New Orleans
Year of 1914
The figure of a slim and slender female stumbled toward a warehouse with dried tears on her cheeks, red puffy eyes, and a bag that she was gripping around her arms tightly.
Facing the entrance of the warehouse, the woman didn't even acknowledge it as the doors burst open upon her presence. The woman released a shuddering sigh when her eyes spotted a certain coffin. She almost instantly went to the coffin, but paused in front of it and extended her hand in its direction, almost touching it, almost…
With a flick of her fingers the upper lid of the coffin calmly opened, the sound of squeaking wood deafening in the almost absolute silence of the warehouse, and without its upper lid, the vein-covered face of a handsome young man revealed itself. A peculiar silver dagger resting in his chest, just where his heart should be.
As soon as the woman landed her eyes on the young man, the hate became clear on her face. The woman glared at the daggered man with a broken look.
"You think I will let you get away with just being daggered, Mr. Mikaelson?" The woman's hoarse voice sounded, like an endless promise of pain as she nearly ripped her bag open.
"Oh no… even permanent death would not be enough for you. So prepare yourself, darling. For I will make sure you suffer far more than you can even imagine. The agony, the suffering, and the loneliness… you will experience it far more than I." the woman hisses while she grabbed out three vials of dark-crimson blood.
After a moment, the woman mixed the blood into one single vial while chanting a spell under her breath, soon forcing it down inside the daggered man's throat. "I curse you, Kol Mikaelson. For I made sure you will lose your happiness, just like you made me lose mine." The woman smiles evilly as her eyes become crowded with bitterness. "Never piss off a witch, Mr. Mikaelson. You should know this more than anyone."
She shut the coffin with pleasure clear on her face, satisfaction making its way on her being.
For she now could rest, knowing that the now cursed immortal would soon experience what real pain is.

Mystic Falls
Year of 2009
A young teenager girl with medium-length blonde hair who endorsed slightly curls, bright blue-green eyes and pale complexion. The girl's name is Caroline Forbes. She is currently adjusting her clothes in front of the mirror while staring at her own reflection with an uncertain gaze. She sighed softly yet a gentle smile appeared on her face.
"Today is the first day. Back to school as a Junior this year." Caroline mumbled to herself while smoothing her clothes.
Unaware of the fact that there was a handsome young man who was watching her with boredom on his face. The young man was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. He groaned as he watched Caroline yet again threw the outfit at her bed and glanced over the closet with a thoughtful look.
"You look fine, darling. There is no need for you to change your clothes for the umpteenth time." Not like she could hear nor see him for that matter.
The young man had just "woke up" a few days ago to discover that he was laying on the floor of a young girl's bedroom.
At first, he assumed that the girl was a witch and had saved him from that cursed coffin where he would probably spend another century into.
However, he was wrong when he discovered that he was now a spirit who apparently can't get himself to be distant from this human girl. Like, really. No matter how many times he attempted to get out of this house and away from the blonde, the young man found himself stuck.
And while he can actually leave or roam around, he can't get too far from the blonde-haired beauty or he would literally teleport back to her side. He doesn't understand how or why he would be stuck to this girl as the ghost couldn't remember the girl from anywhere. And as the days passed, the young man learned that she was just an ordinary girl who wears a mask of confidence to cover her insecurities and depression caused by her parents' divorce and her mother's negligence by the girl's eyes.
In the time he has spent with the girl, the ghost has never seen the girl show anything resembling true happiness.
He also learned a few things about the twenty-first century, which made him silently curse his bastard brother who once more had daggered him thanks to his backstabbing bitch of a sister.
He wondered where his body was and why the hell is he stuck with this girl, better yet, who had created his current predicament.
For now, his only choice was but to observe the girl that his spirit was attached to for some bizarre reason.
Not even a week and Kol Mikaelson was already deadly bloody bored.
Caroline shakes her head once again at another dress while smiling at her reflection.
"No. No time. I need to head to school." She mumbled to herself, turning around as she finally decided to get out of that damned mirror and went to her desk, grabbing her school bag and a pile of flyers that she will be setting up in school.
"Caroline Forbes. Today is a new day and hopefully this year will be a great year." She muttered with a hopeful smile.
Kol watched the blonde-haired girl smile and with a positive attitude she grabbed her keys and left the bedroom, and as she got in her car, Kol was already there on the passenger seat, waiting with a bored gaze as he stared at the landscape of his old home.
The blonde-haired started the car and drove down the road. Caroline turned on the radio and turned the dial, beaming when a familiar song started.
"They're playing my favorite song!" she whispered excitedly.
"Good day sunshine, good day sunshine, good day sunshine~" she sang along the song called Good Day Sunshine by the Beatles.
Kol raised his eyebrow in interest at the blonde but was slightly impressed when he heard her melodic voice. She wasn't the most amazing nor talented singer to ever exist, however there was something in her voice that just makes it so pleasant to hear her singing.
"Not bad." He complimented and soon, Caroline and Kol found themselves in the parking lots near the school building. Caroline immediately got out and went straight to the school building, Kol already at her side while glancing at the few students around in the nearly empty school ground.
Caroline almost instantly started to set up flyers on the walls of the school building with a determined look, wanting to finish before the school got crowded with students. Kol examined the school building with a frown. He never understood why anyone would attend school. Although, he never really experienced school before it wasn't something he would ever see himself doing.
Kol sighed loudly while following and observing the blonde-haired girl continues her duty silently.
It's going to be another boring day for him.

Some Time Later…
The school building is now filled with students for a while as the first classes where to start soon. Caroline finished setting up the flyers with a proud and pleased smile while Kol glanced around in boredom until he heard her gasped. He turned around and saw the blonde-haired beauty walking quickly toward two girls whose Kol barely glanced at.
"Elena, oh my god!" Caroline immediately hugged the brunette girl.
Kol walked slowly toward them and paused when he saw the girl called Elena.
"Tatia?" he blurted out in surprise.
And just on that moment Caroline break the hug with a concerned look on her face.
"How are you? Oh, it's so good to see you." She turned to the petite girl standing at Elena's side. "How is she? Is she good?"
"Caroline, I'm right here. And I'm fine. Thank you." Elena answered for herself when Caroline turned her attention to her with a concerned look.
"Really?"
Elena nodded her head. "Yes. Much better." She assured the blonde-haired girl who sighed softly.
"Oh, you poor thing." She hugged Elena once again.
Kol watches them interact quietly. A thousand thoughts running through his mind.
"Okay, Caroline." Elena gave another pat on her friend's back then they broke apart.
Caroline eyed Elena with contemplation but placed a faux-cheerful smile. "Oh, okay, see you guys later?" she stepped back to glance at two of her best friends who nodded their heads. She waved at them and walked down with a smile while Kol narrowed his eyes at the two girls who stared at Caroline as they exchanged amused glances.
After a moment, the blonde-haired girl was standing by her locker with her cellphone out while other girls came up to her as they discussed the events of upcoming in school. Kol simply tuned out the useless chat, his gaze locked on the Elena girl until something attracted his attention. A brooding teenager who walked down the hallway, attracting attention from everyone on his path.
Caroline paused, her eyes widening in amazing and interest when she saw the new guy.
Kol noticed it, a scoffed escaping his lips. "Really, Darling? I'm better looking than that bloke." He commented dryly.

After School
Mystic Grill
Kol has seen and heard many things in his long life. Meaning that few things could surprise or impress him. It would take a huge, big deal of it and something that caught his interest was very rare. Hell, he was known as Jack the Ripper during his stay in London back in the day. He befriended many powerful and ancient witches. He got himself involved with wars just for amusement. He has seen and heard of all in his life. Nothing could surprise him anymore.
And yet…
This one human girl managed to impress the wildest of the Original's and that is saying something.
He stared at Caroline in a new light as he followed the girl who was talking to Bonnie who was holding a can of diet soda with a smug smirk on her face.
"—name is Stefan Salvatore. He lives with his uncle up at the old Salvatore Boarding House. He hasn't lived here since he was a kid. Military family, so they moved around a lot. He's a Gemini, and his favorite color is blue." She informed the petite girl as she halted and turned around.
Bonnie raised her eyebrow with a skeptical and amazed look. "You got all of that in one day?"
"No, she got the information within five minutes sweetheart. Certainly the daughter of the sheriff." Kol commented, impressed.
Caroline scoffed. "Oh, please, I got all that between the third and fourth period." She corrected which Kol was amused and impressed. "We're planning a June wedding." She said, dreamily.
Kol made a face. "Oh, Darling. You can do so much better than that unattractive bloke. No way he can handle a force of nature like you." He muttered to himself.
Bonnie chuckled as she shakes her head at her best friend's silly antics.
Soon after a while, Kol has already walked around all of the Grill with slight boredom and amusement when he heard some dirty talks between couples, useless secrets, boring talks about sports and so on.
He glanced over Caroline who was chatting to a jock— that he learned was called Tyler Lockwood—immediately disliking the boy as he saw the dirty looks he threw at every girl on his path.
Then, he saw Stefan walk in with the newest doppelganger that Kol knew his brother had been searching for many centuries ever since the Katerina fiasco.
Too bad he can't do anything about it since he's a fucking ghost thanks to the bastard, but fortunately he was stuck with a pretty blonde to pass his time with.
Few minutes later Kol found himself on a chair, his legs stretched out, ankles crossed and his arms folded behind his head with a blank face. He is near Caroline who is sitting across Stefan at the table with Bonnie and Elena. "So, you were born in Mystic Falls?" Caroline asked, interested and curious.
Kol amused himself by answering. "As a matter of fact, yes sweetheart. I was born and raised in this useless, boring town."
"Mm-hmm… And moved when I was still young." Stefan answered, politely.
Bonnie speaks up. "Parents?"
"Mommy is dead for a thousand of years now and daddy is somewhere which I hope is a dying ditch full of cow and horse shit." Kol answered bitterly.
"My parents passed away." The silence was the response to Stefan as all eyes turned to Elena who stared at him with understanding and sympathy.
The brunette sighed. "I'm sorry. Any siblings?"
"Ah…" the ghost smirked humorlessly. "My good old siblings. I assumed my bastard brother is probably somewhere busy with his plan for world domination while the other is searching for you. I honestly do not know if the rest of my siblings are daggered. I know Finn is daggered. However, Bex might either be daggered or with Klaus or Elijah. No clue since my brother has been a bit obsessed with daggering his siblings on and off throughout the centuries." He blabbered uncaringly.
"None that I talk to. I live with my uncle."
Caroline noticed the stares between Stefan and Elena. She cleared her throat. "So, Stefan." She smiles charmingly at him. "If you're new, then you don't know about the party tomorrow."
Bonnie rolled her eyes and glanced at Stefan who looked curious. "It's a back to school thing at the falls." She informed him.
Stefan turned to Elena with interest. "Are you going?"
"Of course, she is." Bonnie answered cheerfully for Elena who smiles shyly and glanced at Stefan.
Caroline continued to attempt to catch the new boy's attention, but she failed, her shoulders slumping with barely concealed disappointed eyes. Kol noticed it and a sigh escaped his lips. "Don't fret, love. If he won't see you for your beauty, I suggest finding another bloke." He muttered, feeling a little bad for the Blonde.

Next Day
Kol has learned that Caroline Forbes is talented when it comes to parties.
He had to admit that this human girl knows how to throw parties, besides being interrogative and rather excellent at flirting.
Kol watches in amusement at Caroline who was chatting happily to one of the students while holding a glass bottle of beer.
"Your alcohol tolerance isn't so bad, Darling." Kol smirks at Caroline who took a sip of her beer while listening to one of the partiers talking. Kol also likes the way Caroline looks with clothes that she seems comfortable in.
Caroline perked up when her blue-green eyes spotted someone. "Excuse me, I saw someone I need to greet." She politely excused herself and set her semi-empty bottle down at the table. Kol's gaze followed Caroline to find the one and only Stefan Salvatore who was staring at Elena in the distance.
"Hey!" The blonde-haired girl jumped in front of him with a lovely shy smile that Kol has never seen before. "You made it."
Stefan half-smile awkwardly. "I did."
"Well, let's get you a drink." Caroline offered.
The new boy attempted to refuse. "Well, I'm—"
Caroline's eyes sharpened as she grabbed Stefan's sleeve. "Oh, come on." She interjected, forcing him to move with her toward the tables where the foods and drinks are.
"Darling, I think he's a pushover. You don't need a bloke who is easily patsy." Kol muttered with a frown. Not liking how Stefan seems to try to get away from her while paying sole attention to Elena. The Original has long noticed and knows that Stefan is in love with the doppelganger. He has seen those kinds of looks from men and women many times in his century's life. "He won't be interested in you, sweetheart. Best to forget him and move on to someone who is interested." Kol pointed it out, unfortunately, no one can see nor hear him.
Not even five minutes and Stefan left Caroline for Elena. Kol watched Caroline who searched for the new guy and paused when she saw him with Elena. The blonde-haired girl sighed with disappointment but a determined found its way.
"No… I won't give up." She whispered to herself and grabbed a new fresh bottle from the cooler. Kol sighed heavily but followed the blonde-haired girl through the crowd of teenagers.
The Original wishes he could grab a drink and drink the shit out of him out of boredness. Hell, bloodbath war is what he needs. However, life, principally for a Mikaelson, is never easy.
Kol leaned heavily against the tree while scanning his surroundings until he spotted Stefan walking into the woods which brought him a curiosity. He decided to follow and pray that the distance between the human girl and himself wasn't too far.
After a moment, Kol raised his eyebrow when he watched Stefan grabs a rabbit and sank his fangs into the furry animal and drank its blood. "Bloody hell… Stefan Salvatore is a bunny murderer." He commented, interested. It seems that Mystic Falls has a vampire living in it.
The ghost followed Stefan back to the party and saw Caroline step up when she spotted Stefan. "Hey, there you are!" she stopped in front of him with a giddy smile. "Have you been down to the falls yet? Because they are really cool at night. And I can show you…" she tilted her head with excited and nervous twinkles in her eyes. "…if you want."
Stefan stared at her then huffed. "I think you've had too much to drink."
"Well, of course I have." Caroline admitted shamelessly which Kol approved of with an amused smirk. "So—"
"Caroline." The blonde beauty paused. "You and me, it's not gonna happen. Sorry." Kol frowned at Stefan when he watched how the blonde bright eyes diminish. The Original watched quietly as Caroline turned her head over her shoulder and noticed Stefan wending straight to Elena.
Kol wishes he could hear what they are saying but as a ghost he, unfortunately, doesn't have his supernatural senses. However, he didn't bother going over since he was mildly concerned for Caroline.
"At least he didn't compel you, otherwise I would find a way to undaggered myself and stab his heart with a vervain stake." Kol commented, knowing that Caroline won't hear him, but yet tried to comfort her. He watched the blonde-haired girl go for another bottle of beer and drink it all in one go.

Mystic Grill
Later…
Kol never thought the party could go to disaster so fast, unfortunately a poor soul was the victim of a vampire. He knew it was not Stefan if his bunny hunting meant something, it was another vampire which he doesn't know of, yet.
And now he is currently once again at the Grill as he sits on the empty chair between Bonnie, who is drinking her coffee slowly, and Caroline who is rubbing her temples with a pain-struck face.
It has been quiet for a while until Bonnie sets her cup of coffee down and stares at Caroline with a sympathetic face. "Are you sober yet?"
"No." the blonde-haired girl grumbled as she lifted her head, brushing her hair away from her face while sighing heavily.
Bonnie tipped her head at the glass of water that stands front of Caroline. "Keep drinking. I gotta get you home. I gotta get me home." She said, attempting to light the tone with a humorous smile.
"Why didn't he go for me?" Caroline snapped her head up and stared at Bonnie with sincere confusion while Kol stared at her with a sympathetic gaze. He knows how the blond is feeling. "You know, how come the guys that I want never want me?"
"Oh Darling…" Kol muttered.
Bonnie shakes her head. "I'm not touching that." Kol glared at her. What a friend.
Caroline continued. "I'm inappropriate."
–"I like it."–
"I always say the wrong thing."
–"Which is amusing." –
"And… Elena always says the right thing." Caroline stared at Bonnie with a solemn face. "She doesn't even try! And he just picks her. And she's always the one that everyone picks, for everything. And I try so hard, and…" she trailed off as her eyes started to glossy. "…I'm never the one." Caroline empathizes sadly, hurt clear on her voice.
Kol's usual mischief filled eyes softened at her. "Oh, darling…" he muttered, understanding that this was but a glimpse behind the blonde's mask.
"It's not a competition, Caroline." Bonnie attempted to comfort the blonde-haired girl.
However, Caroline stared at Bonnie blankly. "…yeah, it is." She stated as if it was a fact.
Kol leaned forward to stare at the blonde beauty who usually hides behind a mask of lies. "Maybe you should drop the facade and show the real you. Maybe then, you might have someone who sees you and wants you." He whispered, finding himself wishing that she could hear him. He doesn't deny that he, in his own weird way, cares about her.
Just a little.
When the girls finished their drinks, Bonnie stood up and informed Caroline she needed to use the restroom. Caroline nodded her head and waited for the petite. Her blue-green eyes lifted upward and saw a dark-haired man who smiled charmingly at her.
Caroline couldn't help but smiles back shyly with fluttered eyelashes. Kol glanced back and forth with perplexed eyes then frowned deeply. "Are you bloody kidding me? He's not even that good-looking." Kol whined and glared at the dark-haired man who stood up and sat at Bonnie's spot.
"Hey."
Caroline smiles widely. "Hi."
"I'm Damon Salvatore."
Kol cursed. "Bloody hell!" he knew this man was a vampire and he had a bad feeling about this.
