When traversing between worlds, there are many methods one uses to traverse between them. For those with the keyblade, they can extend their keyblades power to create armor and a vehicle to traverse between worlds. Other forms of vehicles come in such forms like the Gummi ships that have been noted from the Disney Castle world, but others can traverse between different worlds through the means of special portals. Some use Doorways of Darkness, for those whose hearts align with Darkness, while some could use Doorways of Light, for those whose hearts align with the Light… But in another world, special items can help take travelers to places just as easily...

Chapter 1: Welcome to the Underground

When Chloe stepped through the portal with Rick, she did not know what to expect when she stepped through. In her mind she knew that the world she came from was being left behind, and a new world somewhere among the stars awaited her and Rick… Little did she know that when they stepped through, they would also be falling down…

The fall was luckily not a long one, but the moment they landed on the ground both Rick and Chloe were groaning in pain despite the somewhat soft landing of what appeared to be a bed of flowers. Chloe slowly began to sit up as she asked, "Does that usually happen when you go through a portal?" "No… At least not that I remember." Rick would comment back as he began to sit up next to her. "When I came to your world I just stepped out from one end, and was still on the ground." The two began to stand up together and took this moment to look around when they realized the cave they were in. The portal above had disappeared moments earlier, a light coming from the hole above where it seemed that the drop would be a lot further down if anybody actually fell from the very top. "I am going to assume we came out half way down this cavern." Rick would say as he took a look around, noting that the area around them seemed almost like ruins as a small corridor led down a path. "Not exactly the amazing start of an adventure I thought we would have but… At least it seems safe around here." Chloe would say as she was examining the flowers, before hearing Rick beginning to step towards the open corridor. "Looks like a doorway down here, maybe there's more to this place." When Chloe heard him, she quickly got up and rushed over to catch up with Rick. When they approached the large doorway, they took a moment to notice the ruins above the doorway, Three triangles making up the body for what looked like an angel, for a circle was above them along with what could be described as a pair of wings. "Wonder what that symbol is supposed to mean." Chloe spoke as they began to walk through the doorway, "Might be a symbol for the world, or something." Rick replied as the next area they entered was more wide open it looked, ruin and cave ground around with a patch of grass in the center. They couldn't help but notice how light up the place seemed as they looked up at the different stones in the upper walls and ceilings. "Those… Crystals must give off some sort of light." Rick spoke as he continued to look around for a moment. "They're kind of pretty." Chloe would say as she continued to look upon them. "Yes, quite pretty aren't they?" The two suddenly turned and looked at the source of the voice that just spoke, however they could not help but stare at… A flower with a Face.

"Did… That come from the flower?" Chloe asked as she looked at Rick for a second. "Gold star for you, of course it came from me, I'm right here you know!" The two took a step when they heard the flower speak again, it looked annoyed for a moment before speaking up again with a smile. "Hi! My name is Flowey! Flowey the Flower!" "Um… Hi… Flowey." Rick spoke with what could be described as uncertainty, it made him wish he had his memory in case he encountered something like this before. "My my, you two seem pretty lost. Well! Welcome to the Underground!" "The Underground?" Chloe questioned this time as it seemed like an odd name. "So this isn't like, Flower town or something?" Once again Flowey looked a tad annoyed despite the chuckle he let out. "No no no, this area is simply called the Ruins, but it's all part of the larger place which we Monsters call, the Underground." That caught their attention a little as Chloe moved a little closer to Flowey, "Wait so, you're a monster?" "Hmmmmmmmm sort of. I'm what you would call, complicated. But yes, Monsters, the whole Underground is inhabited by Monsters of all different shapes, sizes and species!" Flowey explained as he moved his body around a little as he spoke. "What about humans?" Chloe would ask as Flowey perked his body up. "Huh? Nope, no humans, everybody knows that there are no humans inside Mt. Ebott. Just us Monsters!" "Oh well, we um… Didn't realize that…" Chloe gave a nervous laugh as her eyes went to Rick, who reassured her with a smile. "Well, I would say everybody knows there are no humans inside the Underground, but I mean there are you two, and the other Child." The two suddenly turned to Flowey when they heard that, "Other child? You mean there's a child down here?" Rick asked as Chloe even looked around the area, even behind where they came from incase there was another human around. "Oh yes, a short stack with a striped shirt and shorts. They were here not too long ago, but they went along with the Old Goat woman that visits here every now and then. They're probably safe… Probably." Hearing that, didn't seem to make things better for the two as they looked at eachother. "Well, if you tell us where they had gone off to, we'll go along and check this place out, hopefully find this other Human."

"Ah ah ah! Wait right there!" Flowey spoke out to Rick. "I could tell you where they went, but where would the fun of that be? First off, you need to know how things work around here. There are rules you know." "There are?" Chloe and Rick almost spoke in tune, with Chloe being more curious and Rick sounding as if he was a little suspicious of Flowey. "Yes indeed! For example!" Suddenly everything seemed to almost flash around them, as Rick and Chloe looked around and even at themselves to see nothing seemed to have changed, which seemed to have shocked Flowey. "Huh? Where are your Souls?" "Our Souls?" Rick asked as he glanced at Flowey, "Well yeah! Usually by now when a monster comba- communicates LOVE to a human or a human to a Monster, usually your Soul would appear…" He seemed to try and focus and once again everything seemed to flash around them for a moment, before Rick and Chloe felt like something was emerging from their being. When they looked down, they saw a symbol appearing on their chests in the shape of a heart. "There!" That caught Rick's attention as he took a step back, "Our hearts… But, not how they should be…" "Those are your Souls." Flowey would begin to explain as he smiled at the two. "And we monsters love to give other people's Souls our LOVE… Here, let me show you." When he spoke, a few pellets suddenly appeared near Flowey. "Have some Friendliness Pellets."

The moment said pellets started to rush towards Rick, he quickly moved out of the way. "No… That's not what you're supposed to do, you're supposed to absorb the Friendliness Pellets into your Soul. Here, you try." Flowey would then send a few towards Chloe, who took to what Rick did and dodged out of the way. "I don't think we're going to be absorbing anything with those things Flowey…" When Chloe spoke, she realized that Flowey began to grow a little menacing as he spoke, "You fools, stop dodging and just take the bullets!" He shot two straight towards Rick, who summoned his Keyblades into his hands to block the said Pellet Bullets. "You- You have a weapon!? No fair!" Flourishing his keyblade, Rick smiled at the shocked Flowey when he spoke, "As fair as tricking us into thinking you're trying to help us? Sorry, but if I were you, I'd watch it before you'd get taken out by the root." That almost seemed to shake Flowey as he shook his head. "Don't think this is the end you two! I'll be back!" With that, the flower quickly burrowed into the ground to escape any sort of fate the two may have planned. With the flower now gone, Rick dematerialized his keyblades with a sigh, "A talking Flower, and now this." When he looked down, he saw that the heart symbols on their chests had disappeared. "I guess that was this world's way of showing our Hearts…" "Our hearts?" "Yeah…" Rick would reply to Chloe as he smiled to her, "Our hearts, what makes us who we are, though I suppose a Soul is another way to put it… Anyway, let's hope that others around here aren't as… Violent as that flower." Rick would say as he began to walk, Chloe was remaining still before calling out to him "Wait, but he said this place was filled with monsters!" "And if they can talk like him, who's to say that they may or may not be friendly!?" Chloe couldn't help but agree silently before she rushed to catch up with Rick.

They had passed through a similar doorway from earlier that led to the room Flowey was in, the next area having more columns and brick like walls around that made it seem more like it was a form of Ruins. The ground was a little softer with what appeared to be some flowers, leaves and vines growing from different areas. They went up a short stairway that led towards another door, but as they looked around it didn't seem like anybody was around currently. "For a place called the Underground to be filled with monsters, I expected to see some…" "Probably deeper inside." Rick would reply to Chloe on her observation. When looking through the doorway at the top of the stairs, it looked as if it led into another small room, that was looking like a puzzle room that was already solved since the next door was open. "I'm gonna guess… That this place was made as some sort of dungeon puzzle trap thing that people would have to go through." Rick observed as the two looked at one another. When passing through and looking into the larger room with what looked like waterways and bridges, they could see switches on the walls and at the end of the path, another completed puzzle. "This seems… Inefficient…" Now Chloe observed as she looked at the switches, and as they walked over the bridge her eyes wandered to the entrance at the end of the path. "I mean, why not a ward or something that would reset the trap after a set time? Did they not think about this?" "I… Don't think so." Rick would respond, as they continued to walk. It seemed pretty calm in the world around them, they couldn't help but notice they were being watched by creatures hiding in some of the piles of leaves that were brushed to the sides of some parts of the ruins. "I guess… Two humans would seem a bit odd." "Yeah but maybe because we're older than this child that came here…" Chloe would say after Rick, as they continued onward down corridors and passing by all sorts of different creatures that looked like either a frog, a weird bug or other forms.

For whatever reason it seemed like that areas in the Ruins that were meant as some sort of Puzzle trap rooms, were already solved for one reason or another, and it begged the question of how long ago were these puzzles solved? Was it quite recently? Or some time ago? "You know…" Chloe began to speak as she stopped, and turned to see a frog creature having been following them. "Something tells me they're just as curious about us as we are of them." When Rick turned to look back at the Frog Chloe was staring at, he caught a glimpse of a few of the bug creatures also moving aside before they quickly moved away. He gave a nod to Chloe, and turned around to call out to them. "Hey! You don't have to hide!" He'd call out as Chloe would join in, "Yeah, we're not like adventurers looking for buried treasures or to slay monsters for glory or anything! We heard there was another human here, do you know of them!?" It was then that the monster's perked up from their calls, and that was when a few of the frog-like creatures hopped closer towards them. "You're… Not here to kill us?" One of them would ask, to which Chloe knelt down to say, "Nope, I mean not unless you were to try and attack us… We met a flower earlier that tried to, but we scared him away." The frog shook a little at the mention of the flower, "That flower I think is bad news… He pops around a lot of times, and I hear he can go outside of the ruins to the rest of the Underground too." Hearing that, Rick couldn't help but look over to Chloe before asking, "So there's more than just these Ruins?" "Oh yes, the Underground is a huge huge place! But we don't go outside the ruins…" "Alright… You wouldn't also happen to know anything about a um… Goat woman perchance? Or any other humans?" The frog gave what could be described as an affirmative hop when it spoke, "Oh yes! The Monster you speak of, is Lady Toriel. And we actually saw her a day or so ago with a human child that fell down here!" "They fell from that high up!?" Chloe sounded shocked when she recalled how deep the hole looked from back where they came from. "Well yeah, that's the only known entrance to the Underground… Except for… Huh!?" They heard what sounded like footsteps coming towards them from around the corner from the direction they were heading. The moment Rick and Chloe turned to see what was coming, they looked back and the small monsters they were speaking with were gone. "Well, that's not good." Rick suddenly stood up and was ready to materialize his keyblade, as was Chloe when she stood up. As for who came around the corner, was a shocked Toriel that saw not one, but two humans in the Ruins. "Oh my!" She was a tall goat woman of a monster, with her fur just about as white as snow. "Oh dear, I did not expect that other humans would be coming for the Child… You are… Here for the child, aren't you?" Rick and Chloe would look at eachother, and it was when they relaxed their stance that Toriel took notice of it and their expressions. "Oh dear me, you two must not be here for her then. I did not expect that other humans would follow suit after such a short time." "We didn't even know others came here… Um, you wouldn't happen to be whom the other Monsters call, Lady Toriel, are you?" Rick would ask, to which Toriel gave a heartwarming smile as she spoke. "Yes indeed, I am Toriel, caretaker of the ruins. You two young ones must have gotten lost when you fell down here… Why don't you come with me? I can make a delicious pie that we could share." "A pie… Um ok." Chloe would say as she took a step closer, but then stopped as she felt like she had to ask, "Not um, Human flavor is it?" "What? Oh no! No no no my child! It would be something like Cinnamon or Butterscotch." "Oh! Oh okay… Sorry just we um, heard about the child that was supposedly with you... " Chloe felt so embarrassed at that, as she gave a light chuckle, "Um… Where are they anyway?" Toriel's expression changed then as she turned her gaze away, looking rather sad as she spoke saying, "Their… Probably trying to make their way home right now to the Surface… But I'm afraid their journey will be a trying one…"
