Chapter 5: Misfits:

Rudolph's POV:

Santa did make me feel a little better, but I still wished I could fit in.

"That sure was nice of Santa," says a voice. A head then popped out of the ground. I was so freaked out, I started stomping on the head.

"Oh, sorry," I said.

"It's okay," says the head. He then gets out a tooth. "Wow, I pulled my first tooth and it's mine! I'm Hermey and I'm a dentist... well, I want to be. The other elves turned their backs on me!"

"The reindeer treat me like a freak," I said.

"So, we're both misfits," says Hermey, "we can be misfits together!"

"Yeah," I said.

Rudolph/Hermey: We're a couple of misfits

What's the matter with misfits?
That's where we fit in.

We're not daffy and dilly
Don't go 'round willy nilly
Seems to us kinda silly,
That we don't fit in.

We may be different from the rest
Who decides the test
Of what is really best?

Rudolph: Why am I such a misfit?
I am not just a nitwit!
I'm a dear of a reindeer
Why don't I fit in?

Hermey: Why am I such a misfit?

They can't fire me, I QUIT!
Seems I don't fit in

Rudolph/Hermey: We may be different from the rest
Who decides the test

"Hey, what does a dentist do," I asked.

"Well, we check peoples' teeth for starters," says Hermey.

There was a pause. "You're the one who ruined Stormella's ice sculpture those years ago, aren't you?"

"That's me," says Hermey.

Then we saw a guy driving a sleigh near us. "Woah!" He then stops. "I almost hit ya. The name's Yukon Cornelius and I'm prospecting for gold! Gold!"

"You mean there's gold around here," asks Hermey.

"Yeah, why don't you two come with me," asks Yukon Cornelius.

We then started moving, but we ended up too close to Stormella's path. "We almost got to Stormella's path," says Hermey.

"Whoops," says Yukon Cornelius, "good call! The last thing we need is to anger that frost giantess!" Then some ice under us broke and we ended up drifting away. "Well, maybe we can look for silver. Silver!"

"I thought you wanted gold," says Hermey.

"I changed my mind," says Yukon Cornelius.
