Chapter 20- The Unbreakable Armadillo Or The Crazed Electrical Tenrec?
At Sunset Heights, a quaint downtown area that has since been besieged and destroyed by Chronos's forces, turning it into an all-out war zone. Vector and his squad were sent there for a rescue mission, except they were stopped by the one causing all the chaos. That being Surge the Tenrec, an anthropomorphic tenrec who had been cybernetically enhanced by the villainous Dr. Starline and her companion Kitsunami the Fennec. With no memories of her past, She was made for the sole intended purpose of destroying Sonic the Hedgehog and replacing him as the hero of the world. Even so, after discovering the secret of her origin, Surge would begin seeking revenge on everyone she blames for her past life being taken away from her.
Vector takes note of how their mission has gotten worse, and turns to his squad. "Rescue as many as you can, while I hold he…"
Surge blitzes Vector before the latter can complete his sentence, delivering a powerful right straight punch towards Vector's lower torso. The impact of Surge's punch sends sparks of electricity around Vector, and electrifies his entire body which stuns him for a moment. Vector hits Surge's guard with a mighty right hook, with Surge's arms slightly shaking from the impact of the attack.
Surge begins to emit electricity from her body, grinning wildly. "That was a strong hit, crocodile!"
Surge unleashes a quick burst of electricity that blasts Vector in a couple of buildings, reaching his location in no time. She proceeds to hold him by the neck, expecting more from Vector. Before Surge finishes Vector, Mighty arrives to save him while overflowing with energy as he is already in his Full Armoured Released state once hearing the severity of Vector's mission.
Surge let's go off Vector, stepping on his chest. "And who the hell are you supposed, me?"
Mighty lightly chuckles and cracks his knuckles, as he makes his way towards Surge. "I am the one who is going to defeat you!"
The two argue amongst each other for some time, before at last coming into an agreement.
Mighty explains the winning conditions for him and Surge. "If I win, then you would have to join us. If you (Surge) win, then you would have the permission to kill me, as a reward for beating me."
Mighty starts up the fight and throws out a supercharged right hook that gets through Surge's guard, as she tries to block it. Mighty punches Surge with enough force to send her crashing across multiple buildings. Just as Surge regains her balance, Mighty closes the distance with a quick Spin Dash and swings his legs backward in an unconventional attempt to dropkick Surge's head. Surge bends backward to avoid the kick, which hits the broken debris of the building Surge crashed into making Mighty lose his balance momentarily.
Surge's nose was grazed and made to bleed slightly as well, however she grins with excitement. "HAHAHA…YOU'RE SOMEONE WORTH KILLING!"
Mighty is just barely able to ignore Surge's electricity-based energy trait due to his hardened exterior and increased physicality, as Surge is fascinated by Mighty's supercharged strength. Mighty's body begins to ache, as he has used his Full Armoured Released state twice in a day, leaving Surge open to attack and she takes advantage with a left head kick, right punch, and clinch knee combo.
Surge notices that Mighty isn't resisting and expresses her displeasure. "C'mon! Don't disappoint me, armadillo!"
Mighty interrupts with a hard right straight to Surge's jaw, sending him flying. After assuming a sharp battle stance, Mighty follows up with a feint e.g., Homing Attack and lands a flying knee while his opponent is still reeling.
Surge backflips to recover her foothold, smiling like a crazed maniac while blood drips from her face. "YES! MUCH BETTER!"
Surge grabs Mighty's leg and slams his body to the ground, delivering a spinning elbow to Mighty's jaw right after whilst lifting his leg to keep him off balance. However, Mighty withstands the attack and slams his leg back down, forcing Surge backward and creating a large crater in the ground. Surge backs away and as an offset of her electromagnetic propulsion, Surge generates enough electricity from within her body and releases an electrical discharge attack that somewhat burns Might's left arm. Surge plans to take advantage and dashes back in to pile on damage but Mighty attacks first, kicking Surge in the face.
Surge is sent back, surprised her opponent would counterattack in such a situation. "Regardless, it's too late to resist any further!"
She then looks up to see Mighty throwing a left hook with his slightly burned left arm. Surge is surprised by her opponent again and blocks the attack. "Is it because…you could heal yourself, huh?"
On the other hand, Mighty "I could heal my wounds at the Resistance rejuvenation chamber, so I don't care if I lose a limb as long as I defeat Surge!"
Adrenaline pumps through Mighty's veins, as Surge "That damn armadillo is…a monster! He won't give up even if he has no more limbs left!"
Surge gives off a wicked grin at her opponent. "GOOD, KEEP GOING! LET'S CONTINUE OUR BATTLE!"
Mighty replies back with confidence. "The life of a hero always comes with its risks, huh. Let's keep this dance of ours going!"
The two of them re-engage in hand-to-hand combat. Surge's tremendous durability and electromagnetic propulsion innate ability, makes it simple for her to outmanoeuvre and overpower Mighty. She then delivers several rapid-fire punches and palm strikes imbued with her electromagnetic propulsion that go undefended and land direct hits to Mighty's head and body. Mighty tries to counter with a punch but Surge parries his arm away, only suffering a small scuff to her cheek. While holding Mighty's arm with her left hand, Surge also chops her opponent in the forehand. Then Surge spins around Mighty's back and delivers a spinning elbow to his neck, seemingly knocking Mighty unconscious.
Two top tier fighters going back and forth in an intense death match. which one will prevail as the winner? Find out in the next chapter.
