brief moment as he lowers his Rouzer and stands up, before the logo appears as Garren and Chalice walk next to him.)

Shirou had arrived in the high school division of his school where he met up with Kouji and Shinichi.

As they were heading to their classroom, Shirou could hear them whispering to each other about his wound from yesterday. Shirou took a note to be careful around those two as well.

The three of them were now having English class where Shirou was speaking the foreign language as he was now standing on his feet.

"Hello, my name is Shirou Emiya. It is nice to meet you." Shirou said in English.

"Hm-hm. Very good, Emiya-kun." The teacher said, Shirou sat back down before he called out to another student.

Kouji and Shinichi were still eyeing Shirou.

Then after classes were over, Shirou went to the archery club to practice shooting his arrows.

Shirou fired an arrow on the target and landed on the direct center of it, and Shirou smirks on hitting his target.

Both Kouji and Shinichi continue to spy on Shirou through the entrance of the archery hall.

"Hmmm…I don't know, Kouji. He still seems like the same old Shirou." Shinichi told him.

"Yeah. But still, I can't shake the feeling that something's still off about him." Kouji said.

Shinichi sighed as he rubbed the back of his head.

"Alright, I suppose we'll have to keep an eye on him a little longer until we know for certain." Shinichi said.

"Oh, senpai."

Both Kouji and Shinichi turned around and saw a girl standing behind them.

She was around their age with violet hair, which she styles with a red-pink ribbon on the left side, and violet eyes.

This is Matou Sakura, a first-year student in the high school division.

"Oh, Sakura-chan. What are you doing here?" Shinichi asked as he looked a little nervous.

"Well…I am a part of the archery club. So, it would be obvious I would come here for practice." Sakura told him.

"Oh, right." Shinichi nervously chuckles.

"Anyway, what are you two doing here?" Sakura asked, and both Kouji and Shinichi flinched.

"Oh, nothing! We were just passing through! Right, Kouji?" Shinichi asked.

"Yeah, that's about right." Kouji said before he nervously chuckled.

Sakura blinks a few times before she chuckles in amusement.

"Honestly. You two are always funny together." Sakura said, Kouji and Shinichi were relieved that she bought it.

"Anyway, we should get going. Come on, Kouji." Shinichi said before he walked away.

"Right." Kouji said before he followed him.

"Hey, Tachibana-senpai!" Sakura calls out to him, and Shinichi stops as he turns to her. "If you need help with the student council, be sure to tell me."

"Oh…Yeah, if you're free though." Shinichi said.

Sakura waves him goodbye as she enters the archery hall with Shinichi watching her before he notices that Kouji was giving him a sly look with a smile, Shinichi flinches.

"Oh, don't you start, Kouji!" Shinichi exclaimed.

"Hey, I'm not starting anything. I'm not the one who's always nervous around that girl." Kouji said, and Shinichi's cheeks turned red.

"What?! I'm not nervous around her!" Shinichi exclaimed, and Kouji rolled his eyes.

"Sure, you weren't." Kouji said.

Shinichi clicks his tongue as he turns away from him and walks away.

"Let's just go…" He grumbles.

Kouji chuckled before he followed him.

Unknown to Kouji and Shinichi that Shirou was able to hear their conversation, in fact he knew that they were secretly watching him all day.

Shirou sighed.

"I swear…Maybe going to this school thing was a bad idea." Shirou said.

(Later, at night)

Night had soon arrived in Fuyuki City. The Riders had met up with Illya, Miyu, Jeanne, Rin, and Luvia in the forest in the outskirts of the city.

After the Riders and Magical Girls had transformed, they soon entered the Mirror World but there was no sign of the Heroic Spirit or Glaive.

They begin walking in the forest to look for the Heroic Spirit of this area.

"Not an opponent or card in sight. What's going on here?" Luvia said as she looked around the Spirit.

"Did we get the place wrong?" Illya asked.

"That's not possible. The fact that there's a Mirror World here means that the card responsible must be close by." Rin said.

"I see. That makes sense." Illya nodded in understanding.

Blade then moves to Illya's side.

"Illya-chan, are you sure you're ready for this? I mean, you only just got better." Blade told her, and Illya shook her head.

"Don't worry, Kouji-san, I'm fine. Besides, there are only two Cards left. Best that we get this over with, especially with that Glaive guy still out there." Illya said.

"Alright. Just…Don't push yourself, okay." Blade requested, and Illya nodded.

Blade then walks ahead of Illya and walks beside Rin.

"Are you really sure you want to bring Illya-chan back into this whole Class Card hunt? Even after what happened last time." Blade said as he remembers how Illya had defeated Glaive.

"Well, I wasn't there when…it happened. So, you shouldn't ask me that question. Besides, with this Glaive hunting down the Class Cards, we need all hands-on deck." Rin said as she remembers Glaive's army of Albiroachies and how he used the Saber Card's power.

"I can understand that but still…" Blade said before he looked at Illya in worry.

Garren looks up and notices something odd about the sky, Blade notices this as he turns to his friend.

"Is something wrong, Shinichi?" Blade asked.

"Well...It could be my imagination, but doesn't the sky seem smaller?" Garren asked.

The others look up at the sky and notice that the sky, which is the ceiling of the Mirror World, has indeed gotten smaller.

"You're right. It is getting smaller." Jeanne said.

"It must be a result of having only two of the Cards left." Sapphire stated.

"It would make sense. The Class Cards are the only power source this place has. So, it shouldn't be surprising that the Mirror World is slowly getting weaker." Jeanne said.

"So, if we get this sixth card, there's a good chance that it will only get smaller as a result." Garren said and Jeanne nodded in agreement.

"Yes. And given its current size, I say it would shrink down to the size of a tall building." Jeanne said.

They soon arrived in an open area of the forest, but then Illya could hear movement behind before she stopped and turned around but saw nothing.

The others stopped as they turned to Illya.

"What's wrong, Illya-chan?" Jeanne asked.

"I might be imagining things, but I thought I heard something mo-" Illya said before she felt something flew close to her neck as she fell on her hands and knees as the object was a knife as it stabbed into a tree.

Seeing that surprised the others before Blade and Garren pulled out their weapons.

"Miyu!" Luvia calls out and Miyu channels an energy shot above Sapphire.

"Shoot!" Miyu shouted as she fired her energy shot at the direction where the knife came from, creating an explosion.

When the smoke died down, there was no one in sight.

"Nobody?" Miyu said in confusion.

"Where did it go?" Garren said as he aimed his gun at the trees around him and the others.

"Illya!" The others turned to Rin and Illya as Rin was kneeling beside Illya who was now sitting on her rear. "You, okay?"

"Y-Yeah, I'm fine." Illya nodded.

"The physical protection worked. It merely nicked the skin." Ruby told them.

Miyu sighed in relief.

"It's about time you guys showed up." Another voice calls to them.

They looked and saw Glaive was leaning on a tree with his arms folded as he was waiting for them for some time.

"You again!" Blade said as he and Garren faced Glaive.

The others were looking for the Heroic Spirit in case it might show up again.

"If you're worried about the Heroic Spirit of this place, don't be. I've already taken care of it." Glaive said as they showed them a new Class Card in his hand.

It had a picture of a shirtless man with a skull mask and black clothing with two daggers in hand and had the word 'Assassin' on the bottom.

Seeing that surprised the Riders and their friends.

"Wait...If you really did beat the Heroic Spirit here, how is the Mirror World still standing?" Rin said as she looked up. "It should've fallen apart by now."

"Trade secret. But that should be the last of your worries." Glaive told them as he steps forward which made his enemies on guard against him while Illya was looking a little scared right now. "If you don't want me to finish where we left off, then how about you hand over the Class Cards to me?"

"Please! Like we'll surrender to you and do as you command!" Luvia said as she and Rin pulled out their jewels.

Jeanne soon created a spear from the ground and wielded it in her hands.

Blade assumes his stance with his sword and Garren aims his gun at him.

Miyu was also ready to fight Glaive while Illya was still a little scared to fight him.

"Hmph…Fine, have it your way then." Glaive said as he snapped his fingers.

The Riders and their friends soon heard movement in the trees around them.

But that's when Illya's vision starts to become blurry and feels a little lightheaded.

First arriving out the trees were the Albiroachies, and it wasn't just them as another army followed them which was a shocking sight to them.

"What the hell?" Blade mutters in shock.

It wasn't just the Albiroachies, there was also an army of a hundred Glaives with them as they were armed with their swords.

"More Glaives?" Jeanne said in shock.

"There's over hundreds of them!" Sapphire told them.

Illya was now having trouble breathing as the memories of first meeting Glaive appeared in her head.

"No way…" Jeanne said.

"We're completely surrounded!" Luvia said.

"That's dirty! Since when did that guy have brothers?!" Rin said.

"Wait…Could this be Assassin's power?" Jeanne said as she looked at the army of Glaives.

"That's right!" The real Glaive answered as they turned to him. "Even I was surprised that I could do this. Though they may not be as strong as me, they'll be efficient enough to handle you guys."

Glaive then draws out his sword and offers his hand to them.

"Now, your cards please." Glaive requested.

"Like hell we're going to give them to you!" Rin said.

Glaive sighed and shook his head in disappointment.

"Fine. Have it your way then." Glaive said before he walks to his enemies and his army of clones and Albiroachies approach them.

Everyone was on guard against them while Illya's breathing became even heavier.

'At this rate…I'll…' Illya thought as she looked at the approaching Glaives and Albiroachies.

"Rin, make an opening." Jeanne whispers to Rin. "He might've gotten the Card here, but as long as the seventh is still out there, we'll still have a chance to get the others."

"On it!" Rin said as she threw her jewels, creating a large fire explosion that sent the army of Glaives and Albiroachies flying.

"Now! We need to move!" Jeanne told them.

They soon begin to run to the opening.

"We're breaking through the circle! Miyu and Illyasviel, focus fire in front!" Luvia said as everyone gets ready to break through the circle.

"Right!" Miyu said.

But then, Illya falls on her hands and knees, forcing the others to stop and turn to her.

"Illya-chan!" Blade said in worry.

"What's wrong?" Jeanne asked before Illya slowly raised her head.

"I…I can't…move…" Illya mutters as she struggles to move her body.

"Abnormal mana flow detected. Unable to maintain physical protection!" Ruby told them.

"Abnormal mana flow?" Rin said before she remembers that knife being thrown close to Illya's neck. "Don't tell me…poison?!"

"Hmph…Easy prey." Glaive said before he and his army charged at Illya to attack her.

"Illya-chan!" Blade shouted in worry.

Time seems to slow down around Illya as her friends rush in to save her from the Albiroachies and Glaive's clones.

'I felt like a king who had been checkmated. Jeanne-san, Rin-san, and Luvia-san's judgments were calm and accurate. But the enemy was a step ahead of us. We had simply fallen behind from the very first move. Just because of that? Am I going to die just because of that? Not just me. At this rate, my friends will too.'

Illya and Miyu reach out their hands.

'This doesn't make sense. Are we all going to die? This isn't right. This can't be the world that I live in.' Then as the moment Illya blinked her eyes glowed yellow and a bright light slowly appeared around her. 'I must protect them…'

Then the bright light fully appeared around Illya, forcing her friends to stop and shield their eyes.

The bright light had completely obliterated some of the Glaive clones and Albiroachies forcing the real Glaive and his army to jump away from Illya.

"This is…" Glaive mutters.

Then a pillar of light appeared in the forest and a large explosion appeared, then suddenly the Mirror World had disappeared bringing them back to the real world.

'This time, I clearly remembered what I did.'

When the pillar of light had disappeared, there was a massive crater around Illya and there was no sign of Glaive and his army.

When she saw the crater around, Illya was both shocked and horrified at what she had just done.

When Blade lowered his arms to cover his eyes, he saw that Miyu had protected him and the others with a barrier against the burst of energy, but her uniform was damaged as a result, and small wounds had appeared around her and the girls.

"Hey, you girls, alright?" Blade asked.

"Somehow…" Jeanne mutters.

Miyu then lowered Sapphire to look at Illya.

"Illya…" Miyu mutters.

"What's this?" Illya asked as she looked at the large crater around them. "Did I…Did I do this?"

The Riders soon stood up and changed back to their civilian forms.

"Illya-chan, it's alright. Let's just get you back home." Kouji said as he was about to walk to Illya, but Miyu stopped him by raising her arm in front of him. "Miyu-chan?"

"I-I…" Illya mutters. "I didn't think this'd happen."

Miyu tightens her hold on Sapphire.

"That was too close." Miyu said and Illya raised her head.

"S-Sorry." Illya said.

"If I hadn't put up the defensive barrier in time, the others and I would've…" Miyu said.

"Miyu-chan, that's taking things too far. She didn't mean for this to happen." Shinichi told her.

"I'm only speaking the truth." Miyu said.

"B-But I thought everyone would die if I didn't-" Illya said.

"Look at the result." Miyu said and Illya looked up at her. "One mistake, and everyone would've died. Because of you."

"H-Hey!" Rin said.

"That's…" Illya said.

"Besides, you're the one who got hit first. You were also the one who couldn't move. You messed up and caused your mana to explode, endangering all of us." Miyu told her.

Illya then falls on her hands as tears begin to form on her eyes.

"That was…" Illya mutters.

"Yes, you forced the enemy to retreat. But if it weren't for you, we never would've been in danger." Miyu told her, and Illya lowered her head, Miyu tightly held her arm. "I've had enough of this. I…I don't want to fight you ever again."

Illya quickly stood up and backed away from her friends.

"I…I…" She mutters.

"Illya-san, calm down!" Ruby told her.

Illya cries in sadness before she flies away.

"Illya-chan, wait!" Kouji calls out to her, but Illya ignores him as she continues to fly away.

Kouji then turns to Miyu who lowered her head before he grabbed onto her shoulders.

"Miyu-chan, why would you say those things to her? That was taking things too far." Kouji said.

"I only spoke the truth and you know it. She was proving too much of a danger to continue to fight with us." Miyu told him.

"I can understand that. But Illya-chan is still a little girl, and you're barely any older than she is. It doesn't give you the right to say those things to her." Kouji told her, and Miyu continued to avoid eye contact with him.

Kouji sighed before he turned back to the sky as Illya was now gone.

"Illya-chan…" Kouji said in worry on how this will affect her from here on.

Unknown to Kouji and the others is that Shirou was spying on them hiding behind one of the trees in the forest and had secretly followed them in the Mirror World.

"Hmmm…Now this was a strange turn of events. But I'm glad that Illya is safe." Shirou said before he frowned. "But still that power she used; it can't be natural. And there was also that man…"

Shirou then remembers Glaive and could feel the aura around him. It was different compared to his own aura, but at the same time it was similar.

Shirou then quietly leaves the area as he disappears in the shadows of the forest.

(Meanwhile)

A now hooded Junichi was walking in a different part of the forest that was on the edge of a cliff and waiting for him was another hooded man.

"Hey there, Orma." Junichi greeted him with a wave.

But Orma simply frowns at him as he grumbles.

"Honestly, I can't believe you called me over to maintain that world. I'll have you know; it wasn't easy to do." Orma told him.

"And I'm grateful for it, really." Junichi told him and Orma wasn't convinced by that.

"Oh, please don't give me that modesty of yours. But oh well, I see no downside to this. At least I was able to see that girl's power for myself." Orma said.

"And did you think about it?" Junichi asked and Orma hummed in thought.

"Well...I can see why the master has his eye on her. But I find her lack of control to be pitiful at best." Orma said.

"True. But that's also the reason why he's interested in her. To see for himself whether she's capable of controlling it or not." Junichi stated.

"Hmph...I guess that's true. But regardless, my work here is done." Orma said as an Aurora Curtain appeared behind him. "I still have my own preparations to do. So don't expect any more help from me for a while."

"Don't worry, I won't. This is only a one-time deal after all." Junichi told him.

"Good. Well, I wish you the best of luck in your mission here." Orma said as he walked into the Curtain before it disappeared.

"And he told me to spare him with modesty."

Junichi then turns back to the crater where his enemies were standing.

"But still, to think that little girl had all that power sealed within her. It's no wonder the master wanted me to keep an eye on her." Junichi said. He then brings out the three Class Cards in his possession, Saber, Caster, and now Assassin.

Since Blade's allies as the Archer, Rider, and Lancer Cards there was now one Class Card left to acquire. The Berserker Card.

"Six down, only one to go. The only question now is who will get it first. Me or them." Junichi said before he smirks because either way, he was looking forward to seeing who will get the last Class Card first.
