Hello everyone, I hope you're all doing well today! Anyways I'm not quite sure where this idea came from, but I decided to give it a chance.
There isn't much fanfiction about Mike and Maya, and personally I think they're a really cute couple! They're like a black cat and golden retriever like duo, and I find that really cute.
IMPORTANT: I do NOT own Power rangers, or else I would've changed a lot of things!

A Sticky Situation
By T.J.Lightspeed5
How In the world did she end up in this position? She only went out for a little evening swing on the vines in the forest dome of Terra Venture, and now here she is. Hanging upside down while her leg is tangled up in a vine in the middle of the forest.
She sighed, there's little to no chance of somebody finding her before the clock struck 9 O'clock at night. But here she is, trapped hanging upside down, all because she was careless and forgot to look out for her surroundings.
Her friends told her that they'd be entering winter soon enough, and they weren't wrong. It was freezing! The chilling winds kept pressing against her bare skin, she should really consider getting a 'jacket' or whatever the other people in the colony call them.
She felt herself getting dizzy as the blood rushed straight to her head. Maybe, just maybe, she could try and get up onto a thick tree branch so she wouldn't get dizzy anymore. Judging by the thickness of the vine, and her injuries she won't be able to get the vine off of her leg by herself.
She tried to do a sit up, just so she can grab onto the branch to help her sit up properly, but that backfired as she underestimated the cut on her left hand, and when she tried to grab onto the branch, her hand began to sting as if a thousand bees had just stung her all at once.
However she did manage to wrap her legs around the branch, then she got her right hand to hold onto it as well. As soon as she got the guts to use her left hand to hold on as well, then she should be set. But it was unlikely that it would happen anytime soon.
Oh well, might as well get comfortable as she waits until morning comes, and then people can come and find her.
The other rangers sat around Maya and Kendrix's room as the clock struck nine. Nobody has seen Maya since 6 pm, and that was quite worrisome. They knew that Maya liked to wonder about the different domes of Terra Venture in the evening time, but she always comes back before quarter past eight. Something must be up of she isn't back yet.
Kai was leaning against the island counter in the small kitchen of the room, his arms were crossed with his left index finger repetitively tapping on his right elbow. He was in deep thought, it was easy to tell as his eyebrows were pointed down and he had a long facial expression on.
Kendrix and Leo were sitting together on the couch, there's no surprise there. The two have practically been inseparable since Leo got his citizenship ID card approved.
Kendrix was sat with her right leg sat on top of her left leg, her arms were also crossed. You could see the worry on her face, her eyebrows were pointed down and she had a big frown on her face.
Leo had his left hand sitting on Kendrix' right thigh, he was bouncing his right leg, it was easy to guess that he was feeling quite anxious. His breathing was uneven with nervousness. You could tell that he had his eyes set on the clock, continuously watching its hands move.
Damon was leaning against the triple loft bed, one of his feet was placed right up against the wall of the beds while the other was placed on the ground. He took deep breaths from time to time, and they broke up the awkward silence haunting the team with each time he released them. Although he didn't show it, he was very worried for his peppy, yellow-wearing friend.
Then all there was left was Mike. He considerably hasn't spent as much time with Maya as the others have, but he's arguably the most worried about her. He didn't know why, but he always wanted to be around her.
When she was hurt, he felt hurt, when she was sad, he was sad, and so on so forth. It was odd, he's never really felt this way before. Not around past crushes or girlfriends, nothing. It couldn't be love... could it?
No! That's impossible! He didn't love Maya, he couldn't. She was so full of life, and incredibly charismatic and kind to everybody she meets, and he was so... just not like her in that sort of way.
Even if he did love her, there's no way that she'd love him back, they were totally different people, there was no way that they could realistically work out as a couple.
He shook his head to get rid of those thoughts, but it didn't get rid of the feelings of fear and worry that he had. He looked at the clock, it was close to 9:05pm, it was nearly time for lights out, they need to go out and find her before anything happens to her. He looked back and forth between the team and the clock, he sighed. They needed to find her, and now.
"That's it!" He pushed himself off of where he was stood and he picked up his jacket, the others looked at him like he was some confused old man, he was looking for some gear like flashlights, and he even took a pocket knife.
"I'm gonna go find her."
Everyone seemed to snap out of their thoughts at Mike's sudden urge to go find Maya. They all understood why he wanted to do it, but he didn't have a plan. "You should really have a plan before setting off like that Mike." Kendrix spoke up.
Kai stood in front of the doorway as Kendrix said that, he threw his arms out in efforts to stop Mike from leaving too hastily.
"We understand that you want to find Maya, we all do! But you should really have a plan before you parade around Terra Venture at night!"
Mike backed down after a few moments and sighed, they were right. It would be stupid not to have a plan, anything is possible with Trakeena lingering about.
Leo sat up from where he was sitting as Damon took a small map from his pocket and placed in on the table, everyone looked at him with confusion. "What? I'm a mechanic here, it's standard procedure that I have a map off the whole colony layout on me."
Everyone just nodded at that, made sense to say the least. Leo took a moment to think as his eyes traced each dome of the map. There was six, domes, five rangers, this would be tricky. "We could easily ask Alpha if he'd be willing to use the camera's to scan around the main dome, that way the five of us can split up and search every other dome."
Kai nodded, he was trying to think who'd be good to go with each dome. "I'll check the beach dome, I'm usually watching the beach dome's camera's while doing some paperwork."
Damon nodded, if they were going for individual knowledge then he knew exactly where he should go. "I'll search the industrial dome, it's where the majority of the power lines for the main dome is, I can navigate through it."
Kendrix titled her head to look at the remaining three domes, she caught onto what the boys were doing quite quickly, she isn't that great at navigation without a compass. So the forest dome was an obvious no, and the mountain dome was too step for her to climb, she also didn't have on the right shoe wear for it. "I'll take the plains dome, that's where we keep the majority of our food and water supplies, I'll know what I'm doing."
Leo nodded, as his friends picked where they'd search, it became pretty obvious where he should be. "I'll check out the mountain dome, I explore there alone form time to time. I know the ins and outs of the caves there."
Everyone then looked at Mike, with the certainty of Alpha searching the main dome, there was only one dome unassigned, the forest dome. The dome that's infamous for it's windy and cold conditions. Mike knew what it meant, he should probably make sure he has a walkie-talkie on him at all times then. "Fine, I'll take the forest dome."
"Alright, I'll ask Alpha to search the cameras for Maya, these may come in handy." Kendrix moved the curtain of the bottom bunk out of the way, and she pulled out a black case. She opened it and it revealed 6 walkie-talkies. She took them out and handed one to each of the boys, "Turn it to channel four, that's which one we'll use."
Kendrix moved around and found a coat to put on as well, after all, a storm was scheduled for 10pm at night, for some reason. "I'll drop this off to Alpha, don't worry, I'll be fine."
Kai was 99% sure that the 'don't worry, I'll be fine' was just for Leo's sake. But he brushed it off, wasn't his business anyways. "You're going to need a jacket, a storm was scheduled for 10pm sharp."
"in that case we should be back before the storm gets bad, so around five minutes past ten, no sooner or later than that." Damon nodded, he was gathering stuff as the others spoke.
Mike nodded, that gave them all an hour to find Maya before the storm came, from what he knows, it should start raining when it's roughly around 9:40 pm, with that in mind he sure that he was wearing his watch, or else time may just slip away from him.
Oh great, it was beginning to rain. Nothing was really going her way today, first getting trapped in a vine and then it starts raining, not to mention that it's cold where she is.
She didn't even know what time it was, she didn't have a watch. She could tell time, thanks to Kai and Kendrix teaching her how to earlier on, but it was still annoying.
'Judging by the clouds, I'd say it's going to rain heavily soon' she sighed.
This was just her luck, carelessly swinging from one vine to another, and then the next thing she knows her leg got tangled up in one, causing her to fall and get hurt.
The light rain started to land on her skin. It was just small dribbles of water, gentle ones too, it just felt like a small poke when they landed on her. She didn't mind that, but she was dreading when the gentle rains would eventually become aggressive downpour.
She'd thought quite a bit while she was stuck where she was, just thinking about how she'd gone from some wild girl on Mirinoi to a power ranger in a space colony. That huge jump was quite amazing to her, you'd never expect a girl like her would become some strong and powerful warrior.
Even then, she was struggling a bit with transitioning to an off-the-grid, low technology life to a tech-surrounded one. That's not an adjustment you'd make overnight. Although she's doing ok with it, she still finds herself struggling to operate kitchen things, and embarrassingly the shower at points, but she knows she's improving, and she's proud of that.
Time and thought were an odd combination, both as dangerous as the other. Everyone does it, and a she found that really interesting. The way that people are always short on time, but limitless in thought. She wondered why that was. Her friends are usually busy with their work, but somehow they're always having thoughts about something.
The topic was interesting to her, considering the fact that it was keeping her entertained a tiny bit.
There's not exactly much to do when you're stuck with an injured hand, and a vine wrapped around your injured leg. She was just doing her best to keep herself entertained, hopefully it keeps her entertained for a few hours.
Mike did his best to navigate the cold and dark forest dome. He kept an eye on his watch, he's been searching for over half an hour for her, he's staring to think she's not here, regardless he kept pushing on. He didn't know why, but something was telling him too.
"Any sign of her?" Leo's voice came through the walkie talkie.
"She's not in the beach dome, I'm heading back to the girls quarters." Kai's voice came through the hand held device.
"Haven't found her yet, but I'm still looking." Kendrix responded
"Absolutely no sign of her. It's too dark to see, even with my flashlight. Besides I don't think Maya would want to be here. I'm going back." Damon reported.
"What about you Mike?" Leo's voice on the walkie talkie started to become static when the rain started to get a bit heavier, which was messing with the walkie-talkies.
"Nothing yet, but I'm still looking. I'm not even near the middle yet." Mike sighed to himself. But at least now they know Maya is definitely not at the beach dome, and is unlikely at the industrial dome. But that still left 4 more domes, including the forest dome, to search.
His only source of light was his small, hand held flashlight, and it was practically useless. It only lit a tiny bit of the way in front of him, just a thin sliver of light, and that's it. Nothing more.
He walked around the maze of trees, just trying to make it to the centre of the dome before he started to head back.
The heavy downpour wasn't any help either, of any thing it was a massive distraction. But of course, even more annoyingly, it was starting to thunder.
Loud crashes of power flooded the domes sky as the rain kept crashing down on him and his surroundings.
'Of course, out of all the nights to go missing, Maya had to just vanish when a storm was scheduled.' He mentally scoffed. He knows it wasn't her fault, but still, it was very annoying.
"Maya!" He called out her name, he circled around just in case he spots anything.
"Maya!" Mike yelled out again, he kept pushing forward, even as the thunder and rain had started to become more and more consistent. Something was nagging at him, telling him not to go back until he searched the entire dome.
His feet started running for him, it was an instinct. He couldn't control himself, he ran and yelled her name.
"I have to retreat from the caves! Rocks are starting to fall!" Leo's voice broke through the tension, but the walkie-talkie was breaking frequencies, meaning Mike hardly heard what was going on.
"I don't think she's here either- AH!" Due to the static sound of the walkie-talkie
"Kendrix! Are you alright!? I'm coming the plains dome!" Leo blurred out in a small panic.
"I'm fine- lighting nearly hit me!" Kendrix reported. "I have to retreat!"
Mike heard the conversation between his brother and the pink ranger. However he wasn't really absorbing what's happening, nor did he notice the static voices coming from his walkie-talkie get quieter and quieter as he ran through the forest. He didn't realise it snagged on something and fell out of his pocket.
He didn't care, he was working on autopilot, just yelling Maya's name and running while dodging the trees.
"MAYA!!!"
She felt herself jump a little bit as she heard her name being yelled, and someone's rapid footsteps coming closer to her.
"MAYA!" The yelling came closer and closer.
'Wait... I recognise that voice-!' Maya thought to herself as she tried to adjust herself, which only resulted in her falling. She was back to dangling upside down again, but this time she didn't have the energy to pull herself back up.
"MAYA!!" Mike's shouts echoed as they came closer.
"Ugh- Mike!" Maya yelled back. "I'm over here!"
She heard the sound of running come closer and closer, and eventually Mike was standing right in front of her. She greeted him with a happy smile, she was glad to have help now.
"Maya! How in the-" Mike blinked as he looked at the situation Maya was in, tangled up in the vines with a scraped knee and injured hand, as well as a few bruises.
"Long story short, I was just swinging around and being careless."
Mike nodded, he got his pocket knife out to cut the vine. "Prepare yourself." He warned, it didn't matter what happened, what did matter was getting her down from that vine. Which meant he had to cut it.
Maya let out a small groan when she nearly hit the floor, just nearly. Mike caught her at the last second, but the impact of it sent them both to the ground.
"Ah, sorry haha" Maya nervously got off him, though her knee buckled since it hurt, especially with the rainwater dribbling down it, it started to sting.
"Don't worry about it, are you alright? Your hand..." Mike trailed off, noticing her injuries.
'She must've really been distracted if she got that hurt. Whenever she usually got hurt after wondering around, she usually just came home with a small cut, or a bruise. Not a massive gash on her hand and a badly scraped knee.' He worriedly thought.
"I'm alright, don't worry about me." She tried to brush his concerns off, but it wasn't working. He got more worried, especially when she had to lean against the tree because she was dizzy, and cold.
Mike noticed that Maya was cold, due to her gentle shivers. It was pouring down rain, with some thunder going off from time to time. He took off his jacket and wrapped it around her, to keep her somewhat warm. He'd be fine, he had a long-sleeve shirt on, that'll keep him warm for a bit.
"Mike-" Maya blinked when she felt his jacket be wrapped around her, it was nice, and a bit warm too. She didn't expect that, and she certainly didn't expect him to pick her up in his arms so easily. It caused a small flush of pink to appear on her cheeks.
"Shh, don't worry about it Maya. I'm taking you back to medbay, to the others, and alpha. We were worried sick." Mike calmly explained, he was holding her bridal-style, it helped keep the jacket around her, not to mention it wouldn't cause her as much pain with her injuries.
She quietly agreed with him, nodding her head gently as she rested it on his chest. She couldn't wait to get her injuries bandaged up and have herself be warmed up after being in the cold for a while. She found herself slowly snuggling up to him for as much warmth as she could get from him, it was... nice.
"Aye! Aye! Aye! What happened out there?" Alpha 6 trailed behind Mike and Maya.
"She slipped and got hurt in the forrest dome." Mike was soaked from being out in the rain, he was just thankful he found Maya before the storm got even worse.
He set her down gently in an effort not to cause her any more pain. He looked at her quickly, but gently, she looked precious in all honesty. Something you would just want to bundle up and protect with your life.
"Hey... you ok?" Mike asked gently, giving her a blanket instead of his jacket. But oddly, Maya held onto his jacket.
"I'm fine thanks to you." Maya gave a smile, she thought for a quick moment before speaking again. "Hey, how about the others? Are they alright?"
Mike blinked, he'd completely forgot about the others since he was so focused on bringing Maya to safety. He felt around his pockets, even searching the one in his jacket, but his walkie-talkie wasn't there. "Shoot."
Mike quickly turned to Alpha 6. "Did Kendrix come by and give you a walkie-talkie?"
"Why she did indeed Mike! Why? Do you need it?" Alpha inquired, tilting his hockey puck shaped head to the side a bit.
"Yeah, just quickly so I can tell the others I'm alright, and that Maya is safe." Mike nodded.
Alpha 6 passes him the walkie-talkie and Mike quickly turned it on. "Guys? Guys can you hear me?"
"Mike! Thank God you're alright! Did something happen? We've been trying to contact you for ages!" Leo sounded very relieved, even over the walkie-talkie. As a matter of fact, he was. Leo was very relieved that his older brother was alright.
"I'm alright, I'm fine. I found Maya in the forest dome, she's doing fine. Just resting in the medbay part of the Astro space ship." Mike radioed over to the others, keeping them informed. He felt bad for not realising he'd lost his walkie-talkie somewhere, and left them to stress out and panic.
"Does she need anything? No, no, scratch that. I'll come over and give her a few of her things." Kendrix's voice cut off Mike's before he got the chance to answer her earlier question.
"Um, alright then." Mike switched off the walkie-talkie to Alpha. "Thanks."
"It's my pleasure, Mike!" And just like that, Alpha scooted off to do something else.
It was silent for a few minutes, when Mike turned around, he saw Maya with her eyes closed, sleeping. The sight made a gentle smile tug at his lips. She looked adorable when she was sleeping, her beautiful brown hair spread out in a way that looked both messy yet perfect placed at the same time.
Mike found himself travelling next to her, gently he cupped her cheek and stroked the side of her head with his thumb.
"Sweet dreams, Maya." He murmured gently somewhat close to her ear. But before he wondered off to go to bed himself, he planted a gentle kiss to her forehead.
When he had actually left, Maya opened her eyes and blushed like mad. She was only resting her eyes, but when he came next to her she decided to pretend she's asleep. His gentle kiss to her forehead was something she never thought she'd get to experience, but now she had, she liked it. She thought that maybe, just maybe, that there's a chance he liked her back.
She couldn't stop smiling as she placed her hand on the cheek he'd touched. She'd never thought of Mike being that gentle before, but now she was hoping that she'd get to experience that side of him again. However, her train of thoughts was slowed to a halt when she heard someone chuckle behind her.
"So… care to explain how that happened?" Kendrix asked with a chuckle, she witnessed the entire thing. But decided to stay quiet until Mike had left.
"Kendrix!" Maya felt her cheeks heat up again, this time with pure embarrassment. How could she explain this to Kendrix?
Regardless of all the teasing she'll surely be put through now, she was happy to know that she just might have a chance with Mike, and that thought made her the happiest she's been in a while.
Hello everyone! I know, I know. It's been a while. I've had writers block for a while, and just general life stuff going on.
I have gone a bit bonkers and have started several stories at the same time, but Heyo. They'll all get completed sometime.
I started this story I believe all the way back in June? Anyways it's December now (at least when this is posted). So it's been a while.
So if I don't post again this year, happy holidays! I hope you all stay safe and have a very happy new years when it comes!
