Once the two dragon slayers arrived at Rouge's house, Sting flopped down on the couch. "I haven't been over here in a while," Sting says, looking over at Rouge.
"Yeah, you've been kinda distant lately," Rouge pouts, sitting down beside him.
"Taking over the guild has put a lot of work on me," Sting sighs, laying his head in Rouge's lap.
Rogue blushed a bit at this and ran his hand through Sting's hair, "your hair is so soft."
"I know," Sting grins, grabbing Rogue's other hand in his. "Hey Rouge, why did you insist on coming to your place?"
"Because everytime we hang out, we always go to your place. Maybe I just wanted to spend time with you, my best friend, at my place."
"Yeah…we are best friends…" Sting mutters, pulling his hand away and sitting up. "Anyways, I'm hungry. What do you plan on making?"
"Oh, right." Rouge chuckles, nervously. He stands up, "I'll go see what I have." Rouge walks into the kitchen, sighing to himself. Did he mess up? Did he say something wrong? He doesn't know what but something told him to go back over there and kiss him but…he knew Sting wouldn't like that…they're just friends, right? Sting obviously doesn't care about him that way, not after what just happened.
Sting sighed and laid down on the couch, did Rogue really see them as just friends? Did Rogue not feel the pull towards him like he does? Why did he act that way? Sure, it hurt when Rouge called him just a friend but he didn't have to react in that way! He was really enjoying laying in Rouge's lap! Rouge's hand running through his hair felt so good! "Find anything?"
"Yeah, I'm gonna throw together a stew, it shouldn't take too long." Rogue says, grabbing the ingredients.
"Sounds good," Sting nods, turning on the TV, not sure what he should do about the situation.
"Hey Sting," Rogue says, turning towards him. "I know you're the guild master now but I was thinking, maybe we could go on a job sometime? If you can't find the time, that's completely understandable!"
"A job? I'm sure I could work something out, it's been a while since I've been on a job," Sting says, smiling to himself.
Rogue nodded, "awesome, we'll need to let Lector and Frosch know!"
"Speaking of them, where are they?"
"Um, I don't know…" Rouge mutters, "I can call Gajeel to see if they're hanging out with Lily, the three of them seem to get along."
Sting growls, "and why would you call him? You can find out where they are without that iron head!"
"Woah, calm down…" Rogue mutters, pulling out his lacima, "he's our friend!"
Sting glared at Rogue, "whatever."
Rogue frowned but dialed Gajeel's number anyways, 'hey Gajeel, do you have a minute?'
'Not really, Levy ran off and I have to find her before someone gets their hand on her!'
'It'll only take a minute, but also, you're being very possessive over Levy, is it that season again? Neither Sting nor I have been affected. Anyways, I'm off topic, um is Lector and Frosh with Lily? We can't find them.'
'No, Lily is at the house, and no it's not that season damnit! Lily accused me of the exact same thing! Shut up!' Gajeel growls, hanging up the phone so he could find Levy.
Rogue sighs, "no luck, they aren't there." He says, taking two bowls over to the couch, "should we go look for them?"
"No, they can take care of themselves," Sting reassures Rogue, although there was a hint of anger in his words. "I heard you mention something about the season, it's not that time again, is it?" He picks up his bowl and starts to eat.
"I don't know for sure, Gajeel was being possessive about Levy from what I could tell from the phone but I don't think it's affected us and normally if one dragon slayer is affected, all dragon slayers are affected." Rogue shrugs.
"I wouldn't worry too much about it," Sting shrugs, glancing over at Rogue, was he being affected? Was he Rogue's mate? No, he couldn't be. They're both dragon slayers, would that even be possible? Ugh, he wishes he had the answers, it just makes him want to scream! Nothing makes sense to him right now, so many thoughts of Rogue, The Season, the guild, everything! He needed to get away, "Rogue…let's go on a job…right now! I need a break."
"Um…" Rogue pauses, "how about we go in the morning? Don't you have loose ends to tie up at the guild first anyways? We don't want to make such a rash decision."
"Why are you stalling? Is there someone else you're wanting to go on a job with? Like Gajeel!"
"Gajeel is in a different guild! That doesn't even make sense! Sting, what has gotten into you?"
"Nothing, just forget it," He growls, walking out and slamming the door behind him. He made his way to the train station, he didn't want to take a train but Lector isn't here so he doesn't exactly have a choice. He can't have Gajeel standing in the way of Rogue. Rogue probably just used his 'possessiveness over Levy' as a lie so that I wouldn't think something was going on…well he's wrong!
Sting got on the train and immediately frowned, "this is a really bad idea…" As he rode the train, he sighed, he didn't realize how late it was…Was Rogue looking for him? He didn't really say much when he stormed out, would Rogue be mad at him? Would they still go on a da-job? Sting stopped himself, what was he thinking? Going on a job isn't the same thing as a date!" Sting groaned, if it was The Season, Rogue would find his mate soon and he doubts it's him, why would it be? Rogue called him his best friend earlier! That's all they are; are friends…
Once the train finally arrives in Fiore, Sting dashes off the death trap and leans against the wall to calm his stomach before continuing on the way to Gajeel's place and maybe find Lector and Frosh while he's at it.
Sting pounded on Gajeel's door, "hey Metal Head! Open up!"
"God, you sound like Natsu," a very tired and angry Gajeel says, opening the door, "what do you want?"
"Are you experiencing The Season?" Sting asks, crossing his arms.
"Why does everyone keep asking me that?" Gajeel grumbles to himself, "no, I'm not. Can I go back to sleep now?"
"One more thing, stay away from Rogue!"
"What? I barely even talk to him! Leave me alone!" Gajeel grumbles, slamming the door shut.
"Who was at the door?" Levy asks, rubbing her eyes.
"No one, just an idiot." Gajeel says, grabbing Levy's hand in his, "let's just go back to bed." Levy nods and follows Gajeel back to bed, glancing back at the door, wondering who was at the door.
Sting grumbles under his breath, making his way back towards the train. Lector and Frosh completely slipped his mind as he got back on the train, making his way back to Gazania, back home. The train ride didn't seem as long this time, he had a lot on his mind. He could smell Levy in there with Gajeel so…maybe he had nothing to worry about?
He got back into Gazania and made his way back to Rogue's place, hoping Rogue wasn't too mad at him. "Hey Rogue," Sting says, walking inside.
"Where the fuck did you go? I was fucking worried!" Rogue exclaims, walking over to Sting and pulling him into a tight hug.
"Sorry, I had to take care of something."
"What was with that outburst earlier?" Rogue asks, stepping back.
"Um, I had a lot on my mind and I got overwhelmed but I'm fine now."
"Sting…it's late, why don't you just stay here and we can talk about going on that job in the morning, yeah?"
"Alright," Sting nods, yawning. "Let's go to sleep."
"Yeah, come on." Rogue nods, the both of them heading to the bedroom. The two of them didn't even think about what they were doing and just climbed into the bed, laying down beside each other. "Sting…I got really worried when you ran out like that. Don't just leave without saying something next time, okay?"
"Don't worry, I won't do that again," Sting says, softly. He wrapped his arm around Rogue and fell asleep, exhausted from the last few hours. Rogue laid in bed, cuddling up next to Sting. He didn't think anything of it though, it felt natural to him, like this was meant to be…
