Chapter 19- The Return Of The Nefarious Doctor
Bunnie mentally prepares herself to fight Jet, to prove her worth as a member of the Resistance. "Among the new recruits, I haven't contributed as much as expected for me. But, here I will be right here and now!"
Bunnie and Jet sprinted at each other, Bunnie started off firing lasers directly from the palm of her hand at Jet. The hawk narrowly avoids it and in short takes the fight mid-air, with Jet as victorious using various manoeuvres. Bunnie was the first to land on the ground and dropkicks Jet right after, who manages to block it at the last second. Bunnie fires her lasers at point-blank range and slightly grazes Jet's forehead.
Jet touches his forehead, feeling a slight touch of blood from that area. "I admit…your skills aren't bad, but your choice of offence won't be effective on him."
Close by them, G-23 has Rouge force to guard its rapid barrage of attacks, in addition to tracking down her movements and evading Rouge's assault as it approaches the Gizoid with minimal effort. In spite of that, Rouge does have one trick up her sleeves. Having previous understanding of the Gizoid's ability to adapt and copy their opponent's abilities, skills and techniques, she slowly takes back the momentum of the fight. Rouge constantly switches her fighting style every five minutes, dragging the fight into a standstill hit struggle. Both are trying their hardest to overwhelm the other to gain the upper hand.
With the fires of her determination burning ever so bright, Rouge exclaims towards her opponent. "I won't endure another humiliating defeat!"
Meanwhile upon trading blows, Bunnie and Jet both fall back from each other. Jet, with his extended feathers from his elbows, slashes open Bunnie's non-cybernetic shoulder while she hits him in the face with her fist.
Jet bounces back, taunting Bunnie. "Your efforts to defeat me are fruitless, little bunny."
Bunnie retorts back to Jet's comment. "Even so, I gotta try anyway!"
Unamused with her answer, Jet enthusiastically avoids two laser beams that Bunnie sends at him. He takes his eyes off Bunnie for a moment, allowing her to place her hand on the ground. A few energy tendrils wrap themselves on Jet's arms and legs, immobilising him in the process. Bunnie hammers her fist directly into Jet's face, creating a mini crater in the ground.
With Kazoku's fight with Espio, he peers back at the stone pillar, where Espio was crashed into. Kazoku finds him gone and tries to detect his movements by using his heightened senses. Espio dons both his Chroma Camo and Ninja Arts: Camouflage first to hide himself completely from his enemy's perception while increasing his speed, and secondly to warp between places to disorient his enemy as he attacks them. Kazoku after some time finds Espio and ducks under Espio's kunai strike and kicks Espio in the stomach. Espio notices Kazoku's red slit-like eyes, as he has focused his energy to enhance his sense of hearing and sight to keep up with his opponent's imperceivable movements.
Rouge and G-23 fall back to recover, causing G-23 to lose its concentration for a brief second. This allows Rouge to land a solid blow on the Gizoid, nevertheless like a bullet out of a gun is pushed back quite far by an enhanced backhanded punch.
As Rouge's body crashes across the ground, she begins to bleed from her head. "No…not like this…ha…ha…ha. Bring it, you damn Gizoid!"
The two were about to enter in one final exchange of blows, before a voice from G-23 neutral system
"G-23, retreat for now. All available data has been collected". As G-23 suddenly runs over to the shadows. Rouge tries to chase it, but her heavy wounds finally take their toll and collapses on one knee.
The damage from Bunnie's punch greatly injures her opponent, shocking Jet to some degree. "If I didn't move my neck and hips just before the damn bunny hit me at the last second to disperse the impact of the punch, I would have been knocked unconscious." Bunnie prepares to finish off the fight, but Jet uses a smoke bomb to escape.
Before he makes his leave, he briefly glares at Kazoku. "One day, you and the rest of Chronos will pay for what you had done to Wave and Storm!"
In the meantime, Kazoku punches the off guard chameleon into a stone pillar and tries to capitalise with another punch, Espio narrowly evades the punch as the two barrage each with rapid-fire punches.
Deep in their thoughts, both Espio and Kazoku shout out at the exact time. "I must take him down for my family/comrades!" While firing an endless flurry of punches, kicks and slashes meant to knock down the other here and now.
Ecstatic with Espio's persistence and performance, Kazoku expresses something he only shows to those he views as strong. "Espio the Chameleon, you are one of my strongest opponents. So it would be sad for it to end here." Kazoku stops the fight mid-way, confusing Espio as he vanishes away into a portal using a device that holds a prototype version of the Phantom Ruby.
After the fighting concludes, Espio and Bunnie help out Rouge. The group took the innocent citizens and directed them to their aircraft carrier to send them to the haven.
Meanwhile in an abandoned warehouse, Dr. Eggman is seen having resided in the area. He is rebuilding his Egg Dragoon that fought back Infinite once he broke his trust of their alliance, as G-23 returns back from his battle with Rouge the information surrounding Rouge, Bunnie, Kazoku fighting styles into its system. Sage, one of Dr. Eggman's newest creations and his foster daughter has been helping rebuild his empire and Metal Sonic. Dr. Eggman recalls his last talk with Infinite that after six months has passed, in approximately one month's time his enemies will be wiped out by his master plan. "We don't have much time to counter back."
Sage walks to her "father", with a solution to their problem. "I propose one option of success, but it may not be one you will be satisfied with."
