Chapter 2: Peace and troubles

She woke up after a long time of sleeping, checking her phone to which the hour marked it was 3:17 am, which was called the witch's hour. Though the light post outside her home gave enough light even through the dark and translucent curtains that hung from the wall. Nexts seemed to be gone for the night, either to do some work and deal with it outside the planet, or go into outer space for a drink at some old and wrecked alien bar. But with all that he could still be downstairs in the lab drinking and making some weird invention, but it didn't stop her, since once she woke it would take a bit of time to sleep once again, so going downstairs could take her mind off of some stuff and get her sleepy once again.

Heading into the closet she began to take the elevator down into the lab, and as it descended and made it to the glass tube the atmosphere was different, dim lights a few chunks of rock here and there, and lastly danger in a corner without a head, while Nexts rested on a workbench, Dangers head resting on a television dismantled from his body. Under a dim light a red machine, sort of like a recharge station for seven feet robots and with a window to see, though she could see perfectly inside it given her height from her anthro form. Though it was pitch black inside and the door was locked so it couldn't be opened, but a panel and keyboard were to the side of the chamber, this one having an old writing screen which seemed to be from between 1950's and 1990's. The screen showed a history of what appeared to be dimensions traveled recently, all pointing to an anime world that, probably, Nexts had called "Genshin Impact", but given it required a small sample of blood to use it she was hesitant on doing so, not really sure what to expect, would it make any noise? How much time would it require to work? Does it even work?

All of this questions were rapidly passing through her head, which just made her stomach sink and made her knees wobble from the nervousness that it generated, but alas she took a deep breath and after flinching several times she placed her index finger on the small scanner that it had placed near the mousepad. As soon as it began to scan her fingerprint, she felt a small pinch on her hand pad, as some blood was extracted and a sort of wristband was placed on her, as now the terminal began to write on the screen "what would you like to do?" As it showed a few option, select an existing world, create a new one, find one or delete one. It was impressive how it managed to write without creating a loud screeching sound as it did, which was a relief for her, now reading thoroughly through the options she selected the "create world" option. And thus the machine began to softly rumble before the door of the chamber opened up, showing a somewhat weird portal, being black, Well, almost black; and with some white light distortion on the sides.

The portal emmates no sound at all and the chamber continued to humm while it worked, getting close to it she began to feel how her shedded fur was being taken up by the portal, as well as her ears moving from the air being sucked inside. Her clothing was also moving at the vortex that was just created, though she got a bad feeling as she turned to look at Nexts, who was moving in his sleep, and in fear he might wake up she immediately jumped through the portal and into the unknown that she had just created.

What could be on the other side? Is she dead? Can she move? Is she already about to look at her body while her own soul was above it? All these questions were being created as she stepped inside. The chamber closes up and turns off while Nexts has dropped a hammer beside him and woke up, looking around and focusing his sight on the charge pod before returning to grab the hammer and wake up Danger by hitting his head.

—"Ow! Hey! Return me to my body! I've been asking you to do it all day!"— Danger exclaimed and demanded while he tried to move his head back and return to their body. Though Nexts stopped this by grabbing a wrench and smacking Dangers head, all whilst he kept sleeping, though his body seemed to be moving on it own. And after this Nexts woke up, grunting as he grabbed one of the many half-way alcohol bottles he had and began to chug down its contents, before passing out once again on the desk. The thud from his head hitting the metal table made it so some bottles fell and broke on impact with the ground.

Now there was a big question inside her head, where would she end up? For all she knows the place she's heading towards is now completely new and remotely from what she is used to, and given her nine lives as an anthropomorphic cat was a little concerning, given how many times Nexts has gotten her in danger and killed her as well, either because he felt like it or because the stuff he had planned didn't go as he wanted it to. Though she would always return to life after he was done, which had some disadvantages, he was unable to kill, he had god complexity and he is far more intelligent than anyone else, and yes, far more intelligent than Rick Sanchez.

But in any case she had finally made it out alive from the transportation process, as she had now found herself stood up on some sand, the brightness of the sun blinding her out for a second which made her stumble and trip forwards. With this she began to roll down a hill of sand until she reached the slope and a small digit between a few sand hills, to which she fell hardly onto the ground after finally stopping. With some groans and the sudden heat wave she got after entering. Her pajamas now being the best outfit for the moment given the immense heat and the really small shadow from another smaller sand dune near her.

With a few groans and a mouthful of sand as well as grains of it inside her clothing she stood up to her knees and spit out the sand, her tongue not being the best of much help given the spines it had and keeping stuff out from here would be hard. Now that she had adjusted to the light of the new area she began to crawl towards the small shadow and lay there for a little while, while she recovered from her fall and the slam against the ground, but with a few pants and a bit of looking she had now found herself in some badlands. Once the realization hit her the wristband began to vibrate, enough so that she lifted her arm and looked at it, feeling the movements even through her fur, the wristband soon began to make a small computer and the screen faced her before playing an audio.

—"Welcome to your own and personal world"— the machine said with a young and robotic voice programmed to it. —"It seems that you have found yourself in a bad situation. And given your health status you'll need someone to guide you"— responding as it showed her body on the screen and a red area where she had landed, as well as a small map of where she was. —"But don't worry, you'll get someone certified to help you travel through the dangerous circumstance you are facing right now"—, it said with what could've been a cheerful tone before this one began to make fax noises and spit out something into the sand. Upon closer inspection, whatever it was flung out of the device had now made its way into the dune in front of her, and now the grains of sand began to roll down before a small human figure with a suit and a top hat emerged from the dune. Turning around to see where it was and the situation it was in, it couldn't help it but let out a loud and high pitched scream, to which she covered her ears and kicked sand in its way.

Getting pushed down by the sudden sand ball from her, it stopped the screaming and teleported itself towards her, getting on her shoulder and beginning to talk like Nexts, almost as if he was now there with her. —"What do you think you're doing? I just emerged from the device and you kicked sand on me?"— He sighed and gave a disapproving shake of his head, —"Don't you realize I also have feelings?"— It asked as it began to sob and look away from her. —"I-I didn't mean to, you just popped out of nowhere and-"—, she couldn't finish talking as he shushed her mouth with a hand and looked at her. —"Listen, I'm your conscious during this world, no one will see me or hear me, so anything I do will be like a ghost is messing with you, whatever you try to do, won't be able to get rid of me so you better start getting used to this"— he said with an almost serious tone as he removed his hand and stepped back, now being cheerful —"now let's get you out of here."—

Hello People, it's me once again, I'm finally free for this month of December and I may be able to add a 3rd chapter in this month.

But anyway, Hope you like it, if you know what references were in the last chapter good for you. For those that didn't, Danger is inspired by the movie "Pacific Rim". I won't spoil it but my friend enjoys it.

Thanks for reading and I'll see you in the next chapter!
