THE CURSE OF THE BLACK PEARL – Part 1
Somewhere off the coast of England, a strange heavy fog had descended on the sea.
A flagship called the HMS Dauntless, the pride of the British Royal Navy, was on its voyage from England to the Caribbean, sailed carefully through this strange and dangerous fog.
The ship carried two passengers. Weatherby Swann and his 8-year-old daughter, Elizabeth.
Weatherby had been recently appointed by his majesty, King George II, as the new governor of Jamaica, a British colony in the middle of the Caribbean Sea.
As Weatherby couldn't refuse such an honor from the king, he accepted the post of governor. And a few days later, he and his daughter would sail of to their new home in Port Royal.
Young Elizabeth was a strong-willed and very independent girl and would never hesitate to speak her mind, much to her father's concern. However, he knew that Elizabeth had inherited these characteristics from her mother, who died of an illness several years ago. As Elizabeth had heard fascinating tales about pirates in Caribbean Sea, and when her father was appointed governor, the thought of meeting a real pirate one day made her exited.
Elizabeth stood at the bow, looking at the never-ending fog. Letting her imagination flow, the young governor's daughter began to sing her own little song "Drink up, me hearties, yo-ho. We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot. Drink up, me hearties, yo-ho. Yo-ho, yo-ho. A pirate's life for me. We extort, we pilfer. We filch, we sack. Drink up-"
Suddenly, Elizabeth was grabbed by the shoulder, causing her to gasp as she turned, seeing it was one of the crewmembers, Mr. Gibbs, looking very serious at her for singing a song like that in this strange fog.
"Quiet, missy. Cursed pirates sail these waters. You don't want to bring them down on us." Gibbs warned Elizabeth.
That was when the ship's lieutenant, James Norrington told Gibbs to leave the girl alone "Mr. Gibbs, that'll do."
Gibbs glanced at the lieutenant, telling his worries "She was singing about pirates! It's bad luck to sing about pirates with us mired in this unnatural fog. Mark my words."
Norrington of course wasn't amused by the sailor's complains or superstition and just said professionally "Consider them marked," he then ordered him to go back to his work "On your way."
Gibbs gave a nod "Aye, Lieutenant." Under his breath, he muttered while taking a quick sip from his bottle filled with some rum "It's bad luck to have a woman on board. Even a miniature one."
Elizabeth, not much scared by Gibbs' warning, said, "I think it'd be rather exciting to meet a pirate."
Seeing how naïve she is, Norrington formed a small smile as he told het from experience what pirates really are like "Think again, Miss Swan. Vile and dissolute creatures, the lot of them. I intend to see to it that any man who sails under a pirate flag or sears a pirate brand gets what he deserves. A short drop and a sudden stop."
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow, not really getting what Lieutenant Norrington meant by that. But as she glanced at Gibbs, he showed himself a small robe around his neck, meaning that 'a short drop and a sudden stop' meant by hanging. Elizabeth gave a small gasp in shock, frightened that pirates await such a cruel fate.
Seeing that Elizabeth shouldn't be exposed to such things at her young age, Weatherby told Norrington "I appreciate your fervor, but I'm concerned about the effect this subject will have upon my daughter."
Norrington gave the governor a nod "My apologies, Governor Swann." And went back to oversee the other crewmembers.
Though it sounded all a bit scared to her, Elizabeth told with a little smile to her father "Actually, I find it all fascinating."
Weatherby sighed before he gave a disapproving shock "Yes. That's what concerns me." as Weatherby went away, he mentally told himself, "She's too much like her mother. I just hope that it will all pass away when she gets older."
Elizabeth looked back over the bow, hoping that the fog would vanish soon so she could see the horizon again, imagining all the exiting things she was about to see when they'll reach Port Royal.
That was when Elizabeth spots something in the water. She saw it was an umbrella floating in the water, passing by the ship. Elizabeth raised an eyebrow as it confused her as how in the world an umbrella would be this far at sea.
As she looked around, Elizabeth theorized in her head, "Hmmm. Perhaps a lady lost it during a storm. But there were no heavy storms recently over England. Or perhaps…" But then, Elizabeth spots something else in the water. She saw it was a raft… and something was lying on it. Two in fact. She gasped in shock when she saw that it was a boy and a girl!
Elizabeth called the others "Look! There's a boy and a girl in the water!"
Surprised, Norrington, Weatherby, Gibbs and a few crew members looked at where young Elizabeth was pointing at. To their shock, there was indeed a boy and a girl in the water on a raft.
"Man overboard!" Norrington yelled "Man the robes! Fetch a hook!"
All men on the Dauntless were alerted a some grabbed some robes and hook to carefully catch the raft.
"Haul them aboard!" Norrington told. While Gibbs took the unconscious boy, another man took the girl in his arms.
Curiously and worried, Elizabeth looked while the crew and Norrington checked on the boy and the girl while carefully putting them down.
Norrington nodded after checking them "They're still breathing."
That was when Gibbs looked at the bow, seeing a big fire in the distance "Mary, Mother of God…!"
Elizabeth, Weatherby, Norrington and the other crew looked, seeing to their shock a vessel in flames while it was slowly sinking, with debris and dead bodies everywhere in the water.
"What happened here?" Governor Weatherby shockingly asked.
Norrington theorized, seeing the damage to the ship was probably caused by the amount of gunpowder that had exploded "Most likely the powder magazine. Merchant vessels run heavily armed."
Gibbs however could feel to the core what really had caused all this "Lot of good it did them. Everyone's thinking it, I'm saying it. Pirates!"
Though most of the crew thought the same thing, Weatherby scoffed at the idea that pirates were responsible for destroying the vessel "There's no proof of that! It was probably an accident."
Elizabeth walked over to the unconscious boy and girl. Both of them looked like they're around Elizabeth's age. The boy had dark brown hair and the girl had long black hair, and both had some similarities. Elizabeth wandered if they are related.
Norrington then ordered the men "Rouse the captain immediately. Heave to and take in sail. Launch the boats." All crew obeyed with 2 of them going below deck to wake the captain.
While a few crewmembers were taking the boy and girl somewhere and placed a blanket over them, Weatherby asked his daughter "Elizabeth, I want you to accompany the boy and the girl. They'll be in your charge. Take care of them." Elizabeth nodded that she'll do that.
As some of the crew entered a boat and row to the wreckage, looking for survivors, Elizabeth checked on the boy and girl. She reached her hand over the boy's forehead, stroking it softly. The boy screamed as he woke up, grabbing Elizabeth's hand as he gasped. The girl slowly woke up, but her vision was blurry.
Though Elizabeth was shocked of the boy's sudden reaction, she ensured him "It's okay. My name's Elizabeth Swann."
The boy panted as he told his name "Will Turner," he then looked at the girl, looking worried "My… sister… Amelia. Is she…?" but then he passed out before he wanted to ask if his twin sister was alright.
The girl, being Will's twin sister Amelia, groaned as she began to pant in panic.
Elizabeth tried to calm her down "Calm down. It's okay. My name's Elizabeth. I'm watching over you and William, Amelia."
Amelia shook her head, looking at Elizabeth as she'd seen death itself in person "No…! It's… the…!"
"Calm down, please. What happened?" Elizabeth asked.
Amelia was about to pass out before she was able to tell "The… The Black Pearl…! The Black Pearl… did this…!" she then sighed before passing out.
Elizabeth was puzzled by all this. What was the Black Pearl, she wandered. She then noticed Will was carrying something around his neck, like a medallion. Curiously, Elizabeth took a look at it, seeing it was a gold-like medallion within the center a shaped skull.
Elizabeth looked in shock as she thought who Will and Amelia were "You… you're… pirates!"
"Have they said anything?" Norrington asked behind Elizabeth.
Elizabeth gasped and quickly hide the medallion behind her back as she told lieutenant Norrington "Their names are William and Amelia Turner. That's all I found out." She looked nervous, hoping that Norrington would fall for her little lie.
Norrington nodded and told a few men "Take them below." They nodded and took the unconscious Will and Amelia below deck, tending their wounds.
Elizabeth, once she was at the stern side of the ship, gave sigh in relief. She couldn't bear the thought of something terrible would happen to Will and Amelia if anyone knew they were pirates, especially after hearing from Norrington what happens to pirates once they're captured.
She took a look at the golden pirate-medallion, finding it fascinating beautiful. From that moment, Elizabeth promised herself she would carry this secret with her, protecting Will and Amelia. But suddenly, she spots a ship through the fog… a ship with torn apart black sails. Elizabeth looked in shock as she saw that that ship was not only sailing under a pirate flag, but too had its name at the stern: Black Pearl.
Elizabeth gasped in shock and quickly closed her eyes shut. After a short time, she opened them, seeing that the ship with black sails was gone. The young governor's daughter then ran off the stern and went below deck, checking on Will and Amelia.
During the whole voyage towards Port Royal, Will and Amelia were recovering after what happened on the ship they were on, with Elizabeth staying by their side the whole time. Though Amelia tried to tell that it was the infamous pirate ship, the Black Pearl that had attacked their vessel, many of the men didn't believe her. Only Elizabeth, Gibbs and a few members of the crew seemed to believe her tale, while Will didn't want to talk of what had happened, as somehow, he couldn't remember much of that event.
Will and Amelia stated that they have been raised by their mother alone in England. But after their mother had passed away because of a fewer, the Turner twins had decided to travel to the Caribbean and look for their father, who Will was named after. Governor Weatherby promised that he would help the children to look for their father once they'd arrived in Port Royal.
When finally, having arrived at Port Royal after weeks at sea, the new governor and his daughter made their home at the large mansion. And while Weatherby Swann would do his duties as governor, Elizabeth grew closer to the Turner twins, with her and Amelia becoming best friends.
After several months, Weatherby had told the Turner children of what happened to their father, saying that he was a good and respectable merchant sailor who obeyed the law, but unfortunately had died at sea near the coast of Georgetown. Though Amelia had her doubts of hearing about her father's fate, as she had the gift of seeing when someone is lying as long as she could remember, the Truner twins had to accept that their father was truly gone and were now basically orphans.
Even though Elizabeth had tried to persuade her father that Will and Amelia could stay with them, Weatherby however had arranged that Will would be taken care of the town's blacksmith, learning all about becoming a blacksmith himself while Amelia was allowed stay at their mansion, working as a maid. Despite their differences in the social class, Amelia and Elizabeth have remained very close.
10 years later…
Waking up from her dream, the now 18-year-old Elizabeth glanced around her room, then the burning candle next to her on her nightstand. She had again that dream of when she had met Amelia and Will, finding them in a wreckage after their ship was attacked, ending with that same scary image of seeing a pirate ship with black sails disappearing in the fog.
She rose from her bed, took her candle and walked over over to her desk. She opened a drawer, removing a wooden plate, revealing that the drawer had a double bottom where Elizabeth had kept the pirate medallion safely.
Looking at the medallion as she closes the drawer, Elizabeth kept thinking of the day Will and Amelia were saved. She sighed while removing some dust from the medallion with her thump 'Will… Amelia… if anyone but me had found this 10 years ago when we met… I can't even imagine what Norrington would've done to the both of you. But at least you're both safe,' Elizabeth smiled when thinking how close she and Amelia had become, nearly close as sisters. But as she thought of Will, she began to blush 'Will…'
Truth is, both Elizabeth and Will had started to have feelings for each other, but neither of them had the courage to tell as she was the governor's daughter and Will was only a blacksmith.
When looking into her mirror, Elizabeth had the strange feeling of putting it on. As she places the necklace around her neck with the pirate medallion hanging on her chest, somehow, Elizabeth actually liked to wear it.
Suddenly, there was a knock on her door.
"Elizabeth?"
It was her father, Weatherby Swann.
Elizabeth gasped in horror and quickly took her morning coat and puts it on.
Weatherby knocked on the door again, having heard some commotion inside her room "Are you alright?" he asked his daughter "Are you decent?"
Elizabeth realized that she still had the pirate medallion around her neck. Having no time to hide it in her drawer, she quickly improvised and hides the medallion between her breasts "Uhm… yes. Yes!"
Weatherby opened the door, seeing to his surprise that all the windows were still shut, but smiled "Oh, still abed at this hour?"
Two maids followed Weatherby inside Elizabeth's room, with one of them being Amelia, going to the window to open them, revealing the nice morning sun.
"It's a beautiful day." Weatherby said as the weather was great around Port Royal.
Amelia, while preparing some stuff for Elizabeth to wear for the day, teased her as she whispered, "Beautiful day to impress my brother, hm?" she knew instantly that her twin brother and Elizabeth like each other more than just friends.
Elizabeth narrowed her eyes at her "Shut up."
Amelia could only giggle.
Weatherby cleared his throat, interrupting the two girls "Miss Turner, if you may?"
Amelia nodded "Yes, my Lord." She went to collect the big package that Weatherby had specially ordered for Elizabeth.
Holding it before them, Weatherby said, "I have a gift for you." he opened the box, revealing to be a beautiful dress together with a corset.
Elizabeth gave a small gasp as she took it, finding it beautiful "Oh, it's beautiful."
"Isn't it?"
But wandering if her father paid a nice dress for her for something else, she asked him, "May I inquire as to the occasion?"
Weatherby gave a shrug "Does a father need an occasion to dote upon his daughter?" he stated as it was simply a gift for her. He chuckled before he told Amelia "Go on."
Amelia nodded and went together with the other maid behind the wooder screen to help Elizabeth get dressed.
While Elizabeth was changing outfits, Weatherby confessed why he truly bought the new dress for his daughter "Actually, I… I had hoped you might wear it for the ceremony today."
"The ceremony?" Elizabeth asked as she puts her nightgown over the wooden screen.
"Captain Norrington's promotion ceremony." Weatherby confessed.
Elizabeth stuck her head out while narrowing her eyes at her father "I knew it." before she went back to get the dress on.
"Commodore Norrington, as he's about to become."
As the maid and Amelia tried to help Elizabeth getting the corset on, Elizabeth found it actually very uncomfortable as it was pressing her chest so tight.
"Fine gentleman, don't you think?" Weatherby asked, "He fancies you; you know." he said, revealing that the now promoted Commodore Norrington has an eye on Elizabeth.
While the other maid pulled the strings hard, Elizabeth gasped as how very tight the corset was, feeling she could barely breath, feeling like her ribs were pressing hard against her lungs.
"Elizabeth? How's it coming?" Weatherby wandered.
As she grunted a bit, Elizabeth said, "It's… it's difficult to say."
"I'm told it's the latest fashion in London."
Still not feeling well with the corset on, Elizabeth said, "Well, women in London must've learned not to breath!"
Amelia felt bad for Elizabeth to wear something as a corset, and told her "Honestly, you're still stunning beautiful even without a corset."
Elizabeth gave her nod, appreciating it from her while trying to adjust to the corset which she was not used to.
That was when one of the butlers entered the room, telling the governor "My Lord, you have a visitor."
Downstairs, Will, being dressed decently enough to see the governor, was waiting for the governor to meet him. He was carrying a long narrow case, seemingly carrying a sword in it that the governor specially ordered to be manufactured by him and his blacksmith employer.
Feeling a little bit bored, Will took a peek at a set of wall candleholders. But as he held to 1 of them, it got loose, shocking him for a moment. Luckily, he managed to hide it before one of the servants would see it.
That was when Weatherby came down the stairs, meeting Will "Ah, Mr. Turner. Good to see you again."
"Good day, sir." Will said politely and puts the small case on the table "I have your order."
Will opened the case, showing a fancy crafted August Sword. He took the sword and represented it to Governor Swan.
Weatherby took a closer look at the fine craftsmanship as he pulled the blade from the holder.
"The blade is folded steel," Will stated "That's gold filigree laid into the handle."
Weatherby was very impressed.
"If I may?" Will asked if he was allowed to show a little demonstration.
Weatherby didn't mind and gave the sword back to Will.
Will held it up, showing how light it was "Perfectly balanced. The tang is nearly the width of the blade." Will showed.
Truth is, it was Will himself that had personally crafted and forged the blade himself as his blacksmith boss was always drunk after drinking too much rum and was sleeping most of the time, which gave Will the chance to basically running the business with everyone still thinking his boss was making fine weapons and other things.
Will tossed the sword up in the air, shocking Weatherby for a moment, but as Will professionally caught it and presented it back to the governor, he chuckled "Ha. Impressive. Very impressive," he puts the blade back into the holder "I know Commodore Norrington's going to be pleased with this."
Will gave a nod and puts the blade back in the case as Weatherby handed it back to him.
"Do pass my compliments onto your master."
Will was shocked for a moment as Weatherby still thought it was his boss that made the sword, but Will gave a smile "I shall. A craftsman is always pleased to hear his work is appreciated." Then Will wandered and asked the governor "May I ask if my sister is around?"
"Miss Turner is still busy doing her chores with the other maids," Weatherby stated, but ensured Will, "But I will notify her that you've asked of her."
"Thank you, sir." Will thanked the Governor.
Weatherby gave a simple nod as he chuckled, knowing that Amelia always goes out with her twin brother after doing her morning chores.
That was when Will noticed Elizabeth, slowly walking down the stairs. Seeing her always made his heart skip a beat, as she had grown from the little girl she met all those years ago had become a gorgeous young woman.
Weatherby saw his daughter coming down the stairs too and smiled as how the new dress along with the corset looked so beautiful on her "Ah. Elizabeth. You look absolutely stunning."
Truth is, Elizabeth still had a bit trouble wearing the corset, but got along with it, trying to 'get used to it'. However, as soon as she saw Will, her troubles seemed to fade from her mind and formed a smile "Will! It's so good to see you!" she walked down to meet him "I had a dream about you last night."
Hearing that surprised Will, almost made him choke "A-about me?"
Weatherby raised an eyebrow for his daughter to say such things to 'a simple blacksmith' "Is that proper for you…?"
"About the day we met." Elizabeth finished.
Will answered with a smile "How could I forget, Miss Swann."
Elizabeth smiled as Will still calls her miss despite they were close as children "How many times must I ask you to call me Elizabeth?"
However, Will wanted to remain polite and said, "At least once more, Miss Swann. As always."
Weatherby chuckled that Will kept being humble "There. See? At least the boy has a sense of propriety." Seeing that it was time to go to the fortress for the ceremony, he took the case with the sword "Now, we really must be going."
Elizabeth sighed, with her smile faded, told Will with the same politeness, but with a bit more cold tone, "Good day, Mr. Turner." And followed her father and the staff outside to the carriage.
"Come along," the governor said.
As they entered the carriage, Will said "Good day…" Elizabeth looked back at him as she sat in the carriage with her father before they ride away. Will sighed, softly calling to her "…Elizabeth." And watched the carriage leaving.
Back inside the villa, while the other maid named Angelique was making the bed of Elizabeth, Amelia stopped for a moment as she looked out the window, watching the harbor… looking over the horizon to the endless seas of the Caribbean.
Amelia sighed while resting her head on her arm as she leaned against the window. Despite she was living a normal life as a Governor's maid, Amelia, unlike her twin-brother, always felt drawn to the ocean, imagining herself sailing the seven seas on her own ship and going on many adventures.
"Amelia!" Angelique shook her shoulder, forcing Amelia out of her imagination and glanced back at her, who looked a bit annoyed "Are you going to help me with Miss Swann's clothing or are you going to stare out the window all day?"
Amelia nods, ensuring her "Yeah, yeah… I'm coming, Angelique." She looked back out the window for a moment to the sea before closing the window as she gave a small sad sigh 'Why can't there be more for me than this simple life? Why can't I life a life on the seas?' she mentally prayed if there was perhaps some way for her to life her secret dream.
Little did Amelia know, that her prayers would soon be answered…
A few miles away from the harbor of Port Royal, a small boat was making its way to the colony.
Standing on top of the mast, stood a man that was watching the port where he was heading to. This man was a famous pirate by the name… Captain Jack Sparrow.
Jack looked at Port Royal, hoping to find a ship better than the one he was on now, which he'd basically borrowed from someone back in Tortuga 'without permission'.
Jack looked down, noticing that water was leaking on the boat. He took a robe and went down, taking a small bucket to scoop some water out.
But as Jack bypassed a big rock, he noticed three old skeleton corpses of pirates hanging on robes. Out of respect for them, Jack took his hat, reading what was on the sign that was hanging next to the skeletons: PIRATES YE BE WARNED.
Jack knew it meant that other pirates would await the same fate if they dare to enter Port Royal. However, this little 'warning' was not going to stop Jack from his goals.
Many working sailors, all working on their designated ships for either trading, selling or resupplying, saw Jack entering the harbor with his small boat. They all gave a weird face as they were surprised at what they saw.
Jack, standing on top of the mast again, approached a near dock… with his boat slowly sinking as the leak was too much to be handled, but Jack didn't care less.
And just as the mast had sank further with the boat down, it met at the level of the dock and Jack flawlessly stepped off the mast, walking on the dock, leaving his now worthless boat behind.
However, a man who was keeping check on all the boats that entered Port Royal, called back to Jack "Wha… Hold up there, you!"
Jack stopped, turning himself and walked up to the man in a eccentric way.
"It's a shilling to tie up your boat to the dock."
Jack looked back at his now sunken boat, with the top of the mast still sticking out the water while clearly being 'stuck' to the dock.
"And I shall need to know your name." the man added as it costed Jack some money to tie up to the dock and needs to give him his name. He opened his book, waiting for Jack's payment and his name.
However, Jack gave the man three shilling coins "What do you say to three shillings, and we forget the name?"
The man looked at Jack with a raised eyebrow as he was clearly trying to bribe him. But, seeing he could use the 'extra coin', the man formed a smile as he took the three shillings and puts them in his pocket "Welcome to Port Royal, Mr. Smith." And closed his book as he just made up some name for Jack.
Jack gave the man a nod, who went to 'inspect' the sunken boat. But with the man distracted, Jack noticed the little pouch that the man kept on his desk. Jack took the pouch, shaking it and heard some more shillings were in it and easily puts them in his pocket while nobody saw him before he went his way away from the docks, looking further for a ship.
Meanwhile at Fort Charles, the ceremony for Norrington's promotion to Commodore was starting. Governor Swann along with his daughter and many of the noble class of the colony were present.
As the music started being played, a group of soldiers marched in two lines into the fortress' square before they stopped before each line faced the opposite
"Two paces, MARCH!"
The soldiers marched two steps forward.
From the entrance, Norrington, now wearing a uniform suited for the position of Commodore, entered.
"Right about… FACE!"
The two lines of soldiers faced each other.
"Present… ARMS!"
The soldiers lowered they riffles like forming an arch as Norrington came forward.
While governor Swann presented the new Commodore with the sword, Elizabeth was having more trouble breathing cause of the corset, feeling almost lightheaded.
Then, at a nearby dock near the fort, Jack noticed a fine ship robbed to the dock, called: HMS Interceptor.
Jack raised an eyebrow as it looked a fine ship to commandeer. He looked around, seeing there wasn't anybody else around. To Jack, it was almost too perfect to take the big ship without anyone noticing.
As he walked down the deck, he bypassed the only two Royal Marine soldiers that were tasked to guard the dock, called Murtogg and Mullroy.
Upon seeing Jack walking up the deck, both marines quickly took their bayonets and blocked Jack's path.
"This dock is off-limits to civilians." Murtogg said.
Jack 'apologized' "I'm terribly sorry. I didn't know. If I see one, I shall inform you immediately." He then tried to bypass them, but the two guards again blocked his path, not allowing him go further up the dock.
Seeing the two Royal marines were taking their jobs seriously and wouldn't butch so easily, Jack approached in a different way, using his bit of shrewd personality and asked them, "Apparently there's some high-toned and fancy to-do at the fort, eh? How could it be that two upstanding gentlemen such as yourselves did not merit an invitation?"
As Jack mentioned the ceremony that was being held at the fort, Murtogg said with a shrug "Someone ahs to make sure this dock stays off-limits to civilians."
"It's a fine goal, to be sure," he then turned the other way, with Murtogg and Mullroy ready to block his path again, but Jack mentioned the other much bigger and heavier armed ship, being the Dauntless that was laying at anchor just outside the dock "but it seems to me a ship like that makes this one here a bit superfluous, really."
Murtogg stated, "The Dauntless is the power in these waters, true enough, but no ship can match the Interceptor for speed."
Jack thought for a moment while tapping his chin and told both marines, knowing of a ship that was faster than the Interceptor "I've heard of one, it's supposed to be very fast, nigh uncatchable. The Black Pearl."
Mullroy scoffed at that ridiculous fairytale about the legendary pirate ship, the Black Pearl and laughed "Hahahaha. There's no real ship as can match the Interceptor."
But Murtogg disagreed and told Mullroy "Black Pearl is a real ship."
Murtogg rolled his eyes "No. No, it's not."
"Yes, it is. I've seen it."
Murtogg raised an eyebrow at his partner as he claims to have seen the Black Pearl "You've seen it?"
"Yes."
"You haven't seen it." Murtogg didn't believed him.
"Yes, I have!"
Jack raised an eyebrow as the two marines.
"You've seen a ship with black sails that's crewed by the damned and captained by a man so evil that hell itself spat him back out?"
Mullroy thought for a short moment before he shook his head "No."
"No." Murtogg gave a nod to Jack, proving that there's no such thing as the Black Pearl.
"But I have seen a ship with black sails." Mullroy added.
Murtogg got annoyed by that and returned looking back at Mullroy with a bit angered tone "Oh. And no ship that's not crewed by the damned and captained by a man so evil," Jack meanwhile sneaked passed them to board the Interceptor as the two guards were so distracted by bickering too much among each other "that hall spat him back out could possibly have black sails, therefore couldn't be possibly any other ship than the Black Pearl. Is that what you're saying?"
Mullroy shook his head "No."
Murtogg gave a nod "Like I said, there's no REAL ship that as can match the Interceptor." And returned his glance to Jack, only finding him disappeared to their confusion.
Both men spotted Jack aboard the Interceptor, being at the helm "Hey! You!" both Murtogg and Mullroy rushed on the ship. Mullroy aimed his bayonet at Jack "Get away from there!"
"You don't have permission to be aboard there, mate." Murtogg added, also aiming his bayonet at Jack.
Jack apologized as he was just simply checking out the ship "I'm sorry, it's just such a pretty boat." Jack quickly corrected himself "Ship."
"What's your name?" Mullroy asked.
Jack, deciding to use the name that was given him when arriving at Port Royal, answered "Smith. Or Smithy, if you like."
"What your purpose in Port Royal, Mr. Smith?" Murtogg asked, clearly suspecting that Smith isn't his real name.
Mullroy nodded and added "Yeah, and no lies!"
Seeing they wouldn't believe him anyway, Jack shrugged and decided to tell the full truth "All right, then, I confess. It is my intention to commandeer one of these ships, pick up a crew in Tortuga, raid, pillage, plunder, and otherwise pilfer my weaselly black guts out." He finished with a grin.
"I said no lies!" Mullroy repeated.
But Murtogg, raising an eyebrow as he could see that Jack wasn't really lying, said to Mullroy "I think he is telling the truth."
Mullroy rolled his eyes "If he were telling the truth, he wouldn't have told us."
"Unless of course he knew you wouldn't believe the truth, even if he told it to you." Jack added, which confused Mullroy and Murtogg even more.
Meanwhile, back at the fort, while the celebration went on, with musicians playing music with their violins, Elizabeth tried as hard as she could to pretend nothing was wrong while the corset made her troubling breathing even more.
Then, the newly promoted Commodore approached Elizabeth "May I have a moment?"
Elizabeth nodded and walked with Norrington to the wall overlooking the sea.
While Elizabeth gave a small gasp, finding it more and more harder to breath, Norrington complimented her as how good she looked in her new dress "You look lovely, Elizabeth."
Elizabeth gave him a friendly nod, not showing that she was slowly out of breath.
Norrington cleared his throat, trying to find the right words to tell Elizabeth what he feels for her while he looked away "I… apologize if I seem forward, but I… must speak my mind. This… promotion throws into sharp relief that which I have not yet achieved," he returned his balance at her "A marriage to a fine woman."
Elizabeth looked at Norrington, sensing where this was going and Norrington was trying to propose to her.
"You have become a fine woman, Elizabeth."
But Elizabeth had trouble breathing as the corset was now really preventing her from breathing "I… I can't breathe!"
Norrington, thinking she was overwhelmed with his way of proposing her, nodded while looking away "Yes, I'm… a bit nervous myself."
Then… Elizabeth fainted and fell down the walls!
"And then they made me their chief." Jack told Murtogg and Mullroy as he was telling them how he became captain of the Black Pearl, before all saw Elizabeth falling in the water, much to their surprise.
Norrington looked back, not finding Elizabeth standing where she was "Elizabeth?" he looked around, only to spot down something fell below in the water, realizing that Elizabeth had fallen down "ELIZABETH!" Norrington screamed, causing everyone at the fort to be alarmed.
Norrington was this close to jump after her, but Lieutenant Gillette stopped him because of all the rocks down below "The rocks! Sir, it's a miracle she missed them!"
Norrington immediately ran with several men out of the fort.
Elizabeth, being unconscious, slowly sank into the water.
Back at the Interceptor, Jack asked Mullroy and Murtogg "Will you be saving her?"
Murtogg stated, "I can't swim!"
Jack looked at Mullroy, who shook his head as he too can't swim.
Seeing that he's the only one that can save her, Jack puts off his hat, coat, sword and pistol and hands them over to Mullroy and Murtogg "Pride of the king's navy you are! Do not lose these." He told them before jumping off the ship and dived into the water, swimming over to Elizabeth.
But with Elizabeth, with the pirate medallion still around her neck, suddenly caused a near invisible shockwave in the water.
Mullroy and Murtogg saw it to their surprise.
"What was that?" Mullroy asked his partner.
Murtogg shrugged.
But to both men's surprise, the wind suddenly changed and became stronger, not knowing that the medallion had caused something or someone luring to Port Royal.
Jack meanwhile had reached Elizabeth and grabbed her while swimming back up the surface. But he found it difficult to carry her cause of the extra weight of her dress. Seeing no other choice, Jack ripped the dress open to make her lighter and dragged her to the dock while more Royal marines rushed to the place with Commodore Norrington and Governor Swann following.
Mullroy and Murtogg helped Jack carrying Elizabeth on shore.
Murtogg checked on her, seeing she was still unconscious and wasn't breathing "She's not breathing!"
"Move!" moved him out of the way and took a knife, cutting Elizabeth's tight corset open, causing Elizabeth to cough out a lot of water and grasped for air. Jack threw away the corset over to Mullory.
Impressed, Murtogg said, "I never would've thought of that."
Jack narrowed his eyes at him "Clearly you've never been to Singapore." He said as he had some experience when he was in Singapore.
But that was when Jack noticed the golden medallion around Elizabeth's neck. It looked very familiar to him. As he took it to take a better look at it, while Elizabeth looked at her rescuer, Jack's eyes went wide as he recognized the pirate medallion "Where did you get that?"
But Jack was interrupted when a sword was pointing at him "On your feet." Jack curiosly looked, seeing it was Commodore Norrington that held his sword at him. Murtogg quickly got up while Jack slowly rose while holding his hands up.
Weatherby rushed on the dock, being in shock and worried of what nearly happened to his only child "Elizabeth!" he helped her up "Are you alright?"
Elizabeth nodded "Yes, I'm fine."
But as Weatherby noticed that Elizabeth wasn't wearing her corset anymore, he glared at the person who was holding it, being Mullroy while covering his daughter with a coat.
Mullroy quickly dropped the torn-up corset, pointing to Jack that he was the one who did that.
"Shoot him!" the Governor angrily ordered to punish Jack.
"Father!" Elizabeth said before turning to Norrington "Commodore, do you really intend to kill my rescuer?"
Though Norrington didn't trust the man, he gave Elizbeth a nod and puts his sword back in his holder. Jack gave Elizabeth a 'thank you' gesture.
Norrington reached out his hand to Jack "I believe thanks are in order."
Thinking that Norrinton wanted to thank him for rescuing the Governor's daughter, Jack was about to take Norrington's hand, with Norrington quickly grabbing his hand and forcefully pulled back his sleeve, revealing a branded 'P' mark on it.
Norrington clearly had already seen through that Jack, or Mr. Smith, was in fact a pirate, with his suspicions confirmed with the 'P' mark, which only the East India Trading Company does to pirates "Had a brush with the East India Trading Company, did we, pirate?"
Jack cursed himself in his mind that his cover was blown.
Elizabeth looked surprised that she was in fact saved by a pirate.
"Hang him!" the governor ordered.
Norrington ordered his men "Keep your guns on him, men." The other Royal marines aimed their bayonets at Jack "Gillette, fetch some irons." Norrington ordered his lieutenant.
But as Norrington pulled back Jack's sleeve even more, he found a sparrow-tattoo on his wrist, making Norrington form a grin, knowing who the pirate's real name is "Well, well. Jack Sparrow, isn't it?"
Jack, being annoyed by not naming him by his official tittle, reminded Norrington, "Captain Jack Sparrow, if you please, sir."
Mocking him, Norrington took a quick look before asking Jack with a grin on his face, "Well, I don't see your ship, Captain."
Jack simply shrugged "I'm in the market, as it were."
However, Mullroy stated to the Commodore as what Jack told him and his partner "He said he'd come to commandeer one."
"Told you he was telling the truth." Murtogg said before handing over Jack's belongings to Norrington "There are his, sir."
Norrington took a look at Jack's stuff, inspecting his pistol "No additional shots nor powder." He unhooks the compass from the belt, opening it, revealing it was pointing way out "A compass that doesn't point north." He then inspected Jack's sword, revealing to be a real one "And I half expected it to be made of wood."
Jack gave a small grin, as he had held a wooden sword before in the past.
"You are without doubt the worst pirate I've ever heard of."
Jack smirked "But you have heard of me."
Having had enough of Jack's games, grabbed him by his arm and took him while Lieutenant Gillette was about to put chains on Jack's hands.
Elizabeth released herself from her father and protested "Commodore, I really must protest!"
"Elizabeth!" Weatherby said shockingly of his daughter trying to defend the pirate.
"Pirate or not, this man saved my life." She said and glared at the Commodore.
"One good deed does not redeem a man of a lifetime of wickedness."
Jack then said while Gillette was still busy on handcuffing him "Well, it seems enough to condemn him."
"Indeed."
As Gillette was done, Jack saw his chance "Finally." And grabbed Elizabeth by the neck with his chains, holding her hostage and using her as a human shield, causing Elizabeth to gasp in horror!
The marines took their bayonets while Weatherby pleaded them not to harm his daughter "No! No! Don't shoot!"
Jack chuckled and whispered in Elizabeth's ear "I knew you'd warm up to me."
Elizabeth felt disgusted by Jack for using her as a hostage despite her defending him.
Jack told Norrington to give him back his stuff "Commodore Norrington, my affects, please. and my hat."
Norrington doubted for a moment.
"Commodore!" Jack warned him.
Seeing no other choice, not wanting Jack Sparrow to hurt Elizabeth, nodded and took Jack's stuff.
Jack then asked Elizabeth "Elizabeth… it is Elizabeth, isn't it?"
"It's Miss Swann." She said with anger in her voice.
Jack instructed her "Miss Swann, if you'd be so kind." Clearly, he wants her to put back on his stuff "Come, come, dear. We don't have all day."
Norrington gave Jack's stuff to Elizabeth. Jack turned Elizabeth while holding his pistol to her head "Now, if you'll be very kind."
Elizabeth felt angry and disgusted that Jack forced her to put back on his stuff. She first but on his hat before putting his belt around his chest.
Jack smirked at the Commodore as Elizabeth hugged him, making Norrington angry.
"Easy on the goods, darling."
After Elizabeth was done, she said with some hatred in her voice to Jack, "You're despicable."
Jack shrugged "Sticks and stones, love. I saved your life, you saved mine. We're square." Jack then turned Elizabeth, still holding her hostage "Gentlemen, milady," He walked backwards with her, with Norrington, Weatherby and the Royal marines to stop forward to him "you will always remember this as the day that you almost caught… Captain Jack Sparrow!" Jack then pushed Elizabeth forward, releasing her!
Jack quickly grabbed a robe and kicked a mechanism, causing the robe to rise up quickly, which helped Jack escaping the marines' grasps, but dropped a canon down to the dock, breaking it, causing a few marines to fall in the water!
Jack held on to the robe, which began swinging around the crane.
Weatherby asked angrily to Norrington, "Now will you shoot him?"
Norrington ordered his men, "Open fire!"
The Royal marines shoot with their bayonets at Jack but missed him!
Jack managed to jump on another crane and used another robe and the chains to zip-line away before running away from the dock.
"On his heels!" Norrington ordered with him and his men pursuing Jack! Some marines tried to shoot at Jack but missed him while some citizens ran away in panic!
While the rest of the marines went after Jack, Norrington ordered Lieutenant Gillette "Gillette, Mr. Sparrow has a dawn appointment with the gallows. I would hate for him to miss it."
Gillette nodded and went with a few more men to find and arrest Jack Sparrow.
The entire colony was now on full alert, as Jack's actions at the dock of the Interceptor spread like wildfire across Port Royal, with every Royal Marine being on high guard to look everywhere for the pirate captain, Jack Sparrow.
Amelia, now wearing a different outfit, consisting of a normal shirt, pants and boots, walked with her twin brother through the streets, heading to Brown's Blacksmith shop where Will worked.
"I can hardly believe what we've heard, brother," Amelia said with a little bit of excitement "THE Jack Sparrow, here, in Port Royal."
Will shook his head and told her with a bit of serious face "That's not something to be excited about, sister. He threatened Elizabeth."
Amelia nodded but added as they bypassed some Royal marines "Yes, but after he'd saved her life."
Will sighed while he shook his head, as he couldn't believe that his twin-sister was taking the pirate's side.
Jack, meanwhile, having hide behind a statue, sneaked into the blacksmith's shop while nobody looked.
Jack didn't saw anyone in the, seeing only the donkey that was attached to the machinery to make all kinds of swords and other materials used by either the town's people or soldiers, and other equipment.
When Jack saw a hammer next to the anvil, he walked over to it, puts his hat on the anvil and took the hammer as he wanted to try to use it to break the iron chains around his wrists. But as he took the hammer, Jack heard a bottle clatter nearby. He looked and saw the blacksmith Brown laying on a chair in a deep sleep, snoring.
Jack carefully approached him, seeing if he was truly asleep. Jack pokes his chest, which only made Brown groan a bit but didn't woke up.
Jack tried to scare him "WHOA!"
But still, Brown didn't wake up.
Seeing that Brown had clearly drunk too much rum, causing him to fall into a deep drunken slumber, Jack sees this was his chance to quietly try to remove the chains on his wrists.
Jack tried numerous times to slam the hammer on the chains, but it didn't work, causing Jack to become frustrated. But then Jack had an idea as he checked the turning mechanism, thinking he could break the chains if he placed them to the steering wheel while it moved, with the donkey the only thing to make the mechanism turn.
Jack puts a piece of iron in the fire till it was glowing red… and used it to stick it on the donkey, hurting him and began walking around, making the mechanism move. Jack quickly puts the chains on the steering wheel and the chains broke, freeing him.
But as Jack heard someone unlocking the door, he quickly hid somewhere as Will and Amelia entered the shop and saw the donkey moving around, making Will run over to him and calm him down by touching him softly and stopped.
Amelia wandered what could've caused the donkey to move around "Hmm. Maybe it got scared by something?" she looked and saw Will's master, drunk and passed out. "Typical Mr. Brown." She said sarcastically.
"Yeah. But he's right where I left him." Will said with a grin before seeing his hammer out of place "Not where I left that, though."
Amelia then saw an unfamiliar hat on the anvil and raised an eyebrow "Will, is that yours?"
"No, it's not." Will answered.
As Amelia moved to touch the hat… a blade stopped her, making her gasp as the siblings looked and saw Jack.
Amelia looked at this man and felt her heart skip a beat as she and Will took a few steps back before speaking, "You're the one they're hunting, right? The pirate, Jack Sparrow."
Jack looked at this boy and girl and saw something very familiar about them, although he couldn't t ell what and asked curiously, "You two seem somewhat familiar. Have I threatened any of you before?"
But Will glared at him and said coldly, "I make a point of avoiding familiarity with pirates."
"But we're siblings, if that narrows it down for you a bit," Amelia added with a surprising confidence.
"Ahh. Although that kind of thing doesn't narrow it down, I thank you for your honesty, Miss. But would be a shame to put a black mark on your brother's record. So, if you'll both kindly excuse me?" Jack said politely as he tried to make his way to the exit.
But Will quickly grabbed one of his swords and pointed it at Jack.
"Oh. Come on, Will, I'm not so sure that's the wisest thing to do right now." Amelia told while crossing her arms.
Jack turned and warned Will "You should listen to your sister, boy. It's not the wisest to be crossing blades with a pirate. And frankly, she appears to be a bit smarter than you due to choosing negotiation before violence."
But Will pointed his sword at Jack's throat "You threatened Miss Swann."
Jack touched his blade with Will's "Only a little."
Jack then delivered a few strikes with his sword, which Will was able to deflect and delivered a few strikes of his own, which Jack was able to block.
Amelia rolled her eyes in annoyance while taking a few steps back while the men dueled "This is unnecessary, Will."
Will gave his sister a quick glare before focusing on fighting Jack.
Jack smirked "Your sister is right, boy. Fighting me is truly unnecessary. Though, you do know what you're doing. Excellent form." Jack was curious how good Will was with a sword "But how's your footwork? If I step here…" he took a step to the right, which Will did too, and both delivered several strikes which both men excellently deflected "Very good. And now I step again," Jack took a quick step to the left in order to disarm Will, but he skillfully blocked Jack's attacks.
Having had enough time wasted, Jack gave Amelia a nod "Miss." And quickly walked to the door.
Will quickly threw his sword to the door, which narrowly avoided Jack's head, but blocked it, making it impossible for Jack to open it!
Jack looked with surprised eyes at the sword that almost hit him before grabbing it, trying to forcefully take it out, but was stuck so the door wouldn't open.
Amelia shook her head with disappointment at her twin-brother, knowing that he only did that in order to 'impress' Elizabeth by capturing the pirate.
Jack meanwhile kept struggling to get the sword out, which wouldn't work. He turned back, forming a grin "That is a wonderful trick, I give you that. Except, once again, you are between me and my way out." He drew his sword "And now, you have no weapon."
But Amelia quickly took a sword and pointed it to Jack, which made him raise his eyebrows as he looked at Amelia.
"You and my brother are not the only ones who can handle a blade, Mr. Sparrow," Amelia said with a grin.
Jack formed a similar grin, and he touched his blade with hers "This should be interesting."
Wanting to see what she could do, Jack attacked her with his sword, which Amelia skillfully deflected, just as good as her brother.
Will, wanting to come to his sister's aid, quickly took out another sword that was in the fire, with the edge glowing cause of the heat. The donkey saw the heated blade, causing him to move as he thought he would be hit with that again.
Will tried to attack Jack, with his blocking his attacks, causing sparks to scatter from the heated blade.
Annoyed, Amelia told her brother while she delivered a series of attacks, which Jack was able to deflect, "Thanks, Will, but I can handle this perfectly well."
Will ignored her and continued to aid his sister. But as Will tried to slash Jack with the heated sword, Jack grabbed it with his chains and disarmed him!
Jack returned his focus on Amelia and both kept delivering several strikes with Amelia and Jack skillfully deflecting each of their attacks.
Then, both got into a blade block, with Jack telling her with a grin on his face, "You fight almost as good as your brother, dear."
Amelia formed a similar grin "Funny. I was going to say the same thing about you." she used the opportunity to deliver a fierce strike, disarming him.
Jack quickly got to a nearby sword under the mechanism while avoiding Will's attacks as he'd grabbed a new sword and blocked Will's blade just in time before it could hit him!
Being surprised by the dozens of well fined made swords in the shop, Jack asked curiously "Who makes all these?"
Will tried to attack him again, which Jack avoided before he blocked Amelia's attack just time.
"I do," Will said before delivering an attack on Jack which he blocked before facing Amelia.
"And we're practicing with them," Amelia added as she delivered a series of attacks on Jack, which he barely was able to block before facing both the Turner siblings.
"Three hours a day." Amelia and Will said simultaneously.
Jack took a second sword, facing both Turners while using his surroundings well to avoid their attacks. He teased Will with a smirk "You need to find yourself a girl, mate."
Will attacked, being annoyed by what Jack said, which gave an opening and Jack kicked him away and faced only Amelia.
"Honestly, my brother has his eyes already on a girl," Amelia said while delivering several blows on Jack, which he deflected.
Jack formed a grin and asked as they sword blocked "Ah. So the reason he practices three hours a day with you is because, but incapable of wooing said strumpet?" but then wandered with a raised eyebrow "He's not a eunuch, is he?"
Amelia formed a small smile "To answer your first question, Jack Sparrow; yes. Your second; no."
Amelia pushed Jack backwards while Will rejoined the fight and delivered several strikes on Jack, which he deflected and avoided while he annoyingly said, "I practice three hours a day so that when I meet a pirate, I can kill him!"
Jack stepped back on the cart while deflecting Will's attacks, causing it to loose balance with both Jack and Will on each side while they kept fighting.
Will then use the advantage to stuck Jack's chain to one of his swords and stuck it up the wooden beam at the ceiling, causing Jack to only being able to fight with one arm, missing Will a few times before kicking a wooden plank from the cart, hitting will in the face, making him fall backwards!
Jack climbed on his chain, attempting to get loose from the beam. Will rose up, ready to deliver the final blow on Jack as he climbed the cart.
"Will, wait!" Amelia called to her brother.
But just as will climbed on the cart, Jack got loose, crashing back on the cart which send Will far up the ceiling, with him holding onto the wooden beam while Jack rolled backwards.
Jack quickly got up and deflected a few blows from Amelia.
As they got into a sword block on the cart, Amelia said with a small grin as she glanced up at Will climbing on the wooden beam before glancing back at Jack, telling him, "Very smart to improvise like that, Jack Sparrow."
Jack smiled, appreciating the complement "You're welcome, Miss,"
Amelia quickly looks up, seeing Will to cut the sack with heavy metals, with her quickly moving out of the way before it crashed on the cart, sending Jack up with him.
Amelia looked annoyed at her brother up the ceiling "A little warning next time, thank you!"
"Sorry," Will quickly said before facing Jack and both resumed the duel on the wooden beam.
After several strikes and deflects, Will disarmed Jack, making him jump down, with Will following.
But Jack quickly grabbed a sack filled with dust and sprays it over Will, causing him to be blinded temporarily, with Jack quickly kicking Will's sword away.
Jack reached for his belt, but to his surprise, didn't find his pistol.
He heard a pistol click, making Jack to look behind him, seeing Amelia holding him at gunpoint with his own pistol.
However, instead of being angry or annoyed, Jack was impressed by her "Using your charms to distract me and take my pistol, right? That's very impressive, my dear, especially for a girl that knows how to fight almost like a pirate."
Amelia smiled while giving a small shrug "Call it improvising, Captain Sparrow."
Will, having wiped away the dust from his eyes, was annoyed that both Jack and his sister had cheated "You both cheated!"
Jack gave Will a shrug "Pirate."
Amelia didn't answer.
Then, all three heard Royal marines outside while attempting to break in the blocked door.
Jack, forming a little smile at Amelia, said, "While I would love to finish our duel, dear, I have to be somewhere else," he attempted to sneak to the backdoor "now, if you'll excuse me-"
But Will quickly blocked Jack's path "No."
"Will!" Amelia said.
Jack, being a bit more desperate, asked a bit nicer "Please move?"
Will shook his head "No! I cannot just step aside and let you escape." But then glanced at his sister, looking at him a bit shocked while he wandered why she hadn't just shot Jack "What are you waiting for, Amelia? Just shoot him!"
"But…"
Jack interrupted her, saying while raising his hands at her "Wait, wait, wait! Please, Miss. That shot is not meant for me, your brother or for you."
That made Will and Amelia confused.
"What?" Amelia asked.
But then, Jack was hit in the head by a rum glass, making him fall unconscious and crashed on the floor! It was Will's drunken blacksmith master, Mr. Brown that had knocked Jack out.
A few Royal Marines kicked the front door opened and stepped inside with their bayonets "There he is!" one said and aimed at the now unconscious Jack.
Commodore Norrington stepped inside with his pistol, thinking that Mr. Brown had helped them while ignoring that Will and Amelia had done all of that "Excellent work, Mr. Brown. You've assisted in the capture of a dangerous fugitive."
Mr. Brown shrugged "Just doing my civic duty, sir."
Will and Amelia both annoyingly sighed that Mr. Brown was taking all the credit, while clearly Amelia was about to let Jack go.
Norrington then said while forming a proudful smirk as he looked down at Jack "Well, I trust that you will always remember this as the day that Captain Jack Sparrow almost escaped. Take him away." He ordered his men, with them taking Jack into custody.
Amelia sighed while handing over Jack's pistol over to one of the marines.
After Norrington and his men were gone together with Jack, Amelia glared at her brother.
"What?" Will asked.
Amelia gave Will a whack upside his head "That's for starting that fight which was completely unnecessary!" Before Will could protest, Amelia interrupted him "And don't give that excuse that it was because he held Elizabeth hostage." Amelia then rolled her eyes and began to leave "Honestly, brother, I don't feel like helping you around today anymore. I'm going back to the governor's villa. Good day."
Will disappointingly shook his head.
Mr. Brown however looked down at his bottle that was broken "That rather broke my bottle."
Later, that same night
In the fortress' prison, where Jack was now being held in a separate cell, a few prisoners, all being in a cell together, tried to lure a small dog that held the keys in his mouth. clearly they have been attempting to get the keys from the dog for ages.
One whistled to the dog "Come here, boy. Come here."
"Want a nice, juicy bone?" another prisoner desperately, nicely asked as he held a cow's bone, offering it to the dog.
"Come here, boy!" another kindly asked.
But despite all the begging and offering him a nice bone, the dog didn't moved an inch.
Jack, who sat in the corner, sighed, knowing that the dog wouldn't come over to them for all the food in the world and was probably just a way by the guards to tease the prisoners and give them false hope "You can keep doing that forever. The dog is never going to move."
One prisoner, glaring back at Jack, stated "Oh, excuse us if we haven't resigned ourselves to the gallows just yet."
Jack gave them one look before they returned trying to lure the dog to them. Jack simply smiled, knowing it wouldn't work anyway with how the way they're doing it.
That was when Jack began thinking back of his encounter with the two siblings back in the blacksmith shop, especially dueling the girl. He admitted that she was a formidable opponent, almost fighting like a real pirate as how she improvised by taking his pistol while being distracted. And, despite she was a great swordsman, Jack thought she was indeed very beautiful too, which made him form a smug.
But as Jack thought of the girl's brother, he wandered 'The girl's brother… what was his name again? Will, right?' he then thought deep 'Wait a minute… the boy, Will… and his sister… both look almost like Bootstrap Bill and… he did mention to have two children with…' that thought made Jack's eyes widen out of realization 'Could they… Will and his sister… be… Bill's twin children?'
Jack thought carefully about this. "Hmmm…" he tapped his mouth and mentally thought, 'Perhaps… they could be the key to get my ship back… and make the man and mutinying crew pay who stole it from me and left me on that deserted island.
Meanwhile, back at the Governor's home, Amelia, now wearing her maid's outfit again, was removing a bedwarmer from the fireplace.
"Here you go, Elizabeth," Amelia says as she slides the bedwarmer between the sheets of Elizabeth's bed, with the governor's daughter laying in it wearing her night gown while reading a book.
"Thank you, Amelia," Elizabeth thanked her. She then sadly sighed after what happened today.
Amelia knew that look and sat next to Elizabeth, asking her, "I know that look on your face, Elizabeth. What's troubling you?"
Elizabeth shook her head "I just… I expected Commodore Norrington to propose, but I must admit I wasn't entirely prepared for it."
"You mean when you fainted and fell off the cliff?" Amelia asked "You know, you're lucky to be even alive. If you weren't rescued from the water you would've drowned."
Elizabeth rolled her eyes "Ah yes. Rescued by a pirate before he held me hostage to escape the law. I'm so thankful for that." she said sarcastically.
Amelia then told her "Well, think about it, Elizabeth. It seems to me that Jack Sparrow was only afraid and only used you out of desperation as he didn't wanted to be captured. And also, he did saved your life. That's at least something."
Elizabeth was quiet for a moment. Though Amelia was right about that and Jack Sparrow holding her hostage was only an act out of desperation, even though he scared her by doing that, she said, "Perhaps. But it's still not an excuse, even though he did rescued me."
Amelia then teased her "Well, if it wasn't Jack Sparrow, I think you would've loved that my brother had saved you instead, hm?"
Elizabeth gave Amelia a shocked expression before looking away, clearly hiding a deep blush.
Amelia chuckled "Admit it, Elizabeth. You love my brother."
"I…" Elizabeth shook her head "I do not!"
Amelia frowned at her as she could clearly see she's lying "Oh, please, Elizabeth. The way you and Will have been acting towards each other for the past several years is so obvious. Even I don't have to try to sense that you're both in denial and are clearly deeply in love."
Now it was Elizabeth that frowned at her "You know, Amelia, sometimes I'm thinking that you're actually a witch that you can sense when someone is lying."
Amelia, pretending to be offended, rose from the bed and said, "Well, if I am a witch, Miss Swann, that I can just fly away with my trustworthy broomstick," she took the broom from the corner and opened the window "Why don't we, test it out if I'm a witch, shall we?" she asked while putting the broom between her legs.
Elizabeth gave a horrifying look on her face, thinking that Amelia was going to jump out the window "Have you lost your mind?"
Amelia formed a grin "It's the only thing in today's society to test if I'm actually a witch. If I can fly out, you can call the guards and have me burn at the stake." She climbed up to the window.
Elizabeth gasped in shock "No! Don't!" she was this close to jump out of bed.
Amelia stopped, before she bursts into a laughter "Pffff hahahahahaha!" she puts the broomstick down and closed the window "Oh, Elizabeth. Even after all these years, you're still so easily to be fooled. Hahahahaha!"
Elizabeth groaned with annoyance as how Amelia scared her for her own amusement "Not funny!"
Amelia then asked while forming a smirk "Just admit it, Elizabeth. You like my brother far more than the Commodore."
Elizabeth sighed before giving Amelia a glare "That is again too bold."
Amelia then shrugged "Beggin' your pardon, Miss. You're right. It's not my place to judge," she then walked to the door, but told Elizabeth before leaving "but despite me not being a witch, I can clearly see what will happen if you stay on this path. If you keep denying your true feelings and marry Commodore Norrington, you're going to regret that decision for the rest of your life." She then walked out and closed the door "Good night."
Elizabeth was now alone, being in her thoughts. She took a look at the pirate medallion that was still around her neck, thinking about Will.
But that was when a strange wind whistled into the room, putting off the candle on her nightstand.
With Amelia, who was about to do her other chores, could also feeling the strange wind that whistled through the villa. That feeling… made her froze, as she hadn't felt that feeling in years, making her look horrified "No… that can't be…!"
Will, who was working on a new sword in the blacksmith shop, could also feel that strange wind, making him look out the window, not seeing a single soul in the streets.
Back with Amelia, she walked fast to another window, opening it and looked down the colony, spotting a dark ship entering the harbor… A ship with black sails…
Amelia's eyes went wide, as if she'd entered a horrible nightmare from her memories, speaking with fear in her voice "The Black Pearl…"
