"Question everything, even yourself"

- Ah, that's better – James said as he was adjusting his body on a couch after swallowing a liquid from a small bottle that Lily poured into his mouth.

The rest of the people in the room were trying to be as much of a help for him as they could, and while they gave most of their attention to the older man, Harry was standing in a corner on the other side of the room as he watched with plenty of interest the scene.

- You got us all worried for a second James… We thought we were losing our leader to my crazy cousin – Sirius joked and James laughed.

- Don't worry about it… She can't destroy me even if she wants to – James said with a calm expression.

- Oh right… She was in love with you, right? – Any other woman would've been angry knowing another woman was after her husband but Lily actually felt that the situation was kind of funny.

- I'm not sure about her love… But there's one thing certain, she's still hurt because I chose you over her – James smiled at the redhead – That's why she's going to avoid killing me at all costs but only with one purpose… For me to witness the pain she might inflict on my loved ones… After all, that was her method during her auror days to catch criminals – Sirius nodded at what the older man with glasses said.

- Yes… I remember that person who tried to kill Narcissa… Bellatrix tortured his family until they confessed where he was hiding, I mean, she did her work but her methods didn't help her – Sirius sighed as he thought about his crazy family.

- If only the top dogs wouldn't have encouraged her behavior, maybe the story would be different now – James said and Sirius agreed with him.

The room remained in complete silence for a few moments, after all, this was a very complex talk but no one wanted to think of Bellatrix as some kind of victim of society, if she was in this state it was by her own and no one but she can be blamed for her current situation.

- Well… Let's not talk about awful stuff anymore, the important thing is that you're fine… You can't die before telling Harry what's going on – Sirius tried to change the topic and quickly all eyes in the room were focused on Harry, especially his parents' eyes.

- Oh right, there you are, I'm glad you two managed to come here safely – James smiled at his son.

And Harry remained in the same place with a stoic expression, this was a very foreign situation for him, this seemed like a dream or more like a nightmare as in just a matter of minutes his whole world and life changed just like that without any warning or anything to could help him to understand what was going on.

Suddenly Harry started to walk to get close to his parents, Lily was hanging on James' right arm, so, Harry took the chance to sit in front of them, and the other people who weren't related to the Potter family directly watched the interaction with complete interest.

Harry was such a mysterious person, if you look at him superficially, he may look weak or even worse stupid, of course, his look could tell you another story, and considering he managed to take Hermione down with just his gun, there was no point in denying that there was a fighting spirit inside him.

- I know you may have a lot of questions Harry… - James started with a serious expression.

- Yes… That's a very brief resume but yes… I still can't believe what's happening right now, I'm still waiting to see if I'm still dreaming, but this experience has lasted for more time than I can remember a dream can last so… I am here indeed with my head filled with a bunch of doubts – Harry managed to say with a calm but stoic expression.

- And we're going to try to answer as many questions as you have – Lily assured him.

And Harry didn't know how to feel about this, Even though they abandoned him with the Dursleys they didn't seem affected they hadn't even acknowledged that fact, and even after so many years he still wished to meet his parents… He always wondered what could he say to them, and now that it has become a reality.

He felt weird and even if he hated to admit it, he was kind of scared he knew he wasn't dealing with fake people because he remembered their faces from the pictures his aunt used to have of them before they died in that fire incident, their spoiled child ended being the one who caused the fire that killed them, what an irony.

- I need you two to understand something… All my life… I've been told since I was a kid that you two were dead – He confessed and Lily and James' eyes widened.

- What!? There's no way! – James was furious.

- We told Petunia that once the war ended we were going to get you back here, to live with us! – Lily couldn't believe it.

- Yeah well, my aunt had other priorities apparently, She told me you two were drug addicts that died of an overdose – Harry confessed with a sad expression.

And now Lily and James couldn't curse the Dursleys more even if they wanted to, may their spirits never find eternal rest.

- Why would she say that? Even if she doesn't like me, it doesn't make sense to hate you! – Lily was disappointed in her sister.

And James couldn't do any other thing than hug his wife before he could say some things that he could regret, this wasn't the right time to say what he really thought about this situation.

- It doesn't matter how much we blame and hate those people… That's what happened and it's impossible to change the past, so, here now begs the next question – Harry said with a serious expression – Why did you two abandon me? – Asked Harry with an expression full of confusion, anger, and sadness.

James and Lily couldn't help but gulp at hearing his tone and the expression he had at this moment, they looked at each other for a few moments before they nodded, this was the time it was needed to reveal the importance of the decisions that they took in the past and what could determine the future of this world.

- First of all… I'd like to apologize, it seems like you didn't have a good childhood, we never thought they could act like that – James said and Harry didn't change his expression.

- That's a bit of an understatement… It was hell and it ended just like hell, with tons of flames – Harry half joked and smirked.

- Yes… We heard their end wasn't a good one – Lily mumbled and Harry nodded.

- I know you have the right to hate us, but there's something that you need to know… We didn't want to leave you with them, to be honest – James confessed with an expression full of guilt.

And it was hard for Harry to hear those words, he felt as if they were making fun of him, he couldn't find a logical explanation for their decision, but still, even if he was getting angrier and angrier with each second that it passed, he decided to let his logical part control the situation, he decided to not let his emotions in the open, he needed to remember his training as a solder, to keep his calm in any moment.

- What!? Then why did you do that? – Harry tried to understand their decisions but this didn't make sense to him.

- To protect you – Lily confessed to him and he stared at her with a shocked expression.

- I know what you're thinking, so, let me tell you a quick resume of what things led us to make that decision, It will also help you to understand the current state of the magical world – James clarified his voice and he had Harry's complete attention.

The older man remained in silence for a few minutes as he tried to collect his ideas to get ready to explain to Harry what was going on.

- This world has been in danger for a very long time, there's a threat, something that cannot be stopped unless you're a certain person – James started – A few decades ago, a dark wizard rose from the bottom of the population, he gained followers and more power and you know what's his purpose? – James asked and Harry quickly denied the knowledge of such information – To clean the wizard population from impure people – James explained and Harry was a little confused.

- Who are the impure ones? Is there discrimination here? – Asked Harry surprised to know that, he thought magical people lived in harmony with nature just in those stories he heard about during his classes when he was a kid.

- Yes, but not in the same way as the same type of discrimination that you know Harry – Lily explained, She was more familiar with the way Harry knew the world – You see, in the world where you come from, the color of your skin, your wealth, your attractiveness… All those things play a role in how you can thrive or fail in life – Lily added and Harry nodded – It's almost the same here, but in this world, no one cares about the color of your skin… It's more about blood and lineage – She stared at him with a calm but serious expression.

Harry was surprised to hear that, he heard about similar cases in the muggle world, and one thing that comes to his mind is European royalty and their obsession with purity during the Middle Ages.

- But that's not all, it's about the ideas too… Some people may discriminate you because you don't think like them, and what's the reason for them to feel like that you must be wondering... – Lily said with a soft smile on her face and Harry nodded.

- Those people that advocate for blood purity… They're scared – James said bluntly and Harry felt confused – Something that you need to know Harry is that ever since old times, wizards have always believed they're superior to normal humans… Or muggles as we call them – James continued and Harry nodded adding a new word to his vocabulary.

- But during the last few decades, muggle-born wizards and witches have been on the rise and some of them are even able to outperform wizards and witches whose lineages can be traced back to the ancient days of magic when the wars ended and magical people finally started living as a society – Lily confessed and Harry nodded.

- So… They feel threatened by people like me? – Asked Harry with a surprised expression.

- No, not like you Harry, you're not in the same situation, After all, the Potter lineage descends from one of the ancient families, I know this is confusing but in the end, I'd like to see it in this way… Those people are only looking for an excuse to discriminate other people to show their supposed superiority – James added and Harry nodded.

He thought that by coming here he was going to find himself in a beautiful world that could only exist in his fantasy books, but it seemed like things were far more complex than that, he was thankful they were being honest with him, but frankly, Harry felt more confused right now than he was before he started asking questions.

- I know it's confusing Harry… But don't worry, you're going to get used to the ideas in this world little by little, this is something that can be demonstrated more with actions rather than words – Lily smiled at her son who stared at the two of them for a few moments before he nodded at them.

- So, once again… Can you continue telling me the reason why you left me with those people? – Harry was getting impatient.

Lily and James hated to be in this situation, but they needed to be careful with their words, if things didn't work this time, they were afraid they might lose Harry to the muggle world, or worse, join Voldemort's forces to increase his power.
