Chapter 3

"Hello shrine priestess, do you believe in the supernatural?" I ask Yasaka.

seeming to get what I mean she sets up a barrier

"Who are you," she asks cautiously

"I'm just a traveling merchant aware of the supernatural. My merchant name is reforge."

I forgot to think of a nickname thank god I remember one of the names of the enchantments I got. it sounds good enough for now

"How did you know I was part of the supernatural?" Yasaka asks with concern

"I can sense the supernatural aura around you even though you're suppressing it, it isn't 100% undetectable. Can't dismiss the fact that you are also one of the most beautiful women I have seen even among supernatural women." I say trying to convince her not to kill me on the spot.

I need her to buy my lie so that I can earn some money and learn more about how to get to kuoh and insert myself into the main storyline

Yasaka seems to be caught off guard and lets her guard down she relaxes for a good 10 seconds before finally responding to my question

"Which faction are you a part of?" Yasaka asks bringing her guard back up

"Well I'm not a part of any faction, I do belong to a family of merchants though."

"So you just came here to do trade?" she asks reaffirming her question

"Yes I try to trade with any supernatural people whenever I get the chance"

Yasaka lets out a sigh while facepalming.

"What's wrong," I ask Yasaka

"You do realize that there is a procedure when selling stuff to factions right?" she says removing her hand from her face slowly

"No this is the first time I have ever heard of it I have never had issues trading and selling with the supernatural so far"

"Yeah, trading with other supernaturals wouldn't be much of an issue if they aren't above mid class, do you even know who you are trying to sell your merchandise to?" Yasaka asks curious

"Are you not a yokai?" I ask trying to pretend to not know who she is

Yasaka doesn't seem to know how to respond to my answer. She suddenly starts giggling to herself.

yasaka turns to the other yokai

"Do we have time to squeeze in a 30 min session" she asks the other yokai

The male looks over his clipboard "if we skip your 15 minute break you should be able to fit it today."

"Perfect, you can let the others know that the meetings have been pushed back, see you in half an hour." she turns over to me suddenly

"Follow me to the meeting room. It's not too far away from here. we can discuss your merchandise there" Yasaka says

She starts walking beside me taking me to the meeting room

"Alrighty, then Ms…" I ask. I need to act like I don't know her.

"It's Yasaka, leader of the yokai faction and ruler of Kyoto you can just call me Yasaka no need for special titles," she says with a grin on her face

"Um I'm not sure if I heard you right, the wind must have been too loud," I ask trying to sound scared

"I'm Yasaka, leader of the yokai faction and ruler of Kyoto" she repeats herself

"I did not expect for the first supernatural person I meet in Kyoto to be the leader of the yokai and Kyoto," I say with a shocked expression

Yasaka giggles

"Yeah, remember when I asked if you knew who you were selling to? This is why, with the friction between the factions any small thing like somebody from another faction visiting unannounced can start the next Great War" she says with a serious face

She suddenly sniffs the air, her eyes spaced out for a second while looking at me.

What was that about there's no way she is a yandere right? RIGHT?

Recollecting herself, Yasaka announces that we have arrived and slides the door open revealing a tatami room with a pretty big sitting table at the center.

I walk over to the right side of the table across from yasaka. We both sat down and sat quietly.

"So what is it that you sell?" Yasaka asks with a curious face

"My merchandise ranges from pills, potions, and enchantments. Is there anything, in particular, you are looking for Yasaka"

"Did you say potions?" Yasaka stands up instantaneously with a hopeful look in her eyes.

"Yeah I do have some potions they vary in what they do," i say

"Pls help me, save my daughter." Tears start to roll down Yasaka's eyes. "My daughter is sick with an unknown illness and has been bedridden for over a week. If this keeps up it could threaten her life." Yasaka is breaking down in tears

This was never mentioned in the dxd universe. Is this before she meets issei? Does this mean she recovers naturally without anybody intervening because she is alive in the show? I need to know how old she is so that I can find out when the cannon starts. If I remember right she was 12 or 13 when she met issei if I remember right

"Yasaka, is it fine if I see your daughter?" I say

"Why do you need to see my daughter," Yasaka asks while releasing a rage-filled aura around her

"It's not what you think. I need to confirm something before selecting the potion to give her. I'll also need to ask some simple questions like how old she is, what's her weight, does she normally get sick? This is important to select the right potion that won't be too strong for her to take" in reality I can give her a lvl3 cure potion and it won't be an issue this is just a way to verify how much longer until cannon starts

"I'll take you to her room, please save her life." Yasaka pleads

"I guarantee I can cure your daughter's life but I'm a merchant. I'm someone who believes a life has no price so instead of payment I want a favor that should be easy for a faction to help me with." I say

"What is this favor, just so you know you shouldn't ask for the impossible," Yasaka says sadly

"I'll tell you on the way there we shouldn't be wasting any more time."

Yasaka gets up and I follow her

"The favor would be child's play for you but would be a pain in the ass for me to do. I need a new identity with a solid background since I portaled here without applying to be in Japan. As far as Japan knows I'm a ghost." I say sheepishly

In reality, I need an identity when I apply to kuoh academy with a decent background to not look suspicious

Yasaka smiles a bit "if that's it I could get it done by tomorrow. You weren't lying when you said it would be child's play for us but a pain for you I can see why you would ask for a favor instead of money" she says giggling

We are walking down the hallway. I can sense the sadness increasing off of Yasaka the closer we get to kunou's room.

We Reach Kunou's room

Yasaka opens the door slowly

Peeking into the room I can see kunou waking up from her bed and slowly looking over at us

Kunou looks very pale and it looks like she lost a lot of weight

Her cheeks are slightly sunken in and her breathing is inconsistent. she looks to be on death's door

"Mother are you okay why are you crying," kunou says in a weak voice from her bed

I look over to see Yasaka bursting into tears

Something isn't right, would she have made it through this illness naturally? Did me being reincarnated here cause a shift in fate or was this a world similar but not exact to the anime? Does that mean that issei could possibly die during the world-ending events since this might be a divergence in timelines and not exact to the anime if I'm right? What happens if he doesn't get reincarnated by rias does that mean world-ending events like a third Great War or trihexas release won't be stopped by issei?

Yasaka freezes in place almost like a statue not being able to comprehend how much worse kunou has become

I start walking into the room. Walking past Yasaka and taking off my bag and pulling out a lvl3 cure potion

Lvl3 cure potion- will cure status ailments and illnesses to a certain extent

Taking off the torque from the bottle I lift kunou's head gently and tip the bottle to her lips.

"I need you to drink this, it'll help you feel better," I say in a sad tone

All I can do is hope this potion is strong enough to cure her illness, if not at the very least alleviate it.

Kunou finishes drinking the bottle. As soon as I lay her head back on the pillow I can see her face expression relax and her breathing return to normal.

"Thank you I feel much better," she says with a bit more spirit in her voice

I pull out a lvl3 health potion from my bag

"I'll also need you to drink this, it'll help you," I say with a worried tone

She nods and lets me lift her head to have her drink the potion. She drinks the potion and immediately a little bit of color returns to her skin.

Yasaka breaks out of her shock and walks over to kunou. Yasaka gets on her knees and hugs kunou. Yasaka starts sniffling a bit

"I'm so glad the potion worked. I thought I was going to lose you." Yasaka is saying in between sobs

"Mother I'm sorry I worried you so much." She started tearing up

"Who is the person who gave me that drink it made almost all of the pain go away," kunou said with curiosity and hope in her eyes

"His name is Reforge, a merchant, and your savior." Yasaka quietly speaks in between sobs

"She's not out of the woodworks yet Yasaka is it fine if I stay over for a couple of days to keep an eye on kunou," I say

"Yes, I'll have someone take you to the guest room in a bit, just give me a minute to recollect myself." She says while holding onto kunou

"I'll wait outside then," I say in a low voice

Slinging my backpack to my back I make my way to the door. leaving the room I hear kunou trying to reassure Yasaka that she is fine now.

If a lvl3 cure potion couldn't even cure her completely what are the chances that someone else would have saved her? Something isn't right. I feel like something isn't clicking. I need more information. There's really only one good place to confirm my suspicions. I need to wait till the cannon starts to see if the events have changed.

Waiting for what feels like an eternity outside. I hear someone run down the hallway.

"Yasaka … Yasaka, where are you." I hear a male voice scream as he walks closer to the room

As soon as he reaches the room I stop him from going inside

"Not now she isn't ready to leave," I say in a low voice

Seeming to understand what I mean he backs away from the door

"So what exactly happened after sent me to push back the meetings." The male yokai asks

"We talked about my merchandise but when I mentioned that I had potions she begged me to save her daughter. I don't really mind it but it's bothering me that a potion that should be four times as effective as my most basic cure potion couldn't heal her in one go. Can I ask how Kunou got sick?" I asked

The male yokai thinks for a second. nodding his head he starts speaking "it all started around four days before lady kunou got sick. Yasaka has been working for a long period of time dealing with foreign and internal affairs that were causing issues within the faction. She has been working almost non-stop for two weeks. Leaving kunou alone. Kunou was never a sociable child so nobody noticed she was alone most of the time. It's only when another yokai found her fainted in the hallway that the severity of her illness was brought forth. Every day since then her health has been deteriorating at a slow pace" He says

Raising my hand to my face I proceed to rub my chin

"It was weird to see her mood switch. I guess it comes with being a leader. You can't show your true emotions, it shows weakness." I say

"yeah she can't show that she is stressed and sad about kunou's illness the people will start to worry and the enemy will take advantage of the situation being a leader is a blessing and a curse at the same time." The Male yokai says

"That reminds me I asked Yasaka if I could stay in a guestroom to monitor kunou's health. She gave me the green light. Do you know where the guest rooms are?" I ask

"Yeah, the nearest guest room is actually just 2 doors to the left. I'll just take you there"

The yokai starts walking. I start walking next to him.

"I never actually got your name, what's your name? My merchant name is reforged" I ask the yokai

"My name is Kazuki" the male yokai says

Reaching the guest room he opens the door to glance at the room. My guess is to check if it has been cleaned. Kazuki turns around

"Just had to make sure the room was in acceptable condition." He says with a serious expression

"Alrighty, then I'll be working on a high-grade cure potion for a while, if you need me knock on the door as hard as you can without breaking it. I might be busy and won't hear from you. Under no circumstances are you to open the door. Anything that can go wrong in the process can destroy my efforts. I want to minimize my chances of failure and if possible let Yasaka know if you get the chance." I say while stressing the cautious point.

I need to make sure that when I connect my gate to the door they don't open it and see my headquarters. It could spell trouble if unwanted eyes were to see it.

I can see a sweat drop forming on Kuzuki's face.

"Yeah, I'll make sure Yasaka knows as soon as she leaves kunou's room." Kazuki nods and starts walking back to kunou's room

"Thank you, I'll see you around," I say sincerely

Kazuki turns over slightly and nods in agreement and starts walking away again

Was that a yaoi moment? Why did he look so good while doing that? That's it, I think I have finally lost it. I need to get some rest, dealing with this has put too much stress on me.

Connecting the guest door to my headquarters I open the door. Walking into the workshop I take a deep breath.

"I have a long road ahead of me time to get started," I say with determination

A/N it's been a long time all I can say is sorry I have been busy. I have been coming in and out of writing these past 3 weeks. Good news though now that I have time for these next 3 weeks I'll try to get 3 weeks of consistent upload Thanks for sticking around.
