Attempt 1 Part 2: Highschool
Santana shook her head and pointed at Brittany, "If you are having some sort of nervous breakdown, you should probably go see Ms. Pillsbury. She will be more help to you than me," Santana shifted on her feet nervously and adjusted her glasses. "I guess a hug is better than being slushied even if it was super fucking random."
Brittany felt her blood run cold. This version of her…this body she was stuck in. She better not have been a horrible person. "I never…I never slushied you did I?"
"No," She threw her head back a little back towards Quinn and Finn who were looking between the two of them extremely confused. "They didn't per say. But their pain in the ass friends have."
"I take it Puckerman did," Brittany said dryly. Sometimes she still couldn't believe she acted like she did when she was in high school.
This might have even been worse than a senior year repeat she was so nervous about.
"Puckerman is still in juvie. He has been since last fall," Santana heard the second bell ring and started to move down the hall. "I don't know you well, but you really seem off. You should really take to the nurse or Ms. Pillsbury. I can tell Mr. Schue you'll be late."
"Yeah, maybe," It took a second for what Santana said to sink in, "Ohh. I'll walk with you to Spanish since we have that next."
Santana wasn't sure what she should say about Brittany following her closely down the hall. They did have class together, but Brittany literally NEVER talked to her. She was just going to go with it.
Brittany took it upon herself to sit behind Santana. The brunette made it clear they weren't really friends. But she was going to have to change that. Or at least figure out where she went wrong putting her in what seemed to be a parallel universe.
Just like her old high school days, Mr. Schue was still terrible at Spanish. She wasn't paying attention to what he was saying. She was trying to do more calculations. Mr. Schue went quiet for a second and called her name. He seemed annoyed; apparently he had called her before. She didn't hear him.
"Brittany, ¿qué hiciste este fin de semana?" Will asked her pointedly almost annoyed.
"Pasé tiempo con mi gato. Le gusta sentarse en la ventana. Él maúlla a los pájaros." She stated matter of factly as if he was dumb.
He seemed very impressed with her answer and nodded excitedly, "Muy bien, Brittany." He moved along to the next person in the room.
Santana whipped around and gave Brittany a very confused look, "Seriously, what was that? You've been sitting in this class with mefor half the school year and I've never heard you speak Spanish so well. You are usually a little lost… "
She looked up from her work. She had been over the calculations again, there was nothing wrong with them. She really had nothing to lose.
This was either her new life or she would wrap back at some point. "If I told you I don't think you'd believe me."
Santana didn't why, but there was something about Brittany that made her feel relaxed. During Freshman and Sophomore year, she had a couple random classes with Brittany. She always seemed to be in another world. Rarely paying attention even less often knowing the answer. She passed her classes some way or another. She assumed it was Coach Sue threatening the other teachers. She had heard the rumors, but Brittany speaking Spanish so clearly and correctly, maybe the ditzy blonde thing was an act. "Do you want to talk about it?"
Brittany just offered her a soft smile, "Do you want to get coffee after school? I can tell you about it then if you want."
Santana was taken a little by surprise by Brittany's invitation. They didn't have a single thing in common from what she could tell. But it did seem she needed someone to talk to. She wouldn't want someone to offer her help then back out last minute. "Don't you have Cheerios practice?"
Brittany just shrugged, "With my minor but public freak out earlier, I'll just have Quinn tell Coach Sue I don't feel good. I don't really care today to be honest."
The brunette just nodded and offered a small smile back, "I think if you're going to fake sick maybe the Lima Bean for coffee is a little out of the question. How about we go to the old bookstore downtown near BreadStix? It's not usually littered with students. If there are some there. It's not going to be anyone you would have to worry about ratting you out to Sue."
Brittany was about to answer her when Mr. Schue snapped back slightly. "Ladies!Por favor pon atención."
Brittany apologized to Mr. Schuester softly and winked at Santana. The rest of the class passed pretty quickly now that Brittany had plan. Well, a loose plan. Just as the bell rang she stood up and tapped Santana on the shoulder. "Do you just want to meet me outside after the last bell? I kind of misplaced my phone this morning. So…I don't have it for you to text me."
"I'll probably be closer to 4 before I leave. I have a Mathletes meeting before I can leave. It's not a full practice. It should only take about a half hour," Santana gathered her notebook and pen and threw it into her book bag.
Brittany leaned back on her toes heels and bounced on her toes back and forth. "Can I sit in on the meeting with you? I won't say anything. Just so we don't have to hunt each other down later?"
Santana shrugged a little and pushed her glasses up, "I don't see why not. But just so you know," She took a second to carefully choose her words. She didn't really want to call her teammates nerds or anything. She had a little more street cred since she at least did a sport. "My teammates aren't the usual crowd you'd hang with."
From what Brittany had gathered about the Brittany that belonged here, she seemed very similar to how she was when she herself was in high school. It did make her feel a little better that her counter part wasn't mean. It also seemed Finn and Quinn didn't directly harm Santana. Even if the dumbasses on the football team and other Cheerios did.
"I don't mind. I think everyone is cooler than we all think they are," She tapped her finger to her lip and nodded. "I'm sure everyone on the Mathletes will get into a great college and have good jobs while the people who pick on them will be stuck here."
"You really are full of surprises today, Brittany." Santana just shook her head and started to walk way, "I'll meet you at the Library at 3:15."
AN: I don't know Spanish. I used google translate for the small portion of Spanish in this chapter.
